91 goals in half the amount of games .... bro he scored more goals than certain teams got all season
Don’t forget his assists and playmaking and dribbling that year too. Like 91 goals AND being a playmaker is crazy
@edgar80lol actually it was 113. 91 goals and 22 assists in 69 games.
@LEOMESHI the msn record is 122 goals, no trio made more than that, previously ronaldo benzema and higuain held that record with 118 goals
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
91 goals in 69 games. He scored more goals than entire teams managed to score in a whole year. The record will never be broken
this record will be broken. breaking records is an integral part of human nature. the question of substance is: will you live long enough to see it happen? as humans we improve naturally over time at anything we do, we just dont get worse at things and so we accel at anything we do. there is the disturbing fact among this, that we werent able to abandon war as a concept, which has some very dark implications ( ie we will see a bigger war, the question is only: when?)
@@homerp.hendelbergenheinzel6649 "Records are there to be broken", maybe 1 day somebody is gonna break that record. But, its gonna be difficult.. Messi’s stats is really anomaly
On December 17, 2022, Messi finally won the World Cup for Argentina... at the age of 35 and was also voted the tournament's best player. He is still the best player in the world today. And always will be for many reasons. His character is just as exceptional as his skills on the pitch.
18, 2022
Ronaldo is the GOAT!!!!
It was dec 18 lol... We're not in the Americas
@Davey No because goat means greatest of all time and he definitely is not.
18 bro😅
A ballon d’or is like an MVP, Messi has the most in history also….people would say he wasn’t the Goat because he hasn’t won a WC with Argentina but he won the WC last year which made him the undisputed 🐐🇦🇷
Ballon d’or is basically mvp of basketball but if 4 other countries had basketball leagues of similar quality skill-wise to the NBA and anyone from those countries could win it. Technically it includes everyone in the world but the best of the best teams are spread out around 5 different countries in their own leagues
Didn’t mean to reply to you… my fault
To answer some of your questions in the video:
1.) Messi scored 91 goals in 69 games in a single season, he beat the record of a german player in the 1970's who scored 85 goals in a calendar season.
2.) The leagues in Europe work completely opposite of how it works in America, where each country have its own league and teams as well as having a point system to determine who becomes champion and who gets relegated (kicked out of the league, watch more videos on the internet to learn more about it)
3.) Winning six trophies in a year is really phenomenal because in a season you are eligible to win the league, league cup and european cup, there are also other tournaments but you have to win other tournaments in order to qualify. Winning 1 trophy means you are good, 2 means you have a good squad with depth, 3 means you are the best team in the world and anymore means you are the best of all time.
4.) Ballon d'or is like the MVP award in NBA but if NBA had other leagues in 5 other countries with similar level is more focused on individual performance rather than overall team performances.

Extra Notes:
*Football pitches (Soccer Fields) is eleven times bigger than a basketball court
*Games are 90 minutes long with no ads, no breaks, no stoppages during the 45 minutes game time, which is a big plus compared to american sports
Idk I argue if you win the double as in ucl and league cup so if Man City win the ucl and prem this year makes u the best team in the world not many clubs have ever managed a treble
@@daquaviousbingleton9763 yeah but easier to understand it this way. because 2 can also mean league + cup which isnt THAT spectacular
The treble is already an incredible feat. Imagine 6 trophies
I am Brazilian and I can say without a doubt that Lionel Messi is the absolute GOAT, the greatest player of all time... Unfortunately there are still controversies but after everything he has done and won in this sport there is no doubt that he is the greatest.
Unless one realizes the historic rivalry between Argentina and Brazil. This comment doesn't tell the whole story. But I know what you're saying!
You are not Brazilian. Here almost NO ONE consider Messi the GOAT.
@@RicardoMango Yes i'm Brazilian, I live in Rio de Janeiro and the only country where there is no unanimity is here because of the rivalry with Argentina (many Brazilians hate Argentines). No other player has a more complete and consolidated career than Messi, he has surpassed Pelé in everything.
@@RicardoMango come on, I'm argentinian and whenever possible root for Brasil. Wasn't here to watch the great Pelé at his peak, but I did see Ronaldinho and Neymar Jr. and if someone likes football they can't say in good conscience that those players are bad just because of where they were born.
@@RicardoMango Brazilians who understand football know Messi is the goat. I could see goat potential in him from the age of 19. He's like if R9 never got injured. Messi is 100% the best of all time.
He’s just won a World Cup a few months ago, 7 maybe 8 ballon d’ors 2 or 3 more than other player, definitely the goat of football
where are you getting 8 from? lol
@@Roi55 as messi has a good chance of winning the 2023 ballon d’or
@@dddffr4392 ah, idk but as messi is my fav player i would not complain
@@Roi55 unless haaland wins champions league then messi is getting an 8th balón d or
@@dddffr4392hahahahahahah are you for real ?
91 goals in that 2012 and teams scored about 80 as a whole, that’s how insane it was he was out scoring teams all together
Nobody is touching his 2012 year like that can’t be replicated fr
Before the last World Cup it wasn't very unanimous but after winning the World Cup, it pretty much is.
Ehh it’s true it’s unanimous now but from even way back in 2009 people were calling him the greatest and not just random people but other high prof footballers / older footballers. Players and managers have always been on the Messi side when it came to down to the ‘debates’ esp the Ronaldo vs Messi debate
It’s less unanimous and more so that the Ronaldo fanboys have no counter arguments left
its always been Messi just now you look foolish if you say anyone else
Lol what? Messi has always been the GOAT before the WC
its alwasys been, dont let the kids fool u, everynoe that was old enough to follow messi 2012 know hes the best easily
Ballon d’or is individual trophy it’s like mvp, best player in the world for that year, messi has most ever at 7
And it’s just an humble guy and a good family’father. He is a great exemple for the next generation. This season He is the best player in Europa with the most goals and assists combine at the age of 35, this is insane. Every season he creates and do somethings specials. He is the greatest for sure. Pele and Maradona are second and third.
Coincido totalmente!!! ( I agree)
He is the best and the goat and the art in sport
ook 💯
The Ballon Dór is equivalent to the MVP of the NBA, the best football player in the whole world in that year. The World Cup is the World Championship (country against country), the most important championship in the world, and it happens only once every 4 years. Messi just won the last one for Argentina back a few months ago, crowning his career and making him the undisputed GOAT.
91 Goals in 69 goals. Also so many assists for a player. He supassed top football teams alone 😂
The World cup is separate from club football, because there you play for your country instead. Usually in this video you see Messi play for FC Barcelona, which is a club in the Spanish league. But he was born in Argentina, so that's the country/team he plays for in the World Cup. It's kinda like if Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls, but also Team USA.
But unlike Basketball, winning the World Cup for your country is much more presigious in football, because it's so difficult, and the World Cup is only once every 4 years. And Messi finally won it this year.
91 goals in 69 games it was a calendar year January to December
That team was sooo smooth. The passing was sublime. 7 of the 11 starting players came thru the Barcelona academy, learning the same tactics and style of game. Some had been playing together since they were 11-13 years old. It’s like they could read each other’s minds. It was a joy to watch.
6 titles: La Liga (Spanish championship, the best in Spain), Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup), UEFA Champions League (the best in Europe), Spanish Super-Cup, UEFA Super Cup (is played against the winner of UEFA Europa League, second European club competition), FIFA Club World Cup (the best club team in the world). Basically during season a European football team it is involved in multiple national competitions and one continental. In order to participate in European competition you should have performed well in national championship in previous season.
Messi win Copa America 2021 and 2022 Finalissima and 2022 World Cup.. Champion 🏆🏆🏆 Messi the GOAT is era.
91 goals and 22 assists in 69 games.
React to Lionel Messi - WORLD CHAMPION - Movie by MagicalMessi. Last December Messi finally won the most prestigious prize in football, the World Cup, and was crowned the best player of the tournament at the age of 35, which is pretty insane. This tournament is only once every four years and is very difficult to win because there are a lot of great footballing nations. Messi had had four attempts previously (2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018), and by lifting the trophy in Qatar in December 2022 he solidified his GOAT status in many people's eyes.
91 goals in 69 games 22 assists
1 st Jan to 31st Dec 2012
Messi makes it look so easy
Yea he does
This is old too. The more recent one is great too but his Barca stint was unbelievable.
There is a lot of explain when it comes to the structure of the game. There are videos you can react to that will help. The most important are A. How confederations work B. Difference between international and leauge play. 3. Awards 4. Leauge and cup strucutre 4. Players and Teams
If you learn all those the rest will fall into place...
He is great in a different way now owing to his age but in his prime, his combination of agility, reactions, acceleration and ball control made him unstoppable at times.
BTW, this is an old video. The balon d'or is the world player of the year. He now has 7 of them. Also, he finally did win his international trophies with a Copa America and a World Cup.
Messi
🙌🏾
The most titles you can play a year is 6 (only england has 7) you got the national legue, the national cup, the national super cup (play the league champs vs the cup champs), the champions league/ europa legue (depends of how high you end up in the league), european super cup (Champions league champs vs europa league champs) and the clubs world cup. The ballon d'or is like de season mvp, messi is the player with most mvp of all time (7, and maybe 8 con october). The world cup is played countries vs countries and is played every 4 years. Messi is the second most goalscorer and the most asister of all time. Golden shoe is the trophie for the player with more goals in the season, messi is the guy with more of those having 6
91 goals in 69 matches in a year. Unbeatable record
ballon d'or is the mvp and messi has the most in history (7) and is on his way to the 8th with the world cup he just won in december 2022 !
91 goals in 69 appearances -+ 22 assists as well in a calendar year. Football has multiple tiers of competition and he's scored over 800 and counting at the moment all in the most elite level
The GOAT debate is between Pele, Maradonna, Messi and Ronaldo.
Pele played in the late 50's / 60's. Maradonna in the late 70's / 80's.
Ronaldo and Messi played simultaneously in the 00's right up till current day where both are reaching the end of their careers.
The debate was always close, they've won similar amounts of things individually and in their teams. Their stats are somewhat similar, especially in goal scoring.
But Messi was considered by most as the best. Ronaldo fans will point to the fact that Ronaldo has thrived in 3 top tier leagues, whereas Messi only thrived in 1. But this is realistically the only major differentiating factor in Ronaldos favour (alongside a much better heading ability). Everything else points to Messi.
Now that Messi has won the World Cup, the debate is pretty much over.
100% The GOAT
💯
The people real know soccer say is amazing
One GOAT one king Messi !!!!
13:50 That's because Messi saw where the goalie was heading, to the left, and shot on his counterfoot. So he was slower to react since it's much harder to shoot that way from that angle.
It was 91 goals in a season and let me tell you that is an astronomical number.. it probably will never happen again.
Definitely will NEVER happen again lol I looked and the TOP players only get about 30/40 a season 😂 Messi was just TOO good … definitely the goat 🐐 hands down
Messi won everything..club and country tournament..he was the successor of Diego Maradona..he definately passed Maradona's record..91 goals in a season bro with all the tournament in a season..La liga..Champions league..etc..Messi and ronaldo dominated football over a decade which was never done before in football history..they pushed each other to become the best in football history..u should also do a reaction on Jay Jay Okacha..truly an underrated legend
They lined up like that bc if you get fouled in the box it’s a penalty, kinda like a free throw. It’s a penalty assist bc he just softly passed it
This video is quite old now so I don't know if you'll see this but; the reason the goalkeeper looks "mesmerized" or bad is because messi shoots it in the exact place where it's very hard to dive. First of all, the ball is going much faster than it looks from above or behind compared to when it's going straight towards you but more importantly he places it equally hard as if he was smashing it into the air, but on the ground about 1.5 feet next to the goalkeeper. That means he doesn't have time to stretch out his leg to reach it and he doesn't have time to fall to the ground and catch it since he's not stretching his arms for the ball (it's faster to move your arms than let your chest fall on the ball) and his chest is the only part of the body that can block it (when laying down). It's his specialty for shooting.
To confirm the World Cup is a competition of national teams Eg England, Germany, Argentina, Brazil playing eachother in knockout football which happens every 4 years.
Each country has their own league full of club teams that play on average 30-40 games a season so Spain has a league of 20 Spanish teams eg Barcelona Madrid and would all play eachother twice home and away, UK would have 20 teams like chelsea and Manchester United.
There are also club competitions in between like champions league where different clubs from other countries play eachother like tonight Chelsea are playing Real Madrid in knockout tournament.
Hope that helps a little 🤣
he finally won the world cup in 2022
As far as "6 titles in a season" I believe it is referring to the amount of club competitions they won in a calender year. Usually it's like the domestic league title, the big champions leagues title (top teams across Europe) and a bunch of tournaments style cups ranging from old traditional ones that are valued more, to more recent, more commercial driven/more games for viewers to watch. So for them to win 6 basically they won everything they could win which is very rare
Messi and Ronaldo playing in the best country at football. Spain.
Messi is the best player ever. Comparing him to ronaldo is an insult to messi, messi has completed football.
he's now won more trophies for his country since 2019
Not many players have the balls to do a penalty assist because you are basically giving away a better chance to score by kicking it. As soon as the ball is touched all the players can step inside the box so it could've been a give away for the other team, but this is Messi and he knows when he can do it. The man is from another planet.
There's plenty of 15 year old kids who have played for the best teams in the world. It's crazy to imagine the pressures at that age.
that boy was speechless 😂😂 the debate about messi and ronaldo will always stand but most know that messi is the greatest of all time
A "Ballon d'Or" (french for golden Ball) is the yearly award for the best player in the world. A world cup is the biggest title in national football and maybe the greatest title of them all. A World Cup is only played every four years, so each time the stakes are very high. Most players that represent their countries on play about 2-4 world cup tournaments in their career.
Put it this way. A world class player would score 30-40 in a season or a year. He got 91. He actually outscored entire teams that year.
A team could get anywhere from 70 - 130. He was scoring in the range of teams as a single player
Imagine if Lebron in one season got more points than some teams in the season.
There are poachers, there are finishers, there are playmakers, there are dribblers, but when you combine all into one man, you get a monster. And that monster is Messi. That is why he is THE one and ONLY GOAT.
Note: playing in the world cup is playing with your country not your club teams. Each player can play for 2 teams, 1 football club like an nba team and 1 national team if they get called up for their nation. Its like the usa basketball team in the olympics. So messi played for Barcelona in spain at the club level for most of his career and he plays for argentina internationally.
ballon d’or s are like MVP’s for all of europe. World cup is an international tournament kinda of like olympics or fiba worldcup
It’s OFFICIAL, it’s UNANIMOUS , #Messi #GOAT 🐐🥇🏆⚽️
Yes, bro. He is The Best. Absolutely GOAT. 🇦🇷⭐⭐⭐
Most definitely the goat, have always said since 1st time saw him touch a ball
Actually soccer is on ESPN and NBC and CBS regularly now. Almost every day of the week there is a game. Nice reaction
THIS IS THE MAN,, THE LEGEND ,, THE G.O.A.T
Dont worry about people hating on you not knowing everything abt football. Its great to see more americans get into it of course you’re not gonna know everything when its not that big in america. Hopefully you’ll keep getting more into it its the best sport in the world!
Also if you’d like you should react to mohammed salah highlights he’s one of my favourite players since im a liverpool supporter
It's Messi & Maradona, then daylight. 😎🥃
Ballon D''Or is an individual award for the best player of the year and World Cup is the biggest Trophy in the world
i love these videos man keep it up fr
I love when someone gets into Football, Its the beautiful game. I love to see how every misconception you have is blown away with greatness. Keep getting into football man
To answer some questions :
- he scored 91 goals in the year 2012, so from January 1st to December 31st 2012
-in a world cup its not club teams that play its national teams, so to put it into perspective, if the world cup was a basketball tournament, lakers, warriors, nuggets etc would not be playing because they are club teams, instead nations like usa, Argentina, England etc would..
-the reason thet won 6 trophies in one season is because there are multiple tournaments throughout the year, again lets put it into perspective, imagine usa is Europe, each state is an individual country that makes the continent of usa, each state has its own league that only teams from that state play in, there's also a tournament where only the best of each league play (champions league ) depending on how good the league is you get more teams participating in that tournament
-balln d'ore (golden ball) is the trophy for best player of the year
Loving the honest reaction. I highly recommend 'Messi - a God amongst Men' as your next reaction video. Its sooo much to react to, none of the clips about Messi are the same!
Subscribed 👍
Also: now it changed (I think) but when he won most of his Balon Dor/mvp, it was the coaches and the team captains of every Country voting (including USMNT/ USA coach and captain) not bias commentators or analysts.
It is unanimous. He is the GOAT.
Finally bro... " That's why he is the goat"
I’m so happy Messi finally won the World Cup few months ago
A balloon D or is more of an individual trophy from his peers kinda like an MVP in the NBA, a World Cup is as it states a true World Cup, where the absolute best from all the continents play representing your country. Messi would give it all away for that one trophy.
He is the GOAT unanimous, he is the guy with more ballon d’or than anybody
yeah messi the goat. hes an alien, he does things no one else does
It’s less disputed now days but Ronaldo and messi have been the goats for ages but messi winning the World Cup was the nail in the coffin
best player you'll ever see!!
Honestly just you trynna learn the sport is amazing and you WILL have comments that answers all your questions. Of course there WILL be haters and ppl that will "correct" but keep it up the good work bro and you WILL see results 👍🏿.
C.Ronaldo is from Portugal my friend.
In Football we have two different instances: the clubs and the national.
The higher stage is the World Cup where the national teams plays, it occurs once in 4 years, and until 2022 only 32 national teams could dispute (those 32 national teams dispute qualifiers so they can reach the World Cup, each in their continent, against their continent rivals).
Btw a lot of the big games are on ESPN+ so that’s an easy way to catch some games if you already have that subscription, so football is way more accessible in the US than you may realize(as an American myself, ESPN+, and paramount + are the only services I use, and occasionally Hulu live for Premier league & USA games)
But yes football is not on national TV a lot, but really that’s just the US being stupid(like you said you’ll see college lacrosse or track more than football)
Messi is the Goat.
It was over some time ago.
Now he got the World Cup its not a question anymore.
I'd say go watch the rules off football that way you can really understand what's what...
recommend him a video about it
The goat 🐐
Gotta watch messi- world champion. Recently just won a World Cup and even though the goat debate was debatable before, he solidified his GOAT status with this World Cup
You need to check out when the football seasons in Europe are played to understand better. It is usually from August to May the following year. You need to watch "understanding European football/soccer for Americans in 4 easy steps.
just imagine muhammad ali and mike tyson started their career together, or lebron and jordan start their together, that is how messi and ronaldo is.
OOOO Shit thats a great way to put it bro thanks a lot
Ronaldo can be like the GOAT for you as a person. But if you know just at little bit about football you know that Messi is the best player to have ever touched the game. Winning the world cup cemented that to everyone. We will never see a player this good at what he does again.
Its like this:
Cristiano Ronaldo really talented player, worked harder than anyone else and became as close to a god as any human could
Lionel Messi is that god. He is the most talented player to ever play the game.
To answer your question at 17:19 - Top teams will usually compete in 3 or 4 competitions, sometimes more depending on how successful they are. At the top level in England, there is the Premier League (38 games for each team played over 10 months), FA Cup (cup/tournament), League Cup (Less prestigious cup/tournament) and if the team placed in the top 4 of the Premier League the previous season, they qualify for the UEFA Champions League. We also have the community shield which is a single match between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Love your football reactions
Basically they won all domestic and continental titles that year. Six titles in total.
There are multiple competitions that run during one season.... So the season refers to the national league in each country, they then have a league cup competition and a football association cup competition in each country during the season. The top teams from each league from last season will also be playing european competitions, like the champions league or the uefa cup.
So during the course of one season, there are opportunities to win multiple trophies and titles.
Ballon D’or is basically the oscars of football
bros face when the elclassico fight scenes came on 🤣🤣 its like his questioning "were his been his whole life" el classico is different level
There is a league per country about 30-40 matches. In this team they play some "minor" trophies national or international. Then the champions league decides the best european club per year.
Then there are national teams, that play continental coups and then de world cup
So he played for FCB, they play Spain's leagues with clubs within Spain. Then they also play games against other clubs in Europe, those are the international leagues for clubs. But since he is born Argentinean, he plays for the Argentina's national team, competing in America, against countries within America, and also plays in Fifa's Wolrd Cup, which means every national team from 5 continents qualify to represent their country to win the WC. Ronaldo played in Real Madrid, so they played against each other in Spains leagues and European leags, at clubs level. And Messi plays for Argentina, Ronaldo for Portugal, since he was born there.
The 6 titles that you were asking about. In the 2008-09 season, FC Barcelona won
La Liga - Spain's top football league (20 teams, 38 games over the course of about 10 months)
Copa del Rey - Spain's cup competition/tournament
Supercopa de España - A two legged football match between the winners of La Liga and the Copa del Rey
UEFA Champions League - A 32 team knockout tournament between last season's top teams from different European leagues.
UEFA Super Cup - A single match between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League
FIFA Club World Cup - A Tournament between the champions of each continent.
2:17 Just for people that think American-"football" is as big as Football, the most watched the Super bowl was 114.4 million viewers at peak, the El classico (Real Madrid vs Barcelona) which is just a league game was watched by an average of 500 million people in the last decade
but now he have everything what need a football players, top goals, champions league , 7 ballon d'or , Copa America, Finalissima, and at last he fulfilled his life dream "WORLD CUP" on 2022 and lot... and still continuing The GOAT....🥰😍
I will always stand by that Messi is the greatest PLAYER of all time and Ronaldo is the greatest STRIKER of all time
In a single season players play at club level. And then there is a break during that season where they represent their respective countries. But every four years the world cup comes around. That's the pinnacle of it all. You bring a world cup to your country you have done it for football. Also the balon d or is a individual award given to the best player of the year. Messi Has a record 7 soon to be 8 if he wins this year. But to many it still doesn't hold the weight as bringing the world cup home to your country. He has been criticized for not doing that for years. But in 2022 he did.
Ballon d'or is basically the award for being the best individual player of the year
Bro if you know the ball you know that messi is the one and only Goat.
Every big coachs and players says Messi is the most completed player and he is also so humble and a rolemodel
