- While I'm out and about on road trips, I try to swing by a new fabric store and unique spot for fun. This was my stop as I passed through Atlanta on my recent trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Gail K Fabrics keeps up their inventory. It gave me a little glimpse of what it would be like to shop at a store in the garment district in New York or Los Angelos.

I second Fine Fabrics!! That place is so huge, you can get lost for days and still find fabric you hadn't seen your first few days.
I’ll definitely have to visit!
We have Joannes, hoppy lobby. We have two more of a specialty stores. Very small. This made me envious!
Yeah I usually go to Fine Fabric their sister store. I've only been in Gail once
There is a fabric store in Williamston South Carolina called all about fabrics.
😊
Ha! That store is a couple of miles from my house. I’d seen it but never gone in! I’ll have to go take a look.
Where? What is the name?...which area? Please,...Thank you!
Next time you’re in the area go to Norcross instead of the city. There is another Gail k in Norcross annnnndddddd Fine Fabrics which is gigantic and more reasonably priced than Gail K.
I’ll definitely have to stop by there! Thank you for the recommendation
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I so miss the giant wear houses my mother would take me to in Rochester NY as a child. You paid by the pound. So I can’t wait to find these
Do they have a good amount of drapery and upholstery fabrics?
Is Mary Jo's in Gastonia still open? I think it's the biggest dressmaking fabric store I have ever shopped in (NYC included0.
Sadly they just shut down last year. Pretty much hardly any unique fabric stores in the Charlotte area these days!
@@thetailorette that's too bad! I feel like more people are garment sewing than there were 10-15 years ago but it's harder to find shops where you can see fabric before purchasing. Probably true of a lot of things but I appreciate getting my hands on fabric before buying it.
@@christineb8148 yes I agree! It’s a rare treat to go shopping in person. Someday I believe garment sewing will become much more popular.
Could you, please, write the name of the store and the address? Thank you!!
Amazing! All our great fabric stores are gone, they weren’t just for fabric, they were full of other sewers who’d advise and troubleshoot for the newbies. I learned so much in the old Krauss in New Orleans.
Were those madras plaids?
