- Two of the most anticipated motorcycles for 2023 are the new Honda Transalp and the Suzuki 800 DE V-strom. We tought these bikes should go one against another therefore we went on to compare them. The fun part started when we realised that the Yamaha Tenere has to be in this review also. Enjoy!

V strom 800 is à fabulous bike...what a blast on the road!!!
I tried all those 3 bikes...but i ordered the v strom.....now 10500 km in France with it.......
This bike hs everything you want
Happy we agree on this one!
France... All asphalt I suppose?? All straight road I assume?
@@VineV-Dutchshut up you dum*

South of France is millions of curves and this bike is fabulous on curvy roads man
Tomorrow i am waiting to take my new vstrom 800de . Cant wait to drive it
Happy vstrom owner here. Better fit for me. These are all great bikes....
What size are you?
Thank you for doing these in English. It is very much appreciated. Also that was a good save at 20:08 bravo 🙌🏼
Gratie!
Thank you for making this video. Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review. Great conclusion. Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Cheers wow! Wasn’t expecting Suzy! But can see your arguments 🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I was surprised to see how good the Suzuki is.
T7 looks significantly cooler than other two bikes. But it is good to have more choices.
I prefer the dr big looks, but the tenere is 2nd
I honestly can’t say. They all look good. The Honda maybe a little too much like a touring bike IMO but also sleek. I love the Vstrom front end. Almost GS like. Fender is sick. The T7 looks great at some angles. I need to ride them all. CZcams doesn’t settle this.
I would disagree
in terms of looks I don't really like any one of these bikes for me it is bikes like the Yamaha xt600 from the '80s
and the XR 650r and the xr650 L, Kawasaki KLX 650 C, these bikes I like the looks, more Nimble bikes not so heavy, and nowadays there is some of these bikes with 74 horsepower but only KTM does it, the Japanese are a sleep.
Cool does not always equal comfortable ride + performance.
If I were to make a long trip, several weeks, with both on and offroad, I would definitely take the Suzuki. Comfort of the seat, better suspension, reliable, like the other two! The T7 has a higher center of gravity, and if you are alone, it makes a difference. For just on road touring, definitely the Honda.
Good point!
@@RacingandAdventure @steinarknai4693
more off-road, the more it goes into direction T7, the more onr-oad direction Transalp. The Suzuki is right in the middle for my opinion.
No. Thé suzuki is thé best of the three on road. Clearly
Very good video. I was in the dealer and they sold their Tenere, and they pointed to the Vstrom. I didn't know anything about it and now taking a good look at it. I live in Florida USA so we have to ride the streets to get out of the area to get to the good trails
Did you end up getting it
Thanks again for a great vid. Wondering where is the other part of the Review Team?
Riding along with us, carrying the loads of the gear:))
Very good review guys. Liked and subscribed 👍
Thank you!
Outstanding review and format. Based on your testing it will be important for potential buyers to be honest with how the bike will be used. Tenere of off-road is your focus, TransAlp for on-road and VStrom for all-round riding.
Great review.
I think the looks are going to be the main reason people will buy one of these over the other. I personally like the Suzuki best, especially since I love yellow vehicles.
He picked up the Suzuki first and it was the only bike that layed down on the silencer side...
Hahahaha exactly what o thought!!!!
Thanks guys..good stuff as always. I'm slowly looking for an eventual replacement for my KTM 990 and I need something that can go from big single track to long distance highway cruising so the DE is on my short list. Good good to hear more info about it. Thanks.
Your opening got me thinking of something we teach and I thought I'd mention it for the benefit of new ADV riders. When picking up these kinds bikes, especially if they have full fuel and any luggage on them, just a few degrees of slope can make a big difference when lifting them. If it is apparent that the tires are a bit uphill, you will work much, much harder. For context, and this varies based on CG and such, but just a tiny 3 degree incline on a 500lb bike increases the required lifting force by ~26 lbs (and few people even detect slope less than 5 degrees or 43lbs) Depending on the situation, people might benefit from spinning the bike and getting the wheels down hill (or just the rear wheel). As much of a hassle as that sounds, and especially if it is a big slope, it is your only option. I've watched many students struggle and give up, only to then show them how to pull the front wheel around and get the bike up. Thinking through a lift on a big bike is important as is practice. Thanks for all the good content over the years....leaving for Italy tomorrow to spend some time on my GS over there so watching you guys always gets me pumped.
Thank you! Enjoy your Trip!
Hi, I just sold mine 990, and trying to find something intresting. Can you tell what is your replacement of 990?
@@zonakazika1169 I'm still on my 990 and on the fence regarding an eventual replacement. Fortunately, the ADV market keeps growing so more options arrive each year. I must admit I've been spoiled on the 990 as it has truly been a do it all bike and I'm dreading day when I don't hear that raucous LC8 barking through a pair of FMFs that I've never repacked. :)
@@toddwmac thx. 990 is great, a love and hate bike. I am trying to find something, but everything seems to be boring after lc8 ;) Cheers
@@zonakazika1169 If you do, please drop a note. Cheers!
Cool vid guys
A difficult choice between excellent bikes, I suspect once the bikes are set up properly for indivivual riders they will be even closer. Personally I would prefer the suzuki as the suspension is far more adjustable.
That was our tought also
great info
I would love to have a T7, with Honda power and Suzuki suspension. Torn between the Vstrom 800 and the Africa twin 1100.... But i can't justify the price difference....
The difference in volume between the music sections and your dialogue is immense. I struggle to hear what you are saying and then the music blasts out at double the volume. If it's hard to level everything out maybe leave out the music altogether?
Tires are easily changed and a HUGE ENORMOUS MONSTER of a difference on dirt. So no excuses for that part sorry. Same tires or no comparison.
Boom 💥 yeah
I don't understand why everyone misses this. The v Strom with dirt tires and dialed suspension will go head to head with the Tenere, and will be easier to pick up when you take a spill
@@danielm6507 doesn't the v Strom have less ground clearance or did they raise it up some on the newer models?
@@jackle842000 it does, but if you stiffen up the suspension it really should be that much of an issue. The difference is about 3/4 of an inch. Also, the travel is great on the Suzuki, and if people ride around with gear or a pillion, the difference will be noticeable and I bet the Tenere is less comfortable.
@@danielm6507 I've never ridden any of them except a V-Strom 1000 and it was an older one. They never ones look kind of like they have a little more clearance and a little more off-road worthy but I'm not sure. Old one was really top heavy. I'm down to a crf300l rally now. Now that goes off road great compared to all the other stuff but it's not going on a cross country ride by me anytime soon although it's been perfectly comfortable on the couple hour rides I've been on. Been surprisingly more comfortable than the 09 KLR 650 I used to have and a thousand times better off road
I've been really enjoying the new KTM 790 Adventure for this class. Alongside the Suzuki I think they fit the "have just one bike for everything" more than the other two.
Yes! Have they done a KTM 890 Adventure (Standard), comparison, to the Tenere T7??
@@davidmallia628 that is a different price bracket .. and not japanise ... the European bikes are a different breed .. more money less reliability ...
@@horizontal120 Understood! I only wish the Japanese could produce a bike on the lines of the KTM 890. It is a very innovative, fun bike, low seat, low centre of gravity, packed with performance, on, and off road.
We live in great times for motorcyles - If you cant find one that "overall" suit your needs, then you are too hard to please. IMO all 3 of these machines are very good in a different way to one another!!!!!
This is the reason I got a vstrom 800de and if I had more money I'd also buy the other 2 bikes unfortunately I can only buy one for now the de800 keeps amazing me more every time I ride it and once iv set it up for Australian adventures I'm going to be pretty impressed with it

Happy AT rider looking to try TA, nice video.
Congret's for the great comparative!
Jump to conclusions :
Honda great all around - er like the old ones. Keep the name legacy. Great bike.Does everything. But likes more on asfalt because torque come from the end off the rew's. Can go anytime off-road if needed.
Tenere, like the name, ready for off-road, own the desert and wildest road, free for the horizon.Never get lost, always come home from the wilderness.
V-strom come with new package, but a complete one, low torque, good suspension, can conquer anything you put in front of the wheels, tarmak or dusty road.
Good heritage, it seams to be the winner of the mix worlds, beside it's weight and power, big 20 liter tank helps.
On the other hand first gen AT weights more and power/weight ratio is the same as transalp => its is not better. I would rather go with following example ktm 1090 adv r with 125hp and only slighly higher weight
@@luckybsd Well its not only weight that comes into play. Its the entire product & cost when You are spending Your own money to live with the bike on a daily basis in a high cost country.
The new Honda TA 750 is currently 14000€ plus registration when done with all needed accesories one is looking at approx 17300€ in My region. AT is a reasonable, robust, uncomplicted, comfortable, nimble machine & has the brilliant DCT as option furthermore is a a capeable off road machine. Its a well proven plattform since 2016. In the end it comes down to tires, rider & skills.
I totally agree with you. I have tried these 3 bikes, surprisingly very good but still not enough to replace my Africa Twin Adv dct.
I'll be looking forward to the new, road focused V Strom due out in the Autumn. I'm done with 21" front wheels and tubed tyres! I know it won't be as capable off road as the three bikes tested, but that won't be an issue for me.
I love my t7. As long as i could ride offroad, nothing can not change my mind.
My fuel consumption on the Suzuki is 4.7 but i stress her a bit. You can do less. I think they have a faulty one or the drivers really likes to ride it😂
The v sttom is By far the Best of those 3 good looking bikes
We had a steady legal pace😜
How are you brothers? What do you think about putting some road tyres on the Tenere? Will it make it more roady and more comfortable? Because everything I see is that the Tenere is a dirt bike enduro and not for long trips, but I like it so much I'm thinking about buying it. Thank you.
bine montat clipu bv.
Multumim Frumos!
It’s a shame no cruise control on them huge when riding long distances , love it on the triumph tiger
As a T7 owner for a over year, what I don't like about it it's high center of weight. This bike is VERY easy to drop, especially on offroad, even I'm 1.88 tall. And it's pretty hard to lift, especially in hard situations. Anyway, I love my Tenere. It's not the best bike for long trips but I still love it.
Enjoy your T7! We love it also for off-road
You guys picked the right bike ;)
sehr gut gemacht!
They are all awesome!!
I maybe over thinking this, but surely the first bike to pick up will be the easiest compared to the second and third and won’t having the bikes lying down a slope (honda was up hill) make it even harder to pick up. The Yamaha has about 10kg’s of extra weight added with crash bars, rear rack, bash plate etc.
The T7 was laying down hill, being lifted from over 100 degree, thr other 2 bike wer up hill with about 85 degree lift. Not an even comparison.
this
Exactly I was thinking the same!
Without the loud music this channel world be great 😢😊
We are struggling the find the balance. Thank you!
Which handle bar raisers are used here in vstrom 800de, I'm searching for something good and reliable which are raised and further back.
I will try the Honda Transalp
Salutare, pe ce traseu ati fost? La cel de forestier ma refer...Baftă !
Voinesita- raul Sadului.
When you compare the fuel consumption next time, don't rely on the board computer. It is inaccurate. It's better to measure it in reality. I own a T7 and on my Balkan-Trip last summer, I had 3,6 ltr/100km. And this with luggage for a 3-week-trip and a sporty driving style. It nearly doubles on the Autobahn.
BTW: very good video!
This is all very super interesting...the Suzuki VStrom 800 DE is like some mischievous sleeper that never seems to make the news but keeps bowling people over with it's quiet competence.
Great video, thanks
I can agree that the T7 is the heaviest bike I've picked up. Unfortunately its the one I ride. Best bike I've ever ridden!
yes 👍 very difficult to pick ⛏️ up. that was one the reason i didn't buy
Honda controls have caused me quite a bit of confusion in situations where I didn’t need to be confused. I would have to choose between the T7 and VS800
Why is the music 3x the volume of the rest of the video?
I'm a tarmac/asphalt guy . 10% soft trail. Transalp it's the way to go for me. 👌
Let's say something... the tyres on those bikes are completely different. The Tenere 700 has better off road tyres than the other two, someone said that he didn't feel much confidence on the Suzuki off road, but it has clearly on road tyres, so with off road tyres it can be much better. What do you think about? Thanks for the video, interesting!
Vstrom for me !!!
Everybody is doing the 3 Japanese comparo. We need the comparison with the European bikes in the same price range .
There are none because Euro bikes all cost a fortune
I have driven all of these bikes and for off-road the T7 is the killer. Put on the best knobbiest you can find
It will becomena big dirt bike. If you have the skill you can do some insane stuff.
Guys nice review, but I suspect that especially offroad tires could have played a role
Great vid cheers guys! If the DE wins, why not buy an Africa Twin 1100? Its lighter (225kgs) and more powerful?
I couldn't afford it. But it is the best looking adv and a honda. I had to settle with the vstrom. In US, asking price for low miles used 2020/2021 africa twin is significantly higher than a new vstrom 800 de. Probably 2,500 to 3500 dollars higher...
@@trailrider1980 yeah? I get that. In the UK Honda are doing some good offers for Autumn but still more money than the DE. But residuals will be better on the AT perhaps. Cheers 👍
@@Motoeuro honda didnt bring the 2023 africa twin to usa so demand is very high for used models....
$10000 difference, Id hope its more powerful.
In Europe I had a new and accessorized Suzuki (bars, central stand, bigger windshield, back rack + 4 years of warranty) for 10700€. I couldn't find anything like this on Honda's used market. AT LEAST 11k for a 2020 model with 20000km. Also, the Suzuki really feels lighter cause the weight is down low, seems a BMW GS in that regard. The fuel consumption is also much lower, I calculated you save 2000€ over a 30000km lifespan.
Suzuki was a no brainer.
How can you compare the bikes, when they have so different tires. T7 has offroad tires and other for asfalt.
Good music!
I own a tiger 900, feeling it uncomfortable vibration on handlebar at rpm higher than 5000rpm. What's about the vibration of handlebar of transalp750 ? Can you share your experience?
Not so many vibrations coming from the handlebar. It’s quite plush.
Would the versys deserve to be in this comparison? And if so, how would it compare?
It's about trail bike, the Versys don't have any capacities off road...😉
I still like: KISS. Keep it simple.
I would choose T7 and spent another 1000 euro for makes it better and comfortable just because it looks coolest.
Thanks for the review. Could you please tell me which one you'd pick out of the Transalp and the F750GS if you were going to do ZERO off-roading and be using it mostly on country roads which are not super smooth and 1st class with the occasional interstate highway road trip. Perhaps you can include your 2nd fave choice as a bonus. This is important for me becuase I'm having a super hard time deciding. Thanks a bunch.
My first choice would be the new Transalp
@@RacingandAdventure Thanks a lot.
Out of these three, I'd choose the Aprilia... Good on road and off-road...
We will compare them soon
@@RacingandAdventure Africa twin would also be suitable for a review
Aprilia is like riding an oven!
Weight doesn't matter so much at a low center of gravity. My 1800 goldwing was easier for me to lift than my KLR650.
I still choose Tenere everyday of the week ❤
What do you think about KTM 790 Adventure? The same price as Transalp, cheaper than Suzuki. More power, more momentum than both of them, better suspensions too. And also comes with tubeless tyres
We will put them to the test for sure
Music in the video is way to loud!! Especially compared with the volume of the voices. Tune it down editor!
Asks a question - then talks over the person...
But... what were you thinking there? the tires are very different, the weight of the drivers. and guess the tenere 700 is tailored to its owner and looked to weigh like 30kg less than the heaviest driver. Not well done. However, the photo was good...
What?! The Siuzuchi?! 😜🤪
How did suzuki make the 800 weight more than a Africa twin 1100, did they fill the frame with concrete?
Vs the other two here: More fuel, for one.... Longer travel suspension. Bolt on subframe, which is probably more 2up/luggage/touring ready. Better, plusher, seat.
Vs ATwin...: Harder to figure out. But the Hondas Unicam engines are light for capacity. The ATwin is also a good bit pricier, so may have some more exotic materials, "fancier" components and more extensive machining. The Suzuki has a long stroke engine with two counterbalancers. Suzuki did not do THAT, because they prioritised weight savings.... It also has the airbox under the seat, in order to fit a larger tank without getting too wide. Again, with the additional plumbing, not done to save weight.
Suzuki obviously focused on building a great Adventure Tourer. The way those are, outside of comparison tests, used by actual buyers, is with fairly heavy luggage, and often 2up. Once you fill up panniers and a top box, "weight" starts to matter a lot less than weight distribution and COG. Both areas in which the Suzuki shines.
Philosophically, the Suzuki is more like Yamaha's Super Tenere, than it is the lighter, sportier, more offload'y, more "fun" Tenere. The S10 is even more extreme wrt ultralow and forward COG than the 'Strom, for a tall riding ADV bike. Which makes sense, since no bike is going to see much technical offroad, when carrying 40kgs of luggage and a pillion. Instead, what then takes priority, is a low COG, preferably more forward to balance out all the passenger and luggage weight high up and back. And, since gravel road is really the most realistic "offroad" you'll see, focusing on optimising the electronics for gravel also becomes important.
As for the Transalp: If you live in a city and commute: It feels about half as wide as the Suzuki. And takes the excellent capacity/width bags from the NC750. It is also narrower at the seat front, hence easier to paddle and park in tight spots. It's just a better city bike, as well as a better "sports bike", which can also serve OK as a sport tourer/adv tourer. The Suzuki is just more narrowly focused on Adv Touring excellence.
@paulnorman8274
I have the T7 but if I wanted a bigger ADV I'd get the AT1100 because its been out for a while and there's lots of good used examples for £8500 with around 3K miles, and it has cruise control and android auto.
I have Yamaha S10 and want to sell it and get T7 WR 😂
I can’t remember where but I think the Suzuki is heavier because it comes with lots of stuff already on it. By the time you add those same items to the Africa twin it ends up at roughly the same weight…(I can’t remember who said it, but it was on one of the many mtotvolg reviews) - BUT I will admit, I can’t remember if it was an 800 vs 1100 comparison but I know it was a V-strom vs Africa twin comparison for sure.
Tenere just for looks, I need to like how my bike looks.
Hmm, sheep or goats are not a problem for me. 😉 Deer at night YES! 😳
Yellow - I like a bright colored bike for safety.
AFTER MARKET SADDLES do better seats such as king queen seat exist.
My consumption with the honda is 3,8 l per 100 km sofar. For my need it is perfekt!
That’s a winning number!
Suzuki V-Strom 800de is pretty good. SIRS is really good, the rider should know how to set it for the terrain and needs bit of skill..
T7= Best off-road
Transalp- Best on the road
V-strom- Great all-rounder
T7 sounds the best IMO and has great aesthetics, it's also the cheapest. It's one of meanest sounding bike motors I've heard with it's guttural blip. They all dropped the ball on cruise control. Tuareg 660 is probably better than the T7 with its low center of gravity. I couldn't find a Tuareg 660 locally when I was in the market and went with a used T7 which was still hard to find at the time.
Because of the cruise control Aprillia for me but still ? Is it’s reliability. Perhaps I would go with Suzuki 800RE for tubeless tires and 19” front wheel. For time being I’m on Tracer 900 GT and enjoying the C/C and 3 cylinder 115 HP engine 😊.
They aren't all leaned down hill like the Suzuki. Or is that the camera?
When they going to realize that tall and short riders both exist and comfort should be priority and carry around a crap seat for the short if they want it. Just make the seats easy to swap like a four wheeler already. Jeez
no cruise control :(
If I were wealthy I’d put the other two on either side of my T7 in my barn.
Transalp is the best all around travel adventure bike
Yes,till the day you will have to change the air filter 😭 as well to change the drive chain quickly as she is the same size of the CB 500 X.I don't speak about the rear suspension,a total fiasco 🤷

So was the Yamaha seat much less comfortable than the Honda? Never really hit on seat comfort much other than I like. The Yamaha butt numbing in like 3 hours or less & others not? Also, be nice to know each riders body profile. Height, inseam length, and weight
Would you justify world raid 2k euros (here in Europe) higher price than standard 2023 T7?
I mean...You can get and mount a LOT of goodies for 2k euros :)
Im in a market for a Tenere, but cannot decide between Standard T7, World Rally and WOrld Raid...
Standard T7---11500E
Rally Edition---13000
World Raid---13400
There is also an option for World Rally but at 15000E price tag its just a hard pass tho....
Would appritiate any input. :D
You can definetly buy a standard version and make it you own.
Or you definetly not buy either of them, and save your money 🙂 think about it twice! The Honda couple of hundreds of euros cheaper, the Vstrom 2-300€ more, but you get rider aids, QS, TC, better suspension, better fuel range, comfortable seats etc. In this price category the Yamaha out of question for me!
T7 WR 👍🏻🙂
T7 is wonderful, others are bad copies of it
What about the economy?

It is the Tenere only
Is normal that you feel that the T7 is heavier to lift after lifting other 2
t7 is top heavy as shit
@@fleshpie2129 It's the lightest in this category and the coolest
Just upgrade the suspension on the Transalp. It will change all the dynamics of the bike, and you should gain at least an inch or more of clearance . Ok, low on torque, so what keeps the revs above 6000 rpm that bike will move . Lol . Myself the VStrom 800DE . Go figure Im a Honda fan .Yamaha who can fault them for anything ?
👍👍
Don't suddenly put loud music in the video.
Strange how the bikes felt heavier as he lifted each one. Almost like he was getting a little more tired after each one. Bad experiment parameters
When bikes are around the same weight as these three it is so irrelevant to point the finger at ‘one’ to say it’s the ‘heaviest’, once you’ve added ‘crash bars’, luggage, a pillion etc it’s going to change the weight characteristics of all of these. What’s more important is the Suzuki and the Honda have very little ground clearance, where as the Yamaha has plenty of ground clearance to do serious ‘off road’ riding. The Suzuki and the Honda are ‘road bikes’ dressed up to look like ‘Dual Sport’ bikes.
The first one definitely going to be easiest probably lol
Suzuki VStrom is the clear winner.
It made it for us!
Lol you can't base lifting those all at the same time. Lift them 3 days in a row on the same slant or flat ground and don't do it one after the other.
The Tenere is hands down the best looking!
The Transalp looks like an old man’s bike that got back to riding
Looks & apperence is subjective 👍
Sounds like the Vstrom is a big compromise and not very fun offroad or onroad.
It’s great at both.
