Rex Brown, Bassist from Pantera has spoken about this concert in a recently posted interview.. He said when he arrived backstage they really didn't know what kind of crowd was out there.. Metallica giggled and said go look cause yall have to open the show....
There may have been 1.6 million in attendance that day but the gates were only supposed to let 500, 000 in at a time.. I can imagine with so many people trying to get into a free concert the gates eventually gave up trying to regulate who went in .. probably cause no one was leaving..
In Pantera's "Domination" video they have some shots from the sky, and you can kind of see a pathway carved into the crowd so as to get people in and out in case of emergency.. when looking at those overhead shots you have to remember that Pantera was opening and not everyone was let in yet.. kind of mind blowing.. thanks for the reaction.

To put this in perspective: In Iceland as a country there are 346,872 registered citizens. This crowd could have filled Iceland up almost 5 times. That certainly makes you lose your breath for a few seconds.😲

Can you imagine being on stage in front of 1.6 million people getting their first taste of freedom to your band?!? The definition of rock stars. Absolutely epic!

I think James said it was like being struck by lightning. He'd probably come to regret those words in 1992 ...good Lord that poor child💥

I have been to Loveparade 1996, 97 and 98. I know how it feels to party with 1.5 million people. It is just another level. Wish i would have been there in Moscow to see my absolute nr. 1 favorite band.

James was on the Joe Rogan podcast many years ago and it does get brought up. It's not a long segment but Joe basically asks him what it's like to play in front of a million people. The whole interview is definitely worth a listen though.

Some metal news, in the event that you missed it...
Delain put out a new album sampler which is going to be out February 10th. But that samoler , out yesterday is pretty good.
Frozen Crown album is out on the 10th of March, and I think they're going to put out the second video for that, with the first song being cold of the North ( excellent),....
I Hear the album is fantastic, and I think the next song to be on video, as they already put out a visualizer video, is called Victorious.

Thanks for your reaction (I'm a bit late, but I discovered your channel only today)--In this video, you see only the part of the crowd facing the stage. Want to see it all by helicopter: look for Monsters of Rock, Moscow 1991-riots. You'll also see what happened before Metallica and others went on stage. not pretty though, but it's the reality. Have a nice day.
