    Watching these tracer rounds really drives home the importance of knowing what is beyond your target. It looks like a good time was had by all.

      Yep, unless your berm is perpendicular to the path of the bullet they can and will still skip and go airborne.

      Not necessarily. The tracer part separates all the time from the projectile.

    Long range accuracy with a .308 round for me with my weatherby vanguard in 7.62 mm is about making the rifle as accurate as possible. I started with a full alloy bedded action in a co-polymer stock,a fully floated barrel and a trigger lightened from factory 4lb down to 2 lb. An adition of a nightforce long range scope,and a muzzle break took my factory rifle acuracy from average to exceptional. 100 yards with no modifications i was grouping 2 inch groups,after modifications the groupings were within half inch with factory ammo. Im now hitting 1000 yard targets with consistent 2 inch groupings with a rifle that was only meant for 100 yard accuracy. Ive seen guys with sako rifles worth 3 times what mine is getting no were near my accuracy and its all because the rifle is not set up correctly.

      @IDGAF56852 Před rokem

      @@williamdon3442 yeah it is possible, and now I recently purchased a MDT LSS gen 2 chassis which has made the rifle even more accurate. My home loads are also of course making a big difference with accuracy over these distances. This is on good days with no wind too I should mention.

    Rule of thumb for level ground shooting and sighted-in bang on target in calm and windless days: When the wind blows from West to East, or from the Right side of the shooter, the shots will fly High and to the Left. When the wind blows from East to West, or from the Left side of the shooter, the shots will fly Low and to the Right. In a head wind (wind blowing straight on shooter's face, shots will fly High and in a back wind (wind on the shooter's back of the head), shots will fly Low.

      Per my research there is no added harm to the barrel than firing any other comparable non-tracer round. You'll notice in the video the tracer doesn't really activate until about 100 yards downrange.
      6.5Grendel... not likely, but you can give it a Google. 6.5Grendel is pretty niche and I'd bet there is little to no tracer availability for that.

    Out of curiosity. At how many yards are YOU (Highjack86) able to hit quarter groups with a .223?

    • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  Před 6 lety

      Groups the size of a quarter? Well a quarter is only .955" in diameter which is sub-moa at your standard 100 yards. I don't consider anything less than 5 rounds a "group". So it depends a lot on the rifle, but most AR15s won't shoot .955" groups at 100 yards consistently.

    • @tophersadvice
      @tophersadvice Před 6 lety

      Highjak86 alright I would say I'm hitting half dollar 4 round groups at 100 yards

    • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  Před 6 lety

      A lot of it comes down to the shooter, but the rifle and its barrel are obviously a factor as well. Ammo is the 3rd big component. Good factory ammo can make even a medicore non-precision barrel tighten up dramatically. With my 16" "SPR" 556 AR that has the RA Ultramatch barrel and some good 77gr factory match ammo I would say I can shoot .75-.85" groups consistently at 100 yards, but that gun is capable and has shot the best between .60" and .70" at the same range.

    • @tophersadvice
      @tophersadvice Před 6 lety

      Highjak86 that's intense! My barrel is just a fluted .223 wylde barrel and I use Cap Arms .223 (rest in peace cap arms) and I find after about plugging 3-5 rounds my accuracy dramatically changes I assume that's just because breathing and trigger pull start to weave a little and lose stability on round 5 so need to take a break haha
