- So Elphelt has made her re-debut to the franchise of Guilty Gear, this time around she's now a heavy metal singer instead of a wannabe bride though in Strive! Here are some first thoughts and impressions on the character so lets chat about Elphelt and her gameplay!

So Elphelt is now live after the big circus that was yesterday, so here is me just playing around with her a bit and giving some of my initial thoughts about the character! She's rated easy to use and I believe it lol. brute force titanic buttons, easy projectile game, effective "attacking short hop" with the reworked grenade move and all that. Seems easy and strong, and avoiding the pitfall of her being the monster everyone remembers from Xrd! Give a watch, leave a like if ya like, and lemme know what ya think!
I am absolutely in love with Elphelts projectile. I am not a fan of zoners, at all, but not only is the projectile tricky with its movement, I just love how the projectile screams after changing the direction.
Don't worry because elphelt has never been a zoner to begin with

Sorry no patch deep dive, I slept in after all the game awards nonsense last night and barely had time to get this elphelt vid out on top of covering every single change. Patch notes are in the vid description though! Right now plans are I guess granblue guides? I can't get a review code though so I can only start those once the game actually goes live, so guides will be longer to come out than usual, sorry. I was riding high earlier in the year I guess but that don't matter now cause I can't get a granblue review key and I didn't get invited to that tekken event either, back to being a nobody.

This new direction for elphelt is so awesome, it really scratches the weird niche i dont normally find in fighting games, the closest i can compare is my favorite character in gbvs, Eustace. I love this so much
I definitely love how her cinematic super only does damage once she screams DIE
She has character specific taunts that are amazing..definitely worth checking out as some of them are insanely long.❤

As somebody who played Noel Vermillion in Blazblue for like a decade, seeing Elphelt have so many Noel like moves (hell, the Chain Revolver type series is called "Chain Lolipop", the overhead is like 2D, the low is like 6D, and the shotgun ender is Chamber Shot or Bloom Trigger-like) and testing her out almost instantly gave me a sense of familiarity. I still love playing I-No, but his new Elphelt feels really good.
Yeah, the only tricky thing getting used to Strive Elphelt to me is that she doesn't have as much in the way of tools to weave into her opponent's attacks as Noel does, but on the other hand Elphelt's normals extend more than a few inches from her body so she doesn't need those tricks as much.
Also Elphelt's new outfit feels like a Strive-ified version of CP/CF Noel with the Elphelt spikes added for good measure.
What doesn't feel really good though, is the writer in me realizing I spelled a simple word like "this" wrong, lol.
Just picked up Strive again after being away for a year. I’m loving Elphelt and came straight to your channel hoping you’d have something on her. Great vid as always.
As somebody who played her in Xrd, I’m sad that they changed her so dramatically.
That being said, I kinda predicted this would have to be the route they took. When Strive first came out, many of my ideas I had to redesign Elphelt for this game were used for Happy Chaos.
He really felt like the Strive version of Xrd Elphelt.
I really enjoy the death metal vibe. Something about her screaming, “DIE!!!” when she does her super is just… exactly what I loved about the personality of the character. But, for me, Xrd Elphelt was all one package. HC has the gameplay but not the vibes, and Elphelt has the vibes but not the gameplay that i loved in Xrd.
That being said… she is classified as a rushdown character and I DO main Testament… maybe this is the rushdown secondary character I need in my life.

Death Metal Elphelt: The New Terror
I'm a big fan of the new elphelt, I love how her new special works and I even found it's possible to combo out of the first rep for free (if you start it with C.S into 2hs you can sneak a 2k or 5k in there which is best comboed into 214k)
I love her new design. Been listening to her song all day on loop.
Clarification: during chain lollipop, you can also cancel moves into themselves, e.g. overhead into overhead or low into low, so, good luck lol.

God, I love everything about Elphelt's look and aesthetic. I've recently been listening to a lot of death metal with female vocalists, so I feel like she was plucked right from my brain and made specifically for me. Her invincible super is sick.
Strive takes a lot of crap for simplifying everyone, but I kinda appreciate it. Sin, Bedman, and Elphelt where Xrd characters that I really wanted to play but just didn't have the energy to learn as a basic-bitch-Ky-main. But now, I can totally wrap my head around all three of them. So, thanks, Arc Sys!
Same here. Was crazy on a lot of metal with female vocalists over the last few days and, while watching the game awards, felt like that was some sign from the gods or something hahahahaha
She looks fun!
Using will assault with her also allows you to combo into the command grab super, I still have to lab if there's full combos off of the command grab part but you can defently get a ender after the grab
Command grab super leaves them staggered, you can do something like Far S > 5H > 214K and not only will it still combo but the grenades will blow up during the 214K tumble, popping them into the air while you're still moving. You can then followup after with pretty much whatever you want on a juggle.
I wish her reversal super had a bigger hitbox. Ive had plenty of times already where i had the right read to use it but it wiffs due to its deceptively tiny hitbox.
rough defense is basically her one weakness, considering everything else is so easy and strong
It's hitbox is decently big horizontally, but not so much vertically from what I've seen

Small correction, but the command grab super is a COMBO STARTER, Though the only viable option is far S into Rekka

@@yugijakSadly, you can somewhat easily mash out of 5H (you can toggle rapid mash-out in training mode)
If 5H was possible, you could just 5H target combo into whiff Bridal Express, and juggle from there

Guess they are saving Jam for the very last DLC character ever, with how long she's literally been in the game.
I wonder how much interesting stuff you can pull with the projectiles, but I will definitely miss the old shotgun. Having an actual pumpgun input was such a fun idea.

Yeah, I wasn’t really a fan of her old design either. Especially the massive [you-know-what] window. And how she pulls constantly pulls her weapons and ammunition out of said window. Just felt overly gratuitous and fanservice-y for no good reason
@@KeDe1606 Well I'm glad that you said that because I just didn't want to say that about her because it might offend some people who liked her a lot along with reminding the creators of her original design choices. Old Elphelt definitely had a stark contrast to her sister Ramlethal she had her own demons though with that bizarre hat & frock costume.
@@vapersmith7859 I totally get that. I‘ve already seen a bunch of those overblown „they completely ruined her character!“ comments. Similar to the Bridget and Testament reveals, but to a lesser extent.
Which is kinda weird, because it’s not like she’s some completely unattractive blob now. She‘s still just as [bouncy] as ever, and her overall body type is also the exact same. She’s just wearing a bit more cloth now. She doesn’t look like she‘ll expose herself anymore if she so much as takes a single step, let alone fire multiple high-caliber guns anymore (seriously, I can’t get over how utterly ridiculous her last outfit was. She looks like a [redacted] parody of herself). That’s it.
And even if she wasn’t as attractive anymore, honestly, what does it even matter? Just look at the female characters in this game. This is the same game that has Millia, Baiken, Giovanna, and Jack-O (Ram also does sorta fall into „conventionally hot female character“ group, but she’s like… 2 years old… kinda… it’s weird). It‘s not like this game‘s missing conventionally attractive female characters.
Small rant aside, I really like the way Elphelt summons her weapons now. Her transforming that contract that she‘s always carrying around into her weapon is, in my opinion, pretty cool, and totally fitting for the new direction they’ve taken her character into. At least it’s better than what she did in the last game.
And I’m not saying all this to condemn the people who liked her prior design. It’s fine. It’s not hurting anyone. It’s just a matter of personal preference in the end

Elphelt might actually get me in to playing Strive again. I often felt like the game was slightly too complex for me--I mostly play older SF titles and some 6--but I love Elphelt's aesthetic and the relative simplicity of her kit. I'm sold. Such a cool character.
The best part about this character is that when she wins a tournament you KNOW the whole crowd will growl "DIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE"

Wow! Potemkin's Heat Tackle combos off his Ps, and can be safe or + on block against airborne foes? This move's even better than I hoped! :D
Anyway, back to Elphelt. I imagine her grenades will be something to look out for, since she can crossup and continue pressuring you if you don't hit her out of it.

Her first super needs a range buff because there are times it feels like it should hit but completely misses
I'm lucky to have never experienced Xrd Elphelt (though I've considered going back to try Xrd Rev 2 several times), and I will say that Strive El doesn't seem AS horrible as she could've been. She only really has one projectile move (I'd call her HS more of a poking tool, still gotta be relatively close) and it's a slower projectile, so it's relatively easy to see and react to. She definitely has the funny mixups that I love as a rushdown player, she's relatively simple to play which is nice after Johnny who I just couldn't wrap my head around and Asuka who's Asuka, and she feels relatively well balanced for Strive. It feels very disadvantageous to be ranged as much as some people may want to projectile spam which removes a lot of what people hated about her in Xrd, her Rekkas feel hard to guess but not too punishing to guess wrong on, and she seems to actually have faults by virtue of actually fitting into the rushdown archetype. Plus, her redesign is pretty good (dunno which I prefer honestly, depends how much I adore her old Guns and Roses pun), and Extras is a pretty good theme as expected from Daisuke.
I left the game too soon bc i was below average in GG(am good in most fighting games but GG and SF are difficult to me idk why i have to practice a lot to play somewhere decent) and thks character actually looks fun and not to complicated! I was maining the girl with the wolf but i left even before the first DLC i just kept watching gameplays and the new content bc i focused on sf6 and then mk1 but now this makes me wanna get into GG and learn that weird clock mechanic 😂😂
I've been interested in tgis game for a while now, and have been wondering if it's too late to get into it now? I don't really have any actual experience in the genre, but I really like the characters and visuals of the game
It's a fairly beginner friendly game. Most characters aren't that difficult to play in terms of execution. I can't speak for how many people at a beginner level are still playing the game, so it might be a bit of an uphill battle as you learn since most players you'll come up against will know more than you. But the ranked system is decent at placing you against players close to your skill level at the lower levels. It gets a bit iffy once you reach the top. The game does get pretty snowbally at higher levels too (the player in the lead often gains a huge advantage over the player who is losing), but that won't affect you for a while as you're learning and the latest patch seems to have addressed this, although we'll see how effective it is.
If you are willing to put in some work to learn the game/genre, and you think it looks cool and fun, I'd say it's a good place to start! It was my first serious fighting game and I love it, and it made me love so many other games in the genre too. If you have even one friend who might want to learn the game with you, that will help a lot too because then you'll have someone your own skill level to play with.

Sometimes they make a character overly complex in strive and others dummy simple, to the point it's not that fun to explore the character, as you know right away what it's supposed to do and how it's played

She's cute AF, has an actual kit as a balanced zoner, crazy corner pressure, far reaching HS and great normals. What's not to like? Her James Brown split into fry scream is absolutely gorgeous. ArcSystem hit it out of the park with her this time.
