    Well why singling BJP or Modi out on censorship when every state govt in India has censored their respective media. In my state Kerala, the communist govt has chased and tried to destroy a web portal called marunadan for the criticism. we can cite many such examples from each and every state. In India, we are not choosing the best, but the least worst. BJP govt is certainly least worst among the options that we have. If I get a slightly better alternative, I would vote for them.
    Also, I have seen media like wire, neeslaundry etc unfairly criticising Modi. I have seen some good balanced approach from The Print where they have also criticised govt.

This is despite the cheap oil from Russia that Modi was lucky to get thanks to the ongoing Ukraine conflict. If that luck was also not there the oil prices in India would have hit outer space. Yes, I agree with you. They are more worried that India has young population committed to excel in every field, whereas most of the western countries plagued with various problems including migration, depletion of population, economic decline, etc. They see Bharat as a promising country which will challenge their domination in the world both economically and militarily. India has been their soft target for long. This are not the same any more. Coming to the freedom, the western countries have adopted various laws which restrict freedom. You cannot make noise which disturb your neighbors, you cannot throw trash on public road, you cannot drive on wrong side etc. Why did they make such laws? Are they not curbing individual freedom? Indians do not say these are bad so every country frame laws that are beneficial to them. Who are these to question our affairs.

    interesting questions by bloomberg, although i have seen some other columnist raising them before. I agree with ruchir that india goes through cycles in which it swings between authority and democracy. during current phase people seem to have made an unspoken truce with pm modi to ignore the political rights and focus more on economic growth and infrastructure developement which he has proved he can deliver. moreover Prime minister modi hasn't shown any inclination toward suspending india's democracy, through all his action he took intentions were to convince or pursaude people rather dictate them. It also reflects in the amount of effort he takes in election campaineering despite being hugely popular. it is not a trait of an autocrat to say the least. because of this commitment the gavel of who gets to rule india still remains a whim of indian people.

      Have you sense about economy. In a developing economy, inflation is quite OK where the wage is rising. Unnecessary people cry about inflation, when you can see people spend as if there is no tomorrow. You go to any place, restaurants, movie theaters, airport, market etc. and you will find people and people everywhere spending. I live in the same India where 1.4 b Indians live.

    • @akrishnan1382
      @akrishnan1382 Před 3 dny

      Yes, Mr Modi will discuss everything that affects Indians. As regards job situation, India has so many jobs available for those who have acquired skills or are willing to work. As far as I can see, there are no jobless people in India. I find it very hard to get people to do certain work. If you need a job tell me what is your skills to do a job. I can certainly recommend where you can get it. Do not parrot the slogans of Congress, i.e. inflation, unemployment etc. India is developing at a fast pace and needs to many employees with right skills. If any one (either you or any of your contact) needs an employment get the right skills instead of wasting time writing in this column.

    Compromising democracy for development can be risky. While rapid development may occur in the short term, it can lead to inequality, oppression, and the erosion of civil liberties in the long run.
