    At the 9:32 mark you stated that if you get your form stamped you have to mail it in. This was not our experience when we flew back on August 26, 2022 from Frankfurt Germany. We bought some Louis Vuitton bags in Paris. Our experience was we had to get our form stamped at a place called the export confirmation. Then we take that stamped form to another counter called global blue tax free. Then at the global blue tax free counter we handed them the stamped form and they asked us how we wanted our refund. Either cash back or back on the credit card. Also you absolutely had to have the merchandise with you to show. We had a couple ahead of us that packed theirs in their checked baggage and were denied to get their form stamped. To also note there is a different counter for merchandise you buy and pack in your checked baggage. You open up your suitcases and the inspector has to see them. Then there is another counter for carry on merchandise. Be sure to go to the correct counter!! We wasted 25-30 minutes in line that was for Checked bags and they said if it’s carry on we had to go to a different location. Also note the customs counter does not label their signage whether it’s for checked bags or carry on bags for your flight. Hope this helps someone

I'm assuming they must be tied somehow and you will get your VAT refund from both flagged forms? and when you buy in the duty free area where the VAT is excluded, are there any fees you have to pay on these items like import duties when you enter the USA? I understand when you return to the USA that you have to declare all items and pay import fees on items totalling over $ 800, I think it's $800, but not sure if duty free items incur import duties or other taxes. I remember the refund showed on my credit card in a couple of weeks!

  • @EvelynEvette22
    @EvelynEvette22 Před měsícem

    I also a question whenever it comes to the VAT.. so if this is essentially a refund of taxes, are you paying basically that 12% on top of the list listed item at the store?
    For example, let’s say a Louis Vuitton bag is 2300 EUR would it be 2300+12% equaling 2576? That you pay at the Luis Vuitton store?
    And then you get the refund of $276?
    or is the price of the item already including the TAX?

    • @myclosettravels
      @myclosettravels  Před měsícem +1

      In Europe the Euro price already includes VAT. You get a portion of the VAT returned in your refund (it’s never 100% refund plus there are different processing fees depending on refund method). It all gets calculated on the paperwork!
