Pathfinder! Let's not forget how long that VQ engine has been around. It is tried and true, lots of R and D and has been rank one of the 10 best engines by ward for several years.
thanks for commenting my friend great input
The Kia and Hyundai turbo engines had a 1 million car recall. The engines catch fire.
I think both are great SUVS, but I will probably go with the Pathfinder just because of the 3.5 v6 engine has been around for a long time. I have driven many nissans over the years with the 3.5 and they were all great as far as power, reliability and cost of maintenance. Thank you for your video!
Nissan for me! Gotta have my pano roof and as a owner of a Rogue, those seats are definitely comfy.
They certainly are!
I have owned both and I like the Pathfinder and that is what I drive now. 2023
thats awesome thanks for watching james!
Pathfinder for me. It never gets lost and always finds the right path.
makes sense lmao love the pun
I like the Telluride but choose the Pathfinder ... Pathfinder all day for me.

Good choice with a new Pathfinder because I had a Sl trim drive really good and had all the safety features 😂👍

Pathfinder way better
great choice my guy
Pathfinder Platinum
thanks nee nee
Thank you. Great comparison and presentation.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm not really understanding how the Kia "does it better" with the ease of moving between 2nd and 3rd rows. The center console is easily removed from the pathfinder, and the fact that it's an option gives it the edge, in my opinion. Plus, you can get it with the caramel interior, which I personally love. Pathfinder gets my overall vote.
thanks for commenting after comparing both vehicles this is what I concluded. Our opinions differ and thats ok
I wonder what the difference in availability will be between the two? The last two years, Kia has had trouble meeting demand. Kia has been charging full price and some dealers a couple thousand more than full price. If Nissan can really crank out the Pathfinders and offer the customer deals on them, I can see Nissan out selling Kia Tellurides. Plus, generally, Nissan has better finance rates.
I like both vehicles. There is some things I like better on the Telluride and some things I like better on the Pathfinder.
all manufacturers seem to be in the same problem right now with inventory being low
The great selling point for the telluride is bang for your buck. But when you remove the value out of the equation and need to pay $70k for a telluride, no thanks!
I like the Pathfinder better and the great seats, comfort and tech seems better. Also trust Nissan’s reliability more and would think that the resale value will likely be better.
@@richardliu7086 Exactly why I went with a Pathfinder. I liked almost everything about the Telluride but dealers wanted $10k markup over MSRP up here in the PNW/Seattle area. Going with Nissan was an easy choice. Got my Platinum just under MSRP and for almost $15k less than the Telluride.
I love the pathfinder all the way around
thanks so much for commenting great choice
TY so much!! Lots of info! I’ll take the Pathfinder
great choice
I caved at towing. :-). But I have now owned my fourth Nissan. They have even sound.
thats great thanks for watching
Have to go with the Nissan on this one. Although I do like the center stack/gauge cluster better on the telluride. Kia harvested some German engineers from BMW and you can tell. Looks very much like my X3 as far as the center stack/gauges. But it does not have the ZF 8 speed or the twin turbo I4 or the I6 so it falls way short there. Its quite an accomplishment that the new pathfinder can take on the Telluride. After all, that SUV was ALL the rage just a few years back. But IMO, this looks like a better option. That quick release for the third row is inspiring. Should send the competition back to the drawing board as far as third row access. Just destroys the competition in that regard.
yes very easy to exit the back row
Have 2022 Pathfinder Platinum.....no way would I pay over MSRP for any car even Telluride
why would u ever pay for over MSRP?
@@carsunlocked yet people are doing it with the Telluride and other models!

Just bought the pathfinder platinum yesterday however mine doesn’t have the 12 inch gauge coaster, nor doses it have illuminated pathfinder door badge. However, it has accent lights which I kinda like
OHhhh these models are in canada therefore the features could be a little different
Well The telluride 2022 got bunch of features on sx...plus is you want the basic trim it get synthetic seats blind spot full 12 inch navigation rear parking and many other features that Nissan lack to give ....just $34000 for the telluride awd

More reliable at least they don't deny engine replacements warranty like hyundai and kia under 100k miles which they can't even make it over 70k with out issues with their engines there's a. Reason why lexus and toyota are always on top of kia
Pathfinder for sure !
great choice
Can you do a Palisade Calligraphy vs 2022 Pathfinder Platinum.
i can certainly try
i choose pathfinder , i have a 2018 pathfinder and a 2022 to come soon , great SUV and love the new look
Awesomeeee two in a row congrats on your new vehicle
I was debating between these 2 exact vehicles and ultimately settled on the Pathfinder. Kia dealers wanted an extra $10k over MSRP and wait 6 months for delivery but Nissan had the Platinum on-site, ready to go. Easy decision and F U Kia/Hyundai for allowing your dealers to operate like that.
well glad you are happy with the new pathfinder
Do you have to get captain seats on either? I may be old school but I like the extra seat with a full 2nd row.
no you can get a bench in the lower trim levels
@@carsunlocked damn but not the highest? Lame lol
@@markied2873 Also that bigger digital gauge cluster display is only available on the platinum. Worth paying the extra bucks just to get that.
@@HiPlains1 I chose the SL Premium primarely because I didn't want the digital gauge cluster! I am afraid of long-term problems ($$$) related to that... and I also wanted the bench seat. Why have an available 8 passengers and not get it! 😉

LOL...I watched this whole video and thought that it seemed slightly biased. Not bad but that you were quicker to point out good things about the Nissan and nit pick the Telluride then at the very end I find out you work at a Nissan dealership....makes sense now
i do work for Nissan however trying to be as little bias as possible
@@carsunlocked it wasn’t bad but there were a few instances where you pushed something that came down to preference as an advantage for the pathfinder. I watched the entire video so I didn’t not like it

@@carsunlocked I would make make a disclaimer statement at the start of the video for those that don’t know. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the advantages of your product; however, bring up front in the beginning means people don’t leave with a bad taste in their mouth.
@@mjsabie8517 i will consider that thank you
Thanks for the comparison. I would choose Nissan!!!!
Good choice!
I don't know which telluride you got. My telluride has the towing pkg, the rear hatch height adj. I'm 5'11" and adj. to 6'. Auto rear hatch open. I had the nissan and it's nice then I got the telluride. Telluride is definitely a step up. There is also a "sports mode" on the telluride which gives a better acceleration. You need the "prestige edition" mine came with towing pkg included. After having both, no way would I go back to nissan over my telluride.
P.S. The KIA warranty is insane! 10 yrs/100,000 powertrain. 60,000 bumper to bumper. Nissan doesn't come close. No other brand at this price point comes close. KIA stands behind their brand. OK review, but you missed a lot of details regarding KIA. I can say that because I had Pathfinder and now Telluride. Both rides are equally comfortable and quiet.
thanks for commenting yes kia has a great warranty, is there a reason for it?
@@carsunlocked I think the reason for KIA's exceptional warranty, relative to other warranties is: the "KIA" brand is still consciously considered by many a 2nd tier brand and many still subjectively don't put it in the brands of the Honda's, Toyota's, Nissans', etc. So KIA has to show that they will back their product/brand to convince the consumer that they can run with the more established brands. KIA is giving the consumer good peace of mind to trust their brand. KIa has really hit a grand slam with the Telluride. I get compliments all the time. For the price range and all the bells and whistles I have. It's extremely enjoyable. And the comfort for even 6 adults for a road trip I took, absolutely no complaints. Try 6 adults on a good distance road trip with any other mid size suv. Comfort is definitely not the same as KIA.

The Telluride was made with the Bigger Americans in mind. Hence the space and rear third row. Nobody loves to ride uncomfortable and cramped. KIA knows their market and consumers.
Everything is bigger in America
@@carsunlocked so true
At 114.7 inches of combined legroom, the Pathfinder is just as spacious and can fit people 6ft tall with all rows adjusted considerably.
@@trent7080 Well I would get the Rouge because I really don't have a need for a three row SUV. The New Grand Cherokee is coming the standard with two rows. It's nice.
@@trent7080 While agree on the overall dimensions, at 6'4" tall, I am looking for comfort for me as well as the passenger sitting behind me. The 2022 Kia Telluride has 41.4" front (which until I sit in one, may be too short for me) and 42.4" rear legroom. The Pathfinder has a longer front legroom at 44.3", but the rear legroom suffers significantly by comparison at only 35.5". The net of this is 83.8" of total legroom for the first two rows for the Telluride, compared with 79.8" for the Pathfinder. 3rd row is not a consideration for me in this comparison, which is why I am not bringing that into the mix. My position here is based on having my Chevrolet Tahoe with its front leg room being great, but the rear legroom is very much disappointing on what is a full size SUV, so I am very conscious if this when looking at other vehicle options. My two cents is that everyone test the seat configurations for yourself and passengers before thinking you have a winner based on measurements alone.
Pathfinder!

Why do you pick Telluride over the Pathfinder Ritchie Smith? And which Telluride trim do you have if I may ask? I just want to see which option is best for my future vehicle.
I have owned Kia and Hyundai in the past and both had reliability issues, so I’m not sure if I have to choose these brands again. One thing I’m sure, though, any Japanese vehicles are much reliable than any Kia or Hyundai.
I agree thanks so much for watching
I agree! I’m a Nissan girl for life. The 2022 is beautiful and the Pathfinder is an iconic car and always will be 💜
I have owned Toyota and Honda and Mazda and they all have had reliability issues and recalls. They are not the same quality Japanese cars we used to get. Kia is as reliable if not better.
If people want to blindly stick to a brand they know and not to actually try something new, I dont feel bad for them ... their loss.
MOZEN CAPTURE that’s interesting! We’ve had about 10 or more nissans that were from the 1990s on up. Some were built into amazing track/drift cars and others were daily drivers. No issues here. Have fun with your Kia, if it makes you happy, cool. I will stick with what I love and know will always be a reliable vehicle
@@Ruby-ev9ym good for you! again just because mine had recalls and yours didn't, it doesn't make a brand more reliable. there is a reason why Telluride has been picked up as the best in it's segment for 2 consecutive years. These are all based on millions of reports from real customers. not just one or two
but at the end of the day, you gotta pick what makes you happy. And that's Telluride for me. Doesn't mean I dont like the pathfinder.
Got my platinum red pathfinder .
congrats!
Pathfinder for me. I am somewhat biased as I just bought one in the Platinum trim.

excellent choice
I’m sorry to hear that.
Definitely prefer the look and interior of the Telluride and you totally missed that with the Telluride you can just approach the rear with your key fob and it will automatically open. No need to wave your foot.
yes I missed that we tried that and it didn't open this one might not have that
Don't worry it's why Kia gave that 10 year warranty cause they know their products are fault and would not last ..
@@carsunlocked of course it has that. That’s the sx night fall, it even comes in the EX smh, TURN IT ON, and tell the viewers the right thing before spreading false info.
@@carsunlocked The doors have to be locked for more than 15 seconds for the feature to work and it also has to be activated inside the vehicle options menu
MJSabie all of that sounds WAY too confusing and annoying to fuss with. I’m not a huge car tech kind of girl. I prefer a car that can tow and handle a bit of dirt.
Kia easy. But pathfinder isn't bad.
Just fyi the telly does open up the back with being behind it with the key for like 6 seconds I think. Don't have to wave your foot like most cars, so it does open hands free. At least the 2022, this is the 2021 so not totally sure it has that.
The Kia Telluride has the hands free lift gate. I think Kia calls it the "Smart Lift gate". However, what has to be done first for that feature to get used is it requires activation in one of the menus found in the driver instrument cluster screen. Then, after that there's a waiting period for it to open when you want it to open. In general when someone wants the lift gate to open, they want it to open right away by which ever command they choose. With the hands free foot activated lift gate there's no activation required. Also, there's no waiting period when the action should be done. As long as the key fob is with you just walk up to the vehicle, move your foot in a kicking motion under the middle part of the bumper or side to side motion depending on the vehicle and that's it. The lift gate will open. The lift gate will also close the same way. Very useful especially if someone's hands are full. The Kia Telluride's cousin Hyundai Palisade has it like that. Kia should've done the same thing.
@@jefferybaxter1225 I like the tellurides more. No need to go Bruce Lee under the car lol. Especially not good for older people in icy conditions trying to balance on one foot trying to get it open.
@@bengals098558 There are no martial arts tactics needed to open it the way other vehicles have it. Other things can be used to open it as long as the key fob is with you. When there is any type of motion it'll open. The way Kia has it for the Telluride no one will know that it has to be activated first. Some of the Kia salesman or sales woman might not know it either. Doing it the way Kia has it an older person would not bother to try it knowing that they have to go through menus to activate it. So, too much time. Also, too much time when it's to be put into action. Like what I said in my previous message a simple hands free feature like this shouldn't require time used to activate it and shouldn't require a time period to wait when it's to be put into effect. One thing we can agree on is that there are a variety of ways to open the lift gate now. Can be opened from the inside by the push of a button on the ceiling, pressing the button on the key fob, the hands free way with motion or the old way by pressing a button on the lift gate itself.
@@jefferybaxter1225 easy to activate. From the screen on the front but once it's on it stays on.
@@bengals098558 I know it's easy to activate due to seeing a demonstration of it from before. I think it was either two or three steps and that's it. At the same time the feature is hidden. Kia should've made it more open. Like what I said a select few to some of the sales reps at the dealer might not know that the feature is even there.
Definitely Pathfinder!
we got SL, Great fam suv vehicle!
Did you get a good price or full MSRP
I'm also considering buying a Pathfinder 2022. Do you happen to know how's that 3rd row in comparison to the Telluride once the 2nd seat is moved forward?
@@jjgreek1 full MSRP plus the add-ons feature, the SL package
@@GonzaReformado it has decent 3rd row leg room once you move the 2nd seat a little forward.
congrats on your new vehicle Jan!
well i assume telluride you tested is SX cause 54kcad=42kusd. it equips with auto trunk open feature when you just stand close enough to the trunk. plus you can actually set the height of telluride trunk door for your preference. for interior you didnt even mention the ambient light and bose system and if you upgrade to sxp trim you even get hud , nappa leather seat and second row ventilated seat.
this was the upgraded might sky package for 2021 it had all the top features
All those extras on the SXP would cost more than the Pathfinder and not be necessary at all .. Nissan gave you a bang for your buck and the Telluride didn't do that
@@carsunlocked BUT WHAT HE IS SAYING, YOU FORGOT TO METION THEM.
I drove both as well, and for me, the Telluride was far more refined than the Pathfinder. It’s an incredibly easy vehicle to drive and enjoy day to day. The technology and features are above and beyond the competition for the money. My only ding on Kia is that while they build a great vehicle, they have a woefully weak dealer network. Pulling into many Kia dealerships for service is like pulling up to Uncle Bob’s Lube Shop with two greasy mechanics and one seat beside the soda machine called the ‘customer lounge’. Kia needs to invest heavily in upgrading its dealerships if it’s going to sell service on its vehicles.
thanks for commenting great perspective from someone who drove both vehicles
Totally agree. I dealt with Kia service and you have nailed their customer service and now I deal with Nissan and much much better.
Is the Telluride bigger on the inside?
yes a ;little bit
I love my pathfinder
great to hear
Why are the ground clearance on these midsize SUV so low? It seems they are moving away from off-road capabilities. The ‘22 Mitsubishi Outlanders have more clearance at 8.4 inches.
I had an Infiniti FX35 which was considered to be a higher version of Nissan. The dash cover rose up like alligator skin, and I had to discount the trade-in value by $1500. Although they had a recall about it, I was never notified about it. Since then, no Infiniti or Nissan for me ever.
thats a shame my friend so KIA is your choice?
@@carsunlocked No I purchased an SQ5.
I had an FX45 and the recall was free to replace the dash. Not sure I'd abandon a brand over that reason, but to each his own.
Between the two which is more reliable? I've never own a non Japanese car.
the pathfinder for sure
I ended up going with the Pathfinder. It had the all-around features I needed and enough of the niceties where I felt it was a good value. I never drove a Telluride because I could never find one and they are currently too over-valued. I felt the Hyundai Palisade had a better interior but the drive was not as good as the Pathfinder. Plus, I need that extra towing power.
hey great input thanks so much for commenting and congrats on the new car

Good video comparison between the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder and the 2021 Kia Telluride. I would choose the Pathfinder. You are the only reviewer who likes Nissan’s 9 speed performance on CZcams. Everybody said Nissan’s version of this tranny was kind of hunting. Which could not help in 0-60 tests. Check alex on autos or red line review. Did you time them or went by the feel? I personally would prefer Nissan if not for that Jatsco transmission disaster. And now they assemble this 9 speed version of ZF… that reportedly does not shift right.
I have seen many positive comments watching other reviews. I did not time the shifts no I just stated my opinion my guy. If you are interested in buying it go try it for yourself
Shifting can be quickly addressed through a simple program. I bet nissan will fix this complimentary.
Nissan makes the best comfy seats, even in the small sunny, they just get the seats size right
they have a patent on their seats
Dont even bother, there is no competition here. Nissan just set the fastest recall ever for lose hood latches on this new pathfinder. While the telluride continues to be the most reliable three row suv on the market.
thanks for the input
The hood on my 2013 Pathfinder flutters like a butterfly above 60 mph. The latch has never failed, but it doesn't inspire confidence that it won't turn into a giant windbreak in the near future.

Might wanna add that the Telluride was beating everyone in this segment, even it's Hyundai owner. The 2022 new pathfinder took it's redesign from the Telluride in order to compete directly against it. Also I didn't see much adjustment in the telluride speed dialing. Maybe I missed it, but if your weren't driving in sport, you will of course not get the takeoff power your looking for.
thanks for commenting MR Boris great input
Took the words out my mouth lol. The 2022 Telluride is much nicer than the 2021 not that is bad. I don't understand why he didnt mention the Telluride is the #1 selling SUV. And as far a towing it has 1000 lbs more, but you need to mention that's not that big of difference to most people. At 5000 lbs you can tow a car on a car trailer. That's way more than most people would need.
I don't see any Telluride in the Pathfinder at all. I see bits of old/retro pathfinder and nothing else. The bigger bixier looks came from previous Parhfinder..before Hyundai was even building in the US.
