    As a 3k plus hours player who runs a server, gotta say I loved this video and am sharing it in our discord currently, appreciate you helping explain seeding, cause that’s the biggest question we get everyday during the process. Good video man

    Another good one to point out is that people often say "the enemy/our radio is on bleed" rather than "FOB bleedout". I very rarely hear anyone say FOB instead of radio in this context, and most of the time it's "on bleed" instead of "bleedout". That could just be the culture of the servers I play on though!

    • @Gorlami14
      @Gorlami14  Před 2 lety +3

      Nope that's a great point! I say the exact same, "our radio is on bleed," in most cases.

  • @Chironex_Fleckeri
    @Chironex_Fleckeri Před 2 lety +3

    It's less of a thing now, but I love the "It's a ... BTR?!" Meme. The 30mm autocannon on the BTR and BMP-2 (I THINK) used to be the main terror on Squad. All autocannons on IFV really. It was that, mortars or TOW/KORNET (RU equivalent). That and mortars, and the ability to run two MG per squad. That was OP.
    Things have gotten better with updates and the labels in the "tickets" menu are really helpful for seeing exactly what vehicles are on a particular layer..and layer is another Squad term for map configuration. Different capture points active on different layers. Same map. Same boundaries.
    Squad has kept me coming back for almost 6 years. It never really gets old. I just play a match whenever I get the itch. And I find being a slow reacting adult doesn't hurt. You can usually outsmart the enemy in this game. It's easy to pick the game back up after months of not playing and have a monster round. That's just not possible with games like CSGO or R6. I love the ebb and flow of a good match. It's really intense but easy to enjoy if you can learn to appreciate losing a match. Always put up a fight, I say. You can learn something or improve some part of your gameplay with every match. Some matches are just going to be turds.
    Bonus tip for anyone: if you're late to a game and there's no open squad, create one called "Leftovers" or "Defense Only" . Low pressure for you as an SL in those circumstances, and you'll usually just have people spawning on HABS. It's a good chance to learn the SL Kit. Practic building stuff. Setting rallies. Just see how it all works. Practice relaying important info in command chat, cause your squad will probably be less chatty than one made at the game's start. This is how I got into SLing.
    How do you translate a really complex situation into a few words in just a few seconds? That's what a good SL does in command chat but also to his squad and any blueberries he finds himself in combat alongside. Be a leader. People get zoned into the combat and just need you to politely but firmly tell them, "hey let's disengage and run west so we can flank them". Being an SL will make you better at the game faster than anything else (note: you will not be getting as much firefight time), but it's also really exhausting and usually only super rewarding when you have dudes that are actually following orders. It's easy to SL leftovers because most of the FOB planning and early game moves on RAAS will have been done for you. RAAS means random advance and secure, the most popular game mode. Second would be invasion or maybe regular AAS where all capture points are visible at the start. Kinda makes games predictable, AAS. Invasion is good for firefight experience among some other things it helps you train. Play what you like, but RAAS is the way the game is designed to be played. It gets the most attention from the devs.

    With over 1k hours, and a bad memory, my brain has differentiated vehicles in a simplistic manner. I see the BTR as the dangerous Russian wheeled vehicle and the Stryker as the dangerous U.S. wheeled vehicle. The dangerous tracked vehicles are the Russian BMP and the U.S. Bradley. Once I learned to recognize these vehicles, because they fire exploding rounds, I quickly learned that tracked or wheeled vehicles that aren't these vehicles have a much smaller danger level to them. Main Battle tanks speak for themselves so I never had to learn to differentiate those. I think the hardest thing for new players is to differentiate the wheeled vehicles because they're the most common armor to encounter because their mobility. To most new players, something like a scout car looks like a BTR. I think the best way I learned to differentiate these vehicles is to look at the vehicle description list, the one that shows spawn timers, and observe all the vehicles on my own team by looking at the map. This allows a new player to realize that a scout car might look like a BTR but is actually labeled as a light vehicle symbol. I think a simple and detailed description of those symbols is going to help a new player more than anything because most people just don't have the patience to study each vehicle closely. I know I never had that patience and still don't after all this time. I simply have an unconscious response to threat level and what that vehicle is capable of to my heli or when I'm infantry,

    also for me, who primarily plays comp shooters like cs go and overwatch, when i first heard back cap, i thought it meant sneaking to enemy points in the backline and capping under their nose like people will do in overwatch in a final effort to win a point
    this led to multiple instances of an SL chewing me out because he asked me to back cap and i headed right into enemy territory onto a locked point i couldn't even cap yet because we didnt have the point control to lead there yet lol

    Love the video, nothing new for me but interesting to see, after 3k hours you tend to forget that newer players don't know all this stuff yet.
    btw some corrections I'd like to make:
    2:11 It is correct people refer to the hab as fob but technically this is not correct the fob is the whole radius from the radio as you stated, also everything disappears *except* fortifications (does not include emplacements)
    3:24 the dhska is only used by insurgents and militia the ones you showed in the picture is the "NSV" used by MEA and russians. when mounted to a vehicle (tigr or simir) its called "Kord"
    4:02 the picture you showed is an MTLB with 30mm however the do get an actual BTR but its the BTR-80.
    9:40 Although what you said is correct it might also be worth noting that players that are "noobs" although in your squad are sometimes referred to as blueberries because they are just as useful as one. however technically this is an incorrect usage.
    Outside of these tiny things I just mentioned its a great video so +1 sub for you:)

    Fun fact: In Finland MT-LB is often calleed "älli tälli" which is kinda hard to make accurate translation. Roughly it means "brain damage" or "brain hit". AFAIK the nickname came from the fact that MT-LB is very low APC and the crew and troops are sitting in very confined space. Combined with shitty suspension and rough terrain people inside often hits their heads on vehicles hull and structure. Also exiting the vehicle is almost a guarantee to hit your head on your way out.

    BTR besides being an actual designation for a specific vehicle is actually the same acronym as APC in English. That is why you will hear people calling all sorts of Russian Armored Personnel Carriers BTRs. It's basically saying it's a Soviet/Ru APC.
    BMP in the similar vein is the IFV acronym in Russian.

    an Infantry Fighting Vehicle are named as such because they are supposed to fight ALONG SIDE the Infantry. BTRs, like Bulldogs and Strykers, are not IFVs. They are APCs (armored personel carrier)

    • @Gorlami14
      @Gorlami14  Před 2 lety

      I never stated what their purpose was. I stated what they excel at in Squad. The game classes the 82A as an IFV. If you walk up to it in-game, its name is "BTR-82A IFV."

  • @Rhamnus
    @Rhamnus Před 2 lety

    The Scimitar technically isn't an IFV, an IFV is designed and equipped to primarily carry a combat infantry and will act as both the principal weapon system and mode of transport for the mechanized infantry squad. The Scimitar, lacking an infantry compartment altogether, is closer to a light tank, being an armored reconnaissance vehicle.

    • @Gorlami14
      @Gorlami14  Před 2 lety

      I completely agree with you. Its almost like a bigger, beefier scout car. They need to add a map mark that's different from IFV, like a tracked recon vehicle because right now everyone just uses the IFV mark.
