Bless him...My Footballing Idol, since I first saw him play for Bayern, way back in 1964. I was on Bayern's books for a while and was in various Bayern Youth Teams and eventually broke through to the Senior Team. Sadly due to a bad injury my career was cut very short, but Franz Beckenbauer was picked out to be my Guid, Mentor, Advisor, Player to go to if I had any problems, he ALWAYS had time for me and he was THE Master at all of it. For me, he was the complete Player and he had everything, including being a brilliant Captain, Coach, Leader and over time, Friend. He had time for everyone and was well respected wherever he went and although we lost touch at times, for years on end, even to this day, he membered who I was whenever he saw me and always greeted me warmly and we had many a get together. The word "Legend" is so overused in this day and age, within the game and in truth, there are not many true Legends in the game, but he was a true Legend and he will be missed by those that knew him and by those that Support Bayern. Rest in Peace old friend....."Der Kaiser"....you will be missed. Heaven is getting itself quite the Football Team.

I wanted to see Beckenbauer and i wanted to be Beckenbauer all my life. i even had his training book with young Karl-Heinz Rummenigge back in 1970. Very sad day for me. I lost part of my childhood. Maybe he is lucky. He grew up in a Germany that wasn't part of a European Union as it is nowadays. People still enjoyed their sporting legends and Germany was still one of the best in the world in football. Times have changed.
