Super prices! when ordering, you can select either litres or kilos. keep in mind that 5 kilos of calci worms would be a very large bag. litres is recommended.

How does the nutritional value of proteins, fats and other nutrients compare with the traditional dried silk worm pupae? Then there is the shape and condition of the faeces. How much is being absorbed without producing jelly-like undigested faeces? It is noteworthy that the pond water is visibly less polluted by excess oil!

Protein 43%, Fat 36%, Calcium 5%. So less protein and less fat compared to silk worm pupae.
As you well know, but that might help whoever reads, anything above 38% protein won't get absorbed by koi. So it goes directly to waste. My problem with the silk worm pupae is that they lose their nutrition if they are stored for too long. After watching the program from the Japanese silk worm pupae farmer from Japan, we will never get the quality of them here in England.
No jelly type waste. But then I only feed the worms twice a week as a treat. So it looks like I haven't got any undigested food.

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection That's great information. Now it's a feeding technique that makes use of it to increase the ideal body shape. If that triggers of MUNEPPARI, which in turn makes them frail and weak, then there is no point.

Hi Tom, thank you for the kind comment. Yeah koi can go mad with them.. I guess like us with treats. 🤣🤣 I am fairly strict, so only twice a week

Thanks Lau, I ordered a kilo today and they were sent out same day. The bits in mealworms drives me mad so time to try something new. If the fish don't eat them the hedgehogs will 😁

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Well after a week I can say the fish love them as much as mealworms and there is a lot less mess from them in the filters too. I think I will be sticking with calciworms now. Thanks for the heads up.

@@Simonsimps that's good to hear. The thing is calci worms has got so much more calcium and other nutrition values than mealworms. But go easy with them, only twice a week, otherwise you have will have more waste. Remember that it's a treat or a complement 😁 too much and they could start getting diarrhea.

Always informative and sharing. Speaking of, would you mind letting me know which of the probites you recommend? Can get it finally through a site in the Netherlands for both winter and summer. Would really appreciate your advice as I know you use their foods👍

If you are in the UK, you can buy it from Gatwick koi. The great thing about ProBites is that they are made based on water/pond temperatures. The Spring-Autumn is obviously for autumn, the Summer is for summer above 15 degrees. One that I really like is Chlorella, it's a good food which helps the skin, between the spring and summer. I haven't been able to use that one this year due to the temps. I haven't used the colour. One thing to remember is that the pellets are 6mm, so if you have anything under 30cm, it's probably a little bit too big. The winter one is only sinking, 4-4.5mm. Which you can fed down to 7-8 degrees.

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection yes,it's the Chlorella I have been looking at . It stares that is helps condition, health and colour and obviously size. All at or above 30cm before they move to the main pond. Have been using saki balance, good but not what I had been led to believe it would do for my koi. Having heard yourself and yvo talking about probites and seeing the results ,I am more inclined to use it. Temps haven't dropped below 19 from about may and its covered all year now to do exactly that. UV rays get through with the clear plastic sheeting I use,so no issues with that. Thanks for the info, means more than I can say👍🤙

@@user-oi2qi5vo1r chlorella is very good for conditioning and for the skin and overall health balance. But if you are above 19, I would definitely use summer if you are after growth. Chlorella is more a health and conditioning than a growth.
Just a question, any reason why you use saki hikari balance rather than growth?

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection was going on what KW had said on their channel, about it being a better option for lower temps. Especially when you aren't reaching the likes of 24+,bit found other than the koi looking better and more vibrant, not much growth with it. Was going to buy the probites originally only for that. Bit I feel the probites will be overall and the price is better for what you get, including ingredients and so on. Can get about 18kg for about 250 in euro,so that's a great buy at that price.
