Thank you for showing the combo Sewer and Water pipe installation. very Deep for water pipe ( Freezing ground depth) Use to backfill mainline Sewer with a 125 International Loader and grade with 450 Case Dozer. We ran a single drum roller over top for compaction. Love seeing a Track loader backfill like that.
When I was in college in the 80s, I was a top man for a pipe crew. No plastic sewer pipe, it was all concrete. I have no hair on my thighs because no one told me to wear leather chaps. It was hard work!
@@jons_collectibles_13 We only started using PVC in 85? I would have to carry the 4" to 12" pipe up to the edge of the ditch and knee it vertically before dropping. I can't remember if the 12's were 205 lb or 230 lb. It definitely got you in shape but was a lot slower than PVC.
Even deeper frost here in Fort McMurray. They get maybe -20's°C in Calgary, Fort McMurray -40's°C In the Spring, the Municipality uses steam trucks to melt the street drains/pipes for the melting snow.
I worked on 475 super dozers in McMurray a decade ago. They worked well, but are just too big and sink out of site. I recovered one from cadomin coal mine that was struck by a shovel. After loading on a trombone trailer we had to use a Letourneau loader just so the semi truck pulling it could pull the grade out of the yard! It's a big dozer.
Great video. In NY our minimum bury depth for water services is 54” or 4’6” of cover on top of whatever size line being installed. It varies by frost depth in each region. In NC it’s only 12”. In Calgary it’s significantly colder for longer, so the ground frost has time to penetrate deeper.
Great video I to started working in the trenches Holidays, summers, anytime I could get out of school and make some extra money.Ended up working for large contractor in Omaha for 40 years Doing mostly under ground work running 3 or 4 different crew's putting in sewers, water, power, communication all around the midwest. Thank you for the video brings back memories.
Right in Sparwood is a massive green mine truck, 3 axles. Very cool older piece of mine equipment on display. Would recommend you check it out, can't miss it.
@Josh Podolsky Thanks for mentioning that giant haul truck. That truck is the one and only Terex 33-19. Better known as the Terex TITAN. The truck had a payload capacity of 350 tons.Powering the huge Terex was a massive locomotive engine that cranked out 3,300 gross horsepower. The Terex Titan was the biggest capacity mining haul truck for many years.I’m happy to hear the machine is on display and being looked after.
Sewer isn't "Always" gravity brah. We have a community here where the houses are all on a hillside going down to the water. Each house has a trash tank, with lift pump. The water gets reclaimed to irrigate the golf course that weaves throughout.. Let's just say Check valves are a redundancy there!!
Love the details you have been providing lately! Would love cabin tours of the heavy equipment whenever possible! Love the Canadian vlog series - cool to see what issues they face and methods used to solve em.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the reason the water and sewage lines are so far deep is to protect them from the frigid cold on the surface and risk burst pipes, because Canadian winters are nothing to scoff at that's for sure. Also good to see you're off to Sparwood next, I almost got a job there as a Haul Truck driver, as I'd mentioned in the Oil sands video.
Might have to move to canda just started a job doing this my first job out of high school, been pretty good love learning we do this too cool thing to see is these ones we do for water retentions giant trenches, we have open about 500ft at a time(but they run for 1000 or more at times)install 1-4 lines of 12ft diameter aluminum pipes. I like the career so far but im in arizona heat sucks and views there look so much better
Best case scenario frost in Alberta penetrates down to a minimum of 1.2 Meters/4 feet. Many things such as traffic and lack of snow can drive frost line deeper. That's why water lines are laid at 3 meters/9 foot 10 inches.
Great video I learned something as always which is great. I would love to see a watch me work episode of that Cat 6015B on the last episode, that would be cool, but until the next one take care.
We just got done laying a 30” and 2- 36” lines out of an old quarry hole, C-900 baby 💪 we do a lot of directional drill pipe as well YALL need to do a video of how we weld that plastic pipe together we do a lot of it for sewer lines, it’s crazy how strong it is💪
Aaron,Mother nature is always utilities correct,I'm just bustin your chains..Great video,Not a mini ex in site.. Don't get me wrong, there priceless,That was deep on those,I guess the frost line is wicked... Stay safe and enjoy my friend..
I will say I wish you got to go over the pipelines in Northern Britsh Columbia... would have been a great opportunity for you to see and your viewers to see
I always thought D11’s were larger than the 475’s never been around the 475’s but a couple of guys I worked with that were D11 operators said they were. I got to see a 575 once and it was crazy how big that thing was.
Here in New Zealand there are 2 unique 575A Komatsu dozers that are both Super Dozer and Super Ripper both were owned and operated by Kaipara Excavators and worked at the Stockton Mine on the West Coast of the South Island one is now in Ross Bros museum in Cambridge the other sits at the entrance to Kaipara owned Brookby Quarry in South Auckland there are some CZcams videos of them
Aaron! I'm up in golden BC lol, I can't actually believe how close you are to me. Depending on your schedule, try and go through banf national park if you get the chance and stop at the hotspring. awesome videos loving watching them I live in New Zealand and was interested to see the Komatsu Super Dozer as there are 2 here that are both Super Dozer Super Ripper both are retired now but worked side by side in a coal mine at Stockton one is in a museum the other sits at the gate of the owners quarry
Aaron, Yes the city is called Calgary, but it is not in Ontario, it is in Alberta.(Ontario is on the east coast while Alberta is on the west coast) In the description, you said Calgary, Ontario. Great video anyway Thanks!

Why would they put sewer line and water line so close.what if there's a sewer leak then it bleeds into the ground.any kind of water leak wouldn't be good at all.
Curious - each set (pipe joint length of trench) they finish to grade, do they take their excavator, track over to the next trench then reset and they do that x2?
How nice of blueconn to let you on a helicopter ride to lunch but you know what would be better nasa or ruscomos letting you on a rocket for lunch. Hope too see some exploding rocks and rocket rides soon
Ok just subscribed since i saw your videos for 5 mins. Im in construction, sort of, scaffolder..... The video that talks about your company. What do you and the people around you know about the dirtworld? Have you worked in the business? How long could you live without utility systems in place?

not long if i ate taco bell that day!

Very well actually. I'm obviously not a city boy
Did you mean to say you love pipe and that you had a soft spot for it?

I just watched that video on the oil-ly rock stuff and read your comment their too.
I can see why you can’t get a haul truck driver job if you have to guess it’s about frost lines…
the pipe turned in to a bucket for placing bedding is genius.
D11 is bigger than the 475 d11 is the biggest production dozer again after they stopped the 575
Not by weight. 475 super dozer has it edged

Not always gravity for sewer you can have a force main for sewer. Although you probably know this but most normal people don't.
Here in montana waterline has a minimum of 6½ feet of cover.
It has to be that deep because its below the frost line, which is 10 feet or 3 meters up in Calgary.
