- Episode #3 of way of the hunter takes us back out to Nez Perce Valley to hunt some Mule Deer & Whitetail Deer with a new rifle! Today we got the Remington 783 in .243 and we test it out on the various deer species!

One feature please devs: adding the ability to nickname living animals so we can watch them grow and have stories about our harvests. Much like we do in real life. It would be cool to watch the same buck and then harvest him when he was ready
YES we definitely need this, this game has done so many "fist time a hunting game has done this" type things (several different calls from the same caller, a realistic circulatory system, bullets having cavity damage, realistic hit reactions I could go on), they could surely do this too

@@smashdtrash3432 yes, we need plaques so we can detail the hardships of finding and killing him, like IRL some hunters will put plaques on particularly "legendary" trophies detailing what gun they used when they killed it down to the minute, and how long they waited to be able to harvest the animal.
my grandpa had a massive(for the area) 10 point white tail with a plaque that told how many years he watched the deer grow and develop and how many more years he waited to kill it, what time he took the fatal shot, what caliber he used (.220 swift back when they were still legal for deer) and how far away it was. (147 yards by old school rangefinder)
All in all he went 3 seasons without killing anything just for a chance at what his friends though was a ghost. so he nicknamed it ghost and had it put on the plaque.
I’m so glad someone commented this I was thinking of this because I do it in real life with my whitetails and I change year by year the theme of the newest bucks that are mature enough to shoot I did UFC fighter nicknames a few years ago and hunted a buck I named platinum all season but was not able to seal the deal on him he outsmarted me every time for the whole season and I passed a few other really nice bucks but it’s so awesome to get your target buck if they add this to WOTH it would be incredible.
I'm sold. I'm getting this game as soon as I can. It has features I've only dreamed of having in a hunting game. You are right, it is like a mix of classic and cotw, but with its own special and unique twists. The fact that it leans more towards realism is the selling point for me. Definitely going to be watching more of these videos until I can experience my own game play
Thank you so much Scarecrow for demonstrating this game. I've been tremendously nervous that this game was going to make the same mistakes as COTW without building on any of the mistakes. Im seeing now those fears were unfounded and I have only seen just an hour of gameplay... actually realistic animal behaviors, animal trails, memorable locations that make excellent ambush locations, and especially the firearms performance. I cannot stress this enough: COTW has horrifically underpowered firearms leading to poor ammunition selection (soft point and polymer performance is reversed in real life in terms of penetration and expansion) and encourages poor shot placement due to the meta of spine shots only allowing ethical kills. Seeing a .243 not only drop a deer with a good lung shot, but penetrate both lungs AND exit the deer at 200 yards using standard ammunition is a breath of fresh air. Congratulations sir, you have sold me this game!
the fact they added arteries to the entire animal, the whole circulatory system has been modeled from jugular down to femoral.
I'm hoping the trails (stomped down grass) are a walk through area, kind of like a commonly used "road" for the animals. I say this because I think it would be cool to just watch that spot and look at the animals walking through at the same time every day. I really wanted it to come to COTW, but I don't see it happening. It would also be cool if and when they add blinds, to place one near the area and hunt it.
Please 🙏 mention that trail cameras would be huge for this game! If your wanting to track deer growth (or what ever species you choose to hunt). Trail cameras would litteraly be a game changer. Having a camera cam for set up. Choose a tree and then you get to view from what the trail camera sees and you can adjust it up down left and right to make it set up for a good photo chance.
This would be great, I hoped COTW would do it but I don't think they will. I hope WOTH adds trial cams.

This game looks really fun, one thing I was wondering was you have not been spotting the animals in these videos, so is spotting to get its information, a perk you have to unlock?
Flinter was doing it in his first video, so I think SC just hasn't figured it out yet.
You can do it at the beginning of the game with the hunters sense while using binocs.
Love what I see so far... the only thing that keeps getting me is that I'm use to being able to zoom when glassing with the binos lol
This game is so cool and I'm happy Scarecrow is playing it, But since I don't have the Xbox one X, PS5, or PC I can't play it but that is why I watch Scarecrow's vids:).

@@blitzhunts hunter sense doesnt even matter, its literally the same as the huntermate in classic just done differently.
hes just salty for some reason, acting like the huntermate is anymore realistic then hunter sense.

Is there a way to check the overall genetics rating/ fitness value of each species to see the impact that taking small mature animals has over time? Or is it more that you'll just notice it by playing for a while?
Does bullet cam show the shot or is it just the screen like we see when harvest

Loving the vids and this game does look good and a challenge. Love COTW still but finding it a bit too easy now after 65 days of playtime. One thing that does concern me is that if you find this quite tough and lose tracks, blood etc how are us norm players going to cope 🤔😬

Honestly Way Of The Hunter looks insane, and I’m sad it’s not going to be on game pass or anything, but I would still probably rather play this than COTW (for now)
I wonder if there will be rare fur types will make the game a lot more intense and hopefully will be harder to find if it does

In reality no living thing can survive a bullet that hits a main artery, you will just bleed out internally and die in matter of seconds … but is a game I guess they have to balance it

i’ve never hunted nor do i know much about hunting, but don’t hunters tag animals to make them easier to track and identify? if it isn’t in the game, that seems like it would be a neato feature

I know you don’t have guns unlocked but don’t shoot birds with rifles. Especially birds in flight haha. Shotguns for birds and some small game.

So apparently the few bad things about this game that I'm seeing so far is the way the birds drop when you shoot them and the scope zoomed out doesn't look good compared to COTW. Hopefully the other scopes are better than your first scope.
flinter bought one of the more expensive scopes and it looked WAY better, i think it was in one of his recent vids, it might have been on his live though i cant remember where i saw it on his channel.
@@nviwraith5271 I saw a video of another CZcamsr and he had a more expensive scope. It definitely looks better with a scope that is more zoomed in. I just wish that they followed COTW's path when it comes to scopes. That moment when you shoot and reload (bolt action rifles) and it blocks your view for a sec looks bad ngl.... Also the cone-shaped blood and foot tracker on COTW is better IMO.

@@nviwraith5271 Hopefully. It was really hard watching these CZcamsrs play it and thinking it's really hard to align an animal through that little scope. But at least the game doesn't look like a bust like Hunting Simulator 1 and 2. So I guess COTW has a competitor....

id rather have a little annoyance of scope eye relief getting in the way than sprinting around hotspot to hotspot farming animals all day like in COTW.
I dont think its a competitor to COTW btw, COTW is its own thing and WOTH is more like classic.
