    I have my approximately 4’x4’ cnc router mounted on a garage storage lift and raise it above my assembly table when not in use. When I want to use it I lower it down onto my assembly table. Actually you could even raise it up while it was cutting a job so it would be out of the way. I have a blue tooth camera mounted in the dust shoe so I can watch the cutter. 😉😁

    We all struggle with the storage , tools , work area, all fighting for the same space. I learned to put everything on wheels so I can quickly and easily move things around when I need to . Rotating casters on each corner allows me to move each piece in any direction and not have to steer it .If I was to use two fixed wheels on on side , that makes it harder to move.But the real problem is we all have to much stuff for to little space we have. Great video ,thanks for the tour.

    Wonderful shop.. I got the same thing going not enuf space and currently working on a roubo workbench. I got 334 sqft so space is an issue fighting for every inch is fun. Take a look at the jet jjp-12hh planer jointer.. saves you a ton of room. You got a lot of machines crammed in their and could also tweak things down to free up more room. But I totally get it.. don't have to change configs all the time. I subscribed and hope to see you build some really wonderful things that I might get ideas off you.

      Hi Gene, hope the roubo bench is progressing well. "Fighting for every inch is fun" is certainly the truth! I've lost count of the times I've stood in the center of my shop visualizing; "now if I move that tool an inch to the right, and this other tool two inches to the left . . ." It's a game of domino's!

    Thanks for the shop tour. It a very nice shop. Just subscribed and looking forward to more videos.
    I’m not sure where I saw this but I think it was either someone from Woodsmith magazine or maybe Wood Magazine or Woodworkers Journal magazine. They rebuilt their workbench or out feed table so their CNC was under the top on I think a slid out shelf.
    A friend of mine has a shop much like yours where every wall has something mounted to it. He made a winch and pulley system to lift his CNC table and his laser table into docking stations in the attic of his garage. They get pinned in place so they can’t fall down when not in use. They lower down onto either side of his outfeed/Assembly table. Since he lives in a climate that gets cold he built an insulated box that surrounds each tool while it is in the attic and helps keep his shop warm even when they are being used.

    • @swensonwoodshop7475
      @swensonwoodshop7475  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Ron! Sounds like your friend has come up with some clever solutions to solve his space problems. When, and if, I ever get a CNC or laser cutter, then I will have to solve those problems, or move to a bigger shop!

  • @crossgrainwoodproductsltd9230

    This is your first video??! Wow, great job on editing and how to present your shop to us. You've clearly optimized your shop. I love how everything has a place of it's own. The use of bins and those cardboard organizers. I like having a variety of hardware on hand just in case I may need it. I check thru Face Book's Market Place and Craig's list. I recently acquired a group of new steel bin/drawers full of assorted hardware. I also have an antique printer cabinet that was in a local shop. It has the old iron wheels placing it around the beginning of the 20th century. This cabinet will be the home for all of the hardware I got with the steel drawers. I'll make a cabinet in the next coming week for them. I like having some history in my shop. I have some shelves that are placed where the ceiling meets the wall that goes all around the shop that I display my antique tool collection. They are not all wood working though. There are some very ornate levels, wrenches among the rest of my tools. One section is dedicated to the "Family Tools" that I inherited from my grampa. The wood planes date back to the mid 1600's when my family ancestors migrated to this country. They have been lovingly cared for over the centuries by other woodworking ancestors and not one sign of wood boring insects that tend to destroy the old tools.. I plan to build a proper cabinet like yours just for them. When ever I make something for my siblings and my parents when they were alive, or relatives, I always use those tools to help build the gift with. I have a special iron of the family logo on it that I burn into the items I make with those tools. My family will know then that it was made with our ancestors tools that they used to build their homes and everything of wood in those homes. Its my way of honoring them and so the family doesn't forget where we came from. Well, I didn't mean to write a story here, sorry about that. You have a new subscriber though! Thanks for a great video!

    • @swensonwoodshop7475
      @swensonwoodshop7475  Před 4 lety

      Thank you again! I love the concept of using your families antique tools for some aspect of building a family gift. That seems like a perfect way to honor their memory and preserve the legacy of their own woodworking history. I also have a branding iron with my makers mark, that I use on all of my projects. Someday, when I'm long gone and dust, someone may pickup an item I built and see my makers mark on it and wonder, "who was person?"

I seen the attention to details of it, and wondered do you have plans on it, as my wife and i would love to use serveral of them in our shop, main area, and then a few in the finish room, where we assembly everything. Thank you for showing us your beautiful shop, and i must say it has taught me alot on space saving, even in something my size. Once again, thank you. Wow! Your finishing room will be larger than my entire shop, and I'd probably get lost in a 50x50 shop! Hope you post some pictures of it when it's finished. Regarding the cabinet, I don't have any plans for the cabinet. I think it was originally a china cabinet, before my father converted it to a tool cabinet. I suggest you scour some antique shops and see if you can find a bargain, and then build a couple more to match the antique. Thanks for the feedback.

    Great shop ! Very Well Organized and Equipped I’m sure you know this but your old Delta Bandsaw with the reduction gears are a hot item these days as they are getting harder to find in decent shape BTW there is a CZcamsr that really knows his Bandsaws as he also was a Shop Teacher for a number of years and has a lot of Machining and Metal working experience overall a pretty neat and knowledgeable guy but i forget his name at this moment although if you search 14 inch Delta Bandsaws on You Tube he will pop up he also has a nice collection of old Catalogs from several large Companies over the years

    • @swensonwoodshop7475
      @swensonwoodshop7475  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Craig! I used to have an entire shop of Delta equipment, but when Delta basically stopped making industrial quality equipment about 10 years ago, I started switching over to Powermatic. I still have some of my older Delta equipment, the metal/wood cutting bandsaw and thickness planner that are in my shop, and an DJ20 jointer and 6" belt/12" disc sander in storage. I sold my Delta Unisaw, and HD Shaper. I think the reasons I started changing over to Powermatic were: 1 - parts were readily available, whereas Delta parts were difficult to come by, and 2 - I like the industrial quality of Powermatic equipment; its heavier, and better engineered, in my humble opinion.

      Thanks for the encouragement. I am working on more videos, and my startup has been slower than I anticipated, mainly because I'm a one man show and I'm still figuring out the lighting, camera angles, software, etc. But that's all part of the journey.
      I purchased the Excalibur router table top and router lift in 2016 from Tools Plus, and I'm very happy with them. Unfortunately the Excalibur brand was manufactured by General Tools of Canada which has since gone out of business. I understand that King Canada is now manufacturing the General/Excalibur tool line under the Excelsior brand, and the XL-075 appears to be the same cast iron top I originally purchased. Not sure who, if anyone, in the USA is carrying this line of tools, other than Woodcraft selling their scroll saws.
