Good video…especially with ya standing up on the steps. I feel this is VERY important regards developing true muscle memory. If ya don’t, you’ll be slapping the right leg too high and yer bottom strand will not go under the right foot. You can overcome this, but it just takes longer and confuses yer muscle memory.
I’m sure there are a zillion different opinions out there, and that’s good. Jade IS one of the best, but what works for him, ie 3 Gold Buckles, May not work for everybody. It’s so important to experiment and find a technique that works for you personally. I’m sure that’s what Jade did. For me, and I’m not slamming anyone, but I’ve tried Jade’s and yours technique of delivering your trap with yer palm down. I could never get that to work for me. So please let me throw my technique in the pot.
I try to deliver a scoop, but if my timing is a little off, my delivery turns into a trap. I call it a SCRAP. Let me explain.
Jade’s way is to break his top strand on the hock first which forces his bottom strand out in front of, and around both feet creating a perfect trap. IOW, he leads slightly with his top strand. As I said, I’ve never been able to get that to work for me. Here’s what does work for me. I deliver like I’m shaking hands, hand vertical, and brush my bottom strand along the dirt about 12” to 18” to the right of the right foot. If I’m in time this results in a scoop. If my timing is a little off, brushing my bottom strand on the dirt makes it slower than my top strand, so my top strand breaks on the right hock first just like Jade’s, and I end up with a trap. Also, my bottom strand is ALWAYS on the dirt where it belongs. I don’t target the hock, I target that spot on the dirt 15” to the right of the right foot.
Whew…I’m done typing, forgive me for running on.

See I was taught to sweep all the way across the feet. And he’s saying let go a few inches before the rope hits the leg now I’m confused.

One of the greatest debates in teaching the delivery. I’m planning on doing a video just on that subject. Thanks for the input
