      I hear people's fish are flashing so often, sometimes with no parasite. I had that last year all summer if you remember. It was all down to the metal in the water. But you know, I was thinking, you have had some new houses built near yours, may be they have raised the level of chlorine. Can't remember if you have chloramine. More pipes, more metals in the water... You should see my water report 🙄

    It seems to be growing well!! However, wouldn't it be better to move them around a bit more if you wanted? But the rising cost of electricity is a challenge these days, isn't it? In Japan, there are pumps for flow rates that are less expensive for electricity, and it is common to combine them with venturi. (You can also just add a little stronger aeration.)

    Hi Lau, Pond & fish looking fantastic. I know how much you love your single colour fish but you cant beat a splash of Gosanke in my opinion 😃
    I had a lot of the brown algae too, i put it down to PP treatments, CT and even salt being in the pond over the past few months. Luckily its started clearing off now and fresh green growth is coming back. Did yours have a funny smell to it at all?

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před rokem +1

      Thank you Si. Yeah definitely, go sanke was needed and I am glad I found what I really liked. Wasn't easy. But got there.
      Salt would automatically destroy the fluff, and CT too, definitely. PP not necessarily, only if used several times. The dead algae can have a light smell of mud, but not bad, no. It's the cyanobacteria which would smell, slimy and with little bubbles. Looks like algae but actually a bacteria. But it's generally blue green in aquarium and can be black in ponds and swimming pools, and it tends to be really green in lakes or stagnant natural ponds. Spreads quickly, rather than the healthy green stuff dying because of treatments. Did yours smell?

    • @UpNorthKoiPond
      @UpNorthKoiPond Před rokem +1

      @@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection it certainly had some sort of "smell" to it. I've never really quite been able to describe the smell. It wasn't a foul smell but didn't smell good either. Possibly the smell of it decaying 🤷‍♂️ I really don't know..🤔

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před rokem

      Hi, I think you know sometimes we are quick at saying that parasites come from birds, or snails or slugs etc... But there is no real evidence of that. My pond is covered and enclosed. But in my case i know it came from one of the fish I collected end of January.
      I feel that a lot of those parasites come from our source water or live in our pond and something from our source water triggers them, when we clean our filters, when we change something or simply when the temps and pH swing.

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi, i had a major problem with my tap water, after lab test, 4 metals readings came out at dangerous level even for human. Pond Detox has really helped. First 6 months, I was using it even week, then for 6 months every other week. Now once a month. Readings from tap still as bad but the pond is OK. Regardless of trickling system or large water change, you will need to dose for the pond, not just the water change. It so depends why you want to use it for.
