10 Things to do in Madrid, Spain Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Greetings from Madrid, Spain. Hello hello. And this is a city we visited 2.5 years ago in the summer. We're back with my parents this time and we're going to be here for just a few days making a little travel guide and we hope you guys will join along. This one is going to be a little bit different because last time we were in Madrid we ran around like crazy. We're going to take it easy focus on the highlights. Focus on food. Delicious Spanish food. We hope you guys will enjoy our little tour of Madrid.
The armoury turned out to be a real highlight with weapons and armour dating back from the 16th and 17th centuries.
We caught a glimpse at the Almudena Cathedral and continued towards the Sabatini Gardens, which are located directly behind the palace.
After lunch, we visited the Temple of Debod. This is ancient Egyptian temple that was given to Spain as a sign of gratitude for their help in saving the Abu Simbel temples. It dates back to the 2nd century BC and it’s one of the few works of ancient Egyptian architecture that can be seen outside of Egypt.
Plaza Mayor is the main square in Madrid. It is lined with shops and cafes under its porticoes. It was just a skip over to one of the most popular food markets with visitors.
Buen Retiro is a large park located at the edge of the city centre. It belonged to the Spanish Monarchy until the late 19th century, when it became a public park, and it’s home to various gardens, sculptures, monuments and small palaces
One of the most iconic buildings found within the park is the Crystal Palace, made of glass and iron, which is used for art exhibits throughout the year.
This cafe will make you feel like you’ve been transported back to the late nineteenth century. The walls are covered in mirrors and wood panelling, the tables are of white marble, the chairs and banquettes are deep green in colour.
Last but not least, we finished off our visit with an evening stroll through Madrid, and that pretty much wraps our trip! The city clearly has much more to offer than we were able to cover in just 3 days, but we hope this Madrid travel guide gave you a few ideas of what you can do with a short break in the city. Wishing you happy travels and we’ll see you in the next video as we continue our travels through Spain!
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

Thanks! Totally agree.
After visiting 10 cities all nearby the Mediterenean coastline in Spain, I wish to live only in Barcelona or in Girona cities with my wit and love. I love Spain and it is unforgettable country with thousands of years of historical buildings. I can never forget Cadiz city, Algeciraz ship and good docks hugeness in the world comparable to Hong Kong in my late 2018 year , 1600 kms length and return journey.
Hope you're able to do that someday.
Pues vente a Madrid, you are sad😭
Ooh la la nice cinematic footage
Thank you very much!
😋😋😍😍
I was there in February
😋😋😍😍
That is really cool to hear! How was the weather during your visit?

Always inspiring videos. I'm looking to visit Madrid this coming spring. I loved Barcelona and, while I heard the capital is different, I'm sure it won't disappoint. I am craving some churros right know.

Merci Michel!
New subscriber. Great video.
Thank you! That is fantastic to hear!
Came here for nostalgic reasons. Been to Spain 4 times, but Madrid 3 times. Have friends who live there. From Madrid, you can take a train from Atocha Station on day trips. I recommend, Aranjuez, Toledo, El Escorial, Segovia. As well, weekend trips to Valencia, or Alicante/Benidorme. I plan to retire for a few years in Spain, probably Malaga. I have yet to make it to Barcelona. But it seems too touristy. I highly recommend Madrid.
Thank you! That is great suggestion about the day trips. Out of the ones you recommended we did a trip to Toldeo in the summer when it was 41 degrees outside! Malaga sounds like a great place to retire.
@@samuelandaudrey Yes, the heat. Unbearable at times. Glad for the lack of humidity. Have to take those siestas and walk along narrow streets protected from the sun. But, as a Canadian, sun and heat are nice for a change.
@@samuelandaudrey There are some amazing day trips from Malaga too: Seville (loved), Cordoba, Marabella, Granada. Ronda, and many more.
very nicely narrated and explained travel channel. keep it up guys.
they're so good!
Thank you very much!
Thank you! :)
On which month did you go to Madrid? It’s sunny but it seems it’s a little cold, so it’s likely not summer. Do you recommend going to Spain in the autumn or winter?
I just want to say that I really like your videos... it’s a balance of places must go, must see and must eat!
Thank you very much Siew!
Thanks guys, your video's very helpful and informative since we plan to visit Spain/Portugal, somewhere around September 2021, IF IF COVID YOU KNOW????? like to here more from you....

Hi Audrey, Do you have a brand of boot you can recommend for women for all of the walking?
Columbia and Merrell have good walking and hiking shoes.
Ive been invited to madrid but I suck at travelling. Really want to go but am so nervous about getting lost. It really affects my day to day life as I struggle in my own country. But a friend has asked me to go as ive been helping her out in the UK and dont want to hurt her feeling by backing out
There is s convent in Madrid that is run by nuns where you can purchase home made cookies. Talk about a life changing experience! You should check it out next time you’re in Madrid
Thanks for sharing that! We'll have to check that out the next time we're in Madrid.
There are lots of convents throughout Spain where the nuns make all sorts of sweets (everyone usually has a particular specialty, a signature sweet).
I'm going Spain by myself
That is great to hear!
Going to Madrid on the 11th jan .. how’s the weather like?

Gosh Madrid. Those parks. Kinda biggest free to visit city parks on Earth. Right?
(Also Prado is free to visit at least one day every week. Or not anymore?)
The parks in Madrid are incredible! Prada is still free once a week. We went with my parents at night :)
Once a week? It is free from 6pm to 8pm everyday (5pm to 7pm on Sundays)

The weather in madrid is so cold
Right?
Only in the winter. It is extremely hot in the summer.
An average winter day like today (01/31/2019): sunny, between 4ºC and 13ºC, according my weather application (Android).

Camera name??
We use a Panasonic GH5 as our main camera and Canon G7X as our secondary one.
✌️🇪🇸
Thanks Mario!
In the part of Spain where I live, we call "churros" to what in Madrid call "porras" and "churros madrileños" (Madrid's churros) to what in Madrid simply call "churros". We reserve the name "porra" only to the last part of an entire "churros roll", which is the denser and most rounded part of it.
Oh thanks for letting us know
The only thing i hate is that Chicago word series t shirt because I'm a Dodgers fan I'm from Los Angeles!
Hahaha...you guys are due for series title soon
I like went you come back late home and those Big doors are close and you have to Clap and the night guart come and open the door for you because the are the only one whit the key.churros the are deliccios, can you tell me if they still close all the store ad mid day for a siesta?
Thank you thank you👵😘
Thank you! The churros are delicious! There is still very much a siesta time in Madrid. Especially in the summer when it is super hot.
Your dad looks like Robert De Niro
Thank you! Hahaha...he kind of does
Omg Audrey you’re beautiful you look like Jessica Biel
