Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers...the whole is so much greater than it's individual parts.... that's why they were so incredible, so classically great....a once in a lifetime happening! Tom was that gravitational force that brought the best of them together....and he will be forever.... FOREVER missed! A treasure that was...........😢😢😢 I miss you Tom.
No truer words. You’re in good company, we all miss Tom.
One of the best guitar players of all time.He is humble too..❤
Thanks Mike for being part of something so wonderful as Tom Petty & The Heartbrakers💘
Doesnt get any better than Mike Campbell❤
Mike's a great guitar player and nice guy. Hope he has a big career after the loss of Tom :)
He has a great band The Dirty Knobs. I just met him, Steve Ferrone, and the rest of the band, they are great! Mike is such a nice guy.
a class act, Mike Campbell.....Along with TP and the heartbreakers. They stamped the time machine with songs that are in every one of our souls....how lucky are we?
What a legend, I really like his playing and writing
Saw Mike and the dirty knobs couple of months ago. Freaking awesome show. Legend
Me too! There is just something magical about them! They are all so talented anyway, but they are so fun!!
I had the honor of working with the Dirty Knobs in December 2000 at JJ’s Blues in San Jose California
They only did 2 shows in the SF and South Bay Area that year
The other show was at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley California
The musicians were
Steve Ferrone
Jason Sinay
Ron Blair
Mike Campbell
I never have seen this line up again as the Dirty Knobs
Petty is the current era's Cole Porter - writing with great insight on songs about daily life in every sphere. He has refined the craft and raised his own game. The man had courage as well as curiosity and he lived by what he believed. Music is the worst industry for honourable behaviour, but it's why Tom Petty prevailed.
Incredible guitar player....amazing band.
This interview is particularly amazing for one thing easily overlooked: Mike Campbell is so present, here, so engaged, and so unprepossessingly authentic in his every thought and response. In this era, his level of fame and established "cred" is so rare, and so hard to come by, yet he isn't (disfiguringly) strategizing or even thinking twice about any of his responses. You can see his thinking on his face. He isn't hiding it. We live now in an era where the coalescence of all those things is so scarce, and maybe even not really possible. A musician (artist) who is already in a pantheon (whether he sees it that way or not) sees his best mode of being as "just be me, authentically" when interviewed by a person not necessarily on the same page. This is a moment in history. It's so cool, and maybe less pedestrian than most would ever think to notice.
_MOJO_ is a treasure! 🔥
So much love and respect for Mike Campbell. We saw him and The Dirty Knobs open for The Who on Tom's birthday last year in Portland.
What a fantastic Thanksgiving surprise! After I first listened to this, and then began listening to the album, I was ashamed of myself for not having heard it.
But now that I have, I feel nothing but thankful, and excited to be hearing this album for the first time!!! This interview was so intriguing, that I had to check out the album being discussed, and WOW is just not a big enough word!
Thank you, from a 70-yr-old Hippie and TP&TH Fan!
I worked a show with the Dirty Knobs at JJ’s Blues Club in San Jose California in December 2001
Dirty Knobs Christmas Tour 2001
Members were:
Steve Ferrone - Tiger
Ron Blair - Snake
Jason Sinay - Ape
Mike Campbell - Gator
I had the T-shirt
I have the autographs, set list, and bio
The CD was not available yet
They did 1 other show that year at a club called The Sweetwater in Mill Valley California
Was anyone else at the show I did with them???
I was the house audio engineer from 1996 to 2005
JJ’s Blues was a 100 seat hole in the wall blues music club known worldwide
I love Mike’s musicality and personality.What a character!!!
Saw MC with TP Auckland NZ 1980 & with Bob Dylan 1986. Total legend..
Thank you so much for this!
I always wondered how Mike and Neil felt backstage with the Fleetwood Mac theatrics on their short time tour with them. They are such humble and nice guys who really are “ band in one room” guys.
To everyone out there…if you get a chance to see Mike’s band, Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs, GO, go see them live. You want regret it!
Make rock ‘n’ roll great again🇺🇸🎸👍🏻
I knew I would like it, but I didn’t know it would be this much. Dammit. Keep ‘em coming. So cool

He looks amazing.
@@hannaj4032 and sounds so much like Tom.
Humble man❤
Extended is so cool
Treasures 🌟
It's strange how similar he is to Tom.
I don’t know who this guy is but he definitely sounds like he went to high school in Jacksonville. 😂❤
He did! Graduated from Rebault (sp) he went there with my sister in law.
Thanks! 🙌 What year is this interview?
2010
@@Harps66 Thanks! 👍
Can’t turn off the tears…
Mike is one of the best guitar players in the world... so tasty!
Have to be the mean guy here. It almost seems like Mike doesn't feel like answering the questions. Maybe a bad day. It seems like Mike doesn't feel like being there. Just my take on the video. It's his eyes. Just keeps looking down, and blinking.
THE MAN!
>>>Sam Jones!
It’s just a lot of asking questions that sound like they’ve been written down in advance rather than meeting the interviewee where they’re at. No organic flow. Although TP is my fav band I’d all time and MIke C original since Mudcrutch Gainesville FL - there was as no taping on here.
Failed interview.
Do better man. This was scripted questions. Not a conversation. Lost it’s depth. Sam - connect time people more!
