To answer the most common comment: Yes, obviously find the server with the lowest ping. What I meant by saying "a server with 100-150 ping" is that in Squad, unlike other games, you don't need to have 30 ping to have fun or even be competitive.
As low as possible is ideal.
Under 100 is great.
Under 150 is enjoyable.
Under 200 is playable.
I would choose a 150 ping server with a community I like over one I didn't like but got 50 ping.

facts bro
Lol the lowest ping server I can find is always like 90 ping it higher anyways
I haven't played yet but I want to go to that little marijuana patch at 7:50 lol
I'm about to play. This is the only game besides pubg that I've really decided to spend money on in a while
@@ricknavarro8181 I use to play always with 200 - 230 ping and it's fine
My first game yesterday I joined a squad called "For New Players" and the squad leader spent the entire game keeping us together and teaching us the basics. He was more professional than some people in my actual chain of command in the military.
Preeech
it's truly amazing when games have communities like this
bruh downloading rn lolol
Sounds like a pretty solid fellow to do that.
I envy you.. i just left a match being called a console boy and being yelled at for being new...
And remember, your first game you're gonna join an infantry squad, pick the pilot kit, and fly all 10 of the people in your heli into a tree 100m from main base.
The meta has changed to loading your logi exclusively with ammo and driving straight to the enemy’s first flag
like 80 % player in Arma 3 XD
100 meters??? You are giving me way too much credit sir!
i plan on getting squad soon and on my first game i will do this
This is the way
Another tip: try not to keep calling medic when you're down. Enemies can hear you and basically tells them that "there's more enemies near there"
I do this to scare enemies when I know no one is coming for me
@@adoringfan1226 big brain
Yea but it’s funny when they over run your fob and there working on taking it down and then suddenly they here Russian screaming.
Just started playing squad yesterday and I did this, I will now stop lol
@@adoringfan1226 BIG BRAIN>
Just started playing went to the infantry to tutorial everybody gangsta till the live fire exercise starts
When you get in a real game it changes to more like "Everybody gangsta til ENEMY ARMOR SPOTTED"
My ears tho omfg
I started playing a few days ago with a friend and just now got to try the tutorial. I actually killed myself to reset multiple times before I realized it was scripted to get shot at the end lol
Bro i jumped so high when that went down haha
Lamp I went through it my first time last night. I almost shitted myself 😂
I joined my first game and there were a bunch of squads with 1 person in it, and a couple with 8/9. I kept getting kicked from everysquad i joined, so i made my own so i didn't get kicked for not being in a squad. Within 30 seconds it's a full squad and me being 45 seconds into the game was a squad leader. Now I was a Squad Leader in real life, i know how it works, but here i am on the side of a cliff, not knowing anything about the game just seeing a bunch of people i don't know if they are friendly or not trying to figure the game out. I have no idea what the objectives were or where anything was. Commander not saying anything except complaining about team killing. So anyway. I had no idea what was going on, pretty similar to real life.
Having been an actual squad lead in the infantry, I can definitely say that the command was constantly on the net and you have no idea what you're talking about but hey, you were one in COD right?
You were team killing IRL too? damn lol
Have u actually Tk someone in real life?
Ha 🤣 I joined a squad, but the leader left, so I was next in line. No one wanted the leader role.
I was a (not sure if it translated correct) combat medic back in 09 in Helmand, so it felt natural to mech on the guys going down, instead of leading the squad 🤷🏼♂️🤭
I'm not build for leading. Only for chaking charge when people are going down.
But it was still fun, and I learned a few thing 🤷🏼♂️

If there was one thing that's most important, its having a mic and using it. Doesn't matter your skill level or how long you've played for. You only need a cheap crappy mic and its all good, the rest will follow.
Agree I hate players without mics usually they don't listen.
I need to work in my social anxiety lol
@@dux3644 true, I have a mic and I love playing games like this. But my social anxiety stops me every time.
@@dux3644 playing this game actually improved mine. Was hesitant to buy it at first but im glad I did. Just keep your head down, communicate enemy locations and focus on the objective! Can't go wrong.
I totally agree with this! Games where people don't use their mics are so boring and ruins the whole game as a whole
I've been playing on Squad since the kickstarter and even I didn't know the radio cost tickets. See, the video is useful for all people.
Keith Davis yeah, I came right after the kickstarter. Didnt play it much and now recently getting into it

Thank you for this. Every time I play I literally get stuck in the woods by myself, have no idea how anything works, and just get randomly killed by an enemy I never saw.
Same here bro, i asked for help but they told me to complete tutorial which i have completed about 3 times
Yes I can't see enemies and shot by them I never see
Getting shot by people you can't see is basically a fact of this game, but keep in mind this game isn't about kills unless you can wipe out a whole squad and ensure nobody can get revived. You can reduce being blindsided by trying to always keep in mind which direction the enemy would be coming from based on the locations of the roads and their main base or nearby FOBs. Always remember to look towards the ridges and horizons when outdoors, and doors and corners indoors. It will happen regardless though, there will be times when you're expecting the enemy to come from one way or even shooting at them and another squad or even just a lone guy sneaks up on you and shoots a bunch of your squadmates. The good news is that the lone wolves never really make a difference because of the revival mechanic. It's one of the most team oriented games I've ever played. Eventually it starts to click and you kill a T-72, BMP and a helicopter in the same match as heavy anti-tank, or get 50+ kills in one match as a machinegunner because you defended a point from two squads at the same time
If you get sniped from 3 countries away in a game like this, like you will in every game like this, its not necessarily because you weren't doing your job, but because someone else was doing there's well, there's not much you can do about stuff like that other than scurry around bushes and cover 24/7 like a little rat, it's just a part of the game
A wise man once said "Attack Flag".
Thats all you need to know!
I bought the game around November 2018 on a good sale. I only played around 4-5 hours or so and then stopped playing since I had other priorities at the time. I remember the SL telling me and some dude to go covert behind a tank under a bridge and blowing it up. I provided the guy ammo for his stuff and I felt really proud for helping. We then snuck up behind enemy lines, crawled prone for like 10 minutes and did some pretty sick parkour to get on top of a shack. We observed for a while as the remaining squad proceeded to ambush from the opposite direction and take out the FOB. Epic stuff, wish I could remember the guy's name. I slowly stopped playing games for a while and kind of forgot Squad, as my Tarkov addiction started. I then got reminded about it since many people I follow started doing streams for the game's launch! I'm thrilled to give the game another shot!

im soo glad this game is getting full release, i paid 15 quid for it back in 2016/17 and iv only played it a little, im finally getting into it now. its a top game.
Got it on sale about 18 months ago, it's been probably the best value game I've bought in a long time. Kind of wish I'd paid full price
Yeah I’ve put 20 hours in, I think it was beta 8 or whatever they called them. Keen to finally play it properly.

Also.. . don't forget to remind squad leader to drop a rally.... every 20 seconds.

"hey can get ammo box here"

you know that rally needs resupply now, that well, remind him for sure, but not every 20secs
My first game I played medic, and I think I did really well. Though of course my first game I ran out of field dressing, my team got annihilated by an enemy we couldn't see, and I was hiding behind a thing of hay bleeding out. Ahhhh, good times
Got my friend to buy squad now that 1.0 released. he now has 15 hours in the game and last night he went 26 and 2 with a rifleman. we enjoy making 5 man fob hunting squads and harrassing the enemies, we both are finnish so w ehave military training an try to use the commando tactics we've been taught there haha.
Just started playing Squad three weeks ago. Loving this game! Everyone plays with a mic, the vast majority of people are super nice and helpful with noob questions, and it's just really fun to play.
Appreciate the guides! I watched your AT guide like 3 times, and feel like I'm a well above average shot than most players with any LAT/HAT kit since I know how to range myself and use every scope effectively.

While im still learning the game one my best memories was actually in my first game where the squad lead told me to drive a apc of some sort. ( Not familiar with all the names yet) I was nervous at first but the guy shooting the apc was really nice and talked me trough everything. Still one of the best first impressions i've had in a mulitplayer game
Literally just played my first game (April 2022). Told my SL I was new, and he said “no worries, don’t worry about shooting anything, just stick with me and we’ll get you up to speed”. Wow. Crazy cool community.
I have 1.7k hours on squad and even now i can still learn basic things from this video, it applies to everybody,
Some real good point here though about not being afraid to ask for help or instructions!
Top tier MoiDawg!!
Just downloaded squad and played my first game, I just said it was my first time playing and everyone waited for me when I got confused on stuff and they were just really nice, great community, great game, great guide, and of course a great creator.
Thank you for uploading this video! I watched this before jumping into my first few games of Squad, and it helped understand a lot of what was going on, and allowed me to learn more during the game as well.
This was a very good overview. I had played squad back when it had first been in early access but then took a 2 year break and im just getting back into it. This was very helpful for getting back into it.
im almost 100 hours deep.... and still learning the ropes. This is a great video!
This was brilliant, even for someone with some hours in the game I learned a lot!
Thanks for uploading!
I’ve been playing Squad for over 4 years and this is the best damn tutorial for a noob or veteran to refresh his memory. Liked and Subscribed sir!
Thanks for this guidance. Jumped in my first couple of games yesterday and Quickly learned a good squad leader makes the game enjoyable. Found myself down a lot and never fired my rifle because I never saw the enemy.
Great video, thank you. I have about 10 hours and 4 kills total, so you got me on the "walk around for an hour not seeing anyone and getting shot a lot." I hardly ever see an enemy, and when I do it takes that split second to IDFoF, and I'm dead. I actually got picked up by my squad leader 6 times in one fight in one room that we were hanging onto waiting for reinforcements, I got one kill the entire game, but knocked 15 times! Very frustrating!!
It’s pretty rough on that point. That’s mostly what’s been happening to me unless I get into close quarters engagements and then I can do decent enough
awesome introduction I'm getting ready too start playing for the first time this video was very helpful in persuading me into pulling the trigger and getting into it!!
One of my favorite games was when I was pretty new.
I took SL because we had no other squads but I had just played enough to know how it works.
Everyone who joined my squad was green as grass.
We all took our time and ended up defending against a massive assault from the forest.
We all lined up on a knoll and I was using my binos and compass co-ordinates to direct my squads fire.
"infantry at 300, aim higher, good hits, Armour 340 (AT missile fires), good hit vehicle down".
We effectively won our team the game and all my guys were super psyched and it was a nice confidence booster.
I’ve played multiple games and I’m new to a lot of the pc controls. If you just ask someone in the squad what needs to be done and that you’re new. They’re always more than willing to help new players out! Lots of great people to meet on here!
Downloading now, thank you for a great introduction to Squad :)
I just bought squad to play with my son really appreciate this guide. We both love the game.
Been playing for a couple years. I think these videos are still so very good. I always reference back your vidz if I’ve been off for a while. I’d love a vid covering/included vehicle n helicopter names and nicknames used in games. Awesome work keep it going!
Tried playing this game for years but could never fully grasp what the hell I was working towards. Thank you SOOOO much for breaking it down in a manner I can fully understand, you have a gift my friend.
Coming from an Arma background and seeing what Squad was 4 years ago, it looks awesome now! Going to jump in with both feet :)
For people who don't have time to watch the full video and just want to know the basics do and don'ts:
1. Use your microphone and communicate with you squad and nearby teammates.
2. Don't create a squad if you don't intend to lead it.
3. Listen to your squad lead and in some cases fireteam leaders.
4. Don't pick important roles if you don't know how to use them, such as HAT. (This doesn't mean don't ever choose a role you want to learn)
5. When using your mic don't flood the squad radio with unnecessary info and or hot mic. Keep those things to local voip.
If I missed anything or you want to ask me about a certain thing in squad feel free to post a comment below :)
This was a good video to watch man. you seem like an honest guy, thats why i follow u on twitch aswell
great vid. i first played this game at release, and now 2021 its way different, with most players knowing exactly what theyre doing. its a really good game that fully makes up for its name
MoiGod dropping the hot knowledge for 1.0 --
Glad it finally has a proper tutorial. I last played a few years ago, back when the BMP was the most heavy hitting vehicle in the game. Most of the game was fairly straight forward... except the squad lead role. At the range, none of the SL functions could be used or accessed. So the only way to learn how to use them was in-game. That sucked, big time.
But I had a blast just being a rifleman and trying to be helpful. I was always that guy who would do the logi runs when needed, while the rest of the team was getting into fire fights. Also had fun as a medic, everyone LOVES a good medic. Nothing worse than going down, and the map shows your squad’s medic is being a lone wolf on the other side of the map 🤦♂️
Can testify, bought the game on Sunday and I've chosen medic for most games, I like steep learning curves and I told my squad I was new but when things got heavy and I was trying to field bandage and use my med kit and throwing stupid smokes.. Oh I'm so glad I bought this game. Had some fun role play moments and team building/meeting random people. Got to say this community is amazing, everyone so helpful.
Fun fact most people do not know, if you are a gunner in a MRAP or a vehicle with has mounted MG with cover, looking all the way up makes your guy duck and cover your head. I am fairly sure same works with bipods on guns like MG and marksman. Looking up or left or right will move your character/make them duck so up down pop shots are useful
I would recommend flicking to the map as frequently as possible.
That way at any given moment - you have complete situational awareness of your squad, where they're looking, enemy markers and more importantly - where the gaps are in your team's line.
This
also binding map to mouse4 or mouse5 if you have extra mouse buttons!
That’s it. I’m sold. I love not everyone can have a sniper. The ticket system is great. Better than BF. Not getting to spawn right on your squad.
The more new player guides the better!
Great work
I probably should have spent last night watching this video... but I dove all in yesterday. I learned so much, thankfully all the squads I’ve been on have been accepting. And I found I have a natural ability with the turret gunner position on tanks.
I'm only watching to hear him tell us that he streams a LOT of squad on twitch

This is a game that will bypass most gamers radar cause of its difficulty but when you truly learn how to play it, its the best shooter available right now. I had 40+ hours of just jumping into games, not understanding where to go, or following someones order into death and it was just not good. But when i stepped back a moment to try and try to learn the different modes and how to behave in a squad it got really really fun. The combat sitautions are so damn intense and when you pull off taking over a flag after intense battles its really a good feeling. That said, i really hope Squad devs put a more advanced tutorial into the game cause its a really confusing game. Just handling the map itself and understanding all the circles, icons can be really confusing.
As a Squad Vet, this is like the best beginner tutorial i saw so far, gj
7:48 This tip is SUPER IMPORTANT. Most of my Squad games as a noob have been bad, and most of those games start out with me getting impatient waiting and just making my own Squad without sufficient experience. Next time I play this game I will make sure to wait for squads to open up.
Thanks for the video!
I think an important note for new players is to forget what you know about "other" FPS games. Squad is definitely not like BF or CoD, and the meta is different from even Hell Let Loose for example. To avoid frustration or finding it "boring" you need to understand that it's not about the run and gun and not even about the kills, but quite literally about your squad, communication and working together tightly.
Every game I play on Squad in a communicating, well organized squad is amazing regardless of kills or even action sequences. This might seem counterintuitive to new players, but it's just the way it is. Trust me. There's a certain feeling that this game can give you, no other game can. (maybe old Project Reality as well)
You can spend an hour walking around, digging HABs and taking a few pot shots at enemies too far away to kill, and then get shot from a bush somewhere, and STILL love that experience. How does that work? Don't know. But just let go of your preconceived notions of FPS games, and let it happen.
Just starting out in the full release, I played early access a while back but I'm a complete noob. Just did about 5 rounds and I 100% agree with you. I had one round where I got 4 kills and made a nice stand, but it was useless in the grand scheme of things. The most fun I had was a different round where our squad leader organized us into building a huge defensive position, which trucks driving back and forth reinforcing. We had mortars, MG nests, a TOW on a roof, and an entire road block of sandbags. We just took pot shots at enemies far away but it was awesome and we held an effective defense for our team to stage out of.
Exactly. Some of my most fun games is when I joined in and the command just asked me to create a Logistics squad and go around refilling HABs and set up new ones.
is there a discord that i can join, I'm still a newbie and wants to learn
I have played about 100 hours of squad and really enjoying it. Just wanted to say thanks for the upload. Long playing Arma fan. Made up I got Squad. It brings a different feel to the tactical Simulator game. Great video. cheers
I just started over the pst weekend. The squad community is amazing.
Ive had this game since maybe 2017 but could never get into it as i just felt to intimidated joining a squad in fear of screwing stuff up for the team. Im now reinstalling it after all this time to see not only how far it has come but to see if i can learn the basics and find some people to have some fun with and enjoy the game. So i guess its time to squad up, P.T.F.O and shoot the shit out of some bad guys XD
I just started, and the thing I struggle with the most is knowing where to go. Even on the game mode that has a preset capture path, it wasn't clear at all to me what that path was by looking at the regular or command map.
If you don’t know where to go or spawn don’t be afraid to ask your squad lead
I get confused in this game a lot with the commands they give me and stuff but when you spawn try to spawn near your squad and follow where they go so you can be with them and know what’s going on

I have 80 hrs in squad from all the way back in 2016, and I love it, but I have yet to experience what vehicle gameplay is like, so I was hoping to ask, if I want to play a vehicle how should I start?
Generally, You have to join a separate vehicle squad, and only certain vehicle operator classes can use vehicles. The more common trucks are general use, I think. Just do the regular squad stuff with vehicles first before u try to specialize.

Played my first game yesterday and holy shit I was so lost lol glad to see there’s guys willing to help new players out.
Great tutorial Moi!
thanks man downloading now :)
Thanks bro. I can’t wait to be the next badass in squad
thanks man, you really helped me a lot
Crisp guide, thanks!
love it. Please more guide-videos !
I used to play "America's Army" back in v2.8.5 and this game looks ridiculously similar in terms of playstyle, cause larger maps were HUGE (for the time) and took lots of teamwork.
Even smaller maps like the SF maps were more tactical than run and gun.
Downloading this right now lmao
Awesome video!
Ive met a lot of really nice and cool people in squad so far. All my squad leaders have been super cool and not pretentious or dumb. I remember being with my SL in a vehicle driving around with another dude just joking around and singing songs on the long drive to the objective. It was fucking fun, and I love squad now
Pls continue we also need an advanced guide when you finish the basics
Thank you I just got the game and was so confused my first few games
thanks for gods work!
Very helpful video. Wasn't aware that losing a radio or vehicle costs tickets. Still watching videos and "play" on the training server before starting my first noob round
