  • It's time to get this old sled ready for the season. In this installment we install a new crankshaft and assemble the bottom end. Enjoy!

Had the center crank bearing go in mine. Was covered by warranty thank god. Let the dealer do mine. Was told they sent machines out with bad bearings and just waited to see what came back then do the repair

Great camera angles, lighting, sounds and manual references. There’s a lot of work behind the scenes on this video for sure! Nice work and love the content Dennis. Subbed!

Previous comment with a great conclusion accidentally deleted: "So in conclusion, more than likely, when the piston seized the first time from the air leak in the carburetor boots, that same crank shaft bearing went dry. Your other three boots weren't leaking, consequently, those other respective bearings were still good so we know that air leak in the intake manifold was the culprit."

What did you put on the crank seals?

Why are you lubricating where the bearings sit? That's not a bearing journal.

Thank you for your question. You are right. The manual calls for the labyrinth grooves, oil pump gear and crankshaft seals to be greased. It does not call out the lubricating the case. I had seen some other content where the case was lubricated as I did so I decided to give it a shot. It's likely not necessary.

Where do you order parts from? I need to rebuild mine but finding parts seems confusing & difficult.

@@ericlandis8867 I primarily use Al's Snowmobile in Newport Vermont. They ship parts, are a great resource for questions, and have good inventory: www.alssnowmobile.com/. I have also used Hudon's sled salvage in a pinch and often find rare items on ebay. I hope this helps...

Babbit's OEM is a good resource for factory old stock and new parts. They have an iphone app that has parts diagrams and parts numbers too. Good luck.

@Dennis Does It All you dont ever lube a bore on any engine where a bearing sits. It always gets installed dry after an alcohol or acetone clean.
