I mean that mostly comes down to the fact that we haven’t personally the process that creates paradox. A cool idea to show this would have been to have a time where the past and future paradox swap so when you find the rival legendary it has transformed from a copy into its other counterpart. But Pokémon wouldn’t do that

One thing I would like to point out about cyclizar is the fact that being an staple of Paldea's identity could come from the "Lagarto Verdinegro" a lizard commonly found throughout the Iberian Penninsula that is considered for many Spanish people to be a candidate to replace the bull as the national animal.
Lagarto Verdinegro meaning Green-Black Lizard which are the primary colors of Cyclizar.

Kinda weird you didn’t talk about their abilities, Orichalcum Pulse, and Hadron Engine. Orichalcum being the mythical element, and is believed to be a mixture of gold and copper. And Hadron Engine, named likely after the Large Hadron Collider, being Miraidon’s Engine, meaning it has achieved a near perfect energy source, the very power of the Big Bang.

I don't know if it's true, as what I "know" is just from online people repeating it constantly (and not from reading/researching the topic myself)
But apparently, Atlantis (which is the in-gamecode name for Area Zero) was said in some tales to have access to Orichalcum and have tech advanced enough that they """knew""" about Hadrons.
For the hadron part, I placed the """"" cuz I doubt it's hadrons in the way we actually know them/use the word. Most likely Greeks used the word for a hypothecal something that they hadn't personally seen and then stated that Atlantis actually had it, similar to how they """knew""" about atoms but not really, and then we adopted "atom" as a term for a more appropiated something that better fits what their idea was. (Like how we don't have teleportation but we can make stories where someone actually have it, understands it, and knows how to propertly implement it)

Cyclizar has always been a fun Pokémon for me. Being a bike lizard is fine and all, but the fact it’s normal dragon is fun. Unlike the other normal dragon, Cyclizar is a dragon that was domesticated. It liked humans a lot, the body heat they produced, and ended up having a symbiotic relationship with humans being their ride. So while still having draconic powers still deep within them, they have been tamed and became the equivalent of dogs and cats. Which I do love to imagine that since they like human’s body heat, they would curl up around their trainer when they sleep to both protect their trainer, and absorb their body heat.
Also yeah, Miraidon being Roko’s Basilisk IS pretty terrifying of it being realized. A robotic serpent that is made and completed, and could do ANYTHING.

Look at White Forest vs Black City
Or how Opelucid City in Black had futuristic vibes and glowing parts
In White, the same city was old, run down, and treated with respect.
In B2W2, the Desert Route (4) in White2 had abandoned Ruins excavated, where in Black2 they tried to fill it with more houses.
Team Plazma itself Knights that Flew around on a futuristic pirate ship.
Reshiram was an old school flame-burning stove.
Zekrom a top of the line electric generator.
Genesect is an ANCIENT extinct Pokémon revived with modern technology and retrofitted with "advanced" technology.
The Fossils were* the oldest fossils at that point--"ancestors" to modern Pokémon.
(Due to paleontological discoveries, this is no longer true.)
Even minor differences in some species sort of~ reflect Past vs Future, if a bit of a stretch.
The Klink line (Living gears is weird, they seem to have inspired and existed back in Galar BEFORE the Industrial Revolution)
Litwick's family (Moving from old candles to street lamps to fancy chandeliers shows progression)
Timburr's line moves through the building materials Evolution--Simple wood, to strong steel beams, to special concrete to strengthen buildings further.
Even with new information from Legends: Arceus and SV, new Unova stuff still supports Past v Future in some older Version-Exclusive Counterparts/Pairs:
      - Zoroark were once extinct; Cinccino are almost supporting overpopulation numbers
      - Braviary were extremely weak to Mandibuzz; they had to change Type at some point in Unova
      - Lilligant used to be weak (Fighting) to Whimsicott (Fairy); Both now compete for Human attention
      - Solosis seem to be the best Pokémon to study for understanding Evolution of single-celled organisms; Gothorita look into and tell the Future--with Gothitelle giving visions of beauty and heartbreak of the End of all things...
      - In Galar Darmanitan are said to be in low numbers; and have lost the Ability to use their special organs that produce fire--they're Dormant. (Until in "Zen Mode"); where Humans used to use Unovan Darumaka's droppings similar to coal to keep their houses warm before insulation, HVAC, etc.)
      - Sigilyth protect Ancient ruins but no amount of technology has EVER been able to replicate this Pokémon.
      - Golett and Golurk were built by an ancient civilization and no present research has identified HOW they continue to Function.
      - The Pawniard line are almost like robots, but they're also chess pieces as well as Samurai and/or knights.
      - Accelgor and Escavalier aren't version-exclusive, but they reflect the Team Plasma differences: Ninjas and Knights (specifically the Shadow Triad)
(Plus, Reshiram and Zekrom seem to directly be connected to or influenced/by? the Paradox duo?... A Dragon that exudes flames and burned the Region, and A Dragon that creates electricity and electrocuted the Region?...)
      Reshiram - Dragon/Fire (Turboblaze)
      Koraidon - Fighting/Dragon (Orichalcum Pulse)
      Zekrom - Dragon/Electric (Teravolt)
      Miraidon - Electric/Dragon (Hadron Engine)
      It's a really weird parallel/paradox(?)
Just seems like they AREN'T going to just make "Regular" Remakes for Black & White or B2W2?...
(Maybe a Legends Game pair? Where one is set in the Ancient Past, and the other in the Distant Future?)
(Or tie a Legends game based in Johto+Kanto into the story OF BW3?...)

Further reinforced by the strong Chinese themes found abundantly throughout Scarlet & Violet, especially regarding the four obvious example Legendary Pokemon. Even Miraidon can be equivocated to 螣蛇 ("t'eng-she"), a flying "dragon snake" in Chinese mythology which is known to soar into the clouds and in some tellings brings lightning. Likewise, Koraidon may take influence additionally from the "dilong", a Chinese earth dragon that was paired with tianlong (a heavenly dragon, which could be another reference for Miraidon and fits their duality) or a panlong.
Further, both dragons could take influence from what is believed to be a typo in an old biographical account where it is described as the boat of the subject (君才 General Juncai) as having two dragons (「雙龍」/ "shuanglung") at its side, which might have been a typo where the author meant to say 「雙輪 」("shuanglun") which means "two wheels" (such as with a paddleboat).

When you put their names together (minus the king and iron parts) you get Winged Serpent aka Quetzalcoatl one of the most significant gods in Mesoamerican culture. I always assumed the reason the pokedex doesnt line up with the behavior we see in the player’s miraidon is because that pokedex entry is from Scarlett. The only way to get a miraidon in Scarlett is for a player with Violet to trade the second miraidon, the one known to have killed Turo and is highly territorial.

Because you, a HUMAN, healed it, helped it achieve its full potential, helped it overcome its rival, and showed it compassion, the PLAYER'S Miraidon would then be inclined to help humanity. Its personality is even described as being "passive."
AI Turo's Miraidon, the one in the final fight of the main story and later hangs in Area Zero for you to catch that... THING would have a personality closer to that of what Roko described on July 23, 2010. There’s so much more to their inspiration! : Carl Jung is one big piece of it - he has a book about flying DISKS called Flying Saucers A Modern Myth Of Things Seen In The Skies that explains a lot about the lore of Scarlet and Violet and has a passage about “the frequent substitution of automobiles and aeroplanes for animals and monsters in modern dreams”
Carl Jung was inspired by Plato, who also wrote about a Demiurge, which, if you Google, you’ll see is a serpent that evokes a similarish design to Koraidon & Miraidon and is also related to cataclysms and the serpent of the Garden of Eden.
AND ALSO the airplane design of Koraidon & Miraidon is inspired by real-world Admiral Richard E. Byrd who flew a plane in a story that is a total parallel to Heath’s.
I’m working on a video series about this that you can watch on my channel. Parts 1 & 2 are already both up in one video! And I will be giving a shoutout to you Lockstin & Gnoggin, cause your theories about alchemy in Pokémon helped me become aware of so many things - thanks!

  • @Highstar25
    @Highstar25 Před 8 měsíci +6

Okay theory time (with DLC spoilers watch out):
This first one is very likely imo and will probably be part of the DLC's plot, but my assumption is that the Loyal Three are all paradox pokemon. The teal mask (that amplifies tera energy) was in Kieran's possession when he accidentally revived the loyal three. What did kieran want at that moment? To prove that the loyal three are evil while ogerpon is a good guy. And sure enough, the pokemon that appear at his moment of need are saturday morning cartoon villains, exactly what a child like him would imagine 'baddies' to look and behave like. Of course, while these paradoxes are recreations of pokemon that existed in the past, they are neither truly ancient nor futuristic, as this imagined trio had nothing to do with Sada and Turo's delusions about time travel but a different scenario altogether.
I think this is likely the direction that the 'secret of area zero' DLC will go concerning Kieran's continued story.
Now for a more bonkers theory:
Regieleki and Regidrago are also time-based paradoxes. One is made out of an ancient dragon's skull that resembles Charizard but much, much bigger (as if gigantamaxed) while the other is made out of... literal electricity, a substance that with current or ancient tech would be literally impossible to sculpt a golem out of. They are also mutually exclusive, you can only choose to create/encounter one of the two in a single save file.
We've seen shrines built to contain the regi trio and regigigas no fewer than three times in the series, in hoenn, Sinnoh/Hisui and even some in Johto in HGSS, yet none except the ruins in the crown tundra reference the other two regis in any way, even the Hisui ones that were implemented when these pokemon already existed. The two galar regis are definitively not part of the regi collective, as you need the primary three to even summon one of the two newcomers.
In addition, Regigiga's body has three sets of eyes on it's torso, one pair for each of the regi trio. Nothing representing eleki or drago being related to him at all.
So what if one of the explorers (be they modern or ancient) investigating area zero was hoping to find more ancient ruins like those in the other regions? He may have returned with one or both of these 'new' golems without realising that they actually never existed in ancient times and were created from his imagination, and brought them to Galar to join the rest of the collection. Alternatively they might not even be inside the split decision ruins until the player makes that 'decision', which in turn causes a re-creation of one of these pokemon. The puzzle required to do so even involves lighting up floor tiles that may well be made of a glowing crystal.
The final DLC for sword and shield making a subtle call-forward to the next game's theme would be pretty cool!

26:05 With this definition in mind, as well as Miraidon being a serpent, I don't think an urban legend like this is even necessary. Heck, the thought experiment was probably inspired by this, with me of course referring to the serpent and the tree of knowledge. While the serpent itself did not necessarily have the knowledge of the tree, nor did it create the fruit, it was the guide to the fruit of knowledge. It tempted Eve to eat the fruit and then to feed it to Adam, giving them knowledge that would lead to the mortality of humanity. Miraidon may be using its abilities (its knowledge of the future, its exoskeleton, its bond with the player, etc.) to guide the player, their friends, and perhaps all of Paldea to a dangerous truth. That truth may simply be what exists in Area Zero and time travel, or maybe it is hiding something even more dangerous that will be seen in the DLC. And, come to think of it, Koraidon may also be filling a similar role, even if it is not yet serpentine. After all, before the fruit of knowledge was eaten, the serpent did have legs, and that story took place long ago. It also guides the player to a similar location and truth. Just a little theory to keep in mind.

@seandewar47 That's not confirmed, it's just speculated. Considering it's a paradox and they ran out of Koraidons to catch, the implication may be that it no longer exists in the past.

I liked that you informed people about the Potential information hazard. I just wished you gave a distin t warning about it. Maybe even adding a timestamp for people to skip to if they did not want to know bout this potentially dangerous information.

Roko's basilisk isn't actually an infohazard, its just a dumb hypothetical that doesn't make any sense.
You could cut out most of the stuff about only targeting certain people and just say "a hypothetical ai will kill everyone who knows about it, me telling you this is an info hazard" and it would make much more sense and also still be blatantly stupid

Couple things I'd like to add.
1: The Basilisk AI adds a seriously dark implication to the fact the Miraidon also really likes penny (tho tbf, both korai and mirai do)
2: Given the nature of time travel and paradoxes, it makes me wonder if the "bullies" korai and mirai face ARE them, but from a dark timeline where they are evil (or at the very least mean)
3: black and white also had a big focus on past vs. Future, Black city vs. White forest for example, which makes me wonder if they too have connections of some kind to the tao trio, especially since all involved are part Dragon type

And Miraidon even shares the same type combo as Zekrom. Koraidon could've easily been Fire/Dragon like Reshiram, but they had to change it up to avoid making them too similar.

Well... not really, "Don" doesn't mean King in Spanish, it would be closer to the japanese honorific "San"; the Spanish for King is Rey. also "Don" is the homophone of "gift/ability".
    - i love that technically speaking Koraidon & Miraidon are NOT legendary Pokemon, Ancient Paldea is full of Koraidons with Future Paldea having quite a few Miraidons.
    - i wish the games let you use either of the three Ridons & not just the version exclusive.
    - i love that Koraidon's shiny reinforces the Leather Biker gang look by giving them black scales
    - i know is technical limitations but i wish Miraidon's Glider-wings were in the Booster legs
    - oh, you want a really scary Info-Hazard that actually exists unlike the Roko's Basillisk? The genetic sequence of several of Earth's deadliest virues is publically available
