Dang!!! the Donner actually sounds pretty freakin great!!!! Didn’t expect that
no the donner guitar sounds like a guitar... no electric guitar "sounds" impressive, the speaker cabinet and mic do but the electric guitar has no effect on tone besides single coil vs humbucker...
Very impressive! Donner sounds great. I suppose with more fret work the Donner could a fierce competitor. 👍
pickups make no difference so the donner "sounds great" because its a guitar and any guitar that has humbuckers will sound the same

Good advice except the part about the intonation. That is an easy adjustment to correct that and many Fender guitars are sold not set up correctly regarding the same issues. There are many many instructional videos on youtube on how to set up or adjust the intonation and more. That's with the Allen wrenches are for folks. Adjusting the bridge saddles and the truss rod in the neck.

That strat is the guitar I remember when I was young watching your videos all those years ago when you covered welcome to the black parade! I'm glad to see you still exist! CZcams was so cool back then. Being able to connect to other guitar players via the internet was something else.
I’m coming from your Holy Orders / Guilty Gear cover and I was so surprised to see you pull out the same guitar you used ~13 years ago! Almost want to pick up a guitar to learn all my favorite Guilty Gear tracks - the newest one comes out in June!
Yeah, that was a while back! I actually made a 10x better updated version last year. It's such a good track so I had to revisit it! It's on my bandcamp on my Speedruns EP. A few other cool video game covers on that one too that aren't on my CZcams yet!

i think a better test for a guitar in this price range would've been better to test it through a budget amp like the Orange Crush 20 or the Vox Pathfinder 10.
other than that good demonstration, it definitely looks like a beginners guitar, but the build quality looks kinda cheap. obviously it's not gonna compare to a Fender,
but i think a Squier would've been an interesting comparison. particularly the Squier Affinity Strat, the Yamaha Pacifica would've been another good comparison.
Great color, has more glossy finish than a lake placid squire stratocaster.
Nice bit of pink Floyd playing.. Love those sections. Donner guitars are tremendous value. Can't think of many better starter guitars.

I want to get an acoustic guitar for my honey who is a beginner beginner. While I won't get him a Fender, I wanted some advice on a good beginner guitar. I think the Donner sounds quite good, y'all give fender too much praise.....I mean it's good but it also comes with minor faults too. I think in the guitar community, everyone just thinks expensive is better, and for a fact I think that's so wrong because I actually did not notice much difference from the two, not saying I didn't notice a difference but it's not that much so give praise to what praise is due......just sayin’
Of course people put more 'emotional value' into something that cost more. In reality, you're talking about strings and wood lol. Each is going to have its own voice and you really can't call one better or worse if they're both fully functional. It would be like saying one CHORD or note is better than another.
dude no electric guitar "sounds" better than another... simply put the only tonal difference from 1 electric to another is single coil or humbucker...

Nice review but a little biased, Hard to compare a thousand plus dollar strat to a 130.00 strat, the biggest difference in the playability issue is a compound radius versus a flat twelve compound radius, so of course it wouldn't play the same. Sound wise they both sound great. My opinion. Enjoyed the video.
Awesome video...i cant afford shit..my brother layed this Donner thing on me, sweet guitar...but yeah the D chord hard to get in tune to sing with...

Looks like my Donner DST-100L.
Another guitar tech special, basically $100 worth of bench practice. But I'll bet you could make that thing sing like a bird with some work. Maybe $50 worth of pots, caps, maybe FLEOR pickups, and a little neck oil. It's pretty, that's for sure.

I've never played that Yahama, so I can't really say. It's a but more expensive than this Donner, so if I had to guess I'd say it's slightly better. In general, you get what you pay for with guitars, and it's tough to find a guitar that plays well above it's price category. I think the Donner did pretty well, though!
You can’t go wrong with the Yamaha.
I've had $2k prs, esp, epi , many others the Donner is an advanced player guitar😅😅

They sound very similar, but when you feel it in your hands when your playing quick leads. Tuning stability, quality of the trem system etc. Thats where the quality difference is real noticable.
all electrics sound similar, and i would argue the price difference isnt worth it for the tuning stability/ quality of trem, as fender/gibson guitars are fairly overpriced for what they offer... fender obviously being the way better deal over gibson but still id argue that you are better off getting another brand of strat and upgrading the parts for a better deal...
Fender is great! I love fenders! But donner is awesome!

intonation issue? its already calibrated. you dont know how to tone..
i really dont see the value in trying to get "tone" demos... if you watch spectre sound studios video on pickups and tonewood you'l find out that electric guitars really dont sound different from one another...
