- the Vancouver Canucks lose tot he Edmonton Oilers in game 2, a very bakc and forth match with Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl all getting on the board. The series is 1-1 in the playoffs and now it goes back to Edmonton for game 3.

Honestly it was a great game, but sad to see that officiating had to be a controversial topic. Nucks just got outplayed in the third though, just like they did to the Oilers game 1. We go on!

Not really a whole great game. The 3rd belonged to the Edm. Canucks didn't show up in the 3rd. Same with OT. Edm deserved to win, even if Cole didn't score for them. You have to play 60 mins.
The refs were god damn terrible all game. McGoon's high stick being the worst of the bunch. The funny part is when they kicked Hughes off the ice because he was bleeding. I'd have been absolutely livid. There's no consistency, so many soft calls, and nonsense calls.

Hughes could not have been cut because there was no high stick. You can't have one without the other. After that obvious miss call I knew Vancouver was going to get screwed. Kane's slew foot would have made Marchand proud, then Hoglander getting speared. That's five and a game. Sutherland is the worst, and has a well documented hatred of Vancouver.
It’s funny because they mentioned the ref on the radio before the game. Tocchet wouldn’t comment and said all refs try their best. That was BEFORE the game

Honestly kind of disappointed but I do like that Pettersson looked much better. He finally scored and he also just looked stronger.

That was a weird game. So much was predicted before the game. Ref Sutherland be mediocre was talked about on radio ahead of game, Cole getting a goal for the Oilers was joked about, Kane being cheap and McDavid kicking it up a notch. Im a Canucks fan and there is no way we were going to sweep the Oilers. Oilers are a great team. I just hope we can take the series. I thought the Oilers played a great 3rd and deserved the win.
I was there and man was it ELECTRIC I don’t mind losing if the crowd was that amazing (idk how it was on tv) but holy that crowd was insane and I LOVED every second. THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS ARE GOOD!

I'm a Canucks fan and I admit the Oilers dominated in the third period, however, I believe the outcome might have been different if the officiating wasn't so horrible. High sticking drawing blood, slew footing, and spearing are considered major offenses yet not one of them got called which if they had, could have changed the pace of the game and possibly the momentum of play. Especially since the Canucks had the lead.

too many men on that goal...agreed...slew foot penalty yes...4 min high stick penalty yes...sacking a player penalty yes.... I am all for playoff hockey and letting some things go...but these were blatant calls that were completely missed and go above the bar of what should be let go in a playoff game. 3-1 bad calls here against the Canucks

I think after the McDavid breakaway they were rattled badly. Maybe a little intimidated, not wanting to make a mistake. Oilers top line totally took over, we could hardly get out of our zone for awhile there.

This is biased. If Hughes or Petterson started laying questionable hits on EDM you’d be all for it. Also let’s not pretend like McDavid was really doing all that much. The stick on Hughes is obviously accidental. Tbh this is the kinda stuff he goes through his whole career, he dishes out way less than he takes.
There was missed calls all around. The high stick was not called but what i dont aee anyone bringing up was there was another high atick that drew blood on zack hyman in the first and no call on that one either. Missed calls all around for sure. Also everyons like " i loat respect for mcdavid." I have seen this in the playoffs when watching mcdavid. Players say "they cant call everything." Your right so what happens to mcdavid all the time." Slashying, water skiing off him, cross checking, as much as the players can get away with cause they cant compete with mcdavids speed. So im my opinion this is mcdavid sayinf " ok fine yoy want to play that way lets play."

I’ve said this since the start. This series is going to be Close. I have faith in the Canucks and making it to the third just cause of how they can get their shit together. Even then when the canucks were not playing their standard last night they still lead most the game. Sunday will be good
What bugs me the most about the refs this game is 2 things, the fucking spearing on Highlander should be a 5 + game, should not even be questioned! The other thing is the interference penalty on Suter, it was weak but ok they call it, then on that power play Mcdavid does the same exact thing to Zadorov and it’s not called. And let’s be real mcdavid gets away with a lot of shit and it fucking sucks to see. Canucks got the worse of the horrible officiating this game and so far this series

Actual Canuck fans understand it went both ways. We also recognize the Canucks got the worst of it. Edm has set the bar. Just don't be surprised if Vancouver meets that bar going forward. They're simply not going to take it, vaunted PP or not.

Yeah we need drawing blood reviews and penalties given. 4 blind mice isn't enough. we should demand video replay if blood is drawn. I didn't think Edmonton had such dirty players. I kinda wish we had the good old 70s hockey. rough tough and lots of fights. Hockey these days has become more like a mix between basketball and fencing. Pretty shitting compared to when I grew up. I loved the 70s Canadiens and Flyers.
In the NHL, high sticking that results in drawing blood is considered a major penalty, which means the offending player is ejected from the game for five minutes, and the team must play short-handed for the duration of the penalty.

Kelly Sutherland is notoriously bad when officiating Canucks games. Everyone knows it too, there is a reason why the betting odds swung so heavily towards the oilers when he was announced as the referee.

Really could be 2-0 for the oilers if they hold that lead in game 1 even with questionable reffing. Drai coulda scored 2 and put it away early. Vancouver didnt generate much. Oilers played a solid road game. Carried the play most of the third. Now Vancouver has to go to edm where the oilers are a different animal. Edm in 5 baby!😊
There's letting them play after some rough housing in front of a net, but non calls negatively impact the integrity of the game. Without consistent rules being upheld, what's the point of any of this. IOU penalties make no sense. Call all of them, both teams. Game management has gone too far.

Unfortunately the Canucks will be losing the next 3 games I am afraid. Watching them for the last 40 years and it seems to be the same every year when they have played in the playoffs. But like always say maybe next year. Hopefully the Canucks will win the Stanley cup in my lifetime.

Edm is not that good, especially with poor goal tending. But when Canucks takes 3 shots in the 3rd and makes mistakes like pinching when McDavid in on and taking stupid penalties and scoring on your own team, yes, they will lose. You don't deserve to win with 3 shots in a period, especially against a bad goalie.

Get real, last game the Oilers were lucky to be up 4-1 against the run of play. Canucks earned the win with a gutsy comeback. This game the Oilers were full value for the win. Try being a little bit objective, you might like it.
