Why Budgies are so scared of Humans?

- Let’s get the point from the budgies’ perspective. Who is this human? Is he a predator? Where is he taking me from hereon? Is he going to harm me? What should I do to save myself now? All these questions and probably more of such, stem from budgies’ fear of a stranger coming way closer to him. And he may not be liking it at all for general or, maybe, specific reasons.

I have 3 budgies and I love the noises they make. The soft trilling, the synchronized chirping, and the subtle purrs. I hate the screeching tho.
Same here, and the "call" sounds. When they sing i really enjoy it
But i love very much of budgies chirping sounds 👌

If there was a giant wanting to ick me up i would be scared too
sometimes they hurt my heart when they fly away 😂 LOL
My budgie girl is a rescue. We saved her from the cat. She had obviously escaped from someone else, and probably lived outdoors for days. She was scared and starving, but she didn't shy away from our hands at all. I don't know whether she was used to hands before, or perhaps she saw us as big, nice rescuers (which we are), so she developed a big amount of trust from the get go.
We took her to the vet, and she was okay aside from her wing, which was bleeding a little. We gave her nutrients prescribed from the vet to help her heal faster. Her wing remained sagging a bit, and she can't fly for too long in one go. The vet couldn't quite determine her age, but she was definitely not younger than two years at the time of rescue. If that is indeed true, she is now four :) And she's completely white, with red eyes. Albino budgie.
Another thing I've noticed is that she's scared sh*tless from any food that isn't seeds. She doesn't recognize it as food - at least not food for her. No matter how much I try, or the patience I apply, she never goes near fruits or veggies. I could cut them to super-tiny pieces, show her that I'm eating it as well, but she still wouldn't touch it. I can't believe that her previous owners, whoever they were, never fed her properly! I have to put supplement drops in her water from time to time, and add pellets to her seeds, so she could have at least somewhat healthy diet. She's shiny, chirpy, happy, doesn't molt out of the ordinary, enjoys bathing once a week, so I know it's okay.
Her cage has a roof that opens like a box, so we stuck a wooden bar in between the sides so it would remain open. Basically, she's not caged, and the cage itself is her "base". She can fly out whenever she wants, but she prefers to remain there. I can open the terrace door wide and she never tries to fly outside. I'm guessing she'd had enough of outdoors for a lifetime.
She makes cute noises, she's cuddly, not scared of hands (well, our hands) at all, and sometimes she goes for a bite. Her bite isn't dangerous at all, it doesn't even pinch, but it's more of a warning like "I'm not in the mood, hooman, get lost". She's initially scared of new toys until she figures them out and then chews the sh*t out of them xD Sometimes she even screeches and argues with us if we're playing the music too loud - or even if we're too quiet. She's very needy! We're totally her flock now. Owned by Cica (pronounced "tzitza" in our tongue) :)
this is such a nice story! i hope she is doing well still!
@@junkyunn She is, thank you :)

😊 that's actually how I got my birds
How did u guys get ur birds?
Is it’s a true story? I got budgies when I was like 4. My dad brought me as a gift and now they are telling me to sell them but I will never. It’s been 7 years that my birds are with me. When I was 4 I didn’t understand anything. Poor female budgie has die just because of me I feel like I am a murder. After when I was 6or7 I start to tame my budgies. 4 years have past still I am getting everything slowly. This comment was only to share my feelings 😊
Oh my gosh I'm so sorry
I have asthma and now I have to sell my 4 budgoes

I did my best to tame. But....i accept that i spent only about an hour everyday. They don't take bath for 2 months at least, i just have to help them or force a little, it's sad but i want them to be clean and healthy. It's 11 months since they came to my home, but still my female budgie bites and male trusts me only a bit. I didn't do anything to lose their trust. I hope they'll love me soon.
My bird used to poop on me when I first got him, now I can take him out and he doesn’t mind my hand

Aww my sometimes and sometimes they stay quiet. But they also get excited when anyone comes back home or in the morning when we wake up and start going downstairs. We always say good morning and I think that how they are saying it. I believe they are both females so they won’t really ever actually talk
It's so sad to see birds scared because of how human beings trear them. But sometimes it can just be their surviving instinct to hide from predators.
I really really need this content, my budgie is always and all time scared of me😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢thanks for this content
Same with mine I just wish they would not be scared of me 😢
Hey, it's all good, they get used to you with time, sometimes months but very often years, birds have a lot of personalities, give them millet to reward them when he gets close, they love millet.
My female budgie is really scared of me and it swells when she bite me even though I bought her home a year ago
It take a lot of effort to get the budgie tame. Watch videos on taming. If the budgie is with other untamed budgies, you need to separate them to tame the one.
Yeah I have 2 females that are really scared of me even i had one for 6 years and she still bites me and fly away, while the male is not really scared but he always goes to his gf and doesn't wanna be outside
It took me nearly 3 years to get my lovebird to let me pet him, just keep trying it will pay off
Thanks @guardian gaming
@@yomo6624 same i have a female budgie for 6 years
I like how he says that budgies are afraid of dogs yet my dog is afraid of my budgie and my budgie will literally fly onto my dogs back without hesitation 😃
That's why my budgies are scared with my own hands:(
I was wondering why it's so scared thanks
I think it's just their natures, my two budgies parakeets of two years are the same way..
Your budgie psychology videos are really good... it's how you move so slowly and gently that makes your budgies feel confident what you are about to do... and your room offers many escape opportunities if they want to back off.
I’ve had my female budgie for nearly 3 months now. She’s used to my presence, she eats from my hand and likes biting it sometimes (even my face!) but for some reason she’s still aggressive towards my hand when I attempt to let her step up :v
Mine too. They are more scared of my hands than my mouth. Apparently they dont think I'll eat them.
Same for me
me i think 5-6 months, well i mean mine are warming up, but i havent interacting much lately so they are losing trust ;-;
Well , to them we are titans , even if they know we don't want to hurt them we could still accidentally crush them. But my male budgie doesn't seem to care since he walks around my feet even if I'm walking , and he continues to do his budgie things... Like , trying to eat the ground , and other stuff...
When I just brought my budgie home, he stepped up to me! But he was still scared.
In this moment I got my first two budgies I'm soooo excited 🤩🤩🤩🤩
i hate youtube. it recommended me that video and now im crying like a little girl. this video remembered me about two my cockatiels. they both died 2 years ago from some infection that no one of ornithologists in my town could cure.
One of the best videos I have come acrossed on this subject. This will help budgies and there owners. They all deserve it.

Thanks for all the videos that you made, now I have perfectly tamed budgies
It's been 4 years and my budgies are still scared of me
It's been 2 for me. They pant and everything. I've never hurt them, give them treats and everything. Maybe my clothing is too bright and maybe I'm too loud and move too much.
I've had my budgies for like 4 months, and they're still scared of me :(, they come on my hand when I feed them millet but they r still scared. I come close to them but then they run away. I have two and they're still scared :(. What should I do?
I have been in the same situation..... I find that if you take some Millet or treat that they like! If you turn away from the cage with them on your finger and slowly take the millet away. Every once in a while give him of her millet again! Hope this helps!!!
Hey, for most birds it takes a year or more to fully understand you are not a threat, once they are attached to you, they won't let you go and even be happy when you get home to take them out of their cage ❤️

Yes yesterday I got 4 budgies, it is very afraid and scared on me
Thankfully my pair of budgies are super friendly with people. They even love hanging out with my little ones.
Their so cute :D Well explained! Now I understand
I sooo love your channel !
Your videos are so lovely
Building this relationship with my 4 little ones is going to take ...Years.. They are more comfortable with my cats, their natural predators, than me..its amazing. I now realize its our enormous, relative size (50x) which keeps them on alert.
Very good advices. Budgies take a lot care and not everybody is fit for it.
My budgie: steps up second day without any force
I agree to this, i just got a budgie about 2 days ago and it doesn’t bite (Thank god) and it he seems comfortable in his cage. However, he always spills/kicks his food and gets really scared with sudden movements and hides in a corner. I don’t know if i should take him out and wonder around the house or let him stay in for another few days to get used to the cage and environment. I also need some advice and tips for taming. 😅
I just got my budgie 5 days ago. This was my experience:
1st day: shivering, unable to get close to bird at all
2nd day: screeching+crawled under dusty couch= took 3 hours to grab it out under the couch
3rd day: hopped onto my finger after 3h of calming and petting him
4th day: started eating. Still screeches once in the morning. Calmed down after 2h of petting
5th day: flew away from my parents. Leaned on me and tried to snuggle into my robe.
So far: loving my first bird
Your birds are so sweet🐦🐤

A got my 2 buggies about 8 months ago (f,m). I noticed when I wear a specific long sleeves tshirt they come to me with not much problem. They are still afraid of my hand, but they eat from it and fly right away once they are done.
So can a budgie detect when I am sad then will they catch that emotion too or will they “cheer you up?
Hi Alen ...can I ask you a question
I was having one male and a female budgie and the male budgie
died ...if I bought a new male budgie will the female prevent him or accept him
I have 8 budgies, I highly doubt they're scared of me considering how long I've had them. Though they never come to my finger even if I offer Millets. What I think is that my Budgies simply don't want to play with me, they would rather play with eachother. I don't understand how you keep all of them and they don't stop coming to your finger 😅
Buen video compañero un gran saludo 👍👍
Ure birbs are so colorful
My female budgie is still afraid after breeding also 😔
same problem here
They are bonding with their mate and new flock of baby birbs wait till the babies fledge / get older and on their own.
Patience
Mine wasn't tamed when it started breeding. Magicly, after breading it was perfectly tamed for some reason. It would come on my finger without getting scared.
You realy helpt me
I have a fearless budgie, she would fly to anyone visiting and check them out, sometimes she would be nice and tries to preen their hair, other times she would dominate them by biting their ears off.
There soooooo darn cute🥺🥺🥺😭😭

Budgies are small and lots of animals in the wild want to eat them. Being scared is instinct, Budgies are smart though and with the right action, they will learn to trust a human
