    When Agnes loses her toy in her vacation Bjorn would go and get it and Patrick praises him as a real hero,, maybe that was the reason why bjorn got back the second time to get it,, so that Patrick (as if the toy was really at Patrick's house) will not judge him as a coward for not getting the toy back this time.

    You see your daughter being detongued and taken away and all you can do is sit with the seat belt on to ask "Why are you doing this to us"
    That "Because you let me" was the single smartest line in the entire movie. Accepting your demise without one hint of previous violence. Scandinavian things..

  • @Gabby-hw7my
    @Gabby-hw7my Před rokem +78

    So many people are saying the family deserved it. They definitely were at fault for staying there and I just wanted to tell them to immediately leave! But they didn’t deserve it and the other couple are the ones to blame. You have to realize there is fight, flight, freeze, or fawn mode. I felt sorry and so tense seeing the couple not standing up for themselves and allowing their boundaries to be crossed just for the sake of politeness, because it’s also something that’s extremely hard for me.
    You have to understand unless you’ve faced some trauma that causes your brain to resort to those other modes, it is extremely hard and it puts you into so many dangerous situations, and it DOES hurt you. That trauma really changes your abilities to be assertive, so I had a lot of empathy for this couple. Obviously they don’t have some huge past trauma, but I can feel the intense frustration of not being able to be assertive and I felt the tension every second of this movie.

      Nah that guy was an exception - he was only slightly smaller built than the Dutch dude, and his lack of communication inevitably led to their demise. There were so many mistakes along the way and that’s what made it infuriating. Turning around so a kid way too old for soft toys can get her bunny. Hell, at that age she should’ve understood why her parents wanted to bail early. Bjorn just seemed like a dweeb in awe of the “cooler” guy and didn’t fight back. As a male, most of us have too much pride to let another man slap us around like a rag doll, even when we’re outmatched, it’s a primal thing. I felt like they all responded to every scenario in the most problematic, obnoxious and feeble ways.

    For me I saw a bigger picture that this movie symbolises, and that’s hard to explain if you are like the family in the movie -naive, formal, not daring to speak up and ferociously act on righteousness. We live in a society of ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ -nobody dares to act out of righteousness with a sacrifice of their own comfort. Remember when he asked why are you doing this to us? And the guy says its because you ‘let him’. Now think of this on a global level. We had purity, but good men failed to act, and just allowed evil to prevail. This is the foundation of a society. All of our parents are somehow coming from the original parents that had no backbone, that would just let wicked things happen. Everyone just saves themselves and won’t stand up high enough for nobody because they are too afraid. So this is why we have a society that is ruled by elites, and they will shape the world however they want because nobody will stand. See no evil hear no evil speak no evil. We all pretend, but nobody knows of the evil history we are all derived from. We have deep deep rooted fear within. Child sacrifice still happens today in extremely complex ways. The government has more right over our children than we do. What does that tell you. We have a wicked wicked history to resolve, and this is where beings of spiritual nature are rising, and we are pissed. We are rebelling. Not conforming, and we are here to stand where our parents were too afraid too.

      Does this include addressing climate change, the actual greatest threat to our future freedom and well-being? Does your righteous anger include holding an uber-elite like Trump and his posse accountable for their sins? And is your version of spiritual warfare more than just opposition to gay marriage and abortion?
      In my experience the only people who rant like this are fundamentalist Christian conservatives with the irrational fear of losing their dominance over every aspect of American culture.
      You want to destroy the elites? Start with electing people willing to tax them. Recognize that it is immoral for billionaires to exist in a country where children regularly go hungry.

    This movie is 75% good the last 20 minutes is so frustrating and bad. The thing that annoyed me was them staying so many times and having the opportunity to leave but didn’t. How you gonna let them turn it on you? You could tell they were weirdos. So many different situations and they STILL continue to stay after the dance routine thing? He threw a cup at his son and kept playing the song over and shouted! Even put his hands on him. It was daylight, they weren’t being captured they could’ve left. Like finding your kid sleeping next to a couple you hardly know and the womens naked? Huh? And the part that really annoyed me was how slow he was like they were unarmed and they still did everything they said? I’m sorry but I’m fighting, clawing doing everything. Yeah the mother was in a headlock but the dad gave a soft punch and they threw up watching his daughter tongue get taken out? I’m sorry. Whaaat? Like who does that? You do everything idc. Fight or flight. Survival instinct. It was a hard situation with doors locked but come on, that’s not giving your all. You just watch your little girl get mutilated. Then on top of that. They take you somewhere tell you to strip. Btw these assailants have no weapons. Then the couple just stand still and cry while they get rocks thrown at them. They didn’t have to stay through everything, just have some balls and fucking leave. Holy shit!

    Explaining why this movie doesn't work: (Spoiler ahead)
    It's very obvious what the message of the movie is, it's that some people are too permissive and too forgiving to the point where others end up using them. That's all very nice and dandy, the problem is that this movie is totally missing the point of this message. Towards the end of the movie, Bjørn discovers what the Dutch family is really doing behind their back and what they plan to do with them, so what does Bjørn do? He rushes to her wife and child to get away from that place. Oh hold on then, so when Bjørn at the end asks "Why are they doing this?" and then Patrick asnwers with "Because you let us." is then completely false. They obviously didn't get caught because they "let them", they screwed it up because of very poorly made decisions on Bjørn's part: Leaving the car with barely any gasoline in it. Not telling his wife and kid what is going on. Like why?? And then going off the road because you got spooked and then getting yourself stuck, and then leaving your family all by themselves in the car??? What the actual fuck?? They didn't die because they "let them", they died because Bjørn was an idiot! That's the actual message of the movie, the first half of the movie however is where the "Because you let us" line fits in. The fact that they accepted an invitation to a family that they barely knew and seemed very bizarre already at first glance was already very stupid. And as they spend more time with them, it became very clear that the Dutch family are straight up complete assholes. And honestly after they witnessed so much of their bullshit is where the movie should've ended, because Louise made the smart choice and convinced the family to get the hell out because they were clearly a bunch of weirdos. But of course because of a stupid plot convenience, they had to go back and had to tell their reason for leaving without saying a word, and this is where the movie becomes just dumb. After listing them all the bad things they did, the Dutch family still unconvincingly manages to keep them at their place, and of course they forgot about all of it and decided to stay, and kept on swallowing more of their bullshit. This movie showed us of a family slowly but surely being fed up with other people's bullshit, and then they make them stupid just to get the message across. Like you don't even wanna question Patrick about the fact that he's not even a doctor?? Dumb, dumb, very dumb!

How has this Dutch couple gone around murdering all those families and kept the abducted child... Still never got caught??? They have the luxury to travel and rent at various countries... They have their own home and surviving with no job... Also not worried about police .... The kids can't even write or escape ??? They can't speak... But can't even write for god sakes ??? No one would be stupid enough to stay.. U should've left the first instance you sensed another men in the bathroom while your having shower... But instead she gets back to the room and makes out ?? Who cares about the stupid toy.... Agnes wasn't even that upset just sulked for few secs... This movie is truly overhyped... !!! No logic what so ever.. they didn't even have to explain to the family... Just leave!! ...or if U felt so bad...any human would only say they had an emergency at their home... They won't actually say they felt uncomfortable... They couldn't easily made up some excuse... That their parents called on some emergency... How come they never made any call to contact the police ?? Wasn't there any reception?? They can easily say his wife was feeling ill... Had to rush to the hospital..or they forgot her medication...anything to leave... They could've easily convinced Agnes that the Dutch family will visit them and bring over the toy on next few days... This movie is pure stupidity

    This movie represents the current state of the Western Europe. A sheep, a puppet in the hands of bigger authorities.

    Man i wanted a happy ending..
    I hope there's gonna be a sequel where the little girl takes revenge, or maybe these 2 monsters mess up with the wrong couple/family & they get tortured for 30 minutes and brutally murdered by them .
