I am really excited to see how this turns out. There are some internal check valves that can be changed as well. The piston driven by the cam is sealed with a fiber piston ring, sort of like an o-ring. Sometimes these wear out, and that typically spells the end for that pump. But if changing the internal check valves doesn't fix it, you might try building up the ring with some kind of adhesive material, or rip the old one out entirely and experiment with substituting rubber o-rings. This could be very interesting and helpful to the old diesel Mercedes community.
I appreciate your video,. But if your video says removing vacuum pump,. Cut through the BS and stay on subject. I don't need to know about the leaking radiator.
Can I change the check valve without taking anything apart ? The fan and the belts and whatnot ?
where can I buy a kit for 1985 TD vacuum pump?

@@mjmcomputers any fix yet? thanks for sharing!!!
Larynx Suit yes, the check valves inside the pump had failed. I have another video posted replacing them. It’s been working great since.
@@mjmcomputers you said at 00:37 that the new check valve is working, can you share where that is located?
Larynx Suit it’s on top of the vacuum pump. It’s what the line screws into. I may have a video replacing it.

The previous owner should be facing abuse charges.
Yes it was definitely abused.
Man, if you are not sure how to do it and start your sentence with I think, better go to some cooking channel.
