+THE KLINGON You are probably just trolling, but, if you aren't, what did you gain by preo-ordering that game? You would still have the same game if you had waited for a few reviews, or waited for a decent sale, and saved a lot of money.
While I absolutely agree that pre-orders are cancer of gaming industry, I get The Klingons point : there are few games, that I ABSOLUTELY KNOW I will like and that I want them no matter what, since day 1 so much, that I don't care about reviews, sales or price - I watch the development almost day-by-day and even WANT to support the developers. It's rare with the AAA games as they are usually overhyped shite (Witcher 3 being an exception imo), but for Xenonauts 2, new Mount and Blade or new Introversion game I can imagine I will pre-order.
Having said that, I agree 100% with Macks rant :)
The thing is, that people pre-order games because they think they know that they will like them. This is why people were caught out by games like Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Imagine if gamers stopped preordering game, imagine if they stopped listening to paid youtubers slavering out their reviews on release day because they were given a copy a couple of weeks earlier and had the big PR reps briefing them on what to say. Imagine if gamers said "Enough is Enough" and just point blank refused to buy these horrible games and demanded that the industry stopped these practices. It will never happen because the people who control the masses are the ones that are controlled by the big publishers. They make millions on their channels due to the hand outs and exclusives from the big pubs and the blind sheep keep watching them as they think it's all real.
It's not the big pubs that are the problem, it's the deluded gamers that can't spot a fake youtuber to save their sad lives.
Totally agree it's the gamers who are to blame. I remember just before the new doom came out, I commented on one of the trailers basically saying wait and don't preorder it, but a couple of fanboys jumped on us and were like "Already preordered wat ya gunna do bout it noob?" and another was like "lol fag dooms gonna be fucking awesome!" And then I facepalmed in realization that there is zero hope as long as there are gamers like that.

Worth A Buy Need For Speed payback DX edition is the hand-holding version, giving you the required cars and telling you where everything is off the bat with some exclusive shiny things. I got the standard version on purpose so I could buy my own cars and find the bonuses all by myself.

Plenty of niche genres still do it this way. Nothing extra just a discount for loyalty. Take flight sims as a niche genre. Happens there all the time, however regular gamers don't know about niche genres like that so they bitch all day long for buying shitty AAA games. Get on our level boys and join a good niche gaming genre. Community is so much better there as well, so it is a nice bag of awesomeness.
Can you please come down from your pedestal for a moment, lol. Regardless of niche or not, it's just bad practice. Some AAA titles still give pre order discounts, offhand I remember Just Cause titles always have a discount if you pre order.

£50 you have to hand over for the 'Standard' edition and then they have the gall to list all the shit they are NOT giving you for your £50. No, that's not enough money for them, they want £13 more off each of you for the extra content.

Hey Mack big fan here, i just wanted to recommend Gothic to You, it is in my country (Poland) seen as a legendary game that nothing else came close to, its a german game that went under the radar of basicly every single country except for the east. Theres almost no videos about it and i thought You could have a look and maybe enjoy it considering the state of the gaming industry recently, You need some quality gaming content mate cheers.

Kids in the future wont remember the days that dlc was done by the devs for the love of the game and the players not a seasonal pass. This just means that design a game with a pass cutting up the full one then lying and saying it is full. Its a joke that its become this was its like 100 quid per person they want to play a game for a bit its crazy

You know, I'm guilty of preordering, always have been. Especially on titles like Need for Speed where the reviews don't matter, I HAVE to try it myself.
But after this, I'm not going to.
Last NFS games i owned were like Shift 1 and 2. Both of them had the support for the steering wheels.
After that EA just went crazy, and tried real hard to suck the big D of Fast and Furious.
It's been doing that since the first underground game....
The only game I ever pre ordered was dead space 1, but fuck me was that a game. Don't even remember the bonus it came with, it probably didn't even have one but I loved that game. Don't understand how anyone can dislike this video, macks risking his ass to get his word out and ungrateful wankers be thumb Downing because it hurts their feelings. Grow up man.

Need for Speed Payback: you had a crew, someone betrays you for no damn justifiable reason, now that guy who betrayed you is the leader of the cartel in Fortune Valley, you and the crew have to make your way through it and avenge your crew in races, pursuits and battles
I only pre ordered one game in my life and it was worth it: Rising Storm 2 and the pre order "bonus" was 33% off. I played the beta and planned on buying it at full price so why not save a couple bucks? I'm pretty vocal about pre order rip offs myself but this one actually saved me money. Was this wrong?
All of the cars aren't taken away if you don't pre-order. Those cars under the pre-order bonus are given to you in advance. Also, they did add wheel support, but only for PC. Not trying to invalidate the video, but just a few facts if anyone sees.

Some driving game stories are good.. the last single player campaign i liked was Race Driver 3 which kinda had a story, i love Forza but i dont like how bland the grind of single player is.. but yeah the last NFS was complete dogshit, i gave it a go recently and played it for 30 seconds, went to turn the car and i went "oh no" when i discovered how the physics were.. i played it a few more hours but as a forza player, it was just so subpar i can't believe anyone would think that is acceptable physics in a driving game, total garbage

Preorders are just ways for the publishers to cover their marketing costs. Think back to the early days of EGM/OXM/OPM; adverts for games didn't mention preorders. They told you when the game was coming out and had screenshots. Now videos (prerendered) show how the game could be (in your dreams) and the only way for them to justify the marketing cost is to offer a preorder with bullshit "bonuses" that are cut content. Yet we are taken advantage of because the majority (intellectual minority) are more than happy to get reamed in the ass time and time again by those crooks.
BTW; bonus multiplayer XP is bullshit #shitfeaturesforwankers
pretty such these companies are able to comfortably cover the costs of marketing before the game goes on sale, don't give them an excuse.
Mack, I agree with your entire premise but there's one snag I think. EA games have a 10 hour trial if you are an access member (which is worth it for the discount alone) which means a player can play the game for 10 hours prior to release before deciding to pre-order. EA also has open betas lately so a consumer can be better informed before forking out for a preorder or at release.
It doesn't negate your points at all, but I think it alleviates a few of them that other publishers just don't do.

I think he's thinking the pre order down in the wrong way. literally all the things from the deluxe are mostly in the game, u just don't have to progress to unlock it. plus NFS 2015 had wheel support (for PC, ik that's kind of a drawback). Ghost games are not bullshitting the fans in my opinion. they respect them. if anything does goes wrong, this is ea's fault
I agree with the pre-order crap. The problem is when your talking about the standard and deluxe editions of the game, when you own a patreon that does the same thing.
This is why Rockstar is my favourite AAA game developer. They have the passion to make a good game. They could easily make shitty year released games and still make a tone of money but they don't as they want to make the best games.
