This will be good until Apple sues them and shuts down for violating their service.
That’s my concern as well.
@@halidox This application WILL NOT be open sourced.
@@clazarow1 did you make it
Sooner or later the EU will force Apple to make iMessage avaliable on other devices. Same as they are forced now to drop the stupid lightning cable and to allow other app stores on iPhones.
@@junoperberry I am an Alpha tester, so I know what's on the inside.
I don't really care for iPhone or imessage, but this is a good development
I just want to trick my cousins once and do a review.
I just want apple to add RCS so text between iPhone and Android are safe and has read receipts, reactions, and more without having to download an app like this.
God family group texts when family members have iPhones and you have Google Android and having to download every message it's annoying
Apple won't do that because then less people would buy iPhones. Many buy iPhones because of the iMessage features and they don't want to be a "green bubble". Excluding android users from iMessage is purposeful.
They could even keep the green bubbles if they wish to indicate that they aren't iMessage. Just gotta abolish the archaic SMS/MMS system
@@xbright0976 but that's what Whatsapp is for. It works on android and iphone equally well.
@@koreyb yes but iPhone users are stubborn little s**** who don't want to switch.
I like how this is big stuff for US and some other countries, Rest of them Don't really care about iMessage and have other default app.
Like WhatsApp in India, Brazil, UK,etc.
He mentioned whatsapp in the video, it will be integrated as well
True, in the world most iphone users prefer use whatsapp, twitter, even fb messenger
What other countries? Exactly? Only burgerland uses iMessage
@@Stevenmc8602 True but there's no demand for a new whatsapp client
This looks cool! My biggest concern is that Apple will try its hardest to take this down.
ye
I'm surprised they haven't already. Maybe waiting for them to release then hit them with a suit for whatever profits they made.
@@coolpoeteclassic apple 😂
As they should… what’s the point of wanting Apple features on android if it’s “better“
@@iCEBERG711 In my view it's not only about Imessages and its features as I actually would want to use it for its feature to combine whatsapp messages with regular messages. Don't know if imessages has that or not. Else I would not bother. Speaking as a casual device user that has no business to do with specific app tied to specific manufacturer.
Even if the iMessage functionality ends up not working out, this app still seems awesome if it will be able to unify all of the other messaging apps successfully
I hope this is open source, because it will be quite a privacy and security nightmare otherwise
How can it be? Won't they need to charge a subscription to support their hosting?
Open source does not mean free of charge. They can still do that if they want
I was told by the devs that it will NOT be open source.
They already mention in the video and privacy policy that messages are still end to end encrypted if the app you are using support it like WhatsApp. And they don't store user data.
@@metinhesenov yeah, it really doesn't matter what they say, , this need a deep security analysis, sounds kinda sketchy... payments, e-sim, a server in the middle? idk.
Wow This Is Awesome Thanks For Showcasing This Otherwise I will never knowed about this! excited for this to get realesed !
Truly, this would be a game changer. I don't think there's any way that apple lets this happen, but I'll be watching intently. iMessage is the only thing that keeps me on iOS (a validation of apples concerns I think), but I've long had android devices and prefer the platform.
a messaging app is what keeps you on a device? 😂🐑
@@LifeOfMikey1 You got me, random internet person! I am immediately going to reevaluate my life's choice vis a vis phones and operating systems, and generally my life in general. You've made me realize that I've hit an all time low point.
@@ZachGrabill gud
@@LifeOfMikey1 It's about compatibility. The main purpose of a phone is to communicate, and if everyone you know has an iPhone, and you have a phone that isn't compatible with an iPhone, you will have problems trying to communicate with everyone you know. MKBHD has a video on this: czcams.com/video/BuaKzm7Kq9Q/video.html
@@Chazbc He probably doesn't live in the US (I don't either but I am informed since I like to follow tech), so he doesn't know of the Green vs Blue Bubble conflict going on in the US, and Canada to a lesser extent.
I'm most excited for iMessage games and the fact that you can have all your message apps in one unified experience
This sounds way too good to be true.
I hope it's legit
It is legit. I'm currently an Alpha user. I can communicate with my family using iMessage, and I can read my WhatsApp messages in the app as well. Yes, it's little buggy, but I think everything will be alright in few weeks.
@@Tom_videa So what are they texting? Your email or your phone number?
@@ryanpatio552 right now, they are texting your email address. But there is an option to send them vCard with your name when you first contact them. I think there might be a plan to include phone number down in the line, but I'm not very sure, so I don't promise anything right now.
@@Tom_videa does airdrop work?
Super looking forward to this!
We here🔥🔥I'm so excited
Then apple will send an update that blocks sunbird.
Google would squash it like allo
This is dope. I'm excited for it
Wow can't wait for the finished version
It would be interesting if this app got RCS api from Google before the other big messaging apps (still holding out for textra)
You bring smiles 😊😊😊😊😊 really eager to get this
I love it bro keep up the good work and I love the video real true 👍
Really Nice Happy Holidays 😎👍
This sounds so good!
If they can pull this off, it would just be so amazing! The whole world has been waiting for such an app for so long at this point. I really like the idea of unified messages. We don't need all of those different messaging platforms. It is just communicating! There is no need to have 10 different apps to do it! Especially if it will also implement other functionality like payment - it will open doors for so much unity among people. Imagine just using one app for so much without worrying which OS to use or which exact app to use.
Sponsor is the secret of consistency
Hola. El tema es muy interesante ya que no sabía que había alguna forma de poder hacerlo. Muchas gracias.
This sounds way too good to be true.
I'm curious as to why Google didn't figure this out first 🧐
Because then Google would be sued
Norton 360 popped up saying malicious website when I hit the link. Idk now lol
@@treblemix_ maybe it's a bait & switch?
Get millions of people hooked and add malware later on
Just speculation though.
But at this rate, I'm not going to bother anymore. The current messaging apps work just fine
Google doesnt want to jeopardize 15 billion for its Search engine on Safari
@@treblemix_ It's not a virus or malicious, so you're okay if you want to try it lol It's 100% legit.
This app is hammering down all their corners! Wild! 🙀
whats the difference between a sunbird vs beeper? why choose one over the other?
Same as beeper, been on the waitlist for a while for sunbird. The biggest issue is the phone number. Hopefully they can figure it out with an esim
If you are willing to prepay for a year of beeper, they will give it to you right now. Just contact their customer service.
Google will not give them access to their api for rcs since they have gone so far too make their app this good already
Not really sure if I am a fan or not. Use both OSs and have started to really like RCS. Biggest concern is Apple will find a way to squash this. Or buy it and shelve it.
I love this concept work
Summer 2023 has already passed but it hasn't released yet 💀
Boom!!!
Trillion is back!
I didn't care about iMessage etc. I wasn't even going to watch this video. But when I saw it's gonna integrate with other messaging apps.. !!
Hopefully it'll work with Signal, I doubt it though.
I wouldn't trust this as i trust Signal
Still questionable, does the end to end encryption work between the sunbird server and the iphone recipient, because that's a huge one (only thing said so far is your message is encrypted when getting to sunbird's server).
Assuming that encryption to the recipient works, apple/google pay works, esim for iMessage integration is released, rcs gets released, this app will be a no brainer and worth even $50 because it supports others apps like whatsapp too. Next step would be to add support for signal users, then it would truly be the app to rule them all, and apple can't take the app down
Its end to end encryption. Signal coming next year. Its on their website and their discord is super active with the devs answering questions. A few hundred people are currently alpha testing including me. It works.
Sounds amazing

What's your keyboard theme? Can u share please looks good in this video at around 0:21 timestamp
Bro I would totally use this!!!
My guess is that they got a TON of old iPod 4s and 5s and hooked them up in a way that you can remotely run imessage on them and display it on your android phone. These old ipods and iphones are still capable of imessage and facetime even on iOS 6
All Apple needs to do is enable RCS support. Then any messages app can communicate properly with encryption.
8 months passed and it still shows early access with no way to download it....
Which watch are you wearing sir?
I live in Europe so I don't have imessage dependency but I know plenty of people in USA who would rather have android if not for imessage lock in with their friends n family. Another reason why apple will not allow this to function
This will be awesome if it goes ahead!
Hey can you ask them to use the material you design? The app would look way more cool.
I installed the Early Access from the Google Play Store and I can't get past the ads no matter whether I press Start, Next, or Menu.
That app is a fake app. Look at the publishers other apps. It's all 14 MB and in Early Access.
Will it show up on the person's phone as their contact & not a E-mail address like the other ones do?
im hype!
Please share Which phone u are using
Yeah it doesnt work without an apple device in tried and it said to enter a code sent over imessage if logged into your apple id on a apple device
Yes! Now I don’t need to check my iPad and my phone for iMessages and texts.
Hi Facundo, tried with my actual Apple ID and disconnected the service, I will try with a burn account. What I noticed is that the messages don't sync, I meant when I look in my other Apple devices I don't read the conversation I just initiated from the Android side, is this a bug? thanks
Will they have game pigeon support??
So their servers are macos virtual machines?
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

So much work for something based on vanity and people trying to fit in, also only for teens that live in the US, but i appreciate the info
It’s honestly millennials as well as Gen Z that hate green bubbles and more importantly you can’t send photos or videos that don’t look like shit between androids and iPhones and that’s extremely frustrating for android users
How do I use sunbird while I'm on the waitlist?
Can't you make a launcher with the jailbreak effects like what's on a iphone.
Cool 🙂
Maybe I can get my mom to use it.
Anyone know where I can get the APK for this? I've signed up for the waitlist, but I can't wait so I'm wondering if there is an APK I can get to skip the waitlist.
Air message and blue bubbles couldnt be sued due to the fact that it simply controls the mac from a distance and relays the information back. At the end of the day, apple is still getting used. As for Sunbird, my concern is that since this isn't the same situation, they may breach the legal barrier. However, if it turns out to be published and it works, this would be a game changer. But I guess we will have to wait and see what apple will do to combat this.
since the European Union is making apple open up iMessage anyway, there's not much the Cupertino company can do. Believe me, they'll be out of options quick.
This all depends on what the Sunbird Server is and how it works. If it is just a glorified Mac running iMessage (like in the case of blue bubbles) then I don't think Apple can do anything.
@@TrentonMatthews Will they still be able to block this in the US?
@@johnleone1996
I wish I had an answer for ya. It's a wait and see moving target sadly.
@Trenton Matthews If the servers are stationed within the EU, would American laws have any affect on availability in the US? Or should I just get a VPN and access it that way?
Not trying to be a Debbie downer but what is the use case for getting a separate messaging application on Android just to make iphone users happy. As a long time Android user , this whole blue vs green message thing is such a shallow and first world issue more specifically just a US issue as in other countries iMessage isn't the preferred messenger, in addition I do agree that there are some benefits such as sending videos etc but this concept I feel isn't important to the average android user.
Unfortunately some iphone users can't figure out how to add Android to the group chat. It becomes important when it's a business related chat..
I agree ... Apples users need that sense of self ingratiation.. I will pass.. Google messages does more than enough for me.. sending videos to apple people?? They use insta and Facebook as well so.. dub that need...
can you also use this on chromeos?
oh damn, hopefully this goes well
This seems great! The simple fact that apple refuses to add RCS to their walled garden so everyone can communicate effectively and efficiently is one of the main reasons people HATE APPLE. Really hope this works as described.
Cant wait to try! Signed up now
How can they be in talks with Google for RCS api? Textra is not even able to do that.
Hey all, as an Alpha tester, I am happy to confirm that this application is working for iMessaging on Android. In the future updates, we will be cracking down on the small details of iMessaging, including widgets and Game Pigeon, but that won't be until later. As we all discussed with the Alpha team, we are using a group chat with the Alpha users only and we know what the devs can work on with the system as we'll also adopt other services in the future, as the road map is an estimate to when we will release Sunbird to the public. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please let me know, and I will respond to many questions here. If I can't answer, I will forward them to a developer.
How do I know you're actually an alpha tester?
How about expanding the testing. I'm number 50,000 or so in line waiting
1) Is there a timeline for when they plan to implement sending iMessages thru your phone number for iMessage instead of your Apple ID? That’s the biggest drawback for me atm
2) is FaceTime really on the roadmap like this video says? I don’t see it listed as an upcoming feature on their site
3) any plans to add iOS emojis? Textra does this I believe
When will we be able to text imessage using our number? And when will you fully support rcs? That's the 2 features I need and am looking forward to.
@@michaeldhknight7569 did u get access now?
Can the Samsungs users contact iCloud users on this app if the iCloud user has no phone number?
If you have an invite. And tbh good luck on that. I signed up for beeper two years ago and I'm still waiting.
I really find this blue tick - green tick thing very funny
Honestly I don't think Apple would bother if the user base that use this are small. If this explodes in popularity and it causes Apple loss in profits then it's possible. Tho they could open source the server part so anyone can self host it.
Then again, the people getting this app would probably have never gotten an iphone in the first place. Unlike most I go back and forth but honestly prefer Android. Apples restrictions etc eventually tire me of iphones. I hope this works but I can live with the crappy video texts if it doesn't lol.
I really don’t understand how they’ve got around apples red tape
Would apple take it down ?
Here's the thing though, I've been on the waitlist for Sunbird for well over a month now, and my spot in line is STILL in the same spot it was a month ago. Sunbird wants us as users to spread the word about their app to jump space in line. I'm not doing it, because I don't even know if it works yet. Let me find out if it works before I start sending folks recommendation links just to jump the line.
It works. There is currently Alpha testing going on Discord (proud member here 😊). As soon as WhatsApp is fully implemented (currently WhatsApp works only on receiving basis), they will start rolling out beta. Presumably on the second half of January. Then, waitlist will start moving.
@@tomuchytil2 oh I don't have any doubts that it will probably work. I just don't like that in order for me to move up in the queue, they want me to share the app link. No, let me get on board, USE it, and THEN recommend it if I like it is all.
I'm on the waitlist, eager to try it 🔥
What number are you?
So... when is it coming out?
How do I install this on my Android camon 18 premier?
Let us know when this is "real"😉👏👏👏👏
I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and with the beeper I can receive the Imessage messages on my Apple Watch Ultra, but not the WhatsApp messages (but on my Samsung). Does anyone have a solution?
Sunbird if you’re seeing this, if there’s no option to change bubble color the default has to be blue. It just has to be. People want to feel like they’re using iMessage. Idk if it’s bc of the video but the bubble looks purplish?
Its blue. I'm using it. They have gold bubbles for sunbird to sunbird chats.
@@VRARInsider Can you give us the extracted APK then?
@@VRARInsider and is it legit?
@@thecapitalg no apk. Wouldn’t work if there was one. It’s legit tho
i swear that google aquires this when its complete
It's not out yet?
I cant even access your patron page from my country IP (Nigeria), had to use VPN
I see no reason to own an iPhone now, but Apple will see that as a threat.
Well i don’t have sunbird (although i’m on the waitlist) but i did get beeper which similarly provides imessage on android
Honestly I think it would just be better to buy a cheap old Mac that would probably be a lot safer
Anyway I could get iMessage games to work?
I'm guessing most of us outside the US don't really care, as we are using WhatsApp (I've switched to Signal though) or when you send an SMS you just use Google's app that supports RCS?
Outside of the US, it may depend if the user does carry RCS.
@@clazarow1 The other good thing with Signal is that it also included SMS financially as well.
i never used whatsapp because of the bad privacy

Have no desire to have iMessage on my device. I'm sure prior to going live Apple will shut them right down. Thing has to be riddled with copyright issues. There's no way Apple would allow this to go in the Play Store and for them to sell access to effectively their service.
