I hope and pray Indy car grows and comes back into the spotlight.
NEVER WITH ROGER "AS-------E" PENSKE !
Indycar is basically dead.
@@patrickanderson9023 not dead at all. Car count on track continues to grow and the racing is exceptional. Indycar and IMSA are the two best products on track right now and it's really not even close. I used to be a hardcore NASCAR fan but I've switched to Indy and never looked back.
Michael Andretti, these folks deserve respect in the form of an F1 team being allowed. I remember seeing Michael and Mario in Portland a couple years. What a class act.
Mike is a hard core man and love his passion for his team and racing.
This is one of your top 5 conversations.
Go Marco🏁
My first race was when I was 6 months old in 1992 at the Milwaukee Mile. Michael won that race. 🤙🏼
Two Indy car races this year at the mile
Mario and Mike are legend’s in racing and I hope Mike can continue his team and passion.
Thanks for having Michael on. Your whats good about racing Kenny
What special talent Michael has, outstanding 's , stay safe , congratulations !
Awesome to see Michael like this...he has gone up in my estimation. Seemed very humble
Thank you Kenny. That was awesome
It’s great to hear Michael talk at length. Ty Michael and Kenny.
Kenny great interview
YES!!!!
Can't wait to see you in F1 Michael. Great video Kenny
Agreed howbeit Kenny is not a F1 fan.
Great conversation with a racing legend. I've never seen Michael more relaxed. Have a fantastic time at Indy, Kenny. We'll all be looking forward to some killer content!
My favorite driver, I am 60. AJ and Mario growing up until Michael. Great memories.
Michael, little Al, Paul Tracy..great time to be watching CART
Hey Kenny, this is coming from a motorsports journalist of 40 years, u might even recognize my name, did Rusty in SI ... gotta tell ya, this is a BRILLIANT interview you just did. Michael pins it down, but leaves it at big question: We'll never know if Roger knew or not. But how could he not? Would Cindric EVER have done that without RP's knowledge? Andretti and Pato O'Ward... no bullshit on the issue. Wish Newgarden hadn't unnecessarily said he wasn't a liar. Raises doubts that don't need to be there.
Cheers to Kenny and Michael, good show!
Awesome, interview Kenny. Michael Andretti is still one of the greats in racing. Very aggressive and never let of the gas, no matter what. I remember seeing him very early 90’s on the speedway in Nazareth, PA with little Marco and Mario in the pits. He’s become a greater team owner, with many series that his team are in. He has built his teams to be championship calibers and F1 is next. Thanks Kenny and Michael.
Class act Michael. I remember the great battles between you and Little AL.
Andretti would be huge in F1 with GM as an engine manufacturer
I love Michael. I remember when Phoenix had Indy racing and would go to both NASCAR and Indy races. Don’t know why they left.
NASCAR owns Phoenix and their business models are incompatible. So that’s why we see no more ISC tracks on the IndyCar schedule.
Thank you.
in regard to promotion budget, I can't remember the last time I knew when any pre-Indy 500 race was on in advance. I occasionally have stumbled onto a race in progress while channel surfing, but haven't known ahead of time to plan on watching. That trend has only accelerated since Penske bought the series. One starts to wonder if he has decided to take the series to the grave with him.
Portland misses you and your friends in C.A.R.T ,
Michael! As a fan since the 60s (!) I know a lot about your history, and rooted for youas both a driver and an owner. But the only time I ever saw you was at races. IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU SMILE!
Kenny.. This is one of your best interviews. Enjoyed it very much.
Let’s all show up at Milwaukee for 2 days this year if your close enough, that’s a start.
I'll see you there
Great interview Kenny. Reminded me of my home video I took in 1989 August 18th at Pocono of Mario and Michael Andretti in the Indy Car Pit Lane.
IndyCar has everything it needs to be successful. But zero marketing.
This was so good. Should have way more views. We gotta get indycar back on the map
thx!
Nothing was better than Indy cars in the 80s and 90s. Loved the drivers back then and the cars were so cool. Don’t like the cars and miss the American drivers in the series.
Other than say, Indy cars in the 60s and 70s, before the engineers took over and progressively killed the sport over the course of nearly a half-century.
Great show Kenny. Glad you asked about the promoting
Outstanding interview for both of you.
Great interview. Thanks Mr Andretti
Great interview, always have been a Andretti fan.
Good job guys! Thank you Kenny and Michael 🏆
Awesome interview. I have been following IndyCar and watching more races each season the last few years and it is truly some of the best racing on the planet right now. On the open wheel note, Kenny I hope you are able to get Ricky Rudd on the show at some point because I am eager to hear more about the F1 dreams he had before being sucked into NASCAR. I think he had the talent to be a great open wheel racer and would love to hear his thoughts on F1 and IndyCar. Enjoying the interviews, Kenny! Keep up the great work and thanks for putting these together.
I remember when Cart n Indy car split , I always believed that killed there sport , great interview Kenny
Might just be one of your best interviews.
Andretti in F1 would be great
No
Remember Kenny is not a F1 fan.
@@andrewlynn4263 What does that have to do with anything. Whether or not Kenny likes F1 or not is not relevant
A great conversation with a legend. I loved CART/Indy Car as a kid and feel grateful to have been able to enjoy then (and now as an adult on CZcams watching those seasons again frequently) what I think of as it's golden era, early-mid '80's-'95 with the greats like Michael and Mario, Rick Mears, Danny Sullivan, Bobby Rahal, Emo, Big and Little Al Unser, Paul Tracy, even '93 with Mansell (I know he's not a favorite in the Andretti family but that was a hell of a season) but MA was always my favorite, from the Kraco days (love the post race scene after his first ever win in Long Beach in '86 celebrating with a vey young Adrian Newey, then his race engineer) to Newman Haas he just had a combo of brilliant natural racecraft and talent and and all-in late braking gap-finding style like nobody else. Thanks for the episode Kenny and all the best to Michael this season and beyond, think it's an interesting time in IndyCar as it's arguably the best, most exciting, by far most competitive open wheel series in the world right now, and it's just not getting the audience the product deserves even as interest in racing is reaching new highs in the US (DTS etc.) Something needs to be shaken up, and my guess (and hope) is that Michael will be a prime mover of it.
Love to see the Andretti team in F1
Great interview Hermine! You are one hell of an interviewer, and it's great to see how your guests are so comfortable when you talk racing.
Kenny im a long time fan of yours and i have too say your getting really good at interviews you ask compelling questions and are giving more space for them to answer and open up themselves more great job !
Thanks for taking us subscriber's along for the ride. Great interview Kenny. 👍✌️🤙🤙😁😎🍀🍀🍀🍀🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Loved Indy car back in the 80s and 90s.
Great interview.
Thanks Kenny! Very good interview, really enjoyed
I have had the pleasure of meeting both Michael and Mario at the St Pete Grand Prix multiple times. They are class acts. My little nephew has brought his book of racing pictures to the race every year. Mario spent over 15 minutes talking to him (he races karts) by himself. This year he wrote "James, always follow your dreams. Your dear freind, Mario". He is a fan for life. And to Kenny Wallace, thank you for these podcasts. It is really enjoyable to watch a presentation that is not an "influencer" pitching his wares. Thouroughly enjoyed this interview.
Kenny i thank you and appreciate the content of this video. I kinda gave you hell last week when i told you to get your facts straight about how indycars push to pass worked. Your questions questions to Michael were spot on and i think anyone watching tonight will come away with a better understanding of the rule. Also hearing your going to go to indy in May, well take it all in if youve never been there. Again a great show and thanks.
Thank you. Great side of both of you guys.
I can't believe Formula 1 told Michael that the name and the ingredients would bring no value to themaurice and they would not be well
My man, Michael!! Used to get pit passes every year for the whole weekend at Nazareth back in the 90's...amazing times! Let's go ANDRETTI F1!!
This was an absolute joy to see two of my favorite racers chatting. Kenny you are a gem. Try to get Mario and Marco to do a pod with you! You know they will make it happen!
Michael, Mario, Marco.
Andretti's are a great family. I work for them in the car wash business (mechanic) and loved every year of it. Thank you Kenny.
Kenny, you had Michael Bad Ass Andretti on the show! So great to hear about his sucess and legacy. We need more like him to keep the racing world moving forward. Man I enjoyed watching him race. Thanks
One of the best interviews yet kenny! Famn I love you man. I hope to see you one day and get you to autograph my Red Dog Die-cast!
I agree that Indy Car needs to definitely promote better… I’m tuned into the series but do think they should hammer the promotion part !!!
CART was a great time for the series… I always rooted for Mario and Michael. Two of the greatest!
Great interview Kenny ! Good luck month of May Michael.
I’ve always admired Michael. He’s a tough competitor that loves the sport.
Good show Kenny! Grew up watching the Andretti's
Awesome interview Kenny !
I've been to 2 F1 races , a couple of Trans Am and 4 GTP races at Lime Rock but I have yet to be at an Indy Car race. Hopefully I could go to Watkins Glen before the end.
Great interview Kenny ! This is what IndyCar needs right here , A guy like you that does a great job of interviewing , say it like it is and knows what t ask ! Hope when you get to Indy you can do a few more interviews . BTW - see if you can get me one of them go anywhere pass's also , I will be cart driver , LOL
Awesome thank you very much!!!!
Great Interview
This was the first Kenny Wallace experience for me. What a great guy! Fantastic interview. New subscriber!
Anther great interview… thank you Kenny.
I wish we could've got to hear more about the F1 deal but I get it 😀 Great convo. Michael Andretti was my favorite indy car driver growing up. I miss those battles between him, Al Unser Jr and Emerson Fittipaldi.
Great show 😊
Wow big interview Kenny, well done you are just doing such great content for us all, keep up the powerhouse work, watching from Western Australia
Awesome job Kenny
Kenny, you create interesting content. I appreciate it. This one is my very favorite.
Great job Kenny , never been an open wheel follower , with your interview i might start
I can’t believe how down to earth Michael is. Can’t wait until he gets to play around in the f1 world. Those guys need some shaking up.
Hi Kenny Hi Michael loved every single one of Andretti's Michael you are just as handsome as ever!
I know that IndyCar has moved on, but Michael's insight on the push to pass cheating incident is quite revealing. Thanks Michael!
I drove a 2020 Freightliner for a week or two. It had the Push to pass feature but I could not figure out how to use it. I needed to read the owners manual more.
Nice Interview guys, hope to see you soon in F 1 michele
Great episode
That was one of the best Indy Car races I've seen in a long time. The Alabama track is a good one but SO WEIRD! All those strange insallations around the track, along with being IN Alabama, makes it especially weird!
Another good showKenny thanks
We are with Michael in his quest to join F1. The idea to get Congress involved was what I hoped would happen. I know John James pretty well and I am proud of him taking leadership in Congress on this issue.
I grew up near Eldora in Ohio. Spent every year going over to Indianapolis for time trials, etc. Back in those days this would’ve been 20+ years ago. It was always a big deal. My family started going in the 60s to Indy events. After the whole debacle, though in the 2000s with IRL and cart, they’ve just never recovered from it.
Awesome interview. Do more... like AJ Foyt.
Its says something that the Long Beach race had its best ever attendance and its lowest TV ratings ever in the same weekend. Something doesn't add up and its hard to believe that NBC isn't a big part of the problem as well.
Great job Kenny thank you for interviewing the legend and also giving Indy racing not Indy Car;) the credit they deserve!
In its heyday, IndyCar was a magnet for great drivers around the world, and could still be. F1 is bonkers but dominated by engineering, not driving. There’s room for Indy to capitalize with a driver-centered series. The reason it’s obscure is because some people, who want it to be about them and not their drivers, want it that way.
Top banana, even to a Brit like myself. Mansell is a homie of mine and he was my racing hero but thats also when I learned about the Andrettis :)
With your questions about Roger and the age he's at and the future of the speedway after him, I remember seeing an article where Tony George personally asked AJ about his opinion of selling the speedway to Roger, AJ (one of the biggest critics of Penske through the years) said there is no better steward to own the speedway. It really says what Roger is to the speedway, but more-so, what the 500 means to Roger that makes him the most fitting steward moving forward.
Really enjoyed the interview with Michael, a guy who doesn't go public often. I always wonder how he would have done had Frank WIlliams signed him to drive that car in 1993 - all with ample testing time, that is. Of course, I don't think ole Frank wanted to pay anything.
Great interview Hermanator! Would love to see Colton win the 500 this year, hopefully Andretti has a strong package.
I laughed out loud at Michael's Dale Earnhart story! Great interview Kenny.
Great interview, and great questions especially because INDYCAR is not your primary focus. Really appreciate the INDYCAR content!
Road America '96 was my favorite win!
I remember when he came back from F1 and ripped Surfers Paradise to shreds!
Indycar has the best racing right now. It's a shame people don't appreciate it. Barber was an incredible race and the fan experience there is unmatched. As an Alabama local, I'll take Barber over Talladega any day.
Hay Kenny
Back in the day . . .
Indianopolis 500 was always like the championship game of the NFC
and the Daytona 500 like the championship game of the AFC
and the CocaCola 600 (World 600) which ran on the same weekend as Indy was a taste of joining the two :-0)
