    One tip! If you are not putting the items in your checked bag, you can get the stamp validation and send it off once you’ve checked in and passed security- each company has booths next to the gates, and usually the lines are much much shorter!

      They did not accept our items since some of the more expensive purchases were traveling with us

      Meaning inside they said that customs needed to stamp these first

    Had experience in Thailand and Dubai. Very easy to get tax back but in local currency in airport. Usually use it for duty free or save it for our next trip.

    So I am used to the old way, so forgive me if I ask a question that you’ve already answered because there was a lot of information. If I do a lot of shopping, and I want to ship all of my items home, first of all, is that even an option to ship from the boutiques? Also, if they do allow shipping, can I just take the items to the airport the day before I fly back home, then go back to the boutiques and have them shipped my stuff home?

    • @tania.antonenkova
      @tania.antonenkova  Před 9 měsíci

      I’m not sure about the shipping! I only ordered from the us to ship from Europe but not from Europe to ship to the us

    Hi there! May I ask which airport you were at where you had to wait 2 hrs to try to get a stamp? One tip I wanted to share (which works at least at CDG Paris airport) is for higher priced items where you get the red light at the machine scanners, after you get the stamp from the customs officer, you can try scanning your form again at the machine scanner. If it was done properly, you will now get a green light which you should take a picture of to prove your form was validated. I know this is extra, over the top, but for higher priced items, I think it's worth it esp nowadays since you don't even mail anything and everything is done electronically so it's the only way to prove the form was properly validated.

      I just went through this in June. I had refund forms for both Global Blue and planet. There was a long line, but there were about 8 machines so it only took us about 10 minutes (at CDG). One of our forms had a larger purchase amount and it flagged us to go to the customs counter where we waited about 2 minutes. We had all items in our carryons but had not checked our luggage just in case. He didn’t even want to see the items. Just asked it in our carryon and stamped the form. By the time we got to our gate, I had an email stating it had been processed. All global blue refunds were processed and credited to my card in 48 hours. It has been over 45 days and even after contacting the planet one, still no refund. My tip is to be sure each place you receive the refund forms for is to ask the preparer if it has your credit card listed as the refund card. Also plan to arrive to the airport 3 hours early.

    Same experience! We almost missed our flight due to long lines so we didnt push it. I still had the tax refund forms with me though. Do you think its possible to mail the tax refund forms from US without the customs stamp?

    I had the same situation. It was cartier necklace, so you can imagine the refund amount. We’ve been told its impossible. BUT my husband tried same papers last time and the lady there was from his country. And she was nice and did the refund. Which means they CAN do it. They just don’t want to

    In Florence, there is an office where you can do the tax refund during your trip when you spend more than 5 thousands I think. I don’t remember the exact amount, but they treat you well and you can get that out of your mind. I don’t know if there are more offices like this in Europe.

    Sadly, I just got back from France. I travelled late so there were no line at Customs. I am very interested to know that Customs verified my items, yet the one that was the biggest purchase, I am not seeing the item listed. Customs verified two of my LV items and I am only seeing the one verified with less purchase. Is this normal or I have to wait some time for it to populate. The Custom guys were very friendly, and we had a great communication? Thank you for your video.

    Waiting 2 hours in a tax refund line just sounds insane! Could it be possible for you to actually head to a less crowded terminal to do it at that time? Sorry you had to forfeit your tax refund because of the airport's inefficiency.
    I did mine in CDG T1. I had a red light for one item of 6000 eur (you might be right on the 3000 and abv getting the red light because when I asked the SA they don't know what actually triggers a red light. They just said the same info as you shared - if it shows red I have to join the queue and then mail it out using the self return envelop). However I could be considered lucky there wasn't a crowd (or maybe this airport is more efficient in clearing lines quickly) as I didn't wait more than 5mins to get to the tax refund human. I showed him the paper and the item and I don't know what he did as there was no stamp whatsoever. Perhaps they keyed in something to their system? He just told me it's fine and no more action needed on my end and I just left without even dropping the global blue envelop in the mailbox. I got the refund in around 1-2 weeks after that.

      @tania.antonenkova  Před 9 měsíci

      Oh good to know! I hope they get away from the stamps and people. I was in Barcelona. Spain isn’t very efficient. In Madrid in the whole airport there’s only 1 tax free station! So if you are flying from a different terminal you have to cross the entire airport. I’m glad Paris is more efficient

      Hello, I had the same results. I don't see the item with the biggest purchase on my Global Blue purchases. Customs checked all my items, and they were really friendly and cool with me. He said I was good and verified all my items. Does this mean although it's not displaying, I might still receive my refund?

    Do you also have to pay additional tax upon return in the US? I read something like if it is above $800, you have to pay taxes upon your return to the US, is this true?

    I also would like to share my experience I just encountered for the first time with tax free. I am a US resident from NY and i flew from NY to Barcelona and then got on a cruise ship for 2 weeks that went directly back to NY. It is extremely difficult to find these tax free kiosks in cruise terminals so try to google the ports you’re arriving to in order to see if they have the kiosks and customs officers available. Luckily, I purchased Chanel sneakers in Marbella this summer and our cruise was docked in Gibraltar so that terminal had the kiosks but out of 6 ports only Gibraltar had it! So I got extremely lucky that I had no issues.

    Hi ☺️ I want to get information very urgently. Please see my message 🙏🙏🙏 My relatives are in Barcelona right now. They went there by ship and will buy electronic products. They will take the product and sail to Rome again. Their return from Rome to our country will be by plane. What steps should Barcelona and Rome follow in order to avoid problems when getting a tax refund on the product they purchased?
