    • @inssaf767
      @inssaf767 Před rokem +1

      Im not an expert, i learned this when i started my hair journey. If you have oily scalp or you have dandruff, there is nothing bad about using a sulfate shampoo. In fact, you should opt for it to get a clean and non itchy scalp. Im not saying sulfate gets rid of dandruff tho. But if you have dry scalp, and the sulfate shampoo dries it out even more (cuz it depends on the person plus the sulfate percentage in shampoos is very little and regulated), u can opt for a sulfate free one. In all cases, just make sure to not compromise a clean scalp. A dirty scalp can lead to hairfall. For an oily scalp, the sulfate will do more good than bad. When it comes to the silicone conditioner, it's not bad to use it on the hair especially amodimethicone, but make sure the conditioner isn't loaded with many silicones cuz it can weigh down the hair on the long-term, even if it makes it super soft and shiny for the time being.

    As a hairstylist of almost a few years, I can share with you you, that you're not intended to apply harsh shampoo on your hair.
    I have observed hairlines of numerous people, and I spotted that individuals who were using strong shampoos generally had weak hairline.
    So I suggest only to use natural shampoo only. I myself use and advise to apply litttleextra coconioon shampoo only.
    Also, do warm oil massage twice a week as it boosts circulation and encourages hair growth.

      I started using this cocoonioon anti-hair fall shampoo which has been quite impressive. It smells really nice and lathers well, leaving my hair feeling clean and fresh. It's helped reduce hair fall and breakage over time, which is a great result. It removes frizziness. It's become my go-to for stronger, healthier hair.

      I'm on fanestaride and the prescription shampoo that starts with a "K" and it's not helping its been months and the shedding stopped but 4 some reason it's shedding again while still being treated so I'm assuming it's stress. It can b a lot of things hair sheds too much about 3 to 6 months after what ur body may think of as a traumatic event like any kind of stress to the body or mind like child birth , stressful things if one's life , exercise believe it or not.... what ever stresses that may b in ur life may b causing it.. I'm in the same boat as u.. but also ur age and generics play a key factor aswell.. I also lost about 60% of my hair too started like 3 yrs ago.. so I was put on Propecia but it didn't grow any hair back and now it's shedding again so it's time to see a dermatologist.. if u have dandruff of any kind like me n ur scratching alot ur hair may fall out in the places that's affected.. my hair still is growing fast it's always been long but thinner then ever..

    Hi Dr Sam I have eczema on the scalp and dry/curly hair. I need to moisturise my scalp and hair as much as possible using scalp serums and oils on the hair. I cannot wash it too frequently as it dries it out further, no matter how much mask/conditioner I use. I shampoo once a week and in warmer weather conditioner wash once in between. I mostly air dry to avoid heat styling. My hair is never greasy until the night before washing, when I apply an oil treatment overnight. I get tired of some Dr's saying that washing daily is recommended - my hair would hate that, as would my scalp. i've tried washing more often and it made me really itchy and even drier. i'm disabled so I'm not exactly doing intensive workouts and live in Scotland where it's pretty cold for much of the year. My menopausal (3 years since my final period) skin and scalp basically doesn't produce oil anymore and I always had dry/eczema prone skin and scalp anyway. There are many treatments available for oily skin conditions on the scalp, but far fewer for such dry scalps prone to itch. I use a gentle fragrance free shampoo and a hydrating scalp serum. Deep conditioners, leave in conditioners, curl creams and oil are my hair friends. Best wishes.

    • @Princess-rb9yd
      @Princess-rb9yd Před 2 lety

      Oils cause excessive buildup on the scalp which aggravates the eczema and don’t moisturize your scalp. Only water can truly moisturize your scalp. I would recommend doing the 30 day hair detox (look it up on CZcams or Google) and washing more frequently with hydrating shampoos only on the scalp instead of cowashes bc they don’t clean anything. I would refrain from putting leave in conditioner or anything really on your scalp, only the strands and ends because excessive buildup can lead to dandruff or eczema. Washing your hair at least once every 7-10days is necessary but 5 days is a good starting point if you need to it more frequently. I would try to figure out what triggers your eczema (stress, sweat, fragrance, mold, etc) and possibly do an allergy test. If you absolutely need something on your scalp, I’d only recommend spray leave on conditioners with very few oils in it only once (max twice) a week before wash days . Ditch the deep conditioners and get a good quality wash out conditioner. I have the same type of hair as you and the tips given to me by hair professionals and doctors really helped me

    I'd love to understand if hair texture can change and how frequent. Is it genetic or caused by stress, diet, heat damage, etc. For example I've always had fine dark brown hair that is naturally wavy but over the years the wave pattern is less defined and some sections are straight, some are wavy, etc. I'm curious if that is a result of heat damage or just natural texture changes. I've also noticed I have more coarse hair strands that appear a dark black or just very course and more textured than my "standard" fine hair. Love the content you produce, thank you!

    It’s so great to have an actual dermatologist speaking on issues normally addressed by “beauty gurus” who gather their information mostly from the internet where others like them write their opinions that are often not grounded in science. And then poor consumers, in search of cure for their skin and hair issues, end up wasting so much money grabbing all the lates products recommended by their go-to beauty guru (who probably got their video sponsored by the brand they recommended). Anyway, all of that is to say: thank you for doing this work. I love it that you always underscore that everyone’s skin and hair is different and requires “trial and error” approach to find the right products/routines.

    Now she said the color will stay longer in cold water…true or false.
    She also says the less often I wash my hair, the less fading of the dye I will have. I kind of think from experience of several years of her dying my hair that this is true.
    Finally, what about sulfate free? She swears it’s important for helping keep the color bright as long as possible.
    Just a note that I had dark brown hair naturally so we do bleach the roots every time we dye which is about 6-8 weeks. Sometimes less often if I use a color deposit like Punky Color.

    Wow this is super helpful in clearing up myths. Please do a follow-up on thinning hair and what's been proven to work. Also minoxidil has side effects and I read it can cause itching and worsen dandruff after prolonged use. While it worked for me, I am noticing that it makes my scalp itch so looking for alternatives. Just ordered nanoxidil to see if it provides same benefit while giving my scalp a rest from minoxidil.

    This was helpful. I did keto about 3 years ago and lost 100lbs and lost a lot of hair even prior to doing keto I had thin fine hair. I did take biotin and collegen so I didn’t loose as much as others. I have done blood tests to see if I’m deficient in certain vitamins and nope! It’s so annoying my hair is at its worst. I have super dry scalp with small patches that even show up on my forehead past my hairline and then my brows started drying tok and get flaky! It’s so embarrassing. Thin fine hair and flaky on scalp/forehead and eyebrows.

    I recently figured out that my hair wasn’t falling out as much as it was breaking off. Despite not coloring, not using heat barely ever (maybe once every couple months?), sleeping on a silk pillowcase, not pulling it back hard or using super tight elastics (I’ve been using invisibobble) my front and top layer of hair is just brittle, thin and breaking off (although I am thinning in the front as well). My hair is literally not getting longer in these places because of it. The bottom layers however are growing and not experiencing this issue… I’m so lost… I’m starting to wonder if it’s my city water… 150 ppm hardness and you can smell the chlorine when you turn it on. I’ve spent so much money trying products and I’m so lost and defeated.

    • @MURPHxiii
      @MURPHxiii Před 2 lety +1

      @UCyYEMFrjqTayNzG8ZDIgm3A I decided, for the sake of my wallet, I’m going to try washing my hair with filtered water (I have a gravity filter for drinking water) for a good month and see if a difference is apparent before I spend any more money. Bitch be poor, I can’t afford these hair and skin issues 🤣 but thank you so much for the recommendation, I will for sure look that brand up if I am able to determine my water is the culprit 🤓
