    One of the most fascinating projects that Aaron has been a part of was this runway demolition at Zurich International Airport. Eberhard crews had to demolish and reconstruct 70 meters of runway each night.
    The kicker? If they were even one minute past their deadline to reopen the runway they faced a $20,000 per minute penalty!
    To learn more about Eberhard, check out their website at eberhard.ch/. #construction #demolition #heavyequipment

I have an app on my phone that tells me what machines I need to stage and I just need to make sure they are full of fuel and functioning properly... I'd say the coolest part of the job is testing brand new equipment. It shows up with plastic on the seat and etc less than 10 hours, and my job is to figure out how to operate it so that I can show everyone else.
      Coolest thing I did recently was function test a brand new fully electric Takeuchi mini ex. It was brand new, and fully charged but it kept showing a code for a battery issue.
      After lots of testing and seeing everything was fine we just called Takeuchi - turns out with these electric excavators you need to drain the battery down to less than 5%, then recharge...

    Its cute how all of you are so shocked. I live in Canada, we have 2 seasons here, winter and construction, to repave a few km takes months. I went back to Taiwan for vacation, stayed at my aunt's store overnight and the 8 lane intersection was stripped and paved overnight, I didn't even see them getting ready late into the evening. I have never seen road construction in Taiwan, everything is just done over one night.

      So people don't have the right to be appreciative of the hard work of several hundreds of people to prevent the delay of several thousands of pre-booked flights while still done precisely enough for hundreds of people to trust their lives to land on an hour old run-way just because you have to "one up" them? Aright.

    • @gwot
      @gwot Před rokem

      @@cesarpalmos8235 we got a pessimist here. Did I even remotely suggest people can't be appreciative? no, not at all. I'm just saying, hard efficient work is nothing to be shocked at, that is it, it's not that deep. Also, your little run-on paragraph doesn't make sense, how does "one up"ing = people not having the right to be appreciative? I suggest you stop seeing everything on social media as "toxic", it'll help detox you as well.

      Roller skating rink floors in the early 80s. 16 grit sanding discs glued to the bottom of out boots. Poured it out of 5 gallon buckets and pushed it around with squeegees till it was smooth. The coating did have finely ground glass mixed in for traction with the skate wheels so the coating was slightly opaque. Only had one guy fall down in it. Probably way different today.

    We didn't do anything like this, but I did pour a super Walmart. Of course right off the exit area. We had to have the road shutdown for hours as lines of concrete trucks were slowly being emptied. We needed an extra 20 trucks that day. City fined us for obstruction of a motorway, and we forwarded it to Walmart. Not our problem the city allowed it to be built off the exit ramps. And not our problem they fined us for it. Walmart payed the company back.
