My scariest thing while playing this game is Fear of Drowning, i dont like the level where you transported into another area underwater, like 3 stages on noki bag

Don’t get me wrong, they’re still kinda scary, but Petey Piranha falling with Mario into a windmill with that haunting music as well as when you wake him up and WHEN UOU HAVE TO DIVE DOWN TO THE CREEPY UNDERWATER CAVERN TO BE EELY MOUTH’S DENTIST! 😰
When talking about scary things in Mario games, people always bring up Mario 64 enemies.
That eel in sunshine was terrifying, and you can't avoid it. You have to go near it. Eels in Mario games like being creepy in general.

Idk why but Hotel Delfino use to give me this weird feeling specially the music on the beach and how you could see everything in the distance it was peaceful but the music made it feel off.
I’ll be honest, there was nothing scary to me in this game besides the manta. I see why mario 64 came off as creepy but mario sunshine was always a lot of fun to me

Petey piranha is what scared me the most as a kid, he's just a giant flower is sharp teeth and no other facial features.
Always hated the second encounter growing up. I think its because I expected the boss fight to be us shooting those pink-animals at Petey. Nope, the upbeat music just stops and in the silence he just swarms up and starts flying toward you
I dont really find him spooky, hes just goofy, the way he looks at mario when the ground is breaking is so goofy.

Mario’s doppelgänger and the eel in Sunshine was terrifying to me when I was a kid
In the cutscene where Mario is in jail, when the camera cuts to a zoom in of the black graffiti’d shine gate shine, as a kid…..scared me
Another slightly terrifying Mario title to talk about is Luigi’s Mansion from 2001’s GameCube
Sonic when he gets arrested: escapes from the island, mario when he gets arrested: cleans the island
The under water drowning creeped me out as a kid and that day made me not go in the ocean again

They put an "X" over his eyes in Super Mario 64. I was like "Damn..."
That thing about Shadow Mario standing on air is kind of funny. People tend to forget that Bowser and his kids are surprisingly skilled magic users.
Sunshine has the best world building of all 3D main mario games.
Lava Cheep Cheep in corona mountain should be mentioned, for one if you look at their pupils which resemble a flower they are very similar to the Tostarenans flower pupils from Odyssey which are undead skeleton race found in the desert planet in that game. Which they themselves are a reference to a Holiday from Mexico that honors the dead Día de Muertos, also known as "Day of the Dead".
So yeah... is it a coincidence that these cheep cheep have the same exact pupils as the undead race found in Mario Odyssey? who knows quite frankly it may have been just a stylistic choice but if not then those are indeed undead cheep cheep that are swimming in the lava of Corona Mountain...
Damn going inside that giant hole in the abyss is really dark but the fact that we still have lights round a bit which kind of give us a realistic feeling if the Elly hadn't been so big. If we could enter through the skin of Ely than that would have the most scariest part of your whole life, even mine cuz going through ellys big fatty skin with the blue water screen may be very scary though

Mario sunshine was an exhausting game for me because some levels were so annoying. But the manta level and the eel level where definitely scary for me, they made me feel so uneasy.
I don't think this game is really scary, all of the "disturbing" things get overshadowed by the bright colors and fun music of the game. While i can agree some parts are out of place for a Mario game (the violence and death thing for example), at least 90% of the game is VERY child-friendly. Also i think the eel in this game mostly looks goofy rather than scary, 64 was scarier.
For me the scariest about this is the phantamanta because of that thing I can't watch it because the sight and its movements scare all of the daylights out of me

I love Pixels after Dark sm. Its just the fact from the way his videos range. Their so eerie, and their much different than others. But at the same time their not. Keep up the amazing work man.
I always felled disturbed when dying to pits in mario games in the mario sunshine level where you need to cool down a chain chomp their pit is more scary because you can see mario almost hitting the ground before the blackout.
I'm too late for the comments. I know most of you must not get scared that easily, but when I was a kid there were 2 things that creeped the hell out of me in the GameCube. 1. The A foe has appeared screen in Smash Bros Melee plus the Master Hand and dark stages like Final Destination and 2. The galaxy levels in Mario Sunshine. It starts with Shadow Mario creepily taking away the Backpack, then the whole thing that terrified me is the fact there's a whole of nothingness in those stages. What I felt afraid of was falling off and facing that death in the emptiness of the galaxy. I think it got pretty philosophical at some point but it always scared me

These are my favorite videos on your channel and I would love for you to cover games like Galaxy (which is my favorite 3D Mario game) and even maybe Mario Odyssey. Though idk how scary the latter is. I don't really remember much of this game but I always did find it odd how they made Mario be put in jail. Like he's a hero how could he ever be a bad guy?

Eelymouth and Phantamanta were two reasons why I had a hard time competing super Mario sunshine as a kid.

I played this game a lot when I was younger, and I can say for sure that the scariest part of this game are those damn water spider things.
Gooper Blooper might of been killed the 3rd time because when you send him flying he falls on solid land on his head too with no limbs to move around anymore. Any other time you fight Gooper Blooper you send into the water leading back to the ocean which would a more natural environment for him. Just an interesting thing to note since you never see him anywhere after the 3rd fight.
I CAN NOT STOP WATCHING THESE AND IM CRAZY UNSETTLED

I just find the Petey and Eel Goofy, the way Petey looks at mario when the ground is shattering is goofy, while the eel, his teeth is awesoem, the only spooky thing about the eel fight is that the stage may be a direct reference to wet dry world sky box, the sky box is a abandoned drowned city, and whats the stage? An abandoned drowned building.. everythings drowned, this may had me thinking, did mario die (another theory) of water? Like he ran out of oxygen and died? Well its just a theory... A MARIO THEORY!
