- THE DVD IS CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. THE ONLY CURRENT WAY TO WATCH IT IS THROUGH AMAZON PRIME. If demand for the DVD is high, the company will try to create more.
I plan to do a review on the original 3 hour version from 2005, along with the Director's Cut and Classic's cut as I've managed to get a hold of them through some other means, will probably also include True Story as well as one additional thing from the company. This may come out next year.
This is my first proper review on CZcams and was done for a contest which managed to get 13th place out of 42 entries. Due to this being a contest entry, some contest rules had to be included such as the 6 minute runtime and some forced jokes. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Ohh that sound effect from The Tripods still gives me the creeps. Happy to see its acknowledgement!
This looks like a low budget version of the "Great Martian War"...
Does look it. But this film came first before 'The Great Martian War' as it was first shown briefly in 2011 in a few independent cinemas before getting a 'tour' of the film at selected cinemas across the states of America in 2012 and finally getting a DVD/streaming release in mid 2013.
the martian tripods actually do make a noise. during the attack on london as well as during the attack on weybridge. they make this noise that sort of sounds like a mechanical humming or a engine of some sort. this sound can also be heard once during the thunderchild scene.
I loved that show The Tripods back in the 80's, not sure if I like the format going on here!
@the nerd shack Well it wasn't based on the book, it was based on another book series called "The Tripods."
the nerd shack Sort of a rip-off, but was done very well and I suggest reading the book series.
The FIRST Pendragon "War of the Worlds" film was a straight take on the H.G.Welles story, shot in pastel color, with a "you are there" feeling. That is the one I bought and I like it. However, due to poor reviews, Pendragon re-edited it with additional footage, to make it a "documentary" with "found footage" of when these events happened. Make sure you know what version you are buying!
It's not bad at all. The walking the field montage bit was quite funny.
Lots of effort went into this, and for what it is I love it.
Pretty good review mate, seems like a very interesting Mockumentary. It's like what Orson Wells did with a radio broadcast but at the time it was taken too seriously. I also like the walking in fields montage to Megaman music.
I quite liked this version, the one detail that did grate a bit though was that the "last living survivor" was supposedly filmed in 1965 when there would have still been thousands of people still around who would have clear memories from 1900. My great-grandfather was born in 1884 and would have been 16 years old in 1900, he saw Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee procession in 1897 and lived until 1982.
I would very much like to see a new war of the world's film to come out. That is true to the book and has very nice special effects
Alex Breedlove BBC is producing a mini series of war of the worlds
It's real, google it. It will be in vitorian era, just like the book
See my reply up above.
@@igorsantos6229 they ruined it with wokeness
@@knoxyish it ended up being garbage 😭
The great Martian war is my all-time favorite adaptation I love the Martian design and I just love the Hopeless feeling you get viewing it for the first time also the tripods were my all-time favorite tripod design and I really like the iron spiders like the idea of being in a dirty filthy trench with like 500 over guys and in a bunch of these iron monsters come in the middle of the night and like you have to stay still or else it kills you that idea just sends shivers down my spine
The blackmoon dub version is hilarious!😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Imagine if such a war between Aliens REALLY happened.
@@basicbodybuilding yeah cuz of Corona lol
Nice review, could I ask how did you get the tripods sounds?
I did not know this existed till ten minutes ago, and I really want to see it now. I'm glad I was willing to look past the fact it was made by Pendragon.
Best review on earth
Nice video ! Good informations !
While I love the Great Martian War, I gotta say I love the effects of the tripods more in this. They just look as if they were really there, causing such havoc. I guess that’s the pros of practical effects

I loved this movie. Ironic that the only person to make a better version than Time Hines' 2005 version would be Tim Hines himself.
Good
is there anywhere I can watch this online
on Amazon prime now
their walk tho
However I've use to be a fan of Jeff Wayne's musical version of the War Of The Worlds.
But It wasn't long before I became a Fan of Orson Welles' dramatisation of the War of the worlds by H.G. Wells.
They feared me
I survived the war of the worlds how? I had severe explosive laser sneezes
Johnson Delvetto I didn’t know that war of the world film 2005 was a true story 😱
Online free where?
Where can I get the DVD as I’m in the UK?
Only place to have gotten the DVD was from Pendragon Picture's website, but it has been out of print for a while now. So unless a demand surge encourages them, the only way to watch it is on Amazon Prime.
EuanEchidhog, Thank you, off to Amazon I go, unless I can find it online and download it.
Does anyone know the music he used in the outro?
I'm assuming you mean the closing credits? It is from the WOTW True Story soundtrack by Jamie Hall. czcams.com/video/dFUpxKA2FuE/video.html
@@EuanEchidhog thank you
This actully happande
Where is Nathaniel
how did u get that DVD copy??
metalhead nefarious I got the DVD from their website back when it was released. The DVD maybe out of stock, but best keep a eye on it.
Here is the website if you are still interested: www.waroftheworldsthetruestory.com/
EuanEchidhog cool, i tried ordering it last year, but it never came.
Where is the DVD ??!!
You can buy it at Amazon.
The only thing that i like in the movie is the martians
They look scari as f-
Nice review. Thanks for looking at this. I'm still not a fan of how the Martian war machines look (in either movie) as I prefer the Edward Gorey look. The heat rays didn't have any visible ray either, something filmmakers can't seem to do ... ever.
I live in America so sadly I will never be able to see this movie
Well, the film WAS made in America, so you can watch it (by either getting the Region-Free DVD or watching it on Amazon Prime).
I just watched it on Amazon Prime.
Carters Carnivorous Plants you can on amazon
It's on Prime
Must... have... Jeff... Wayne.... music
is it real or fake
Real
100% Real!
Martians came to earth in the mid-1890s and tried to kill us all. * facepalm *
*visible confusion*
Um fake. Mate.
Here's MY review: It was mainly well done BUT the excessive use of old war scenes- they simply overdid it. Sometimes less is more. Also too manic in the change from one scene to he next, to the next, -montage style. As he said -the acting was good and also the special effects were AT TIMES very convincing- (some foolish scenes in brief color claiming they were declassified... really??? From 1904???) BUT the one dreadful thing was the terrible acting of the old man in his interview looking back on all these things!! He at times seemed like he was just doing a bad dramatic reading - not at all like a real person remembering back 90 years. I say ditch the old guy and have another old man who is convincing like he actually lived through this and is remembering it all, do the part instead- Splice him in instead and re- introduce the movie together with some FX improvements and other streamlining. It could be a hit today in many markets. A more prophetic sobering final thought at the end always helps.
This narrator sounds like the nasally (and hilarious) James Acaster.
brah 2005 Spielberg Tripods will always be the best Tripods
Diesel Electric Razor
What about Jeff Mayne's musical version?
Hyperion I dont know the jeff wayne look to cartoon like for me. But thats my opinion on it
My favourite best tripod is the war of the worlds true story. Is more faithful...
I think 2005 the one that tom cruise played was in was the best
The sounds the 2005 tripods made were chilling.
хреновы плагиат the great martian war в отличие от оригинала а имено the great martian war ето гавно имеет биуджет стоимостью один ящик дешогого пива !!!
я шетаю круче the great martian war
Это не плагиат - этот фильм сняли в 2011, в прокат вышел в 2012. Great martian war вышла в 2013
