I bought this vacuum earlier this week for work. Man I don't see it. I'm a makita fan boy and I can't get myself to give this vac thumbs up. It's just kinda sucks. Won't even pick up a nail.
Question. Would it be possible to use this vacuum to get rid of tough stains along with a steamer or basically.... pour boiling or hot water to then vacuum up the stain?
This video is the video that convinced me that battery tools are actually fully ready, and I have since moved almost all my power tools over to Makita LXTs.

Tools work better than expected, I was able to get almost all of them from the small owner operated hometown hardware store, and I stayed within my stimulus check expanded luxury budget. Downsides involve my fiancee sometime stealing my vacuum when she has a service call for a pool or spa, some size shaming over my subcompact drill, my using up (almost) my entire stimulus check expanded luxury budget, and some envy directed my way from people who wish they had invested in something like power tools instead of whatever they got, such as food, paying rent, or vacations where they caught covid.(I'm quite blessed that I didn't have a critical need for my second stimulus check)
I do simply adore the vacuum.
The subcompact hammer drill driver, XPH11, seems a bit more powerful than the drill driver that you use. I haven't had trouble with putting a 1 1/2" spade bit through late 1890-1910 era beams, newish 2x4's, and even was able to put a 3" hole saw through plywood cabinet base, particle board subfloor, some type of linoleum and it's backer board, and whatever hardwood (could be pine, so maybe not a hardwood) floor that was originally installed in the house. (I had to empty the hole saw on each layer of course). It wasn't as fast as my 5 year old corded DeWalt, but it was able to do it unlike my rather elderly hand-me-down NMH DeWalt battery drill. And yes, I know the speed difference because someone, not giving any names, changed their mind where they wanted the sink to be moved to. It was not because I had measured wrong and put the first hole down over top of a beam, this requiring shifting things a bit, or something silly like that.
I didn't expect the tools to function poorly; I just didn't expect the subcompact tools I got to be as powerful as they are.

I really appreciate the comparison to a corded vacuum. My biggest concern before buying the makita was "will this have comparable suction power." I do fire/water restoration, using equipment as a convenient step stool happens frequently on the job site. The makita vacuum seems perfect to use with tools for dust mitigation as well as great for smaller job site clean up. Awesome review video, you just sold me on the makita vacuum. I can now buy it with confidence!
Great review. This definitely fills the gap when you don't need the power of a larger shop vac. Perfect for a cleaning up after a small job and just the right size for cleaning the car by the looks of things. Definitely ordering one soon.
Nice! It’s a great unit. If the filter is clean and the battery is fresh it does a decent job with vehicles.
I went out and bought the Makita as dust is the decorator’s enemy but the lack of dust collection to a bag is the only drawback . Henry wins on that count but he’s heavy and mains powered although there is a battery version . Just went and bought a Makita drill with 5A batteries as once you start using the 750 you won’t use anything else! So portable especially up the narrow stairs of tiny English town houses. Only L grade filtration so I put a Henry dust bag over the cartridge held on with an elastic band to stop it getting dust in the vanes. Festool vacuum tube fits straight into the Makita, oh the irony! Great video cheered up my evening. Is that my life now🥨!

Nice review. I’m fairly well invested in Makita’s 18v tool system and I’ve been considering the purchase of one of their 18v vacuums for some time now. I appreciate a carpenter’s perspective on the sit ability and stand ability, or rather, load carrying capacity of such a tool as well as its suck ability. Your scientific analysis of the tool has convinced me that I would do well to get off the fence and sit on the vacuum instead. Thanks for sharing.

I use this for little cleanup stuff🌼 Like when drilling cabinets for knobs. For small stuff, it’s good. But don’t expect this to do any heavy duty cleaning. But as a spot vac for small debris, it’s great.
Do you use makita head attachment for stick vacuum in min 5.07 ? I am thinking of using this to clean not only car, house, and gardening.

Can you get a foam cover for the filter to make it last longer between cleaning for the finer dust? I have it and I lose so much power so quickly have to clean it so often. I see other vacs have the foam

At 5:04 in the video, can you please share the model number of the extension wand and floor nozzle you're using, please? I've looked high and low for compatible attachments and have come up with no solution.
Nom Solo that is the Festool compact cleaning set. FEST203430. It’s not cheap but it is awesome. The fit is not perfect with the Makita, you have to jam it on a bit. It’s like 95%.

I stumbled across this review while looking at the Makita. Nice job.
I'm getting this for general house use when my main vacuum does not work... I need something super portable, easy to carry and use while holding it. Perfect for cleaning blinds, window jams, etc.
BTW... the #1 thing I hate about all vacuums and fittings... there is no standard and they are all different. You need a pile of adapters that cost as much as the machines they are for.

Yo, I just bought this Vac and they supply you with a reducer & rubber fitting also, They might have added these parts after this.
I got the 40 volt xgt last week. It’s stellar and I would recommend it for cordless. If cords are possible I would assume festool would be the clear pick though

Does it matter what filter you use and can you just use any kind of filter and/or skip the filter entirely?
I definitely think you need to use a filter. The vacuum comes with a reusable filter that you can clean off. I usually just knock it off and then use my blower to blow it off...down wind:) I imagine you can order new ones but the will last for a long time.
What brand is that vacuum hose attachment that you have? I bought this vacuum for my miter saw and it doesn’t fit that either lol

I´ve got a Makita dustbuster, which is a cheap POS that I´m gonna toss, but I can still keep the aquired battery and charger for powering this XCV11.

dopey310k just tested it out with the crevice tool on the carpet in my truck. It works better than I would have expected. You’d probably still be better off with a corded vacuum, but if power availability is a problem the Makita cordless will get the job done.

I just got/used mine today, did the whole car *almost* on one not-full battery, had a bunch of mess/was trying to be thorough, didn't time it -- tool seemed quiet-effective. After folk had warned it wouldn't do well, etc. Well? I liked the result. My one issue on my first use, I wanted to put the unit in the car seat while cleaning the floor below that seat, but the suction-end sticking out toward the floor has the blowing-end risking being up against the car seat... I still did it, just had to position the unit a bit funky sometimes. Cleaned my car floors, trunk, etc, pretty nicely, was nicely portable, and uses the same battery as all my other Makita toys so when I saw the bare tool on sale I snapped it up. No more having my passengers get into a seat with crushed leaf-mess on the floor, or whatever... Oh, and after I vac'ed my car I moved the hose to the other side and blasted the ground near my car, it pushes away dry leaves/debris, as to some of the clumpier/wetter/etc stuff, not so much. But it's not supposed to be a leaf blower/good enough/I'm enjoying the gizmo. And recommending it for cordless auto-detailing, absolutely. If you don't mind a cord -- and I do -- but if you settle for corded use I'd note there's a large corded rigid vac being sold with an auto-detailing kit that, yes, probably kicks the crap out of Makita. And piles of youtube vids recommending it (go watch vac videos, I did...). I liked the vac, the maker, and the various auto-detailing attachments in that package, *But* getting that out to my car? Just a total hassle. So I went with this... It may catch fire tomorrow, but as of the first day? I am quite pleased, and my car's nice 'n clean.
Quite effective, and 5 amp hours on the battery. I started at 3/4 bars, I needed just-a-bit-more so i swapped to a similarly drained second battery which I didn't query for charge but should have been about-the-same (they're a pair that was being used with Makita's 36 volt (2x 18 volt battery) chainsaw).
im looking to buy one for my car (PET HAIR) on the carpet do you thing that makita will do the job? is strong Enough to full the hair from the carpet?

How’s the battery life? I have the Milwaukee m12 fuel vacuum and I get awful run time, granted I’m using aftermarket m12 batteries. But it’s really a battery hog. How is this one? My main system is Makita LXT, no clue why I didn’t buy this one.

Been thinking about getting this. It’s a hassle if you pack everything up and forget to clean up an area in the basement or attic at the end of the day. You have to pull your heavy vacuum out again and bring it in the house to the basement or attic and then try to find an outlet. It takes more time doing that than it does vacuuming up the mess.
This Makita vacuum might be an aggravation saver.
I definitely just love having it on hand to clean up things as they happen.

The dust want is from Festool. The hose is from Rockler.

I bought a replacement hose and joined the 2 together to give me an extra long hose. I paid around £10 for it from a spare parts supplier, can't recall their name but it should appear in a web search.
Great video! I didn't know Makita had a biscuit. How has that held up? I was drooling over the Festool, but don't want to drop $1500 on that.
I don’t use the biscuit a tonne but it’s held up, and seems to be well built.

It sucks...that u dont get the pipe reduction included. There is nice adapter from TRITON for few bucks and IT feats on this vaccuum and on small saw.

Anyway I picked up a ryobi handheld vac (Model# P714K) and wasn't expecting much from this style of vac - just needed something for quick pickups. I was really surprised - it is very powerful and super convenient! So anyway, there is my giving back for today. Stay funny!

Kermit I don’t thinks so, I can’t bare to watch this video again! I must have shot that video 10-15 times! So difficult to film yourself🥶. I do remember the camera dying very suspiciously during the Festool cutting... I had to splice that part together to make it seem the same. I could have redone the whole thing but I was too lazy! Lol had been making the video for about 30 hours at that point:(. All in all the test was a fair one, but perhaps in the video I came across to pro Makita... yet I love that cordless vacuum, it’s a top 3 all time favourite tool for me.
Makita got hose adaptors included also if attached hose in other end can be blower. Cheers

you're right it won't replace a shop vac for big jobs. It'smust a super handy to keep on hand for smaller jobs.

Dude. Nice video. But there are actually adapters from makita to attach it to their tools. So you don’t really need the extra hose 😉

Yes there is, it looks pretty nice, I’d like to get one to pair with a cordless miter saw in the future.
Got one on Monday used it all week an it’s great mostly with i planer on mdf and no dust .used it on Tuesday to do a door bottom .needed to take about 10mm of pine off and it did choke an spill about two handfuls of shavings but later found this was because the dust bag was blocking the inlet .its great mine cost £370 I know it’s not cheap but if it’s cordless am more likely to use it

Can it work with 10 cordless mitre saw
It could do a pretty decent job if you kept the filter clean. It lacks capacity so it would be a bit of a pain if you were doing a lot of cutting.

get the aws vac for your mitre. it will be automatic dust collection just like a corded vac and saw, but via bluetooth. its double the price of the vac reviewed but much more powerful with added features.

Hi! How do you compare it to festool midi?
They are pretty different vacuums for different purposes. The Makita cordless is great for cleaning up small messes and works well hooked up to a skill saw or track saw. The Midi would be better cleaning up large messes and hooked up to anything.
