I can't even say how much I still love this song - 40 years on. This movie hit close to home with me back then. It's the darker, edgier, flipside of Footloose 😮
When I saw this scene in the theater, my jaw dropped. This song I discovered at a new wave club in Houston. Both actors are awesome dancing together, Love Romeo Void and lead Singer Debora Iyall.
Curious to know if Aidan Quinn already knew how to dance like this or if he had to learn it for the movie? He really goes off when that bass kicks in. Very powerful scene.
If you grew up in Pgh or Wheeling, Steubenville anywhere in the Steel Valley, this was high school. It captures the scene totally. Bowling, the football games, the dance..the "I gotta get out of here" feeling. Great soundtrack!
Stupid. First of all, as someone who moved around a lot as a kid, several countries, growing up in one small place is a LUXURY! Second, Young Jayne Cobb? Take him.
I'm a few years your senior from Youngstown. This and Swoop, Party Train, Dazz Band, Let it Whip, etc. take me me back! Unfortunately, my knees won't let me...
One of the most "under rated" movies of the decade. Much more of an edge than the other high school movies of the period, and a great closing scene with Bob Seeger's Roll Me Away as they ride off on his motorcycle.
This scene is very well choreographed to the music. Right down to when she turns to walk away. I didn’t appreciate it as a kid but it was at least 2 decades ahead of its time in that way.
It’s the way it was from 1980 into the 90’s on the club scene. What a unique wonderful time it was . We danced in NYC clubs ,Long Island clubs and Westchester NY clubs. New music coming out everyday. Cool radio stations. When I see the two of them flying across the dance floor it brings me back . Such a great scene 👍
I was just looking for the song... I had practically forgotten that it was this movie that turned me onto to this song. Aidan was so cool in this scene. And Darryl ... she stole my lonely teenaged heart
I love Aidan...He is so great in this scene...Agree? Love the whole rebel feel of this movie, and the love scenes are so full of passion...One of my favorite movies!
Wow, I forgot about this film till now. This is actually one of the few films I remember going to theater to watch when I was a teenage. It was good film and the soundtrack was great. I think I had it on vinyl. Gosh, vinyl lol. 80's sigh. They were the days.
2:19 *Such a great song intro. The harmonics, the drum fill, the bassline. Perfection.* Plus, 16 y.o. me I always thought it was SO cool how he casually starts dancing during that killer song intro. Then he goes off! 3:13 Then, and now same thought: How the hell did they not knock skulls!?
Funny enough, he was not a fan of the finished film. He gave an interview recently and said it was his first produced screenplay and he was upset by the changes the director made, and watched the screening in tears. (He wanted it to be a more realistic slice-of-life and less MTV-stylish.) I bought a copy of Columbus’s script off eBay and it does have a couple of interesting subplots cut from the movie. (Tracy is sleeping with the coach, for example, which is how she knew what Johnny wrote on his card.)
My thoughts: Daryl Hanna was a babe back in the day. One in a million you was a freaking depressing slow dance. Aidan Quinn was a crazy good dancer back in the day. Don't mess with Animal Mother (Adam Baldwin). Looks like a good movie BTW.
Ever notice how "dark" it is in most scenes? No Sunlight, Grey sky, Overcast, dark rooms...the Director hit a HOME RUN setting the Mood. One of the BEST soundtracks ever !!
In the mid-80's I was dating a woman who was 30 (I was 22), and we watched this movie at my apartment one night. We both thought his dance was unhinged, and we both loved it. After the movie ended, we rewound and watched this scene like 5 times...whereas she mostly thought he was a lunatic, I, being younger, understood the punk sensibility of his wild dance. And for a good while after we watched it, whenever she wanted sex she'd often say "I like you - but I might like you better if we slept together". Which was both funny, and a turn on. Now I have grown daughters 30, and 28 - from the sex that followed, lol. And I'm sure they'd be mortified if I told them that Romeo Void was partially responsible for their existence...LOL !!!!!
Greg Winston dude seriously ive loved this movie since I was like 12 in 85 ... my daughter is almost 23 lol but we thought our parents were lame .. they always say you will understand when u get older but we really but our kids will transition into us and so forth and so forth.. dude whatever happened to the30 y old .. I bet it waz rad to be dating during the early mid eighties im about 10 y yur junior so I did my running and gunnin from 90 to 99 .. I love hearing stories like that.. she sounded like cool .. u were a pimp to get a 30 u old!
Goddamn Aiden Quinn was a great actor... i mean that dude totally committed to every scene! He acted like every scene was his last scene! So underrated!!
I'm gonna go out on a limb here, Aidan is from Chicago, (so is Darryl) The early 80's House music scene had a lot of hardcore dancing. I wouldn't be surprised if he incorporated some of that, cause we use to go off!!
Great song to dance to! Pre-Woke 80s. We were human beings then and enjoyed polarity between the sexes which made the continuation of human life possible since the dawn of creation.
Gritty ...realistic high school scene of W Va., Pittsboigh area ... geez...that kid in the tan suit. Surprised the director didn't demand a do-over with tan suit making a coffee run while they shot it. Or, as they say in Philly, "What a jamoke."
I was out with 2 other friends, getting high, and we ended up going to see this randomly. I had heard this song already, but the vibe, and weed hit good and I was hooked on this song. I also think of this movie. I liked it, but it hasn't aged well, and in no way do they look like teens 😂
Adian Quinn is awesome, did anybody else notice that Everyone is wearing gray, white or black and Daryl Hannah is the only one wearing red so she stands out in the scene.
The range of Adam Baldwin is underrated. Can play both the good guy and the dickhead with ease and precision in whatever movie you put him in. Great talent.
Easily the best dance scene in any movie ever. Aidan zoned.
It was a pretty Bad Ass Dance Scene , excellent Movie as well .
Aiden Quinn has GOT to be the most underrated movie actor ever. He goes all in every time.
I can't even say how much I still love this song - 40 years on. This movie hit close to home with me back then. It's the darker, edgier, flipside of Footloose 😮
Oh, I agree 💯!❤️🔥
Ooooh I just love the way Aidan Quinn was rocking this in rhythm
Way cool
Fer sure!
Romeo Void is one of the most under rated bands in my time. The songs all hit that vibe! Singer had her own unique voice…rare.
Reckless was a good film.Very well acted scene here.Love Romeo Void's iconic sound; great 80s group!
Me too!!
I loved this movie. An 80’s gem. This was a great scene.
Aiden Quinn committed to THAT, GET IT!!!😂😂😂 LOVED IT!
That’s how it was when they played this kick as song back in the clubs back in the early 80’. Miss those days
Mtv also
I still love this scene. Aiden moved like a tornado!
I think this is one of the deepest and best lyrically written songs of the "new wave" era. This and Mad World kind of set the bar high.
This scene was my introduction to this awesome song. I’ve loved it ever since.
It was mine, too!!❤️
And still in my top 10.
Very powerful scene.
we all used to dance like this back then. looking back, it looks like he's having a seizure
DITTO
Dude was "slam-dancing" dude tore that dancefloor TF up💪💪💪💪💪
The band Romeo Void rocked and ruled in the 80s. #classic.
But man it was fun!!!@@metislamestiza3708
I will never forget that great movie. These were the 80ies.
Take him.
love the movie grew up outside of steubenville. saw it at the fort steuben mall.
I'm a few years your senior from Youngstown. This and Swoop, Party Train, Dazz Band, Let it Whip, etc. take me me back!
Unfortunately, my knees won't let me...
love it!! he just goes off
One of the most "under rated" movies of the decade. Much more of an edge than the other high school movies of the period, and a great closing scene with Bob Seeger's Roll Me Away as they ride off on his motorcycle.
They're supposed to be in high school? lol
Best Ending of any Movie...Period. GREAT movie....takes me back.
Pj Brady absolutely loved this movie back in day . Little while ago bought it on eBay . Aiden and HannAh were a great match in this movie
The ending scene should have played Bruce Springsteen's, "Born to Run".
"SHANE" has it beat for best ending
This song, and Aidan's dancing is truly magical ✨️ 🪄😍
I remember seeing this film back in the day at a local dollar cinema along with Footloose as a double feature.
Love the way he dances
kaz totally un-inhibited an on the nut! Wild. Passionate. And FREE!
Another great movie defining the 1980’s
So cinematic on both Aidan and Darryl dancing together. He turn the record from slow, sappy song to the song that rock.
One of the best! 80's movies and and dance sequences Awesome!
I always loved this scene.
OMG! I was thirteen (13) when I watched this flix! Brings back memories of junior high school...those were the best times ever!
Wow, I forgot about this film till now. This is actually one of the few films I remember going to theater to watch when I was a teenage. It was good film and the soundtrack was great. I think I had it on vinyl. Gosh, vinyl lol. 80's sigh. They were the days.
As u probably know vinyl has made a HUGE comeback!! Only older technology that I can think of that has!
Love the song and have the Album on vinyl. Absolutely early 80's with the bass and sax.
This scene gives me goosepops. The way the camera is used is so cool.
So I was 21 when this movie was released in '84 and how I missed it is beyond me!!
I was 21 too in 84 a lot things going on in 80s music movies MTV Radio Stations Concerts
Night Clubs Worked Hard Party Hard
This movie introduced me to Romeo Void.
I am so glad that you love the movie, and the INXS songs! "To look at you" is one of my favorite INXS songs! Classic movie...Classic INXS...Thank you!
I own this. have since the late eighties. Always a good night watching this movie and living in those old memories.
the 80s perfectly captured in 4 minutes
Great Jam, even better Movie, definitely underrated, which most of the great movies of the 80's were, as well as the Greatest Music Ever...!!!!!
Great scene! Aiden Quinn on the dance floor! Gold!
this is my favorite scene in this movie...inspirational
One of best movies of 80’s. Never say never. ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶
2:19 *Such a great song intro. The harmonics, the drum fill, the bassline. Perfection.*
Plus, 16 y.o. me I always thought it was SO cool how he casually starts dancing during that killer song intro. Then he goes off!
3:13 Then, and now same thought: How the hell did they not knock skulls!?
raw fundamental tune coupled with assumed deep lyrics! Love our generation!
Loved this song and this movie ... 80s was a great time to be alive .. reckless....
Thank you Chris Columbus for writing this slice of 80s angst of a movie!
Funny enough, he was not a fan of the finished film. He gave an interview recently and said it was his first produced screenplay and he was upset by the changes the director made, and watched the screening in tears. (He wanted it to be a more realistic slice-of-life and less MTV-stylish.)

Great movie with a great story line. A shame it is not recognized more
Loved this film I saw it when it first came out.
Aiden picked this Romeo Void song himself. Told to me by lead singer Debora.
Because Aiden is _awesome._
That is really special! Lucky you to have known such an amazing singer.
Never saw the movie but always loved the song!
My thoughts: Daryl Hanna was a babe back in the day. One in a million you was a freaking depressing slow dance. Aidan Quinn was a crazy good dancer back in the day. Don't mess with Animal Mother (Adam Baldwin). Looks like a good movie BTW.
one of my very favorite movies. so romantic. great music.
Reckless was an awesome movie - some people just didn't get it. I guess it was too arthaus for them or something. it was real and it was gritty
Ever notice how "dark" it is in most scenes? No Sunlight, Grey sky, Overcast, dark rooms...the Director hit a HOME RUN setting the Mood. One of the BEST soundtracks ever !!
A jewel!!
love that movie and song
Aidan rocked this scene!

@@joeymcvey7617 Who's to say _she_ didn't get _him,_ though?
Greg Winston smart decision not to share your memories with your daughters Greg😒
Check out Amanda Blank’s “Might Like You Better.”
Dude that's so freaking cool 😂 I'd be stoked if I found out my parents conceived me through such a cool song
i love this movie... if you haven't seen it... please do!... its just amazing...
I'll check it out.👍
Love this movie so much
Silver fox has ingrained❤❤ rhythmic moves . Love those Irish boys they age well.
I love the 80s. My generation x
Goddamn Aiden Quinn was a great actor... i mean that dude totally committed to every scene! He acted like every scene was his last scene! So underrated!!
I love this concept. Aidan's character forces Daryl Hannah's character to fall in love with him with his seductive dance moves.
If you tried to dance like that today you'd get tossed out of the club.
I dance like that.
Db Snurr
Then you should be thrown out.
I don't frequently visit the dance floor so I don't get thrown out that often.
Db Snurr
In that case, I'll dance with you..
+Bob A Booey I got tossed out of a club once, and punched in the face by a bouncer, for dancing punk style to The Sex Pistols.
Loved that flick
Great memories. ❤
Don't think he's underrated at all. He's always great.
Was released 2010 with Warner Brothers archive collection. I own it :) great flick!
When I saw this movie back in the 80$, I loved it. An actual 80$ movie where not everyone was dancing much less getting it.😆😆
OMG. Aidan Quinn dancing. As hot as Jemaine/Bret, Napoleon Dynamite. Had no idea. I'm even more enamored now.
simply sublime...
Best movie ever.
Gritty ...realistic high school scene of W Va., Pittsboigh area ... geez...that kid in the tan suit. Surprised the director didn't demand a do-over with tan suit making a coffee run while they shot it. Or, as they say in Philly, "What a jamoke."
Tobey Starburst but gave us...INXS!!!🥳🥳🙏🙏
That dance had me dying 😂.
love the movie
he looks so cool doin that
Great movie 🍿🤙🏽
I was out with 2 other friends, getting high, and we ended up going to see this randomly. I had heard this song already, but the vibe, and weed hit good and I was hooked on this song. I also think of this movie. I liked it, but it hasn't aged well, and in no way do they look like teens 😂
I think she matches him as far as dancing she's perfect the way she gets turned on by the whole thing very well done
Adian Quinn is awesome, did anybody else notice that
Everyone is wearing gray, white or black and Daryl Hannah is the only one wearing red so she stands out in the scene.
My friends and I whipped out our necks so bad imitating this scene!
Young Adam Baldwin? OMG! I think Im in love!
cocaine's a hell of a drug
Yes, please post the whole movie!!!
I thought I knew of 80's high school themed movies. Haven't seen this one. Have to see this now.
cooooooool
I got my movie in the mail ,reckless with all org music with Romeo void"
The range of Adam Baldwin is underrated. Can play both the good guy and the dickhead with ease and precision in whatever movie you put him in. Great talent.
Awesome Memories/ This Band Brought Out the Naughty Girl Who wants harmless fun.
Get it Aiden!
Love him!!
Aidan Quinn and Daryl Hannah are both older now and I wonder do they watch this scene and say "we killed those dance moves didn't we?
Awesome flickk
Lots of steamy scenes in this film - Aidan's a lucky guy! His film debut I believe.
Used to think it said molecule better if we slept together
Maria Spierer I love the way you think.😂
Thank you very much Maria!!! That made me laugh so hard!! Now that you say that, I hear it too😎🤘
I gotta see this movie now.
Yes. Yes, you do.
balls to the walls with no cares. he was like, 'fuck the robots', i'm doing my thing.
!e invented slam dancing for the hardcore music I swear this is the best
I don't know, choosing between Aidan Quinn or Adam Baldwin would be a tough decision for me! How about I take them both 😁
I know it!
_That_ is an incredible choice.
Nice catch.
Get it Aiden! super!
