- Well, I was hoping the weather would improve but alas it's snowed and the temperature is chilly! So I have been thrifting for items to makeover the front porch.........eventually.
In the meantime I havre a great thrift video and have made over a couple of pieces for my home including some items for the porch.
I hope you enjoy the video and the few thing I have picked up, tell me what you think of the curtains.Have a great week see you next time. - Zábava
Thrift store prices here are crazy. I'm finding antique stores can sometimes beat the price of a thrift store and you get the real deal . Love the toilet paper holder.
Yes you are absolutely right. It’s a sad sign of the times 👍
You can never have enough toile 👍
Ditto ❤️😊
You can never have enough toile.
Absolutely correct.
I vote to keep the toile and shorten the lace curtains. Looks lovely and you got such a good deal on them for $3. Really like the egg covered jars for Easter. Such a cute idea.
Thanks so much! 😊 I do love the curtains even though they are a bit short 😊
There is nothing " Thrifty " about thrift stores anymore. So sad. I always enjoy your videos.
I know!! It’s a sign of the times 😞
Prices have gone sky high. Many times I can get the item new at a discount store for less. Love the blue and white vases.
Thanks. 🙏 how sad is that, thrifting is more expensive than new 😟
You are right! Thrifting has become quite expensive. Love the curtains since they stop at the sill they look perfect!
Right?! 😊
I love the vases. They came out beautifully. I agree the thrift prices are out of control!❤
Yes! Thank you!☺️
The curtain fabric is sooo charming it doesn't matter what length they are!
I quite like the shorter length 💙
Isn’t it fabulous. I love them 😍
Even though the prices have skyrocketed at the thrift stores, you still manage to come away with some great items and at reasonable prices! Love that toilet paper holder, and the toile curtains are beautiful! Looking forward to seeing your porch makeover!
So true! I am still a very lucky thrifter, hope the weather improves this week 👍😊
Toile curtains look great. It all depends on the look you want. Longer curtains look sumptuous. Shorter curtains look crisp and neat.
I totally agree! I think the shorter do look more cottage style
Our thrift store prices are raising and it’s affecting the resellers. I love your decorating style! You’re a kindred spirit! Love your videos and decorating and project ideas.
Thank you so much 😊
Lynsey, this is a tough time of year, buying groceries is exhausting, prices just on regular basics items seem to rise like the Tide, I live near the beach of the Atlantic Ocean 😎. Thrifting has become a natural activity for us, but the prices have gone through the roof, it all depends how hungry I am to bring home that Treasure. I find antique malls are filled with goodies, you need to know stuff, and study your Reference Books. I often to go new antique malls, check out their prices and see what items are trending.
Your toile curtains are perfect, long or short they work!👏🎉👏🎉
Looking forward to seeing your front porch make over, you have magical hands.
Bags still packed for 🇫🇷, we will go off to your back walled garden and remove the old/dead brush to prepare for your new wonderful view from your kitchen 😁❤️😁❤️🇫🇷
Absolutely can’t wait to get to France and get started, you are going to have to be one of the first guests when the gites are up and running. 🇫🇷😊
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 You are too cute !
Yes, the prices are getting ridiculously high. It's happening everywhere. Love the birds.
Thanks 🙏 I’m lucky I still find the little bargains
Those toile curtains are wonderful. They are perfect. This video was very fun. Thank you. ❤
Glad you liked it 😊
Loved the lamp with the cherubs on the base.I loved the plates with the artichokes on.xxxx🐝🐝
Me too!! I really liked those plates, but definitely don’t need any more 😉
Always love toile finds, but I think my favorite today were the little birds! I like the jam jar/candy jar idea!
Yay! Thank you! ☺️
The curtains are great, I know you will rustic it up , I loved that term. When you said bobs your uncle and Fanny’s your aunt I thought yes English sayings.xx🐝🐝🐝
So true! You can take the girl out of England but you will never get England out of the girl 🇬🇧😉
I love the birdies. I would have bought them too! Perfect for your front porch. 😊
I think so too!
You can never have too many dishes. We don't eat out often so it's nice to change plates.
So true! And I would absolutely know this 😉❤️
Love Toile also. The shorter length look so lovely. ❤
It really is! Love them
Hi Lynsey!!! I love the items you got!!!!!! So pretty!!!! Always love seeing your finds!!!! I hope you have a very blessed week friend xo 🩷🥰
Thank you! You too! 🥰
I love the toile curtains for your bedroom - and the vases turned out pretty.
Thanks so much! 😊
Love the toile curtains. I would leave the bread box as is. I remember seeing some birds like these. Such a good haul.
Thanks so much. You right I think I do like the bread box as it is 😊
I love the toile curtains and they are fine with the length . GREAT FIND ❤
Yes they are! I love them. 😍
The prices are outrageous that stuff is going to just collect dust very disappointed in the thrift stores see you next time beautiful blessed lady 😊❤❤
So sad 😞 a sign of the times
Loved the bread box. Angel. Birds. Toilet paper holder Curtains. Good job
Thank you! 😊
Yes, prices at most of the thrift stores I used to shop at have gone out of control! In a really short span of time the thrifting craze has just exploded. I’m skipping all Goodwills, even the Suncoast Humane Society stores that I used to love.. I continue to search for smaller out of the way thrift stores and do shop more at real antique stores where I have come across some treasures! I am much more selective of what I buy now. I love your shorter toile curtains and the old TP holder 👍🏻🕊️
I think we are all in agreement about the prices. I wish we had goodwill bins they seem to be the only places where the bargains are to be found. At least it may give the antique stores a boost 😊
The new curtains look gorgeous! Love your style.
Thanks so much! 😊
Oh thanks so much I really appreciate it ❤
Always pick up toile. Always and they look fantastic 💙 as does your blue Willow jars and Easter treat jars 🤍🤍🤍
Thanks, when I see toile in the thrift stores my heart skips a beat ❤️😊
Love the toile curtains..theyre lovely 😍
They are! 😊
It is obviously because everything is high now! You are not wrong!
People will stop buying thrift. 😞
Stunning vases, just stunning
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Friend, I understand the flustration at the thrift stores and sometimes at yard sales prieces. The ship book end/ door stop are awesome! , but I agree the prices was out there. I probably would have picked up the wooden trinket boxes if the prices was reasonable. Cardinals were a great find Lynsey. Love the curtains, very nice. Great price! I think you should kept the trill curtains. I really enjoyed the Easter treat jar for the Grandkids, Lynsey, Thank You.
Thanks so much., let’s hope those thrift stores get the message and start dropping prices 😉 we live in hope 😌
Love the toile, you cud add a band of drop clot on the bottom. The longer is richer. Elizabeth
Yes I do love a nice long curtain but I find the short length looks very English cottage 😊
and Mrs T Nice video again from you. I agree with you about charity shop price increases here in the UK they have been like that for a while but I have decided it is what it is so if i like something I go ahead and buy it anyway
Yes you are probably right. I love to thrift the charity shops in the uk they are still much better for bargains ( I believe so anyway) 🇬🇧
Hi Lynsey. Those toile curtains are fantastic, what a find. I would keep them and add something to make them go to the floor. I loved the plastic cherubs mirror decorative pieces. Toilet roll holder amazing. Looking forward to your porch makeover and that cane lantern painted up will look brilliant on the porch. Happy Easter, love from Sunderland UK 🇬🇧.
Yes! Thank you! If only the weather would accommodate , it seems your weather is looking up 🌞
Love the little treat jars. But bummer my grandkids are all too big for that now! ☹️ 🐰🐇🥰
Oh no ! make them for yourself 🐣😊
Yes, the prices in thrift shops are ridiculous. These days, I only go to church thrift shops (and even they are getting pricey). It's yard and rummage sales for me, and they won't start in my neck of the woods until May (through early Oct). Love the Toile curtains. I've been saving my jars as I'm trying not to use plastic for leftovers. Now to get rid of all that Tupperware.
I’m finding we don’t get many garage sales in my neck of the woods. 😞I miss them
Your right the prices are insane in alot of thrift stores. They are high now in all thrift stores. Its a shame.
My hope is one day they will return to reasonable prices again 😞
Great job on the vaseses. They look so good.
Thank you! 😊 from a distance they are ok. 👌
I have one of those birds, blue one in my garden lol. I love all the curtains!! I think the shorter ones look just fine. I asked someone at the second hand store about the prices. She said all the utilities, rent on the building and such has gone up so much they had to. 🤷🏻♀️
Well, I’m surprised by that. 😟
You could add a solid band of colour to the bottom of your toile curtains to make them floor length.
If I could find a good match that would be a great idea. ☺️ Thanks
We are still shopping in the video, but I feel compelled to say I’m beyond impressed that you are showing restraint knowing you’ll be down sizing and moving to your new maison in the future. And I feel your regret on passing by that long bread basket for $5. 😔
I appreciate that! The prices help😉 but knowing most of my things have to stay in Canada certainly does restrict me 🤔
The brown jug was really cute, but I dont blame you for refusing to pay a high price for it. The retro🍞 box is nice! I also love the 🧤 I think the toile curtains are pretty. You can cut the lace curtains. Will you be making a sign with the wooden board @9:18? Good idea getting those 🐦🐦. I had imagined them painted white or a pale blue! 😊The cherubs and mirror are cute. Thats a cute toioet paper roll. I can imagine a 🐦 inside the wooden lantern. The decoupage vose turned out great! The easter jar is a great idea I will try. I find myself saving glass mayo jars. They come in handy! 🥰😇🍞 🕯️ 🐦 🧻
Thanks Stacy! I think I may paint those birds in a spring minty green or blue, great suggestion 😊
Thrifting is a new game, I still think we’ll do well as it is our passion/ but all of older thrifters are adjusting to the stacked deck. Elizabeth
I read an article the other day about how real estate agents are telling people selling their homes to remove the antiques. Apparently it's a "downer" for potential buyers. And though I'm not sure of your age, the fact that we're both watching this content tells me a little of your taste. Thrifting has become much more expensive lately, but younger people just aren't typically buying what we want. And most people don't know the value of Spode or William Morris. I think we'll be okay eventually and it will balance out. And look on the bright side, what the youngsters leave behind at the thrift stores is ours to keep. 😺
You are absolutely right. I hope the prices adjust eventually ………but I doubt it 😞
I agree. Prices are too high nowadays. A lot of thrift stores are for profit. It seems to me that many of the thrift stores now seem to see themselves as antique dealers or fancy boutiques. My area is West Coast USA, Oregon State.
It’s a sorry state of affairs, let’s hope they get back to normal prices soon 😕
@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 I really love your channel, and I truly admire your many talents demonstrated there. 🥰
I love Toile as well! I never tire of it. Have it in my bay window/eating area of my kitchen, my dining room and a guest bedroom. Love the blue and white vases! The children will love the jars of treats!
That is awesome! I used to think you could have too much toile lol now I don’t think you can have enough ❤️
Prices are crazy everything has gone up. ❤️
It’s so silly, I still can’t believe butter is $8 here in Canada 😞
Where I’m from our thrift stores are good, but I went to a Goodwill store in Virginia and I find there prices are extremely high…like you said these are second hand items…I was really shocked when I saw the prices…I thought these are like from Antique shops…in my area we don’t have Goodwill stores…just thrift stores, Salvation Army store and St. Vincent De Paul store…I love the toilet paper holder you found I’ve never seen one like that and the curtains what a great price…the length of the twall curtains I think looks good…I’d use them…oh the brass ship you saw was BEAUTIFUL…the price though…Eeek…
You are lucky where you live , we don’t have the nice old thrift stores like they used too. St Vincent and the church charity shops are becoming a thing of the past. So sad 😞
I think prices are too high and I haven't been out thrusting for awhile. I am donating and downsizing at this point. I so enjoy watching your tbrifting adventures.🌷
The toile curtains look great in bedroom.
I understand I am trying to do the same 😕but failing miserably
Lynsey! Good eye on your pickings. Can't wait to see what you do with the birds and lantern. Suggestion...slow down your video when in the store, I get dizzy when you move fast, had to fast forward.😊
Thanks for the tip! I actually have tried to slow down. ( Will try harder) 😊👍
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 , thank-you, I do really love your channel.
Our thrift store prices are also insane right now. Our area has one donation and one consignment shop. People seem to be donating less and consigning more. Better prices and selection now at the consignment shop even though they take a 50% fee. With such high prices, thrift shops are jeopardizing their businesses. Sad.
Your absolutely correct a sad sign of the times 😟
Prices are out of control where I am as well. Yesterday though I did find a crystal bowl from Tiffany & Co for 2 bucks. Its estimated at $800 ! So that floored me. And I found a fantastic fox hunting framed print for $14. This was all at St. Vincents thrift store. Normally I wouldn't even spend $14 on much of anything...but it is a massive print, and its gorgeous. Our Goodwill's are an absolute joke in terms of prices. Its obscene.
Wow you really did find some amazing bargains, I love it when that happens, it makes my day …….week……year! lol 😂
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 ...yes ! It was a fantastic day for sure. I haven't had much luck lately, so that was a nice surprise. I walked right past the fox hunting print and then turned around and saw it. It was meant to be.
Prices are ridiculous at thrift stores now. I asked an employee at Goodwill and she said they have people who look up prices on the internet. The problem is, they go by the asking price and not the sold at price. Also, they don’t reduce the price for damages or missing parts. They are not selling as much as they used to, but they don’t care.
Wow someone is getting things very wrong 😑
I agree that prices have got a bit ridiculous but it makes it all the more fun to find the bargains that have slipped through the cracks at the larger thrift stores. I often find things more reasonably priced at the small non-profit shops that benefit charities like hospice or animal rescue, as they are staffed by volunteers & are not as popular with "pickers" & antique dealers (nothing against them---they're making a living & I'm just having fun!) b/c it takes too much time to visit all the small thrift stores. Like you, I'm trying to be good. But oh it is so very difficult to do!! Curtains look great, you can't see behind the bed anyway & yes, always pick up toile,(might put that one my headstone: "She always picked up toile." What do you think? ).
My head stone will say the same thing (plus Velvet) actually bury me in them both 😜
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 LOL!! Wouldn't that be a great name for a shop: Velvet & Toile!
@@vintagelady1 oh yes! Lol
You are not alone in thinking that all thrift/charity shop prices have gone through the roof. I sometimes feel stingy because the money goes to good causes, but, i have heard myself say “ HOW MUCH” I am a true Yorkshire lass and love a bargain but I do t like been taken for a ride. I also have a house in France and I have found over the last 15 years things have gone through the roof, so much we have had things stolen out of garden ( old garden tools etc) and seen them for sale at vide greniers 😮😢 xx
That’s awful!
Omg that’s so sad. What region of France are you in?
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 midi Pyrénées. One hour north of Toulouse. Love it. Four more days and we will be there for Easter 🐣 xx
@@maggiefoers2038 oh that is a beautiful area we traveled all around that area 😊❤️ have a safe trip and lovely Easter 🐣
I agree To much
❤️
The prices at Value Village stores in Ottawa are insane! I have boycotted them. They put a 2.99 or 3.99 sticker on a dollar store item. They price really out of style giant tiger dresses at 19.99. They weren’t even that price new! Value Village has been in the news recently for overpricing.
I totally agree it’s madness. 😞
Inflation. Started during covid. There were shortages and factories closed, so the stores increased prices astronomically. Truck drivers quit jobs. Less shipments of products. It's ridiculous.
Absolutely 😟
When you find a dollar tree item that is $1.25 (plastic no less) and still able to get at the dollar tree, but find it at the good will for $3!!! you know thrifting is not thrifting anymore. However that 1st copper kettle was a good deal. A fake copper kettle at Ross or Marshalls is now $20 so I'd take a real one (even dented a bit) for $13.
The world has gone bonkers. 😞
@@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 It totally has, that's why I watch videos like yours to escape it 😆
Thrift stores need a reset or something the prices have gone up so much! So upsetting
You are absolutely right. 😊
THRIFTERS UNIT!!! Hi Lynsey and no, you are definitely not overreacting to the high prices you are seeing in the thrift stores. We live in the US and it is appalling how high these prices are these days. After all, they are NOT paying for my time, energy or gas to deliver these items to their doorstep. They are getting FREE inventory after all!! Will someone please tell The Good Will that they are NOT and never have been an antique store. Glad they are for charity but they are now biting the hand that literally feeds them. I'll be glad to donate to an organization who will pick up my unwanted items at the end of my driveway and I'll save on gas that way too! The sooner we all stop donating to the thrift stores they will hopefully get the message. When you can buy new items for the same price why buy used??? The prices you were showing were way higher then I would ever pay. $13.99 for those pictures and it looked like they had mold dots on the mats. Thanks for brining this up bc we all see it here too. The Greedy buggers!! They can keep it all as far as I'm concerned! I've stopped shopping in them too! Enjoy your day!!
You are absolutely correct, I feel bad saying it but it’s true greed knows no bounds. 100% profits apparently not enough for them 😟
Never enough toile! Cut the lace!
I’m gonna cut that lace 😊👍
American thrift stores are pretty ridiculous price wise. Now the one I visit that is all for charity has reasonable prices. The Goodwill stores over here need to check themselves- their goods are donated- their prices are stupid!
You are absolutely right. The charity shops seem to be the only ones who realise, when you think goodwill is 100% profit it does seem a little greedy
The prices are SO HIGH. I barely shop anymore. I prefer Marketplace
I would agree but I recently tried to sell an item on marketplace but 3 times people just didn’t turn up. So frustrating 😞
Which value village do you go to?
I have 3 I frequent most, first St Catharine’s on Ontario Street then the Stoney creek location and upon occasion I go to Ancaster. I have picked up fantastic treasures from each location 😉 over the years. (When the prices allow)
You aren’t overreacting-the prices are ridiculous. I am finding better prices at the antique stores these days. You really have to search for bargains at the thrift stores.
Agree 100% its a sad sign of the times 😟
Are you English living abroad
I am. I have lived in Canada for over 30 years and hoping to retire to France 🤞eventually 😊
Wow this is a thrift store??? EVERYTHING you picked up was way over priced. Find you another store! We have many thrift stores in my area and most everything is cheap except for a few things however I noticed all stores are increasing prices because more and more people are discovering thrift store shopping as other retailers are out of reach price and quality wise.
The prices have been creeping up over the last 12 months. It’s extortionate. 😞
