The Corsair One was a very solid pre-built when LTT checked it out almost three years ago, but is Corsair making the most out of the newly added thicccccccness? Plouffe is here to check it out to see if it's worth saving up to put this beefy unit on your desk.

14900k attached to a single 120mm AIO. There’s no way this thing isn’t throttling.
I think der8auer's review nails the problem with this case.
It's a slim fan too, not full size.
It is, Corsair is fudging things by setting TDP limit in BIOS to "not throttle" ... but Labs team is too dumb to notice.
At nearly £5000 throttling ain’t the worst thing you should be worrying about
@@EthanBB yeah, this thing struggles with a 420mm aio, lmao
The 14900k is also the dumbest CPU to buy when you can get a 14700k for way less, or you know, just buy a 7950x and save money on cooling and a proper case to house that cooling
120mm AIO on a 14900k. Bruh, what in the Alienware is this?
😂
If they rethink their last minute decision and changing it to AM5 motherboard + Ryzen 7800X3D + 240mm AIO it would make more sense. 7800X3D delivers almost similar performance in gaming with 50% less power consumption than 14900k and runs much cooler
its so dumb because if they swapped the cpu and gpu aio, it would be fine due to the gpu not having to worry about throttling as much
@@music_kun69420 I think you meant CPU not worrying about throttling
@@drew2626 the 40 series cards come shipped with aircoolers that are overkill for it, so a 120 mil rad would be fine on it too. at 8:20 you can see that the gpu has much more thermal headroom (though with the 240 mil)
They've def lost the plot with this design by making it so big, they def crippled it thermally by giving it a 14900k
def u say? def.
120mm AIO for a high end CPU is disappointing to me for such a normal sized case.
I don't get it. Did the case designers ever talk to the team planning components and cooling? It's overpriced and underperforming
@@Collin_J would be much better with an air cooled GPU and 360 AIO for CPU
@@Collin_J they did a better job in the past but all that custom stuff costs WAY more $$$ to design, develop, and produce.
Too big. Too expensive. Too hot.
Yeah, the Corsair One had a premium because of the small form factor. This has lost that key selling point. Now it's just a generic ITX case with an even higher premium.
Too wood
It's not even that small. Der8auer's one came with all sorts of issues.
He also got a super early version that had no fan curves installed yet, but yes, the entire concept of the machine is flawed. You can't adequately cool an Intel i9 with a 120 mm AIO if you're actually stressing it out and not just doing some heavily GPU-bound gaming like F1 in 4K. The GPU VRMs are without any active cooling as well, just passively cooled by what is effectively a case fan. Not good at all.
@@hammerth1421 A fan blowing on the VRMs is still active cooling tho, passive cooling is no fans.
@@hammerth1421 "Just passively cooled... case fan."
Is this some kind of satire?
@@tim3172 Based on the teardown in Debauer's video, the graphics card does not have any heatsink or heatspreaders on the VRMs. Just bare mosfets. The case fan is mounted on the lower right side of the side panel, blow air into the lower cavity of the case. It's not especially targeted or pointed towards the mosfets, just doing the equivalent job of front panel fans on a conventional tower.
In this case, I would think describing the GPU VRMs as 'being passively cooled' is an appropriate desctiption, since the entire left hand side bank of VRM is quite far away from the fan, and is effectively just cooled by whatever overall ventilation in the lower chamber that the side panel fan could provide. You can see the rather bare looking PCB in this video at about 5:06 minute in
I really, really wish Corsair would just sell the case for the One. It’s a really cool form factor but there’s no way I’m paying what they want for a pre built one.
This price is laughable, @$3850 and they had room for 240 for the CPU, and didn't use it, if you add up everything, the cost doesn't represent the sum of its parts.
Even if they did, you can't possibly think to cool a 14900k with s 240mm
If you notice, the CPU is bios limited, power limit is set at 200w, CPU package is 211w, under cinebench, where this CPU can easily deal close to 400w under all core load
@@thunderarch5951 technically if they use a thick rad and thicker fans, its possible, still a pretty terrible design choice
@@thunderarch5951 Intel spec for this is 125 watts PL1 (what Corsair sets to 200) and 253 for PL2, which isn't shown.
It *can* draw 400 watts, which is why the CPUs are having stability problems: too much power causes silicon degradation.
you're paying for that custom case
Hmm 120mm fan for a 14900k I wonder what the price is.. Totally decent surely 💀
The Corsair One before this one was innovative, had very nice engineering, chuck full of custom parts. This one is not even the shadow of what the old one was.
The Corsair One before this was a complete maintenance and repair nightmare. I'm baffled as to how anyone could consider proprietary parts a good thing(?).
Watching this compared to the der bauer video is quite the difference.
Because LMG needs their sponsorships
Yeah, blatant sponsorship, labs didn't even realize this thing isn't thermal throttling cause is bios limited, lol
A 14900k struggles with a 420mm aio in an airflow case, let alone with a 120mm aio in a coffin like this
Also, this PC is made for AI work according to Corsair.
I'm pretty sure anyone with at least a 5000-6000 budget to work with Ai won't even think about buying a 14900k and a 4090, lmao
LOL Not again.....
@@limkloosterboer Because Plouffe isn't Roman.
Yeah Roman is literally one of the best overclockers on the planet and an electric engineer…
I like plouffe for entertainment a lot though

ShortCircuit is more of an unboxing/first-look kinda channel. It always seemed kinda pointless to me.
Lol, it's actually an Nanuk case. It's an made-in-Canada alternative to Pelican, they have some interesting cases that LTT might want to check out.
Don't buy the Alienware. Or this one. But especially not the Alienware.
fr
Why?
@@heavyd9949 Cooling so insufficient that it runs like a 14700k. Just buy a 14700k and save yourself hundreds of $s.
Buy the Packard Bell!
Buy a Commodore 64
Nice looking closet
There is no way I'd want this with a 14900k....if it's going to be for gaming, it doesn't even make sense to go with Intel at this point. They run too hot, they use too much power, they now have degradation and stability concerns (so, did you check the bios?)...hell, honestly, unless the productivity aspects are your bread and butter, I'd just prefer to have a 7800x3d. It's not going to be a beast in productivity, but it's going be good enough for most people tbh.
Don't worry about CPU degradation and instability with this system - Corsair limits the CPU to 240W PL2. They already can't cool it at that wattage with a flimsy 120mm rad and low profile fans, anyway. They just don't tell you, because "optimized performance" (just downward) and "sophisticated cooling" (true, just still woefully inadequate) sounds so much better.
That whole system is a joke, and the ridiculous price is just icing on the cake.
That should be called the Corsair 2, it's twice the thickness
Looks like a station wagon we had, growing up in the ‘70s.
120mm aio on a 14900k.?! Did corsair hire Alienware staff for this?.
Review for this should've been a lot more negative. This just looks like a fancy hot box.
I love how case manufacturers are starting to use wood in their cases, it's so much easier to create a clean aesthetic in your desk space
At this point they should be selling those as a PC case or bare bone, since it seems it is gonna be compatible with standard PC parts. Also, it seems like "vertical" design like old Silver stone FT03 mini or Hyte Revolt 3 would work better for case like this.
Did everyone forget that Ryzen exist or something, this would have been better with a R9 7800X3D & 7900 XTX. Not a fanboy, I'm just stating a fact
Best feature? That rear IO light. That's such a little but MASSIVE thing. $5 feature that saves the wear and tear on ports.
Needing to disable raytracing to not let it go to hot on a 4090 is just insane
The Derbauer review of this thing already tells me what I need to know about it. Absolutely brutal cooling design for the price and apparent rookie mistakes on the fan configuration.
Title: bigger, better, and expensive
Me: That's what she said
U have a spelling mistake bro😂
I remember an old Alienware tower that had an integrated LED light strip for the rear I/O. Definitely glad to see that coming back.
Putting the 14900k with a 120 aio is like putting Michael Phelps in a kiddie pool.
The fun part is, they could just use a 7800X3D.
That looks really good I love the wood pattern and how small and compact the case is
You should prob mention that the UEFI in Corsairs pre builts is a custom made one that they dont bother maintaining after a year or two after release meaning the hardware youre buying might become a paperweight if you wanted to update your motherboard to accept a new cpu that isnt compatible out of the box, which isnt a uncommon occurence.
good thing is that their will be no further cpu for this generation i think
This seems to use a standard MSI MAG Mortar motherboard though?
@@equinoxe3d They do but Corsair goes out of their way to make it a more custom solution for what they claim brings better efficiency and perfomance, you can look it up there's people deeply upset online that they can't update their UEFIs to add more compatibility and functionality like how some AM4 Mobos weren't compatible with Ryzen 5000 and needed an update for it.
@@kitsune7919 Ah my bad, I thought they would've used the manufacturer's UEFI and just tweaked the settings, it does sucks then.
Looks like a really cool mATX case at least. We need more mATX cases, it's an underrated form factor for custom builds.
Once your mini-ITX case has become the size of a mid-tower, it's lost it's entire reason for existing.
Since I don't do console gaming, I built an ITX system about five years ago in a Fractal Design Core 500 (because I wanted to be able to support a full-sized ATX PSU, GPU and optical drive). This thing looks like it's the same size!
The 8bauer had a slightly different opinion in his video
yea, because he knows what he's talking about. this video is a joke in comparison.
Two main issues with this case: The 120mm AIO for the processor is to small (needs to be a 240mm AIO). And the AIO block for the graphics card needs to cover the VRMs and VRAM to cool those components as well.
If this was built for gaming the only option should have been a 7800x3d
The Derbauer video on this was bruuuuutal.
These things are looking more like 1970's stereo equipment every day!
Ploufe, any recommendations for a keyboard with more spacing for larger handed folks?
The world needs more mid-century modern PC cases!
Der8auer recommended changing fans to 25mm fans
2:17 3Dgameman vibes!
120mm AIO Lmao
I recomend people to watch Der8auer's video. This SUPER OVERPRICED bad designed pc is not worth $5000
Let's see how much issues ploufe can spot 😂
the host's comments were so bent on not being negative, not trying to lose sponsorship chances are we?
For its size, Corsair could've fit most of its standard watercooling lineup in there. Would've saved space to only have one pump, standardized parts would've been cheaper. Slap an XR5 240 rad on that hinged door, good to go. Hell, at this price, they should've used their Link fans, if only to cut out most of the cabling in their already cramped case.
This was like watching Unbox Therapy. I thought ShortCircuit was supposed to be like that, but with the credibility and quality of LTT.
It is up to a preference? That is a spineless way to say practically nothing at the end. If your preference is to have an expensive PC that is cooking itself to death even without dust in it...yeah, this is certainly a great option.
Yuck...
"Don't wanna break it. Or drop it."
Ahh, so that's why Linus wasn't allowed near this thing
It’s only drawing 150w and it’s at 98c…are you kidding me? That is like 1/2 the power draw of the 14900k.
You know what else is really hard to cool? Plouffe. This man will never be cool.
Plouffe's Shirt: Be not afraid, human.
"I don't know if i'd buy it, but it's pretty sweet." describes almost every Corsair product.
LGR enters the chat: "Wood grain PC cases you say.. "
Too expensive to pay for a thermally throttling i9. Cmon Corsair it HAS the space so just bump it up to a 240 at least.
Weaksauce. I hope they actually review it rather than just this first look video. They might conclude, as Der Bauer did, that this is a hot, noisy paperweight.
Jeez that heat is insane. At least you won't be cold during the winter season
corsair also locks the cpu to run under power at max so it's so much heat while being gimped
The design of the original was pretty special. This One looks pretty standard but the construction looks solid and it’s a pretty dapper build as a whole.
5k and they didn't optimize the rig to perform within thermal limits...
Start whit the price !!! dont just say it's expensive YOU KNOW THE PRICE !! SAY IT COWARDS !!!!
Imagine advising people to turn down settings in a years old game like Cyberpunk on a PC this expensive just because it can't keep itself cool.
Imagine putting an Intel in a heat sensitive sized case in 2024.
By using TORX manufacturer usually indicates that this is probably not what you are need to do. For example at my AIO pump they use them to seal liquid inside it. I don't see any problem because TORX usually even better than Philips.
"it got a lot of stange. Its real strong " i bet a hydrolic press is just a bit stronger xD
A pc that shows up in a plastic suit case. It must be that important.
Expensive, loud, hot... And now you can have them all!
Quick question: What's up with the shaky camera work and weird close-ups?
For most people, a "few more hundred dollars" is not splitting hairs.
For most people buying a nearly-$4000 computer, it is.
Maybe you should stay in your lane and comment on stuff you know, like off-brand cereal?
COuld you add the 240mm aio yourself?
Now I feel bad for recommending the 2024 version of this PC to a friend. I should have watched the reviews first. Man this thing runs hot and is expensive too
It's hitting 98c on light gaming, that may be "fine" on a temperature controlled room, but try that with the window open on summer and see what happens.
i never understood why people would want the most expensive rig money can buy in a small form factor.
if you have 2k to waste for a 4090, i think you have enough room in you house (cause you're either reach or sold everything to get the card
I cant help but look at prebuilts with nothing but disdain. Paying extra to have things spec'd/built poorly just really gets to me lol
Watching the condensation evaporate after Plouffe's shweddy hands move after pointing to each port is making me highly uncomfortable.
dude added all that volume for there to be a 120 aio on the cpu, waste of space
what monitor is that?
All that performance, and that price, yet no USB 4 or Thunderbolt? I wish it were available with a Ryzen 7800X3D instead.
The Fractal case with wood looks good, this does remind me of 1970s hi-fi and CRT TVs and stuff. Wait, how is that gigantic cover that looks exactly like a heatsink, not just a heatsink? What a waste of material.
This thing looks like my Grans waldrobe, once seen, I can't unsee it 🤔 Particular the start button for door handles.
Can we just have the case? 1490k on a 120mm rad is wild.
Don't get me wrong here but I have doubts about the labs data. Der8auer pointed out so many flawed things. How can a single person be more accurate than a whole team and how the hell did this made it through the ECC Squad
What about memory temps on the GPU ? Dunno why it wasn’t mentioned.
Looks like enough space for a 240 mm aio in there. Maybe worth buying one and switching the cooler with a better one
800 watt nerfed i9+4090 rig. Over 4K price tag. Probably aiming at the rich 30+ year old gamer that is not a tech guy.
Buy all the parts by yourself and you will spare 2k$. You don't need the Corsair tax.
people buy this for how small it is. not for the price to performance
Saving $2K, what are you stealing the parts?
I mean, that's always the case with prebuilts. Labour is expensive, so some premium is expected, but the big players also get massive discounts for buying components in bulk or using their own and they still add on like $2k above the retail price of the parts. It's actually ridiculous and honestly quite exploitative of people who just want to buy an off-the-shelf PC.
@@Ozone510_TTV Not paying the 2k upcharge for the Corsair case.
@@hammerth1421 the corsair one isnt really a prebuilt
The fractal north with the mesh panel is actually a nightmare, I ordered the TG panel to replace it, it has no real dust filtration and I've never had such a dusty PC before
I love the compact case.
The price... HELL NO!
Even with an RTX 4090 and 14900K that's absolutely insane.
Here in Europe I've seen this thing with an Rtx 4080 for 5 THOUSAND Euro's, what in the name of god????
I feel like they should have went for 360 rad on CPU and keep the stock cooler on the GPU. Dont forget that Corsair made the 2000D, so I dont understand what they are trying to do with this
"we've got cyberpunk running in the background, in just the main menu, because, you know, we're gaming"
this is a joke of a video
3:33 You tell 'em, Plouf. They should have never used two different types of screw heads. Phillips screwheads are trash. All my homies hate crosshead screws.
how does a 120 rad work with an i9 14k that doesn't seems correct
Why didn't they go for a r7 7800X3D??? 120mm would be sooooooo much better with it...
so... is nobody else getting bothered that the RGB is now only on one side instead of being simetrical like in all the other Corsair ONEs?
also i love that Front Wood (or Vynil Wood) is now the symbol of overpriced Case Tax LMAO
It's insane that they used a 120 instead of a 240 for the 14900k. The space is there, the extra fan is there... Wat?
ban Adam for saying RT isn’t worth the performance hit as he’s gaming on a 4090
Do they have one with a 14600 or 700 instead? That would be equal performance with that 120mm throttle problem. Cheaper as well
...just looked--of course they don't
Damn $4700, you sure are paying for the unique case.
there should be a honest "would the host actually consider buying it" on all reviews!
The Alienware is actually going for around 3 Grand, so the Corsair is two Grande more😂
