The easiest way to answer the debate of Messi vs. Cristiano and say Messi is not only better he is just incomparable is the fact that Cristiano is a goal scoring god right? with 807 goals under his belt? yet Messi has more Golden Boots which is the trophy of the highest goal scorer, he has 7 Ballon D'ors (the trophy of the best player in the world for that certain year) which is CRA-ZY while Cristiano has 5 that also crazy. But back to the subject Cristiano has more goals but Messi has better goal ratio and he played less 2 years and most importantly Ronaldo is just a goalscoring machine while Messi is better playmaker better team player better dribbler better free kick taker he builds up the offense and finishes it while Ronaldo gets most of his goals as tapins and penalties... Messi has a G/A (Goals + Assists record) of 1084 (759 goals) which is alien like especially his 320 assists records which is also more than playmakers themselves lol while Messi is not always a Playmaker & 759 goals behind Ronaldo while not being a pure Striker as well you see where i'm coming from here? he is the most complete player of all time. Crsitiano has 807 goals and 253 assists (1060 G/A).
Conclusion:
Messi is a better goal scorer despite being 48 goals behind Ronaldo but played less games (140+ games less than him)
Messi is a better in every other aspect of the game (dribbling, playmaking, vision, freekick)
Messi has more "individual" trophies: two more Golden Balls, two more Golden Boots and 4 more Best Playmaker award
Messi's playstyle is more unique, efficient and fun to watch, Cristiano can't build up attacks and finish em, can't create chances and score at the same time and can't dribble past an entire team he would be dead without good playmakers in his team (that's why he never won any Golden Ball since he left Real Madrid)

one thing for sure is that messi is the best attacking player in football history, some players only master one element of attacking football, for example Ronaldo is a master at scoring goals, ozil is the master of creating chances, or ronaldinho is the best at dribbling and skill moves, but messi is an outlier who master all aspects of attacking football, he is only a few goals behind ronaldo with more than 100 fewer games played, he has the most assist in football history, and his advanced playmaking stats is the best in every category (throughball, keypass, chances created, dribbles, ball progression), the only argument you can use against him is his lack of success in his national team, but even then he already win the latest continental cup called copa America in 2021 while being the top scorer and assist maker in the history of argentina, so yes i would say attacking wise messi is the best in football history and probably the best player of all time

And yes, Messi did played a key part in their succes but the entire team was stack with elite and worldclass talent such as (and i'm just gonna name a few) Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto, Dani Alves, Pique, Yaya Toure, Carles Puyol, David Villa, Thierry Henry, Busquets. And to many the best duo of midfielders to ever play the game Xavi and Iniesta. This Barcelona team was one of the most dominant teams ever and you wanna see some incredibly goals with amazing, intricate and borderline bullshit teamwork, you sould try watching a few highlights of that.
Ronaldinho was out the very moment Guardiola took the reins, traded to AC Milan. He wasn't part of the legendary "Pep's Barcelona" at all.
Eto'o was traded after Pep's first season (probably the biggest mistake of Guardiola as a manager in Barcelona, but still it was just one season) so even though his goals were pivotal in that season, I don't think he truly belongs in that list as he was out far too soon. Yaya Touré had at best a testimonial part in it aswell (only played in Guardiola's first season as Busquets exploding into the fist team meant he was benched more times than not)
I am a barcelona and Messi fan . Messi and Ronaldo have done something historic in football they are players who score 40- 50 goals each season consistently for 10+ years , they destroyed many records , no sport has ever had 2 once in a life time players play at the same time that's what made it so amazing , the sport (only in sport) rivalry was incredible to watch , him moving to Real madrid literally built an Era of football , those el classicos were something else .
I wouldn't say the only sport. There was a time when Bird, Magic, Kareem, and Jordan were all on the court at the same time. That is 4 of the greatest players in their respective sport at one time. It was only for a few years, but Bird and Magic had a 10+ years and they are top 3/4 of all time. Regardless, Ronaldo and Messi are 2 of the greatest athletes of all time in any sport and it's a pleasure to get to watch their careers in our lifetime.

That Argentina team wasn’t a one man team but even with Messi they never had the quality or the team to bit a team like France or Germany because they had some of the greatest players in every position. It would be one of the biggest miracle ever if Messi managed to drag Argentina to a World Cup. They could have won in 2014 if he had a great strike partner and not higuain who really let Messi down and then let him take the blame.

This is for what you said about not knowing who is the best, i posted this on other video of an other youtuber, but is something you need to know.
Idk how much you know about the football world so im going to basics. Every country has their own league and their own cups, and at the same time every continent has their own cup where the first places in each league compete to know who is the best. So in total each team play for 3 titles every year, and if you win the domestic league or cup, you qualifaer for another, and if you win the the "continental" (? you compete for an other 2 (in case of wining the Champions League is 2 and the Europa League is 1). In total, a team can play for 6 titles (in England is 7).
Then you got the individual awards known as Ballon d'Or (Golden ball in english) that is to determinate who's the best player in the world in that season, and you got the golden boot that is given to the player who has more goals in the season.

The 08/09 Barca team was the best that I've seen followed by the 2011 team.
In football you will never find a bad player with good numbers. You can find very good players with numbers that doesn't reflect how good they are (Xavi and Iniesta are great examples of that) but if a player has good numbers he is very good for sure. If a guy makes 30 goals in a season, it doesn't matter if he doesn't do anything else, he is great just because of that. Football is a low score game so putting numbers always has a huge impact and you have to notice that socoring in football is very related to instinct. It's something that you have or you don't and players who do have that instinct are great even if they suck at everything else. There are tons of examples of players thar are legends for his teams that you will consider average or even bad players before showing you how many goals they made. For example, Hugo Sanche scored 38 goals in 89-90 LaLiga season wich was the all-time record at the moment and all of those 38 goals were done at first touch. He didn't need to control a single ball to set an soring record thath lasted 20 years (untill Messi-Cristiano era). That was his only talent, putting the ball in the goal, and everybody who saw him play will tell you he was great.

Messi is more of a complete player. He is a playmaker. His role isn't just scoring goals in football he assists,makes key passes, creates chances to get a goal for his team. He has the most assists in football history with 363 assists. He is also a pretty fair player. He doesn't try to cheat or dive. The main thing why I say he's the best player is because of his dribbling skills. It amazes me everytime I watch it. He has a full collection of medals and trophies meaning he has completed football's achievements.
