  • This is the version where we kill all the Duergar before freeing Nere.
    Version where the Duergar are still alive: • Baldur's Gate 3 - all ...
    1:43 persuade him to free the gnomes
    4:30 persuade him to leave the absolute
    5:30 pick dialogue option 1 or 3 or 4 (don't call him stupid lol)
    That's how you save both the gnomes and Nere.

    People keep asking how to do this. So here is your guide:
    Kill all the duergar near the dig site before you free Nere.
    1:43 persuade him to free the gnomes
    4:30 pick dialogue option 2 to get the dialogue that let's you persuade him to leave the absolute
    5:17 pick any of the skill check options (persuasion, history or detect thoughts) just don't call him stupid lol

    Would be nice to be able to pick him up as a companion. There are quite a few that you get locked out of by being evil and this could be one that could have some reservations about you being too nice. Karlach and Wyll will leave/attack you if you betray the grove (which you need to do in order to get Minthara), Halsin will become unobtainable and Gale will require a persuasion roll to keep in your party. Granted, you can get around the whole thing by continuity breaking your run but that's a headache to actually do and locks you out of items and rewards.
    Bottom line is, it feels like the game seems to actively try to punish you for an evil run instead of having it be a different route through the game, and having Nere as a potential devil on your shoulder companion I feel would help remedy that.

      If they changed minthara to being available in Act 1 as a companion, then Nere in act 2. Arguably astarion is already evil, it’d be good to have a full party of fledged out evil characters.
      I wouldn’t mind an expansion where your good companions leave you to stop you. You could choose to beat the dead three to take the power yourself, or to follow them, and either way, you’ve got to stop the plans of the ex-companions from saving the world.

    I didn’t even know you could do this, I had absolutely no idea this was even a possibility to get him to do this. And like everyone else I’m absolutely shocked he wasn’t an eligible companion character, idk maybe he’s a bit more ruthless than minthara and that’s why he doesn’t come with you. But I just don’t see how that even makes sense because if minthara is willing to join you and your group that is comprised of mostly good people, I don’t see what would stop Nere from joining you.
    Especially when you would think that he and minthara would both want to either get revenge on the absolute or at the very bare minimum be cured of their tadpoles. And on top of all of that you’d think that if you recruited nere, then recruiting minthara would theoretically be easier to make those checks and get her on your side if she see’s another high ranking member of the cult join you instead of the absolute.

  • @ToxicGamez
    @ToxicGamez Před 8 měsíci +51

    I'll say it before and I'll say it again. Not being able to recruit Nere was a serious missed opportunity. Especially since you don't even recruit Minthara until you reach moonrise. The trade off between choosing an "evil" campaign over a good one hardly seems fair given the opportunity cost is so great. You lose out on 2 companions, don't get Halsin, many characters die and their quests die along with them, and there's no fill in character for Act 1. Nere could have balanced the scale a bit. A charismatic warlock with an extremely talented VA is a perfect replacement for Wyll. Not to mention Nere seems much more interesting. His legacy even lives on in Act 2 with Balthazar's skull telling him and Minthara not to follow him into Shar's gauntlet and with the note you find on the dead duergar cursing him, lol. Such a shame. Here's to hoping the definitive edition makes him a companion because as of the current case, going the evil route is just so bland and bad that it doesn't even seem like an option.

    • @MGamingVideos
      @MGamingVideos  Před 8 měsíci +12

      He is a sorcerer, not a warlock so wouldn't have been a replacement for Wyll. Also despite being an evil aligned character, it seems more like he would have been an alternative for Minthara if you go the good route instead of evil (during early access you had to side with the tieflings and kill minthara in order to get this dialogue option to convince Nere).
      Wyll is tied in with the main plot in act 3 so it wouldn't be good to make this a choice. plus wyll is an origin companion, they are the 6 main characters. but they should improve wyll's storyline as well because the last minute rewrites caused him to have far less content compared to the other 5.
      I agree that Minthara only being available if we slaughter the tieflings/grove sucks. I wouldn't even care that it's either Halsin or Minthara recruited. It's good to have tough choices. I just wish it wasn't straight up kill one or the other. I would rather pick minthara but in 90% of my playthroughs I have halsin because indeed the trade off to get minthara is not balanced.

      unique to lock and bard unless you choose magic initiate feat which he doesnt have. Also, I think the point of the OP wasn’t meant as Nere being a literal choice of whether to pick between Wyll or Nere. Wyll is already out of the picture in an evil campaign, so the status of his origin character and act 3 involvement is irrelevant. It’s more about filling in his absence with an alternative companion if you go the evil route.

I say monk as we do have a character for almost every class except Monk as a party member. Hell I can definitely see a whole plausible arc that he could have of being on a search of vengance against the Absolute cult and perhaps having his arc being entirely about Faith as a vocal point given Minthara is a flat character who could have had the same but with her it makes a little more sense as she is evil afterall and is more so a catalyst for your TAV's fall.

    I never thought about killing the gnomes first. I just assumed that Nere will automatically get mad and try to fight you. It’s crazy that there’s so many options in this game that most people miss out on. It’s one of the reasons why I love this game so much.

    If he goes off to notify the Order of Soul Spiders, does that impact anything later in the game? Do they show up as a potential ally for the finale or have any questlines associated that are made easier (or even possible) by his actions? It's easy to just say "as soon as he leaves the artifact's radius of protection he just gets ceremorphized or controlled back" to excuse it if not, but it would be cool if this does actually change anything

      I think none of those options where he leaves the absolute have any resolution in the game. I usually pick the persuasion or history check, tell him to abandon the cult and run. Telling him to go back to Lolth seems evil. they would punish him if he went back imo. but I think the game doesn't acknowledge a difference between these two options.
      When he goes to Moonrise, he is killed by Balthazar. otherwise we are left to assume he lived but we don't know what happened.

      @@mel-burnes As far as I know there aren't. I played drow before and I don't remember drow specific dialogue in this scene. (Here my character is half-drow but also nothing unique)

      @@mel-burnes I think the "It's not too late to reclaim your faith in Lolth" dialogue becomes marked as a drow specific dialogue if you play drow but the game is just trying to trick us like it's special. lol that dialogue is always there

    Still doesn't explain why he's laying dying in this tunnel, while the Duergar know where the right path is, since they tell you if you wanna go into it.

    Looking for expansions. Mainly to see more of Minthara, she is such wasted potential. Nere could also be a companion... maybe a bard since they did not give us Alfira.

    Without the prism, wouldn't Nere just turn into a mind flayer in the end?

      If he can deceive the absolute of his intentions, he might be able to get away, but i doubt he could lie his way through because of literal tadpole in his head.
      He could be instantly turn into mindflayer with a flick like your game-over scene when you lose the artifact protection.

    • @MGamingVideos
      @MGamingVideos  Před 8 měsíci +10

      It's mentioned that true souls have different altered parasites, they were not intended for transformation but to be controlled. ofc they could still turn true souls on command but there is no indication they did that to him. he wouldn't turn automatically like those with regular tadpoles.
      Also I am not sure how we are meant to interpret the ending where people on the streets start turning and attacking. I assumed that only happens if we waste time after grabbing the third nether stone. when I killed gortash last and I immediately travelled to the pool to go for the brain/end game, I didn't see anyone turning on the streets. so I don't know if that still happens off screen or if actually I prevented that.
