- Ok guys decided to build a new primary weapon and what better dollar for dollar option than a BCM upper on a Aero M4E1 lower? Let me know what y’all think and what you would do differently.
Also huge shout out to @PrimaryArmsOptics for their Military discount, definitely saved me big time for this build.

For those who can’t comprehend the context of my build…I’ll type slower.
You cannot buy a complete BCM rifle with the enhanced features for anywhere near what I paid for this build.
Yes, you can piece together upper lower combos for less/ the same money but again you will only have a bare bones BCM without the enhanced bolt, handguard, lower, pins, charging handle, etc etc.
@@RidinDirtyOutdoors I agreed especially regarding the lowers. I find for me personally, it’s a total waste of money buying a completed lower from a company like this when I will always replace the bolt catch, trigger and selector. My favorite go to is the Aero m4e1 stripper lower, Battle Arms 45/90 selector, maritime/bad lever or phase 5 bolt catch/mod and either a cmc 3.5 singles stage or geissele. I also tend to gravitate towards magpul CTR or Bravo B5 stocks. I usually end up building a far superior lower for significantly lower cost or the same price with what I actually want

I have a bcm recce 16 factory rifle, fired it through all weather and 4 seasons in backyard a bunch and never ever had an issue. I also got a ddm4v7 lightweight which seems even less gassy and much more accurate with various loads. 77gr otms shoot sub moa or moa, the bcm likes lighter bullets even though its 1/7 twist too, it shoots m193 well but 77gr or heavier loads its not the most accurate. DD barrels seem to be on another level. Id get a dd just for their barrel over a bcm. Both are equally reliable and quality. MAYBE bcm has a slight edge on quality.
@@xxdizannyxx can’t go wrong with either I’d say 🤙🏼

@@RidinDirtyOutdoors yea. I’ve got one and a lr308 version too. They make nice stuff

Pretty darn neat build, man. Love the color combo! You really put some thought into this one! Kick as rifle, bro. Plan to do anything to it later on or it stays as is?
@@DesertTactical thanks brother.
Pretty much gonna stay as is, didn’t really put anything subpar on it to have to swap out. Maybe the optic if something really cool comes out later on but no plans to swap anything else
@@DesertTactical I will however probably add a suppressor at some point
Griffin Armament Mk2 Lower is 220-210 and is Ambi, I believe it's the best lower in the market atm
@@Nyrlyat I get it, but that’s a hundred more on a lower that let’s be honest doesn’t do anything a 40 dollar Anderson lower can’t do.
Just tried to get quality but also spend realistically for my needs.
Why do you think that MI handguard is better than the BCM? I beg to differ. I have the BCM MCMR and the BCM Raider (newer version) and they're both stronger (especially the Raider) and both have a superior barrel nut mounting system to hold aiming lasers at zero better. I have 5 different Midwest handguards. They're great, but the BCM handguards can take a bigger ass whooping for sure. BCM rails are more on par with Geissele and DD which cannot be beat in durability. Period
@@AaaaandYerDhem appreciate your opinion, I look forward to your video.
Love Aero lowers! Another best dollar for dollar level up from aero would be a Griffin Armament MK2 lower
@@PAWulf6 yea and those are a hundred more. Hard for me to justify the price on a lower
Semper Fi Devil Dog. Just found your channel. I am also running a BCM 14.5 upper with an Aero Precision lower. I love my setup. The fit between the two is like one company made both parts. Running an LPVO, with a piggy back red dot both mounted on a Reptilia Corp scope mount.
One thing Devil Dog, you NEVER really buy once cry once lol. We do that with the intention and then buy more shit later on, because...
Ooh Rah! Haha I know what you mean, I’m never happy and keep buying stuff I don’t actually need 😅
@@RidinDirtyOutdoors For real bro lol
Like the video, but i disagree with MI having a better hand guard than BCM. Additionally, LOTS of guys who are new are going to try and build this and completely fuck it up. I bought an Keymod BCM 14.5 with comp on GB for $500. Far better when factory built from a company like BCM imo. Good video!
@@Gnome-A-Tron hey, thanks for watching!
Midwest is a 100 percent better hand guard and yea sure I guess that’s opinion based.
So you think people should never learn to build or how their firearm actually works? They should just keep buying off the shelf and have no self awareness/ability to make simple swaps and repairs?
@@RidinDirtyOutdoors yea, I think after a certain level regarding hand guards, I agree it’s personal preference. I am one who definitely does all my work on my firearms. I guess when I see SHTF then building it out I just in-vision first time rifle owners trying to BYOR and brutally fucking up. Definitely a way to learn though I guess. For someone new getting into rifle building, I think starting with a PCC is good to go when most uppers do not require dimpling a barrel or installing gas tubes. Just starting a convo for the algorithm. 😉
@@Gnome-A-Tron oh yea I agree you can definitely mess stuff up but ideally one is taking it to the range and testing it before actually relying on it for any serious use 🤙🏼
Nice work! Maybe someday I'll build a BCM. I'm still rubbing off the new rifle smell on a psa sabre & 300blk. Plus I still need suppressors. Tacticon has a sale going on battle vests and couldn't pass it up. They are almost out of everything green tho. 🍻

I’m going through the same problem now
Trying to decide between a OCL polonium can or a surefire RC three
@@IkfNorCalChamp not anytime soon, maybe in the future and address it then
@@positivereactions4044 lol I was going through that same problem. What suppressor to get. I found a place that makes surefire adapters. They take a surefire warden and take off the QD part to make it fit any 1.375-24 pattern suppressor. So I can take any suppressor that has that same threads and use it on my surefire pinned BCM. It’s kinda like the keymo adapter but for surefire.

@@DeezyP I’ll have it ready for the next time lapse 😅
You can get a complete upper from Bcm with the elw barrel. 14.5 for 800 bucks and comes with a “free” bcg. You have another 700 dollars to build your lower. 350-400 for a Bcm complete.
@@miguelrojas1686 you still can’t buy what I built for cheaper, not sure what your point is? My BCM upper was less than 800 with a better rail and bcg
A Bcm upper is 730 with a better barrel. It comes with a warranty. And in my opinion people are better off going that route.
I guess what I’m saying is, you said a rifle cost 1600-1800 bucks. When you can get an upper and lower for 1150
@@miguelrojas1686 I mentioned complete weapon costs, not piecing one together. My point that you can build one out nicer than buying a complete rifle stands.

For the "building it myself" category you spent $2394 WITHOUT calculating the shipping costs of each order and that adds up fast depending on how many individual orders you did. I've done this myself. A cheap lower with a BCM upper is the way to go especially with them including the bcg. You can get a blem complete upper too and you probably won't be able to find the blem once you get it in your hands.
They sell the recce 14/16 uppers as blems on their website. You can get a complete bcm rifle(with a random lower so I guess not "complete bcm") for under $1000 if you buy stuff on sale. Get an Aero/PSA lower, LaRue mbt2s or even a Schmid 2 stage, carbine spring+h2 buffer and you've got yourself a legitimately formidable rifle that will last you many, many years. There are people getting extremely high round counts out of BCM uppers. Pat Rogers had some uppers that had like 50,000 rounds on them that he'd loan out to students and they kept running and were getting reasonable accuracy. I don't know if or when he replaced barrels but I'm sure he did at some point. Basically, if you buy a BCM upper its going to last you the rest of your life unless you're in the 1% of shooters who put several thousand rounds of 5.56 down range a year, even then by the time you've burned out a BCM barrel you've spent more on ammo than you did the entire gun. BCM QC is literally the best in the AR15 market. Nobody takes QC more seriously than they do. That isn't to say a lemon can't go out the door, guns are made on friday after all. So it could still happen and as always vet your gear and make sure it is reliable but a BCM is worth the premium which really isn't that high to begin with compared to other "premium" manufacturers.
Anyone calling BCM "mid tier" doesn't own a set of gauges, There is a reason SOTAR uses BCM components for his control variable. They're no frills AR15's but built right with the best components that are all held to the same tolerance. If you fully gauge 10 BCM uppers you're going to find very little if any variation in all critical dimensions. That isn't the case for some "premium" AR companies. The only thing BCM lacks that other "premium" manufacturers have is ambi controls in the actual BCM lowers but that stuff literally doesn't matter imo, it's damn near a marketing gimmick. The AR15 was designed so well by Eugene Stoner it is very easy for a lefty to use it without any ambi controls at all. The only control that needs to be enhanced over standard milspec is the charging handle because the A2 charging handle was designed before the wide spread use of optics.
