Godzilla was just a dinosaur-like creature when we first see him at Odo Island. When we see him again and he's gotten bigger, it's because of the American's nuclear tests on Bikini Atoll, where the radiation mutated Godzilla and he got bigger as a result.

    • @rodgill9376
      @rodgill9376 Před měsícem +42

Godzilla already didn’t seem to like humanity beforehand, but once he got mutated, his contempt became outright hatred and misanthropic.
Godzilla seems to blame them for his mutation and that’s why he’s so outlandishly violent and destructive.

@@rodgill9376I think after the Odo attack Godzilla was laying dormant during that time. I actually think Bikini Atoll was where he lived & most likely was resting/ sleeping only to have a nuclear blast awaken him. It didnt help that when ships ran into him during that time that they kept attacking him which only fueled his rage.

It was not entirely because of the radiation, but rather because of his regeneration, the explosion of the bomb damaged his body immeasurably and when he began to regenerate he did not stop, he continued and continued regenerating without stopping until he adopted a new form.

If you were a Kamikaze Pilot who came back alive, some people thought of you as a coward. At the same time, there were also people in Japan who did not agree with the whole "die for your country" idea. Many of them wanted to live, and believed suicide was a waste of life, even if it involved defending your country.
Shikashika suffered from PTSD throughout most of this movie, Godzilla was meant to represent that.

As for the ships, yep, every single named ship were among the few to survive the war in reality: cruiser Takao, destroyers Yukikaze, Hibiki, Yuukaze, and Keyaki, frigate Ikuno, and minelayer Katashima, along with some unnamed No.13-class subchasers.
We also see Chi-To tanks defending Tokyo, which like the Shinden were a late-war project which never got to see combat.

The main reason the cost for production was so low was that most of what you are seeing is practical effects: model ships, buildings, water pools, film overlay, rear art projection, etc. This is why it is so mind blowing. I'm Japanese and I'm not good at English, but after watching your video I learned that the Americans who used nuclear bombs are the most ignorant people in the world about nuclear weapons.
Shikishima was exposed to black rain due to the huge explosion caused by the beam of light released by Godzilla.
Because black rain contains large amounts of radioactivity, people who are directly exposed to this rain suffer from acute radiation injuries such as hair loss, heavy bleeding from the gums, bloody stools, and massive hematemesis caused by acute leukemia.
Noriko was infected with Godzilla cells, but Shikishima's life was also in danger.
Godzilla killed 30,000 people, but this number is likely to be much higher.
That's what this story is about.

      I am also Japanese.
Probably most people on Earth don't know much about nuclear bombs. Since our country is the only country on Earth that has been bombed, Japanese people know more about nuclear bombs. So I think it's inevitable that Americans don't know much about nuclear bombs. Besides, these youtubers were not the ones who invented or dropped the nuclear bomb. Their ignorance may be inevitable.
But I'm sure there are Americans who know a lot about nuclear bombs.
And what we Japanese can do is share that knowledge accurately.
If that's the case, I think it's better to avoid looking down on the ignorance of others.
I believe that discussing and sharing knowledge in this way is good for both sides. That's all I wanted to say.

If this movie made you feel a certain way and made you cry or wanting to cry, I’d say that it’s done it’s job! But if you would had told me then that a Godzilla movie of all things would do this to you, I would had never believed it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve cried quite a few times watching this movie.
Godzilla Minus One was worth the hype and I’m enjoying watching people reacting to it. Unlike most Kajiu movies, I never really cared about the human characters. I found most of them rather annoying, unlikeable, pretentious or uninteresting. Minus One is one of those very rare exceptions. I truly cared about the human characters in this movie and wanted them to live! As for Godzilla, he was a fucking menace in this movie. It’s probably the most angry and pissed off I’ve ever seen him. Even moreso than his original counterpart. Godzilla was not HAVING it in this movie and wanted to kill them all so badly. He was terrifying and badass.

For a movie thats very dark and somber in tone, with only a few scenes of subtle humor, i heard a whole lotta laughing and gigglying going on...even during very serious scenes. I know to most casual audiences that a lot of Godzilla films have been labeled as campy or for kids and "geeks", but this film harkened back to the 54' original in that it dealt with the residual effects of post WWII Japan.
I woulda thought you guys were watching a comedy if i just listened to yall commentary and not know what film that was being watched.

If you remember in some of the movies, they said that Godzilla used to be a dinosaur of some sorts. It was mutated from the radioactivity of the atomic bomb testing. Basically, the first scene with Godzilla is the Godzillasaur.
This movie has done a lot of callbacks from the 1954 movie
This movie had the best visuals out of anything, which is why it one an Oscar for it
Godzilla's healing factor is a legendary, as the movie is explained when he heals from a wound. It looks like nothing happened to it at all, which is why the special effects look like it's doing damage to him, but in reality it's not.
The atomic breath literally blew me away when it caused an actual atomic explosion. I thought it would just be a beam, but he was firing off condensed atomic energy that would concentrate on one point and then boom!
I love that they used his theme on three separate occasions and it matched so well with every scene
The director said that the girl has Godzilla cells meaning there could be a possibility she will get a mutation it could be physical or even mental
Also, "monster ray"? 😂 Godzilla's atomic breath comes from within due to the fact that he was exposed to radiation from the atomic bombs as well as hydrogen bombs. Godzilla is the representation of the misuse of nuclear weaponry, and this movie represents the lingering effects of it

Japanese Writer/Director, Takashi Yamazaki, used Dates to mark historical references of Post War Japan. Also, using props and scenes of historical facts. Survivors of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing of March 10th 1945", mankind's worst, more casualties in one night and lost in history to the Hiroshima Bomb. The Black Market scene with the "Hustler's and Harlots", to introduce Noriko & Akiko to Koichi is brilliant. The Warships and Rear Propeller Plane are historical facts. The "Takao" was involved in the attack of Pearl Harbor. Koichi's '37 Japanese manufactured Harley Davidson Motorcycle is a favorite. Very cool. Too many historical references to list. Akiko's stuffed animal must be a historical toy too, lol. Noticed these things after a second viewing, ignoring the subtitles. A great story around "Gojira" the Japanese Monster.
