finally someone in a gti on youtube with a manual transmission
Never thought I'd drive an automatic but the dsg really is cutting edge
Caleb Christensen MK5s I thought had the first gen tiptronic?
@@kiroshi6414 Nope. DSG
you might be thinking of the MK5 Rabbit
Dsg is superior...everyone knows this.
It’s a beautiful thing
...anyone else smile when they heard the sound comparison? You have sold me on getting P-Flo Intake for my GTI, thanks dude. :)
Nice video. We've had great success with the sale of the P-Flo Intakes with no reported problems (EVER) in comparison to other kits we've sold in the past. The problems reported of those "other kits", however, have mainly been related to fitment and not sound or performance.
I know you asked a year ago, But the K04 version has an extra spout just above the turbo Inlet as on the K04 cars, like the Golf Edition 30, Audi S3 or Seat Leon Cupra, they run a relocated DV!
I got my Neuspeed intake from Awesome GTI in the UK
i purchased and put on the K&N cold air its ok, but the main reason to get a cold air for a gti is simply to get rid of that stupid engine cover/ air box hated that thing soo much.
Absolutely. Plus that stupid plastic thing keeps cracking. I'm trying to find a CAI just for that, also because I suspect I got some problem with intake flow due to the engine cover. I'm not going for anything too extreme, sound-wise.
Sounds awesome! Good video man!
This is very nicely done vid. Wish you could do for all the parts that were made for MKV. :D hahah
NICE!!! how difficult was installing the hose of the intake to the turbo inlet??? I do know that the smaller side of the hose goes to the turbo and from looking at it, its going to be a PITA to install. Any tips how you were able to put that in?
Just wondering if you can hear the noise from the air filter / turbo even when the foot is off the accelerator pedal? I have this problem, and is rather annoy. It sounds like the radio station that is out of tune.
nice video..and safe driving for the test thumbs up!!!
ive been really looking to buy this, did you have to get a tune after install?
what's the difference between this P-flow and the one for the k04? I was considering this intake but will it still work once I upgrade to the k04?
Cool vid :)
do you still have this car? nice video
By any chance do you what diameter is the intake piping ?
Next time shut the windows... And please let the engine get above 3000 rpm. Better sounds and cleaner shifts and more fun! :)
2:02 for sound comparrison
Thats in portland, OR!
@SQUARESPOKES ok at 1:42 rite above the center sticker there is a pipe what is it called i bought my gti used and that pipe is missing i have a side mount intercooler that is smaller than the original i want to connect the original back and i need that pipe whats it called i can post a video if youd like otherwise great vid
did you have to get a tune?
@kerflook Thats the stock DV
What all has been done to the car to date
You have a bov?
Dude, if you're gonna do a test drive, shut your windows so we don't just hear wind noise.
Better airflow performance, maybe, and better sound, maybe, but it will suck in lots of hot air once the engine bay heats up lowering power.
David Webb
Yeah you need the heat shield
This is right by my house. Portland, Oregon
You dont HAVE to but you should anyway just because its awesome
What kind of mirror is that?
Looks like a rally mirror. Gives a wider view. Amazon has some nice slip on ones cheap enough.
The drive portion was very disappointing, how about a launch instead of just Sunday driving.
Video on my page that shows the sound from outside the car (manual).
video title is Golf GTI mk5 got BOOST!!
Dude, next time you're going to do a test drive shut your windows please lol you just hear a lot of wind noise.
Ramair intake more louder
Its a pain in the ass. i did it with a set of pliers. Yes. Seriously. Thatb a screw driver.
Another pointless videos saying hey put this on your car and you'll be like wow look at the power. WRONG. People are lying to you. Spend it on a good tune and a straight pipe and then you'll see the difference. Dont put that p.o.s. on you car. Its only going to give you the same hp or 5-8 hp more. Nobody seems to relize this but an intake is only good if you have a turbo upgrade. So do yourself the favor spend what your going to for an intake and get it straight piped instead. Then save the money for a tune and upgrade from there. Dont believe everything you hear. Its only going to give you a more loud discharge noise. So if your only into your car sounding cool with no performance gain then by all mean do it. And also that filter is a p.o.s. that probably going to hydro lock your engine so if I was you upgrade it to the Valent powercore and do your engine a favor. A mechanic is going to see that when he looks under the hood and me I would be embarrassed. But all he gunna say in his head is thank god and laugh because he knows he can get more money from you. Like I said spend the 200 on a straight pipe, thats a good 10-15 hp and a tune that going to give you around 30-45 more hp for 500-600. After that if you want more just upgrade your fuel nozzles and you'll end up pushing 250 hp on your car and probably shit yourself.
Ethan Reber Thing is for a tune, like for APR they suggest getting an air intake before you get flashed.
Thats really funny because I have apr and they never said anything to me about recommending a air intake. So believe what you want and lose the power your car could have. I had an air intake with the apr tune and the car ran like shit until I removed the intake and put back the factory intake. So go ahead and get one so I can pass you no problem.
Ethan Reber Not arguing, so adding an intake reduces power? I thought it made the car sound more aggressive as well as improve fuel economy. Not spending 500 dollars on APR tune, not worth it for me. I might be thinking about the PCV valve, dont think it can handle all that boost or i read something about that somewhere.
Well this is my personal experience. An air intake will lower your hp and even cause 2-3 mpg less. Apr has given me an extra 30hp and even 5mpgs more and with it straight piped from the cat back my car is now getting 8mpg more with no difference in driving. Before with just stock I was getting 33.5, now I get 38.2 city and around 44.3hwy with no driving difference and those aren't ruff number. Those are average numbers. I honestly have a really heavy foot and speed around most of the time. When I had the intake with apr I was still getting 33.5mpg but once I put my factory intake back the mpgs started climbing. With the apr and intake I would have surge and it ran really ruff at any speed. To honest truth if you even think about tuning just go with malone thats what im doing next with the dsg tune and dpf delete. Straight piping from your hydrogen sulfide cat back only cost about 100 and makes no sound difference at all. Still sounds stock and helps the engine run alittle cooler and also helps the turbo run alittle better. Better acceleration. When I took a trip not to long ago with apr and the straight pipe I went 653 miles to where I needed to go and my car said I still had 78 miles left in the tank and that was driving at an average speed of around 80mph.
+Ethan Reber you should take your own advice and dont listen to everything you hear. Straight piping these engines literally does NOTHING! The only part of the exhaust that increases performance until you get into K04/BT territory is the downpipe. Upgrade to a 3in DP and you'll see gains of about 20hp or 10whp. Fuel nozzles? No once you go K04 you need to upgrade injectors but the only part for a K03 or F23T turbo if you went frankenturbo is the HPFP. Other intakes such as the Forge, VWR, and APR will give you a slight bump once you're tuned because they pull more air out through the original design from the front of the grill. A tune plus downpipe and intake will give you about 70-80hp over stock or about 50whp more. Please refrain from giving others advice when you have no idea what you are talking about.
