Watch me find tons of stuff including more Corningware, Depression glass, Lenox and Homer Laughlin China. I also uncover a milk glass compote, a reticulated dish and pottery with a Shino glaze.
Want more treasures? As I kept #shopping, I found a Japanese teacup and saucer and a German serving plate with its mark. The mark has a number on it. Pay attention, you'll be surprised at what that number means! This will help you when you are researching. Remember, I left all the treasures behind for you so you can visit Burnham, PA and get the bargains I showed you.

These videos are invaluable. You can say "compote" all day long, but seeing a picture of you holding it makes it real to us. New collectors may have never seen "hobnail" before, or don't have a clue what "reticulated" means. Lusterware, gilding, impressed pink and green glass, tourist pieces, studio pieces, mold number vs date, German serving piece...I could go on and on. It's like having your own antiques dictionary or encyclopedia with the visual effects. This is so helpful! Thank you for the time you took to film it.

I'm a very savvy thrift store shopper, and I don't "miss" anything but I don't flip my purchases and have limited space with no storage, so I only buy what I actually want & need and leave the rest for someone else. I have hoarders in my family, and the thought of having too much absolutely terrifies me.
Same here, only buy what I will use.
Yes. I've inherited more than I ever expected. I can't possibly keep everything. I simply inform the family what's available as I go through the boxes. Many of the young ones have a minimal lifestyle or have limited space. Once items have been unclaimed, they're sold or donated. I'm thankful for the one set of grandparents who had already pared down when they moved into a smaller home. 😂😢😊

Dr. Lori, i love your shows so absolutely going to follow. I think it has to be said, prices are only what the consumer will pay, and so many people watch this, ( including Goodwill) and think "my goodness, how rich these resellers must be." 😳 what is not said, resellers pay for products, clean, then research and price(time is not free). With business costs, they can be 30 to 40% on each sale, which can include gas costs, wrapping and most likely shipping materials costs. Dont forget the stock doesn't sale overnight so cost of carrying stock. Being a reseller costs money. Don't go into it blind, it is a business.
But if you are just collecting pretties, Goodwill has great prices.😊
That's correct about values and my values are based on what people really pay based on actual sales.

I sometimes just add pieces to my mismatched plates collection. But you know maybe someday...selling/shipping costs and shipping fragile items safely is something I may research.
I purchased a franciscan, desert rose (made in US) piece from an online shop once and it arrived broken, so improperly wrapped and shipped..it wouldnt have made it down the street let alone from several states over. Seller was fair, did get a refund...but the plate! It was so pretty!🙂

I love old stuff and have even when I was little. I always wanted items from the dump that were nice or interesting. I watch you many hours daily for many reasons. Intrest, depression, boredom, exercise my brain because of trauma. You are so healthy for me and I am extremely thankful. I cant afford to go anywhere so you entertain me . Simply fascinating and a CLEAN Thrift Store really not to far away for a local trip! Thanks Dr. Lori ... OMG the stuff I used to throw away when I volunteered at a shop. Now I know why they called me the 'garbage man' even though the intake far surpassed our sales.
I shop a whole lot like you. I move things around and dig. I'm always treasure hunting. The things I love personally, I display in my home for a while, then sell them later. Other things, it's for resale or gifting. Anyway, I consider myself a winner.

We sometimes feel something is overlooked but from my experience when people are ready to let go they box things up and get rid of them. Even my mom, when her husband passed she took boxes and boxes of things (milkglass, , depression glass, pfaltzgraff-one set was 100 pieces, my grandmothers silver trays/pots) to a Goodwill and she felt good about the fact that GW might profit from it.

12:13 You find all of the Rockwell mugs in one place and don't need to travel elsewhere. That's worth a considerable value alone. No wear&tear on the car, no additional driving which is drudgery not paying us enough, no road rage chances, no fender bender keeping that insurer upgrading their marine boating equipment but more important-out time. These videos essentially stress "let the buyer beware" providing marketing insider info that leads us, the buyers to value-concious decision-making. Great videos.

My mother’s favorite American artist was Norman Rockwell and a traveling Rockwell show came to the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento two years before she passed away. I took her and she seemed to enjoy it, I know I did. When I went in the Navy a coworker had the chance to learn under him but chose the Navy. I said are you crazy?
I was screaming at the tv to take that uranium glass mixing bowl. Unless it was crazy expensive or chipped. That is an absolute amazing find! So many people want uranium glass these days.
