- Hello everyone today im addressing a topic that i think should brought more into the the limelight , bi erasure. there is alot done ti help defend homophobic discrimination towards people who identify as gay but not enough done for those who identify as bisexual, for a long time i have felt that there is alot of discrimination on and off line towards bisexuals and i feel as though it is my responsibility to address these issues.

Courtney-jay, this video is so eye opening, as an openly gay man, I originally came out as Bi thinking its an "Easier" life, but the reality is, its just equally as hard with people's opinion, but when i actually think it, I actually hear more discrimination to Bisexual people when Gay people. Its actually crazy to think its maybe not as accepted as being Homosexual when so many homosexual men have used Bisexuality as a stepping stone to honesty. Thanks for the great vid.
This Is Dan yeah it's a strange oddity what I don't get is if someone has gone through the exact same stages of coming out how could they discriminate others
Yea, sometimes, i really just dont get how peoples heads work :)
This Is Dan I'm gay also 😄😄
This Is Dan being bi os easier
I didn't know about Tom Hardy but I like Brendon Urie (Panic At The Disco) married but has said if he was not he would date a man. I'm bisexual I dated a girl but not guys (not by choice) and when people hear that they say "oh then you're just curious" I'm 27 now I think I know at least this about myself by now.
even more difficult than others acceptance is self-acceptance. Discovering who you are is a long road. It's great that kids have people like yourself that prove that they can live perfectly normal lives, no matter who they love.
Stew Adams I went down that path I realised at the age of 13 I was attracted to girls and guys but I went into Denial it wasn't till I was 19 that I finally accepted it and I much happier for it
@@Courtney-Jai hi how are you I am fine thank you my name is chetan from England 🏴 I must say that you are very very brave of coming out to be bisexual you should be proud of yourself there is saying that is never be scared to be your self you are a very lovely person you are so kind you have a beautiful voice hey guess what I am gay I like guys that’s all no body should discriminate anybody against anybody no matter what they are when I came out after two years to my parents what it was horrible they were horrible and very nasty 🤢 my dad was my mum and sister accpect me my dad has never it’s really nice to meet you I am Hindu religion I am 45 years old I need to have a life do you have a boyfriend I am single awww their is roommates for everybody and everyone in this world 🌎 life is not all about oh yeah there is a bedroom let’s do it no irs not all about sex’s certainly not just about being together going on holidays etc
@@Courtney-Jai such a beautiful story where are you from please

PSrecording thanks guys it's been a while how's your channel doing
I just have to say, you're extremely gorgeous.
Michelle Briffault I just have to say I agree.
I've been saying that for a long time.
Michelle Briffault haha you must have me confused with someone else
haha nope!
I love the way you speak about sexuality... it is very intelligent and helpful to people needs
Denis Mendes I'm glad it comes of that way I would hate to sound moronic haha
Courtney: Glad to see you are well. Glad to see you are doing well and progressing in your studies in your work to be in the position you desire to be in. Maybe one day you will explain what you will be doing in the future. Good for you passing your exam. You stand in the truth of who you are an be your authentic self. I do feel bad for the experiences you had and what you have dealt with as a bisexual. Being an individual or who you want to be is hard. Standing in your truth is hard. Too many people get hurt or blinded because they want people to hide who they are in different ways. I thank you for sharing openly on this subject.
Bi-erasure is definitely something that kept me from being open about my bisexuality for a really long time. I came out as gay first because I didn't think my attraction to girls was valid or enough to count as bisexual. I even had friends in college, who were in the performing arts, who tried to tell me that I was just confused and that I was actually gay. Since then, I've found more supportive friends and been able to open up a bit more to people. It's still hard, and sometimes nerve-wracking, but it's much better. I also think more bi representation in the media, whether it be characters or the actors portraying them, would be a huge help. Thank you for making videos and trying to educate kindly and thoughtfully. I can only hope to do the same.
I've been waiting for your videos and the wait was worth it. I can really a lot to you cause I'm bisexual and I'm proud of you! well done, it's actually kool to see the old you down to earth guy.
I find your honesty refreshing and inspiring. For those who know you personally I think they will benefit from knowing you and learn that acceptance is not something to fear and that simply labeling and prejudging people on the basis of ignorance and bigotry is no way anyone should live. By the way have you ever considered growing out your hair for a new look. You are so handsome man if you were here in USA you'd be offered if you wanted it modeling contracts for certain I think.
oh god, I just love your way of talking Courtney, you made my day, hopefully I can make your's by saying thanks and giving you support :3 LAV ya!
I am so glad you made this video. I relate and look up to you.
Long time no speak bro and great video.
i love the video as much i love ur new haircut.... It's amazing... luv u.😘
Keimah Sailo thank u
I came out as Bi a few years back and was lucky enough to have a fairly supportive family, however sometimes they slip up and use outdated homo/biphobic language and it stops me in my tracks like a slap accross the face, some are really conservative and have a lot of regressive ideas about sexuality and gender and some of their comments, which they'll say are "just an opinion" can be so vitriolic that I either feel physically ill or enraged. It reminds me that we've come a long way, but there's so much further to go, it galvanised me to become more of an activist because I couldn't expect others to do the work for me, especially in my own family/friend group.
Aww I love your doing the new brow trend.. isn't it called the wavy brow 😂
Thanks, Courtney-Jai. I think ultimate maturity is when we just accept a person for who that person is, without any labels whatsoever regarding sexuality. With such an attitude, it makes no difference what an individual's sexual orientation is. We are open with love to the universe........thanks, bro.........Ray
It doesn't matter who you love and to those who question bisexuality aren't worth spending time on. Be unique, be who you are, feel free to be open about your sexuality and take an example to Courtney Jai. Loving this video.
I lived in Beverly Hills for a few years and you would be surprised how many celebrities are bisexual or gay but they dont come out from fear of it ruining there career! I actually dated an actor for 3 years and eventually I ended it because it was alot of hiding
Great video! Love you as always Courtney xoxo
Great job! Thanks for create awareness. I think that´s all we need to do. Carry on :)
Renzo Vergani thanks man trying my best
OH MY SWEET DUDE ,MY FRIEND DON,T SAY SORRY I ALWAYS LOVE YOU AT ALL ,YOUR COMMENTS ARE REALLY EXCELLENT ,HOPE U WOULD BE FINE.
I don't know when this will show up outside the festival circuit (and maybe you can find it at a local festival) but Die Mitte Der Welte (Center of My/The World) is a new German film with a flat out bi character and the gay boy who falls for him.
Halsey and Lady Gaga are bi I think.. Unless you're talking about bisexual guys, then nevermind :D
And thank you for this video. It is needed because very few people know that I'm bi and some of them are shitty people.
Viltė Staug no problem and yeah I meant guys and girls there's a huge lack of attention for bisexuals and I'm going to try change that
I'm not sure should I react like a fangirl or pretend that I'm not. Either way because you read comments just again thank you, just for being you. I can't be me around some people because it would bring violence or bullying and I don't want any of that so thank you because I have no bisexual friends and your videos helped with hate and everything. Thank you.
Viltė Staug no problem and yeah I try and responded to everyone I mean everyone who comments has taken the time to watch my video and actually respond its only fair I take the time to respond back plus everyone is really interesting from where they live to who they are
Nico Tortorella is bi too
love you courtney-jai ur an awesome youtubers
Courtney, thank you for sharing your experience on being bisexual. You are a man of courage. You have enlightened me a lot. I think you are a beautiful person and I wish you all the peace and love and happiness in the world. I can truly say as a human being that I love you for who you are. Peace.
Well thank you ,you are very kind
We missed you
I know a bunch of female celebrities that are bisexual. I don't know of any males besides Tom Daley (not that he's explicitly labelled himself, not that he should have to. Labels really aren't necessary).
Women generally are able to be a lot more open sexually than men without judgement. Therefore, it's... I don't want to say trendy as such but not uncommon for a woman to consider herself bisexual or open to the possibility of same-sex sexual relations for a time.
Because of this, when a woman claims she's bisexual, depending on who she's with she might not be taken that seriously.
And a lot of men use 'bisexual' as a stepping stone label.
Because of this, when a man claims he's bisexual, depending on who he's with he might not be taken that seriously.
On a related topic, I just want to address my comment, "Women generally are able to be a lot more open sexually than men without judgement".
Firstly, I want to put on a side note that men can be more open about the fact that they've had sex without judgement. I think this is definitely on the fall but depending on your age group and where exactly you live, women might still be judged (by other women, I think is important to add) for being sexual as it's less expected.
That said, with the rise of feminism, the fact that women have sexuality has been largely accepted and with the rise of LGBT activism, the two have worked with each other in a sense in that women once weren't viewed to have any of their own anyway and at the same time as female sexuality being recognised, same-sex relations have become more accepted so women's sexuality hasn't ever been judged in that sense. I hope that made sense.
Men on the other hand, haven't really had their own feminism so are sort of relying on people becoming less ignorant automatically at the moment.
They're my thoughts. I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts.
CelticPred1997 I do agree with your points I think it comes down to how men are expected to look and act some how sexuality seems to be addressed as someone's personality when this really isn't the case you can be gay and masculine you can be hetro and be feminine and same goes for bisexuality.
I actually hate that sexuality is so strongly linked with how someone should be when all it really is, is attraction, for example I like musicals and I like football but if I told someone that I was bi some how people would question that I really liked both as some how it's not comprehensible all because I have an attraction to both genders
+Courtney-Jai Yeah, that's another very good point. I love horror films, science fiction and for the most part am not stereotypically gay yet when I've brought up a feel-good musical it's been thought of as confirmation of my homosexuality, and that kind of thing is then remembered as an associative point about how gay you are (like when people talk about "gay card"s). I'd like to say that people aren't necessarily being mean but there is an underlying critical tone about it and I'm just here thinking it's not black and white.
CelticPred1997 that's the case with e everything now people don't see people as multi dimensional and that really sucks
I think that it is great that you are being true to yourself.
you are super gorgeous .I love the hair:)
Social constructs can really hurt people's life chances because of how prevalent social inequality is globally. I suggest that you take intro to sociology. I am. While the discipline is not aimed at sexual inequality, knowing how society works can help you think that minorities almost always face some sort of inequality or social stratification. A minority is a small amount of people that fit a certain physical characteristic that is obviously different from the dominant majority or the people in power. While Internet "trolls" can cause people to be negative because of the troll's behavior, the good news is that we do not have to listen to them.Knowing that other people are in the same oppression can help you feel confident about your identity. Additionally, there are LGBT social movements that specifically aimed at adressing all types of oppressions that LGBT face. In fact, Queer Theory is a sociological perspective that sociologist use to study how sexual identities affect society There's baby other perspectives like feminist, conflict, functionalist, and interactivist. Yes, some of these ideas can be depressing, but the purpose of this discipline is not to make you even more depressed. It's purpose helps you to think about other people's problems and not just own. It's called the sociological mindset. Yes, it's one of those classes that sometimes can be an easy A. However, sociology helps us to think about the bigger problems and nut blame a member in society for their undoing, such as people usually do when stereotyping homeless people. Thinking sociologically is a great thing, and that's why it's a great class. The only hard thing us finding a professor who interacts with the class so you can enjoy it.
I've made a whole video just to realized the camera was dead once
Courtney I think it's great you made this video. I am sure it will help some bi person out there. I am gay and kind of wish I was bi but that's just not me. We are who we are and unfortunately I hear gay guys say bad things about bisexuals and I hate that...No one chooses there sexuality so we must respect and enjoy the diversity of others. One last thing I am glad for you on becoming a hvac engineer that's what it's called here in the USA I think. It's a great field to get into so hang in there you will pass I am sure......
i missed you 😭💔
new subscriber, love you alreadyyy
Ricky Mistry very happy with that hope you like my new video
Hello Courtney! Well, to my understanding, the discrimination towards bisexual (and bi+ people) is biphobia. Also to my understanding bi-erasure is literally erasing/eliminating us (bi+ people) from history and from the LGBTQIA+ community trying to say that only binaries exist in terms of sexuality (gay and straight) and that nothing in between exists (in another words bi-erasure tries to prove that we don't exist as bi+ people). I'm sorry if my English is not perfect and I hope I expressed myself in a good way because I did my best to explain myself. Btw, there are plenty of bi+ people in the media: Lady Gaga, Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie, Alan Cummings, David Bowie (RIP), Freddy Mercury (RIP), Anna Paquinn, Margaret Cho and many others (the website bi.org has a page dedicated to all bi+ celebrities). I've heard that Tom Hardy said during an interview that the rumors about his bisexuality are false. It's been a while since I watched your videos. I'll check your answers. Love you
When bi icons like Freddy Mercury and David Bowie are called gay in shows like bigmouth it just pisses me off because if someone is bi calling them gay and making them a gay icon and erasing the concept of being bisexual
I agree with you on what the media does and how ppl flip flop
Good stuff, you hit on the shit that goes unsaid, it's important. Nice one 👍🏻
Lily Gartside I like the way you comment you hit that shit good haha
Courtney-Jai I know, what a way with words 😂
We're the same age, but I find you admirable^^. Always keep healthy !!!...... "Like" from Vietnam ^^
Billie Joe Armstrong(Green Day), Brenton Thwaites(Aussie actor), Mason Healy(CZcamsr), RJ Aquilar(CZcamsr), Fresdie Mercury, Harry Styles, Keiynan Lonsdale, Nico Tortorella, and Lucas Hedges(Boy Erased) are all bisexual as far as I know! 😀
Also I totally agree with all of this!
I think out of all of them Freddy mercury is the one I connect most with be also part Asian
from what i read in gay media, Tom Hardy went halfway back in the closet. He makes partial denials of any sexual interest in men or angrily attacks any inquiries on those lines as invasion of privacy. There are prominent openly bisexuals in show iz, and biz biz.
TofuTarantula sounds interesting I'll have to check them out
that thumbnail😍 looking like a snack😉😂
There are a lot more openly bi celebrities I heard of but it is not so much mentioned in the press contrary to gay celebrities.
Also quite a lot of the of CZcamsrs I watched in the beginning (around 2008) were bi, but none of them is still making videos. I was quite shocked when I heard from one of them back then that even gay people discriminate him.
Good video, with good points well made.
I don't know what to do but i m falling in love with you ❤️
what songs in the background
oh that sounds cool. I'm going to school for photography☺
as a nonbinary transgender I can really relate to your experiences on bi-erasure eventhough I'm not bisexual!
Victor Beffers doesn't matter who you are as long as you relate you can teach others what it feels like
Courtney-Jai thanks, I think I never had a response on a post on youtube. you're my first one and I like it!
exactly! ppl act like its amazing to be gay or lesbian like omg. its not something amazing we are ppl
no offense but I didn't see you as a manual apprenticeship person, thats pretty neat
I think any sexuality based discrimination/ bias is extremely unhelpful and judgemental, it shows a social close-mindedness.
People have said to me, that life for bi people is a lot easier than it is for gay people. A bi person's can be seen as "hetro-normative." Married to someone if the opposite sex, people wouldn't think or question if you're part of the LGBTQ+ community. That its not obvious. Whereas it is for someone who's gay. This person said Husband and wife married, that that's how it should be or is meant to be.
mickey36IRL if anything it can be harder because people always imply there some sort of pressure to being bi like we are ticking time bombs if we are with a women we are going to turn gay if we are with a man then we get told we are either going to leave for a "normal" hetro life or that we are gay and the judgment comes from both ends of the spectrum from homophobs to people with the LGBT community
Did the media say Tom was bi, or did he say it himself. First time I heard of it.
irisheyes4you unfortunately I made mistake I was told he was but I read up about it he was bicurious he admitted to having a same sex relationship but does not identify as bi but I also so see this as a plus point as he was open about exploring his sexuality and
And I can respect that but just to correct my mistake he is not bisexual
Courtney-Jai thanks for replying. This person that I knew just pissed me off with what he said.
I really love you, man! If I lived in your country, I'd ask you out on a date! You're awesome! Good luck in being an engineer! I wanted to be an engineer, but the kind that drives trains! I did something else though.
u inspirerd me .when my mom died 😔
Hi, I'm your fan of Brazil.
Gilberto Trinquinato hi man great to have you here what do you think of the channel
I'm from Brazil as well
It shouldn't matter what your sexual orientation is, after all we are human beings first of all!!
Unfortunately to alot of people other people aren't considered that way 😩
I had no idea Tom hardy was bi.
I think hes funny about I don't if he is or if he's just had bi experiences
Tom hardy isn't bisexual. he admitted to having homosexual experience but that doesn't make him bi. It's like saying a bisexual man isn't bisexual because he's never done anything with a guy. As you mentioned, mislabelling someone can do damage to them.
mrmvpvip if you read through the comment I actually said I was wrong he was just bi curious at a time and I respect him for his openness about his experience unfortunately I can't re edit the video I might try adding an annotation over the top to try clear the confusion
Courtney-Jai Good to know.
I think labeling is absolutely rubbish. when you label a person that's the time separate yourself from society. why can't we all just say I'm human? does a woman, man, gay, bi, lesbian, trans have a different blood running thru their veins? it's all color red. maybe we have different races but we are all still humans. I just don't get it, why people have to label themselves.
clipendo I think it's more to do with understanding something it's like saying that rainbows are multi coloured everyone can see it but if you also add that it is caused by refraction you understand it more I think without labels we would still have the same problems but at least with them people can find understanding in them
Tom Hardy doesn't identify as bi, he's only admitted to doing stuff with guys.
Rory my mistake but still knowing he was open about his experience is something that I can respect
I think we should look at each other as humans. The fact that the LGBT+ community has to come out to people is annoying. I'm still kind of in the closet myself because I haven't told my dad about me being gay yet, but why can't we all just be free spirits? Why do we have to put labels on everyone? Why can't we just have one label, and have it be human? What difference does it make if I find myself more attracted to men than women? The gender of the people that we sleep with doesn't matter because we're the same species.
Ian Marks exactly id rather not use labels but I do it to try help people who find it hard to relate to anyone when it comes to their sexuality
Courtney-Jai Yeah I agree. I just wish that people would stop judging other people because of their sexuality.
Ian Marks as I see it I don't care about about preferences I just judge you on your personality
Hi! Two things I noticed:
1) you seem to equate bi-erasure to bi-phobia. Erasure is when people ignore the contribution of bisexuals or indeed the existence of bisexuals. Bi-phobia is when someone causes injury to you: be it physical; mental or emotional.
Bi-erasure is fixed by people telling bisexual stories. Please don't call CZcams out when there's little or no bisexual content or because there's lots of gay content - simply fix it by adding bisexual content!! (gay people can't add bisexual content :-) )
2) regarding personality flipping: most of us flip our personality dependant on the company we are in. I don't act the same at home as I do at work. Sometimes we act different to just get through the day, or bring fun to an otherwise dull environment.
Hope this is OK,
& keep blogging!
James Fletcher I would biphobia plays into bi erasure quite a lot someone telling me that bisexuals don't exist ticks both of those boxes the problem with making more bisexual is how to approach it I try my best to include what I can but thank you for your lovely insight your point are very respectful and I appreciate that so thanks
Cheers CJ :-)
hiya! :D
Just for the record women don't like to hear their men talk about other men, Some things you just need to keep to yourself .
Karen P. Actually I have been in multiple relationships where what your is very wrong, don't bunch all women together everyone has different thoughts on the matter
I'm talking about women not little girls
Yeah you don't speak for women u speak for yourself also get a profile picture you wanna spread your view do it with a little respect instead of doing it like a troll
How old are you 12? Grow the hell up, as I said women don't like men talking about other men, listen and learn
Karen P. And I said that's your own god damn view you are not women you are a women get some common sense you don't stand for every women so don't spread your poisoned views around here also as you consider yourself a woman and you have the nerve to spread such ridiculous points of view which quite frankly are childish maybe you should grow I bid you good day Karen
Tom Hardy isn't bi tho
Nora S. No he isn't I miss read an article he's only had sex with a man buy admitted it did nothing for him so he was bicurious for a time
wait? Tom Hardy? really?
FYI: Here's a short list of openly bisexual male celebrities: Shane Dawson, Alan Cumming, Ezra Miller (plays The Flash in the DCEU, identifies as "queer" though), Billie Joe Armstrong, Charles M. Blow (journalist), Nico Tortorella, Duncan James, Bryan Singer.
Me too bisexsual 😃
I'm nutellasexual
Poli sounds enticing
cute ?
litoboy5 haha cute
Don't be hating on gay people, It's not our fault people don't know what a bisexual is.
Just keep hiding and complaining about bi erasure
Brian K 2017 I'm not hating on gay people I'm not hiding seems I'm in a video speaking my mind unlike you hiding behind an account make a video let's see you do what I do and I will talk about bierasure because it's important as I will confront people about homophobia or bullying or being a troll
I don't have anything to hide it's you complaining about how some gay people are portrayed in movies and television.
If you have so much against gay people just stick to your straight side and do heterosexual videos instead
Brian K 2017 now I know you didn't watch the video amazing how close minded people are these days also maybe put a picture of yourself as you profile picture I might have more respect for you
Brian K 2017 I can't believe you just said 'stick to your straight side' because of all people, you should know what it's like coming to accept your sexuality.
Brian K 2017 he isn't against gay people, he was trying to point out that gay people view bisexuals as people that just can't make up their mind about which gender they are attracted to.
