Today, I want to introduce you to Picard. Picard is one of the most popular stores in France, and French consumers actually voted it as their favorite brand in 2021 (and not for the first time, either). What’s so unique about it? Well, it only sells frozen food.
This video is not sponsored by Picard in any way, but I wanted to tell you more about it, especially as I know frozen food is not as popular in other countries. In today’s lesson, I’ll tell you a little bit more about this store, what makes it so appealing to French people, and the different types of things you can buy there. C’est parti !
Take care and stay safe.
😘 from Grenoble, France.
Géraldine
Picard is popular in the U.S., too, but he's a starship captain instead.
bonjour, Geraldine! I’m still practicing but so many tips and tricks of yours have been a big help. I would never have known about Picard, or considered buying from a shop that is only frozen food, but now I am really enjoying it! Seems to be quite good quality and tasty too. merci et bon appétit!
I am living in Paris and France for six months. I felt in love with Picard. Quality and price is awesome.
I am trying to think of a Québec equivalent. I'll keep thinking.
In Paris I see Picard all the time, but have never bought anything there yet.
The American equivalent I can think of is Trader Joes! Although they don't exclusively sell frozen food, they are famous for their frozen ready-meals (and popular with hipsters too).
Trader Joe's is really a German brand (Aldi Sud I think)
Not really Inbar. Non only they have a totally different business model, they product offer is dramatically different.
Not sure where you got this idea from ? You might want to read the books out on TJ: the one from Coulombe the creator of TJ, and the more incisive from Benjamin Loor’s.
@@guruphiji he got that idea from the fact that the Aldi company operates Trader Joe’s in the US.
@@guruphiji here in France there are also Trader Joe’s brand things (nuts, sun dried tomatoes etc. available at the Aldis.
Always learn so much about modern France from your video while improving my French.
Obsessed with Picard! Miss it so much! 😢
Hi, this is amazing - my maiden name is Picard (only spelt the English way with a K!)
And the FNAC!!!
Pity they didn't catch on in Norway.
Décathlon is rubbish, it reminds me of J.D Sports in the UK, cheap sweat shop clothes sold at over inflated prices.
Which sports brand doesn't use sweat shops though.
I like your positive and nuanced approach ! 😵💫
