Hi Captain Magnar. Your videos have been really helpful for ATR pilots. I wonder if you can make a video about techniques on how to save fuel flying ATR.

Eng 2 while running with Prop Brake On is called Hotel Mode. But I wonder why ATR came up to that name "Hotel Mode"? Do you know the story behind why they called it Hotel Mode?

Hi Captain Magnar, I have been watching your videos for quite some time. I am a P2 on the Q400 and some of the systems are very familiar. I have been wondering for quite sometime, why are the Atrs's so underpowered compared to the Q400. We have PW150A which at our NTOP Setting is 4580 SHP and MTOP is 5071 SHP. In our airspace we have many ATRs and they are slow compared to the Q400. Is there a reason why ATR has opted for a slower engine? Perhaps fuel saving..

Hi Magnar, Great video. You mentioned that the max power setting is only used in an emergency as the engines can get very hot. Have you ever been in a situation where you have used Max power, 115%?

Your videos remind me of when I worked for American Eagle at Ohare. Flew on many flights on ATR 42s all over their system. Can tell you about interesting flights in thunder storm systems and in winter icing conditions…

Thanks Magnar, very interesting as always. When you retire will you carry on flying general aviation or will you just be taking it easy?

Hey Magnar! Thanks for all the great videos! I have learned so much from you!
Why does the cessna caravan only have one exhaust duct when all other turboprops have two sided exhausts?
    Thanks!

American Eagle changed many hot sections on ATR 42 engines during the summer seasons. They also didn’t like using Hotel mode because they didn’t want to change the prop brakes…

how much dust is a problem for an ATR...
looking at the sandstorms we are recently getting here, I am wondering at seeing the ATRs occasionally landing in the desert in what I would consider the middle of a dust storm.

Then why does screen heights have to vary with a wet runway?
