In this exclusive video, we'll dive deep into the intense battle between Andretti Cadillac and the F1 management. Andretti's response is nothing short of compelling. They assert that they've made remarkable progress in developing a competitive car and power unit, ready to take on the big guns of the sport. They're in tune with what Formula 1 fans crave, and they're not afraid to share their journey openly and transparently. 🏆👏
But the drama doesn't stop there. We'll dissect Formula 1's claim that Andretti may not fully grasp the complexity of F1 and could struggle to build two cars simultaneously. Is this a valid concern, or is Andretti more prepared than meets the eye? 🤨
Join us as we unravel the intricacies of this high-stakes rejection and the potential impact it could have on the future of American racing in Formula 1. This isn't just a rejection; it's a clash of ideals, a battle for recognition, and a quest for a new chapter in F1 history. Don't miss out on this inside scoop! 🔥

Why are the FIA and F1 fighting? czcams.com/video/P_PHhgOpOiw/video.html
The best possible outcome at this point from an American F1 fan: Andretti is allowed to race outside the Concorde Agreement. They don't get prize money, they don't get mentioned on the TV, or in any promotional matterial. Andretti hits the ground running and gets a podium or better a win. Not being part of the Concorde Agreement the Courts allow Andretti to live stream their in car feed on CZcams or Twitch. Andretti as a result do not need to attend the press conference so half the media and 3/4 of the attention after the podium is out in front of Anretti's garage where Andretti shows off the trouphy and gets to talk some smack about the FOM and Liberty Media. Viewer numbers come in and all those sweet US dollars in adverts Liberty has been greedily grubbing for end up in Andretti's pocket.
While Andretti does not get any constructors points they also don't have to follow FOM's marketing requirements. Does FOM have 2nd place getting 25 points? Is there an open middle seat at the press conference? If Andretti passes whomever on the last lap for the win how will the anouncers deal with that? Say Lewis gets his 8th championship but an Andretti driver actually would have earned more points does Lewis' 8th get a big old asterisk? How does FOM keep Wiki from saying the 'real winner was...'?
This probably won't happen and if Andretti does get on the grid like this they most likely won't be challenging but it would just be so epically sweet. So as long time American F1 fan do I boycott, drop my F1 TV sub, and not get a ticket for Austin until Andretti is allowed on the grid?
I just want to say this first. Adding an eleventh team will help support more F1 Engineers and racers. The cost cap limits the amount of staff that the teams can hire. A lot of the team doesn’t get paid comparatively well, but the jobs are great starting points for many careers. Another team directly supports those that dedicate their lives to racing, engineering, and F1.
Also, Idon’t necessarily think the argument that waiting until 2026 holds. You can learn a lot by competing ASAP vs spending an extra year only on design. How much difference is there between designing a race car for two years vs three years? I know, it’s a whole year, but with all the regulations in place I think you’d be much better off actually racing for a year. The key would be that they need to make sure they don’t spend too much time on the ‘25 car. I know Mercedes did well by giving up on their car before the regulations, but Andretti is a brand new team and the engine isn’t coming until much later. They’ve been planning to enter for a while.
@@colpul2103 That would destroy F1 worse than the Chase ruined Nascar in the eyes of their fans.
Considering the sport is accepting of Saudi king money, gambling companies and worse; they'd do something to sabotage Andretti if there is an once of success. No andretti car will leave inspection without there being a 0% chance in the top half.
@@colpul2103 ''... race outside the Concorde Agreement'' is a joke, it sets up two totally unworkable races happening at the same time.
@@zlm001 It's not the roll of F1 to support new F1 Engineers and racers, it's to keep things healthy for the currant teams(and their Engineers and racers).

He hasn’t even gotten to haas yet, that’s how much f1 news we’ve gotten in the last 3 days
He's the Lawdder
The fact that it wasn't FIA who rejected them but F1 themselves says two things..
1) F1 owners are really trying to be independent from FIA
2) They are really profit minded people. They don't care how the sport operates as long as they get revenue, they would continue to push artificiality.
This is bad... The drivers and teams really want to prove their worth on merit
Tbf, I saw this already when they announced the Qatar and Saudi GPs. Ever since Bernie left, they just fully went money mode. At least Bernie allowed teams to join since it brought in more sponsors to the sport, no matter how bad the teams were.
" They are really profit minded people." you know, this is exactly why Haas is still there. Even with their failures and extreme low effort into the sport - they still make a profit.
Maybe it has been gone for a long time and we're just noticing it - but the spirit of F1 is eroding like a gletsjer on a hot Summer day. It's like the ever appearing corruption within the FIFA, where money and politics are more important than what the sport should be about. If F1 management did a good job, we would never hear of them, until there's a rule change or reaction to incidents.
@@BruceKarrde The thing is politics have always been a part of F1 but now it feels far far more insidious and damaging to the sport.
Well the aftermath of the 2009 stuff is that the FIA lost all their heavyweight clout in decisions around F1.
@@0Synergy oh absolutely! I mean, when you set up governance through rule sets, you are already in touch with politics. So, yeah, I should've been more clear about the insidious and overt side of it.
I expect Andretti Cadillac to file a Lawsuit under European anti competition laws. As I understand it, the only reason FOM could have rejected Andretti after F.I.A. Approval was for safety reasons which they did not.
I think there will be something court related but they will keep going with their plans...cost-cap free.
@@LawVS correct. They will keep developing the car while they sue. There is no way GM will allow the door to get slammed in its face especially given the strictures of European anti-competition laws. The reasons posited in the FOM statement are absolute nonsense.
So any old team of 50 year old US football players from Europe can suddenly demand that they're now a part of the NFL? Otherwise it's anti competitive? They're free to start up their own league of racing in competition to f1, So I'm sure liberty/FOM already have lawyers who's adviced them on this subject before they did anything.. and technically they can race? Just not come to an agreement and thus not be shown on TV, any prize money and so on?
I don't know much about the law here but this is unfortunate. I wasn't that familiar witrh Cadillac either but they performed extremely well at the 24 hrs of Daytona last weekend. They led for quite a while but unfortunately lost, but by less than a second.
@@ysteinlarsen9361 yup, but Andretti want to piggyback o the F1 brand in order to boost their own brand. That's why they won't start their own league in competition to F1. Add in that GM is suffering from their own problems right now, and Andretti is nothing more than a problem team out for themselves.
As an American and general F1 fan I can tell you that I have no interest in Haas but if Andretti Cadillac has a team I'll be buying my first F1 merch.

I just feel for Mario as the guy raced during arguably the most dangerous era of motorsport, an F1 champion and formula one loves to promote his name at all the races even letting him drive modern F1 cars but yet get told “ your name wouldn’t bring anything to the sport”.
Outside of America the name Andretti is not commonly associated with F1 & when it is, Mario is considered Italian. Admittedly, Mario's only F1 championship was in a car so far ahead of the competition it was groundbreaking. Michael tried to match his Dad but stormed off & vowed never to return to F1
@@rodneymyers4375Mario considers himself an American first. How the rest of the world views him is irrelevant. They want to build the sport in America. But they are refusing one of the greatest open wheel manufacturers in America. They are loved here. Y’all may not care across the pond. But we care here. What Americans are being told is that F1 just cares about our money. They are showing open distain towards the very fans that they are trying to bring to the sport. Not only that but telling current and long time American F1 fans that they don’t care whether we’re happy. Europe is scared to lose to American machinery. HAAS isn’t a threat, more of a sideshow and we all know that. If a team that actually wants to compete is sidelined for no reason how is that fair?
Andretti is not used in F1 race weekends outside US…. 😂 outside US he is no name for the viewers…
@@FlowStateEnergyspoken like a true American…. Thinking you are entitled to HAVE stuff from F1 🤢 If you don’t like F1 then simply don’t watch. I like all kinds of racing, I watch F1, F2, F3, WEC, Indycar, Imsa … and simply enjoy it…not feeling entitled to anything from those series “cos I watch/pay to watch it”… get off your entitled high horse
Considering he is a champion of F1 and has a hugely impressive motorsport record, this would be a huge boost in terms of F1 heritage.
Let us be honest here. As an American myself, I can tell you that we may forgive, but we will never forget. F1 just disparaged the greatest name in American racing history, while at the same time they are trying to get more American races, more American fans and most importantly more American money. Do not be surprised if once the contracts they have in place to race on American soil are over, they are extremely hard pressed to get them renewed. I predict that those American politicians in those cities that approved F1 going to those locations will be voted out of office by then and very likely renew contracts will be either flat refused or will cost F1 a boatload more. We will make sure F1 remembers what they just said to one of our own and then shove those words right back down their throats. You think you are going to come over here, and not even give an American team a slice of the pie. Oh you best think again F1.
Good! I hope American fans are aware of the support from European, hell, from _global_ fans. _We_ want Andretti!
Amen
@@y_fam_goeglyd Heck, even here from the continent itselfz where we usually don't like the USA, we really want Andretti. Simply because of how much of a name is in motorsport
Murica stinks anyway. Most fans won't care.
Tbh, as a racing fan who wants F1 out of the US except for maybe cota, I don't think liberty cares about racing fans, wether they're European or US, they want that new crowd who's never followed racing, but watch because of the show and celebrities, so the target audience might not even know who Andretti is in the first place
F1 is becoming less a sport and more a show hence the closed doors. Honestly this is making it look less like the pinnacle it once was and more the WWE of motorsport.
You're talking about it becoming more of a show and yet the drama started with Andretti's reply. Y'all don't care if it's a show as long as it's YOUR show. If you don't want drama don't let Andretii in. You'll just see more of this nonsense in the coming years.
The gt wc and the wec are the real pinnacles
Having some entertainment is fine, but the sport should come first.
Exactly there is already too much Americanization in F1 in my opinion. Granted I am an old school F1 follower (born 1962, following since 1970) but F1 should be about the sport on the racetrack not all overpriced glitzy nonsense.
Hell I don’t even consider it the Pinnacle anymore… The IMSA and international equivalent series are every bit as fast and as technically interesting. When F1 started outlawing everything and putting them in such a tight box they took away any freedom to experiment with new concepts and new technology. It’s no longer a testing /breeding ground for new automatics tech to be trickled down to consumer cars. It’s just a show.
For some reason it’s personal. F1 went to GM and said “we want you in F1, but you need to come in with someone else, not Andretti.” GM said screw you.
Because GM is working with Andretti in more than just making engines.
Wrong, GM PULLED OUT OF THE DEAL WITH ANDRETTI 😂 they don’t want to supply any engine until 2028
@@LawVS Wrong, GM PULLED OUT OF THE DEAL WITH ANDRETTI 😂 they don’t want to supply any engine until 2028
You know what happens when you rush an engine it fails.
Also GM is working in more than just a PU.
Once again if you actually knew more about f1 you would know this. Lol
Andretti should show up with the F1 car to the Indy Grand Prix on the roadcourse and do some laps.
I bet we will see a "shakedown".
They could even book a media day at COTA before F1 arrives there for the GP. If they do well, more people online would likely talk about Andretti launching a prototype F1 car than the actual F1 Grand Prix that weekend.
@@freakysquirrel7218 F1 won't take kindly to that. The more Andretti tries to manipulate the audience the more F1 will reject him. They're not interested in fighting the antics of an entitled American, and they're less interested in accepting those antics into their field.
@@freakysquirrel7218 This is the way. It has to be at a circuit that a Grand Prix will take place at, so you can compare apples to apples. Hire Vettel as their test driver and compare his lap times in the Andretti car at COTA to USGP qualifying lap times. You can then see where he might have started on the grid.
😂 they would be a shambles…that would be hilarious..
Got to love how they trotted out the Hamilton/Ferrari news immediately after as a distraction.
This could've waited a day or two more.
If a customer engine deal would not be good enough, how many cars would be left on the grid ?
Exactly. Renault probably are a little nettled about that
Andretti had no engine anymore…..GM pulled out of the deal. They don’t want to supply any engine until 2028. And Andretti did have a previous deal with Renault but Andretti let that deal expire…. So no Renault either

@@RedlingsteinGM / Cadillac isn’t allowed to supply power units prior to the new power unit regulations in 2026, and has said 2028 would be the earliest they could supply Andretti due to the late start. Thank you for keeping this really important news relevant.
So much news and the season hasn't started yet!
Andretti, one of the biggest names in Motorsports, does supposedly not provide value to F1. Wow, the sheer hubris with these people. I sincerely hope this will come back to kick them in the backside. If they ever manage to join F1, I will definitely make sure to buy all the Andretti merch I can get my hands on.
This drama is making tons of fans for the team before they even start racing. At this rate they will have the popularity of RB/Merc/Ferrari and they could finish 11th and still keep that popularity.
It's because once Andretti is in he'll try to make it all about himself. F1 doesn't want to deal with any nonsense that Andretti will bring to F1. You claim he'll bring value, but that's just as a brand name. In the operations of his team and his manipulation of the F1 audience he will damage what the F1 is trying to do. They've clearly weighed his personality and other detractors against any potential value he'd bring and found it lacking.
The fact that Andretti used emotional anchoring, a manipulation tactic, in their response to F1 and has caused so many people like you to speak out against F1 is a prime example of why they don't want Andretti.
Andretti, a name mostly known in America. Those outside America who remember him only know Mario as Italian, not American. But I agree Mario is almost as iconic as the names, Senna, Fangio, Moss, Brabham, Surtees, Ascari, Farina, Stewart
And they insist any new team be fast enough to take podiums from Red Bull. What?
@@LawVS Yeah we have seen that since AlphaTauri and Brawn which were name changes rather than new teams.
I had an F1tv pro subscription for the past two seasons and spent well over $1000 in merchandise. Until Andretti is in, F1 won’t get a penny from me
They probably don't care. A small hit to profits compared to the politicking and other nonsense Andretti will bring to the F1 if they're accepted makes a lot of sense.
Peacock has all the IndyCar races. Cheaper than F1TV and it was more fun to watch imo.

@@epmcgee ah yes, because andretti's clear response and the giant paper F1 put out makes andretti the one that is "politicking and nonsense"...
It's not like F1 is notorious as being filled with bloodthirsty politicians owning everything... Y'know, like, right now, 2009, the tyre war, etc. etc. etc.
What I think is funny is that, if the FOM were like this in 2016, Haas would have no way to join the F1 grid.
I am pretty convinced that having _at least_ one new team will go a long way towards improving the sport right now (especially when it comes to bringing in new talent), so I'm interested to see how this whole ordeal will evolve over time and I'll still keep hope for Andretti joining the grid within a few years.
It's like what Brundle said and Haas are OK since they're IN the club already.
If only that 2010/11 cost cap of 40M had gone into effect. You shouldn't need the HAAS route to join imo. But F1 seems content to INCREASE barriers of entry seeing as how they want to up the entry fee even more!

I saw a bunch of Americans online say that if Andretti got accepted they'd 100% watch F1 cause thats actual proper representation and that the tracks in America cause more bad than good
And the more American fans there are there more the American tracks get used. 😂😂 they're complaining about the tracks then saying they'd support F1 not realizing they'd have to deal with the very tracks they're complaining about.
The problem is Andretti is brand focused. They don't care about F1, just the potential customer base they could get from F1. If Andretti fails they'll leave F1 and that would be more damaging than rejecting them.
And I bet that Palou or O'Ward would be a driver.
So... as someone who lives in America, I would say that the biggest thing (at least for me) that keeps me from taking F1 seriously, is things EXACTLY like this. Decisions influenced by money, rather than facts. It makes the sport management look corrupt. All of the "reasons" Andretti isn't being allowed in are absolute BS. The only reason they're not on the grid now is the new agreement, and jacking up the costs of getting into F1.
F1 is the "UFC" of the fighting world. They try to portray themselves as the ultimate in motorsports but come across as blatantly biased year after year (and no, I'm not just referring to this situation).
And then in recent years they have a spat with their regulator, the FIA, when one or the other fumbles something.
I’m hoping that the golden money tree that is the burgeoning US fanbase takes a dim view of this and backs off F1 until Andretti gets FULL approval to be on the grid. You can’t have your cake and eat it, the Americans deserve a TRUE American team like we Brits enjoy, as do the Austrians, the Germans, the French and of course the Italians.
Gene Haas can go suck a lemon but that would cost that deadweight too much
Has to be the right KIND of money.
I already bought my tickets to 3 Indy car races instead of going to the One race in Texas. I am also a part of a American open-wheel racing group and none of them are buying F1 tickets either. They are in for a shock this year when they come to America they better hope all the British/ euro fans want to fly to America and fill up the stands.

Las Vegas of course will still be a big race because so many people fly here from out of the country the majority of the people at the Las Vegas race weren't even American. It was such a pathetic move by F1. It was pure anti American bs or they are just downright afraid of competition. Is no name steaks f1 or rebranded bulls racing going to be challenging for podiums this year? The fom statement was a slap In the face not just for Andretti or any other potential team wanting to join f1. Andretti brings nothing? They are bringing GM. Something f1 has been trying to do for years. They bring the Andretti fan base. Lot of their Indy car fans will follow. Not to mention having a legitimate American team will be overwhelmingly beneficial for f1.
That's the part of this which I found really odd.
They're bringing in a problematic manufacturer and that will benefit F1? xD F1 would deal with GM if they committed to a team that isn't as emotionally divisive as Andretti, a team that actually cares about the championship and the sport. But pairing them with Andretti that will gain more from joining the F1 than F1 will gain from admitting Andretti is a no go. Why commit to GM with Andretti when it's more than likely that their lack of competitiveness will drive them to leave F1 and take GM with them. That is far more damaging to F1 as a sport than rejecting them is.
If F1 goal is to get more larger in the US market, why the hell did FOM reject Andretti? Do they have any idea how many more ACTUAL US racing fans this will bring to F1?!? Which will lead to an increase in revenue. 20 seats is very small compared to the talent available for this sport. 2 more seats would be great for everyone involved
and 1 more teams means more sponsors a whole but the teams are so short sighted...
Because as a brand Andretti stands to make into the billions after becoming a recognized F1 team. They could fail out in three years and leave F1 but still gain thier brand value, while their leaving takes all the American fans again and keeps GM from ever entering F1 as they'd only be providing engines to Andretti in 2028. The risk is entirely on F1 and rejecting them now to force them to wait for 2028 is less damaging than having them fail out.
This just seems really strange
Edit: wouldn't it be funny if fans at each race turned up with banners saying things like "We want Andretti!"?
Given how much money Liberty is making out of F1, they could _easily_ make up the prize fund difference. The crazy thing is they'd make that money back from new American fans. Hell, from new fans everywhere!
I don't know why they're bothering with more than one US GP, because nobody is going to turn up to watches before long.
If they don't make a profit then they'll leave. Considering the fan reaction to Andretti's statement F1 made the right decision to leave Andretti out. There's no point in having a team that is clearly just here for their own gain and doesn't care about the sport. I’m an American who first began following Formula 1 when Nike Lauda was driving a March. These recent developments have me nearly to the point of ending my interest in the sport. F1, and in particular Wolff, are terrified that a legitimate American team could perhaps outperform some of their over bloated operations. That’s all that’s going on here…fear of ‘the other’.
And Andretti releasing a divisive and emotionally anchoring statement to get people like you upset and outspoken about the F1s decision isn't bad? If that's enough to lose your interest then you're as much of a fan that wants to see the F1 expand as Andretti is. Why care about a team that will attempt to manipulate the F1 audience into overturning the F1s decision? Y'all don't run F1, and having a team like them in F1 will turn it into a politicking nightmare.
And it really isn't that much of a loss to F1. Any fans they lose here they can pick up somewhere else. At least the integrity of the field is maintained.
They basically told them that if you can't beat Red Bull then you're not coming in
Thanks for the video man! I really appreciate you taking about it in the current situation.
All the content is awesome! It gives us a different perspective of certain events. Please keep it up 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Agree on all points! Prior to this "decision" I was cautiously optimistic of a possible Silver Age of F1 with close competition (seriously, the whole 2023 qualifying grid would fit between the gap between P1 and P2 in the "good old days"), more engine suppliers than I've seen in my life (have there been more than 6 since the late 70's? I honesly can't think of more than 4 or 5 in a season), and easy access for new fans.
I've said before, but this rejection shows almost Eccestonian levels of short-sightedness in his refusal to embrace modern media. The teams are potentially missing a chance to make a bigger pie in order to maintain the size of their current slice...
Andretti is in this for his brand. He doesn't care about F1. So if it fails to improve his brand, regardless of how many points the team would have, their decision would be to leave. If they can't be competitive in F1, their brand wouldn't see as much of an uplift, tying back to them leaving F1. What value does a team that only cares about their own brand and not the sport bring to the championship when its foreseeable that if they fail to make an impact in the two years that they are not competitive they will simply leave.

Andretti stands to gain so much from F1 while being an under competitive car that brings no value to F1 as a whole. That's compelling. If you want Andretti in let them wait until 2028 when GM can provide the ma motor.
You are one of the first people on this platform to directly address the bias that exists amongst F1 bosses towards Andretti and American teams/Manufacturers.
Thank you.
You're welcome but it's been in plain sight the last 12 months.
Let's be honest a brand new team competing for podiums is an issue, then half the grid is disqualified. As an American fan, I can also tell you GM is not a strong brand and have been struggling with bankruptcy, union strikes, and government bail outs, ultimately leading to a substantial increase in the MSRP of thier products. Ford has struggled as well but are seen as more stable vs. GM. I wouldn't count on GM entering F1.
The more information that comes out the more it seems like F1 have made the right decision. Business > Fairweather fans.
Indeed. They basically want any new team to stop Red Bull without changing rules.
If you needed an excuse to stop watching F1 and switch to other motorsport leagues that actually encourage competition, this is it.
This whole affair is just a shame
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
I’m in the states. I only know 4 people who watch formula one. There is a huge market to get, but the o e they have already is shutting off. Americans know a rigged game, we rigged the Americas cup for 100 years, but we like to have a chance.
I saw a post on Jalopnik which was quite telling.
"Americans know a rigged game, we rigged the Americas cup for 100 years," sounds like another reason to not support an American team in F1. Less so Andretti who is using emotional anchoring to manipulate the F1 fans (and random Americans who don't even watch F1) into bullying the F1 to overturn their decision. F1 knows what kind of team Andretti will be and they don't care for the politicking they'll bring.
Brilliant breakdown of this whole embarrassing situation. I have been so put out with this farcical “rejection” of Andretti. I read through, point by point, and you summed up quite well the embarrassing excuses that F1/FOM expected everyone to just accept and believe. Keep up the pressure. It is laughable how F1 wants to paint FIA as in disarray, than they release their clown show of excuses.
It's not farcical. Andretti wants to use the F1 as a platform for his brand. Even went to the extent of saying that if they don't start getting podiums immediately it will be pointless. F1 doesn't care for a manipulative team boss who is clearly just there to use the F1. I don't want Andretti in because of their attitude in response to all this. It's emotional anchoring to get people like you upset at the F1. All they pose is a threat to the F1 as a divisive and outspoken team that will divide the F1 audience if they have any time there. The financial loss the F1 will experience now would likely be far less than if a dissident F1 team on the grid that has the fan vote will cause in a few years.
Besides if Andretti does get in and doesn't win podiums immediately it sound like they'll give up, since it's pointless. Why have a team that has no desire to compete unless they benefit from it immediately in the F1, especially if they fail their goals and simply leave after a few seasons. Andretti doesn't care about F1, just his brand. If Andretti is so amazing why don't they start their own racing league? Because F1 is the biggest motorsport and starting his own league won't have as much of a beneficial impact to his company as joining the F1 will.
I doubt Lewis would walk during the season. He would want to end the relationship on a good note.
@@epmcgee You are likely relatively new to F1 as you are just parroting ridiculous FOM talking points. Andretti using F1 to increase his profile? So he can what, get in to F1? Andretti checked every box and yet isn’t it interesting that they keep moving the goal? F1/FOM are just placing a bet that the US market will grow little to none and coming up with excuses galore because they can see how popular Andretti will be. Those familiar with F1 can see this as typical, petty, F1 arrogance. This is why everyone is calling out FOM elites. I was involved with F1, in a peripheral position, many years ago. If you don’t know what really happens behind the scenes, you end up believing and regurgitating their petulant rhetoric.
This is a perfect Drive to survive script in the making, Miami GP big team principal meeting, COTA GP, FOM allow Andretti entry for 2025, Las Vegas GP, Andretti interview David vs Goliath quotes and general good vibes.
Michael Andretti photobombs Netflix in the paddock.
Bro I am so glad I found your channel again. Was an early sub and then you just vanished and I couldn’t find anything.
The "an 11th team wouldn't add anything to the sport" argument they keep using is so BS.
Because Redbull having 2 teams or whatever Haas is doing adds sooOOOOOo much.
I also don't understand how they are afraid Andretti would take away from the teams that are already struggling, but Andretti also has to challenge for podiums right out of the gates?
I just don't see any way this isn't just hollow gate keeping.
Haas partnering with a successful team after their absolutely dismal performance is a clear demonstration that they are attempting to make the field more competitive. That does a lot for F1. Bringing in an American team that is willing to emotionally manipulate fans in order to try overturn the F1 decision and have their way doesn't help the F1. Dividing the audience against F1 and damaging the sport while doing it shows Andretti doesn't care about F1, just about their potential brand success in F1. So if they fail they'll leave. What good does that do F1? More damage than outright rejecting them does.
Yet you get Horner praising both brands
@@epmcgee I don't know where this emotional manipulation is happening because every video and comment criticizing FOM about this are pointing out the obvious nonsense in the document. We can see it with our own eyes, we don't need Andretti to say anything.
@@epmcgeewell said
Well, I guess Verstappen would need to either go to Mercedes or retire just to cover up Andretti news.
Well Lewis moving to Ferrari has kind done that.

Really true indeed. F1 thinks we fans are dumb.
It's also very suspicious the timing of Hamilton's Ferrari signing, like it was orchestrated for us to forget about Andretti. I am confident that Andretti can turn around FOM's rejection.
If you're siding with Andretti after their emotionally manipulative statement that was pointedly designed to make people like you upset with the F1 then you are.
I think it was a coincidence in terms of initial stuff... Bit this couldn't have waited until next week?

Thank you Law for keeping a logical discourse on the issues with Andretti.
I was planning on going to a race this year, but I'm not going or even watch anymore. F1 isn't interested in having he best. If they were they would let Andretti in.
Stick with the ladder though.
Thank you for keeping this topic on top. The Lewis announcement was a little too timely

Good points raised there Law, but I don't want Andretti in F1 just to appease American fans who are even more fickle than most. Generalisation, so definitely doesn't apply to all but they have the attention span of a gnat. You can talk about big auto makers but when the largest auto maker in the world only lasts 7 years (I'm looking at you Toyota) and even BMW only managed 19 wins in 23 years as a engine supplier (actually more F1 wins than Mario Andretti).
i am american and i have watched all 23 races last season, every single race since 2019 and i haven't watched a single episode of DTS in my life. It just pains me to see Haas pull up to a race and finish P15 and P18 every week, Andretti should at the very least buy Haas
shut the hell up
I'll say it again, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes scared of an upstart when they themselves were once upstarts.
The statement said that the team had to be ready to get podiums at once or else it's pointless.
@@LawVS Well they can still score points outside of the top 3 positions. Not getting podiums doesn't mean they are 'pointless' :D
@LawVS which is, of course, completely unrealistic as you said. All that being said, when they do eventually get on to the grid, I believe they will shake things up in a huge way.
@@LawVS which further demonstrates that Andretti is in this for profit, but because of their statement people are praising Andretti and demonizing the Formula 1 for the EXACT SAME thing.
What exactly do they have to be scared of? A team that has never designed any car, never built any car, never manufactured any bespoke parts, not even a steering wheel, does not have an engine supplier yet, does not even have enough experienced crew on the ground to service pit stops, never participated in any type of constructor series. So apart from a name & American, what exactly are they scared of?
We all need to wear Andretti merch to all US GPs
THis month of the year is where I am excited.. Drama updates every day..Always makes my day
It's truly approaching the new season.
American money wants a true American team. This will be a lot more drama before everything is done.. teams at least want to wait until the entry fee is 600k and the new rules are in effect for at least a year.
They are forgetting that not including a team as soon as the new rules start, the rejected team are free to develope whatever they want at whatever budget, with 24/7 windtunnel if they want. And can you imagine GM with an axe to grind?
Remember Ford vs Ferrari? A grudge and deep pockets always go a long way.
Haas doesn't want to sell to andretti, but if GM decides to use the 600m$ they can save by buying a team now and add some for the teams worth... Haas may bd convinced, specially if his name stays on the car somewhere
Andretti's got the contacts and the sponsors to back them up as well as the connections.
Americans act entitled 🤮🤢
GM pulled out of the deal, they don’t want to supply any engine until 2028. And NONE OF THE TEAMS ARE FOR SALES
@@Redlingstein none are for sale? Haha alpha tauri was/is for sale. It was even offered for 900m$, they thought it was too expensive.. but subtract the 600 million and all the assets from that number and it isn't too expensive anymore, and now comes with the added bonus of getting back at the other teams.
TEN teams would have to accept a 10% pay cut, to allow for the eleventh team. It was NEVER going to happen.
But the resulting hype around the team coming in might bump up revenue and profits so much that it makes up the difference.
First time viewer here. I like it! You've said in this video what I've been saying (but you've said a lot more!) throughout the development of the Andretti Global vs F1 saga. Here's another angle, which may or may not be relevant, but I think is: European aristocracy does not want to be humiliated a third time by American forces coming over and winning another war that threatened to sink their precious lifestyles, but they need them to, anyway. Just flip all of F1's arguments on their heads and you will see the real fears that F1 harbors against the Andrettis.
You just got a new subscriber.
Andretti could probably use the FIA's document in a defamation case.
Maybe but for now they will probably carry on as per
What defamation case the fact is that public worldwide polling finds that haas has about 100 times
The brand recognition as Andretti has.
For a defamation case you need to show that there’s damage but when statements are factual there not defamation.
still don't understad why F1-Liberty has the right to decide the teams? It is like a parte of rules
They don't, they have the commercial part of its thus TV rights, prize money etc, so I don't think they can refuse them to race, but they won't be given any TV time, won't make any prize money and so on without making a deal with liberty
Because it's their business. Andretti won't gain anything if F1 doesn't accept them and F1 stands to lose whether they reject him or accept an uncompetitive team into F1
They took power from the FIA after the 2009 furore.

Hey mosako hope your well and happy
Yeah I'm good.
I hope Andretti keeps developing outside the cost cap and wind tunnel restrictions until they can say "hey, we are actually faster after testing on this track. We are competitive."
All those isolation from FOM allows Andretti to quietly progress and surprise many folks.
I've seen a few comments/videos wondering whether Formula 1 might be in danger of breeching EU competition laws. I don't know if there is anything in it but they might also have to run the gauntlet of US anti cartel laws. i suspect Andretti are looking at it.
This is such a PR disaster it probably has cost them plenty of cash.
I'm not qualified to speculate on that but I'm sure Andretti are on this.
Being an American, my experience is that Americans love to root for someone they can connect with, and with an international sport like F1, that usually means an American driver or team. Thats not to say we wont root for a non-American... wrong or right... it is what it is. If you really want to grow F1 in the States, there's no better way to do this than to put a proper American team with an American driver in F1. The reality is, allowing an American racing team, like Andretti, into F1 would go a long way towards the growth of this sport in the USA, and that means more $$$ for everyone. I've been following this story for a while and I can't help but feel this is a personal grudge against Andretti and his organization.
Especially with a team that has plenty of silverware already.
I was under the impression that GM could not supply an engine till 2028 even if they wanted to due to the fact they were not a part of the original rule talks. That 2028 was the soonest they were allowed to join.
That might be true but for them to wait for 2028 even from a logistical and planning POV it's a sound decision.
@LawVS GM had an added value. Andretti doesn't. They fact they wanted to compete without GM for the first two or three years means that the bid was for a team without GM. Also, AFAIK GM never officially registered themselves as am engine supplier. So F1 didn't even know for certain that GM would do it.
@@djoetma the other aspect is if Andretti fails in F1 and leaves they'll take GM, too. GM apparently doesn't want to work with other F1 teams. All in all its a loss for F1 to accept Andretti
Excuses are like sphincter valves everyone has one.
They've got loads of them here.
Even the Gettysburg Address was only 272 words. The FOM were so over the top rude in their rejection. As one of your American fans, I'm not surprised by the rejection itself, but the content of the documents made FOM look ridiculous considering what we know about Andretti and their work so far, for F1 and other motorsports. Ugh
Sometimes the greatest speeches can be short and sweet. This was long, dry and convoluted.
if Liberty Media is a publicly traded company, and you can prove within reasonable doubt that Andretti would financially contribute to F1, then they can actually sue Steffano Domenically for going against the best interest of the shareholders. In US publicly traded companies are legally obligates to to whatever it takes to keep the share prices and company profits trending upwards.
Its share price dropped 2% since Thursday, after the Andretti rejection.
ART OF WAR ....that is gold
It's kinda relevant in regards to competition.
I noticed you forgot to mention Brawn GP's success....
You can't really count that as Honda had been ploughing MILLIONS at the 2009 car prior. We're talking about a brand new team here.

Waiting for Andretti to take their car and break some track records to show their competitiveness
It wouldn't surprise me if they do that
What a disgrace to disrespect GM and the Andretti family.
Thank you for a brilliant post. I have never been a great supporter of the Fia until now but with their stand against Formula One, whoever they are ( FOM ?? ) I now support them fully. It is indeed unfortunate that F1 now seems to be an American Company with no interest in Sport, let alone Motor Sport and have all the faults of America thinking that they are best and biggest in everything ( except perhaps in making a Balls Up of most things ) plus only an interest in making money. If FOM or the urrent lot do not own F1 surely the actual owners could step in. I suspect, however, the actual owners of the various entities involved is very convoluted. Can you perhaps give your followers some clarification on this. .
Thanks for the great work, keep it up.
I think this is all part of their feud. Andretti are a pawn in their battle.
What i got from the FOM statement is that they want GM but they don't want Andretti. If this partnership somehow lasts until 2028 and Andretti is the only way they get GM then might give them a real consideration. It's such a joke the standard they are trying to hold Andrettit to whilst pretending Haas is a perfectly fine and capable team.
They basically wanted Andretti to come in and immediately win.
The Andretti name is synonymous with racing in America. Even country songs mention his name. Mario is a former F1 champion , former Indianapolis 500 champion (even Alonso hasn't done that yet, though he tried), Daytona 500 champion, 12 hours of Sebring champion..... that is a very SMALL list of his accomplishments. FOM have really poked the bear here and I don't think Michael and the Andretti organization are going to stand down. I can't help but think this is a manipulation tactic to get GM in as an engine supplier and send the rest packing. I think that meeting was simply an appointment for a shakedown of the Andretti group. I know as an American I am a bit biased, but I'm telling you Americans would support an AMERICAN Andretti team through the development to get competitive and they've shown in all their other endeavors they don't just show up (I'm looking at you HAAS) to advertise their brand. If nothing else the American fan base is loyal to their favorite teams to a laughable degree (I'm a Baltimore Oriole baseball fan we haven't won the World Series since 1983.... yet, I'm still a fan....LOL)
BTW Law thanks for keeping this on people's minds.... I really do think Andretti will add to F1.
And F1 is synonymous with racing globally. His reputation is not enough to let him into F1, especially when he'd be running a Renault engine on a basic chassis similar to Haas. While potentially taking prize money from other teams. You talk about how American fans are loyal to their favourite teams, well if Andretti fails in the first three years without GM it's more than likely that they'll be forced to leave . If they leave their laughably loyal fans leave too. If you care about F1 or even Andretti joining F1 let them join in 2028 when they can get an engine from GM
@@epmcgee I'm an American fan of F1, been here a while now, longer than some, not as long as others.... because you say it they'll leave huh? Andretti has/does compete in other motorsports and they tend to be successful in their endeavors. You conveniently forget the 200million dollar anti dilution fee (the teams now want to make it 600 million, hence the shakedown comment) so it isn't really about taking prize money from other teams. GM has signed on for the engine in 2028 why not let them use a Renault engine until then? It's not like HAAS using Ferrari or Aston using Mercedes right? I'm betting the big difference is Andretti will improve as they've always done elsewhere and with that success comes more money to the sport. Oh, and by the way this American fan is already sticking with F1 so I'm living proof your hypothesis about fans leaving doesn't hold water.
Oh for sure. This isn't over.
Andretti are outside the cost cap. They're a big organisation, they have the money to design 2 cars. First one would be good practice
