This game is ripe with urban legends and myths, I absolutely love it.

Luigi was originally intended to be a playable character and was going to be a playable character in the DD version. It was scrapped by Miyamoto as there isn't really any two player playable elements in Super Mario 64. It was revived (all be it not by the original developers for the DS release).

Fun Fact: Somebody Wrote Down "Eternal Star" And Messed With It's Resolution In Paint And Got An Exact Match To The Star Statue's Text.
So The Statue Actually Says "Eternal Star" Which Fits Considering How Important Stars Are In SM64.

You should check out the Nintendo gigaleak, they explained in a FRACTION of all of the info dump that luigi was actually planned in the game. They even found his models in said leak, its crazy.
Sidenote: You should check out how the Gigaleak occured! It was based ALL around L is real, and made interesting use of it to set a specific date in which, well, the gigaleak would occur. Its an amazing read.
I believe there is a scrapped Luigi model in the leaked source code of Mario 64. They were discovered 24 years and 01 month after the game’s release, in late July 2020. 2401.
Maybe that sign was supposed to mean something in the game initially but they decided to just not include Luigi.

people never got the ghoul medal because they immediately exited the stage when they got a star (not 100 coin one) that means you have to probably do something to mess with the star sending you to the courtyard (maybe mods) then blj off the map and blj back (not sure how you will do that) im not sure to be honest

@@A_person646 No it's not, the guy is just lying. We have Super Mario 64 decompiled for like 3 years now, if that was real then people would have noticed already
ngl if these were real they would be very diferent than what people say:
the Ghoul Medal would simply show up if you left right after entering for the first time.
Wario's head would probably be just some sort of barrier.
The Yellow cap probably would be a alternative version of the fire flower.
Luigi either wouldnt be hard to unlock or just be playable in a co-op from the beginning.
I dont know what I was going with this just wanting to think how it would be
I feel like there was supposed to be cold cold crevasse and peach level aswell,they would totally have 128 stars in the entire game,but for some reason it is now a "CUT CONTENT" that will never appear unless modded

the thing that really annoys me about the ghoul medal is how its capitalized, "Ghoul Medal", like its a name or something important, instead of "ghoul medal", the thing is, it almost makes sense for it to be capitalized in that way, because you do capitalize the name of all official medals or awards handed out in the military and olympics, but this isnt an official medal, this is a pun, so its sorta back to square one as to why they would capitalize it like this.

@@Knoxlava I remember seeing a video on the super Mario ds game about waluigi being in there because with the colors on the box art was the other colors of the crew and there was purple somewhere there hinting waluigi and I liked waluigi due to little me thinking he was op in Mario party ds (I don’t normally check notifications so sorry if this was late)

I’m glad I didn’t use the internet growing up. All my Mario 64 theories and myths were just me and my friends theorising about how we could reach hidden areas and how we could get on top of places we weren’t supposed to and maybe find something. And of course trying to get across the trap door and enter the bowser painting

I still wonder. 2003 a classmate told me that Pokemon in Japan already had versions Black and White, Diamond and Perl. But this would be impossible. But 2003 was right because after that school finished.

Cold cold crevasse is existing in b3313 rom hack (warning, it is liminal.) Also, going behind the mirror and going in some paintings, and even going to the round painting with peach outside the castle is possible. Also i can play as luca- u mean luigi
I have a crackpot theory about the Ghoul Medal. So in 2006 a small Nintendo DS game called Kirby Squeak Aquad released, now if you've played it before you probably know where I'm going, but if you don't just sit and listen. In the game there is a cellectible called the Ghost Medal, maybe just maybe, during development HAL was like "remember the Ghoul Medal from Super Mario 64?" and reused the idea there.
The star statue actually says:
"ETERNAL STAR"
Idk whats below on the 2nd line, the part people claim is "2041." If you look closely, it obviously doesn't say "L is real" I've never understood why so many people misinterpreted the inscription so hard lol.

There is 121 stars in the game... But the 121st star is broken... So they scrapped it... Not to mention that they messed up it's coordinates. But... It's still in it, but disabled. 10:26

thing is, there are 121 stars. after completing 120 stars, you can race the penguin again for an extra star and an enhanced tripple jump
There isn't a 121 star in the game, you probably used a cheat code to get 120 stars and then you decided to race the penguin, and since you got all of the stars in the way that the game did not expected you to do so it did gave you a yellow star but it was a glitch, you can get the enchanced triple jump only from yoshi after getting 120 stars and the penguin gets wide when you get them all. You probably played around with cheat codes back in the day when you were a kid and you didn't do the research about the post game stuff when you 100% completed the game, so when you talked to that yoshi you didn't know you got the enchanced triple jump, and after that you decided to play around a bit more, so raced the penguin and got that star and you also found out about the triple jump thing sometime later, and so you thought it was because of a penguin star. Next time don't make a fool of yourself and research stuff online properly, we have Super Mario 64 decompiled for 3 years now, if that was real, people would have known that, oh and if you're talking about that star that swankybox found out about, well it was a glitch from toad's tool 64 since that program is ancient as hell and it didn't read the game objects correctly, I mean he even made a video about it so why am I even telling you this, go watch it yourself: czcams.com/video/hQYuII5PhY0/video.html
@@Maxutko901 nope. i am not smart enough to know how to use cheat codes. i don't remember if the counter itself went to 121, but i do know that the penguin was wider and the star was yellow again. it was the exact same mission besides that.
